Happy Monday!! This week marks the last full week of Summer Vacation for Kaitlyn. She starts school on Wednesday, August 12 and is getting so excited!!! She is completely registered and ready to go, on Friday we'll get her teacher and class assignment.
We've had a busy weekend! We went to Daddy's ball games on Wednesday and Thursday, and saw Nana, Papa, Auntie Jamie, Uncle Joel and Carmen. We spent both days running errands. Kaitlyn saw her doctor on Wednesday and got a clean bill of health. She was prescribed Zoflan for nausea since she was still slightly dehydrated and not really eating or drinking. By Thursday, she was back to eating and drinking and by Friday she was back to her normal self!
Friday we spent a lot of time working on the yard. We got one tree almost all the way down, a lot of weeding down, and the garden beds ready for new flowers. Friday night we met Dorin, Nicole, Dominick and Isaiah for dinner, where they had a blast! When we got home, we watched the Giant's game on TV, hoping to see Daddy and Papa, but we didn't.
Saturday was more of the yard work. Luckily the weather was perfect for it. We got all the trees and bushes around the pool we hate taken out. Which of course meant a lot of the debri went into the pool so we started on a deep clean :) We finished out the day with some of Daddy's delicious chicken, probably the best he's ever made!
Sunday was finishing up the yard work and deep cleaning of the pool. Then we visited the cemetery and went to Auntie Christina, Auntie Sammie, Uncle Brian, and Uncle Davey's house for dinner.
Today we head to get some work done on the videos. This week is going to be busy. We have a lot of work to do, followed by a lot to do to get the balloon release ready for Saturday!
Most of the week was spent relaxing and enjoying summer vacation before it all has to come to an end. We finished getting the paperwork finished for the start of Kindergarten in 16 short days! We go in Wednesday to talk about her teacher and all of that good stuff :)
Saturday night, Kaitlyn went to one of her best friend's houses for her first "non-family" sleepover. To say she was excited would be an understatement! All day, she begged to go to Miss Sarah's house. When Miss Sarah got there to pick her up, she was outside, with her stuff, before they had even stopped the car. The girls played for a little while before they headed out for their night of fun.
They did great, played outside in the sprinkler, watched Wow Wow Wubzy and had fun until Kaitlyn started vomiting, after the first time, she insisted on staying. She said she was just fine. Then, she threw up again :( And again on the way home.
Unfortunately, the vomiting didn't stop. Kaitlyn kept throwing up every 2-3 hours and finally, 8 hours later, we were able to talk to the advice nurse. Their suggestion was to take Kaitlyn to urgent care. By that time she was pretty lethargic. She wouldn't wake up to talk to the doctor. She had her eyes open while she slept and started trembling with her eyes rolling in the back of her head. They decided she needed to be admitted to the hospital for fluids asap. They were able to find her a bed in pediatrics at Methodist Hospital. Before we left, they were able to wake her up. And not the nice way. She had to have her blood sugar level tested, so they pricked her finger and it quickly woke her up.
We headed straight to the hospital, where she was admitted and cried for water :( Since she was vomiting so bad, that was off the list. With the help of two nurses, she got her IV in and started fluids. Her first batch of blood clotted, so they had to draw more blood. After the first boulus of fluid, they tried to draw again, but again it clotted. She was still really dehydrated.
She ended up getting 4 large bags of fluid and being pretty knocked out until midnight, so about 12 hours after being admitted, and 16 hours after falling asleep. She didn't remember most of the day and wanted to know why we were there and what was going on. She stayed up, the entire night and rest of the day. She slowly started eating, 1/2 a popsicle, then 2 crackers, and a few bites of jello over the course of about 7 hours. In the morning, she asked the nurse for tator tots. Even though the nurse and I thought it was a bad idea, the doctor agreed. She ate about 5 before she got a tummy ache.
She had a few bites of soup before the doctor asked if we were comfortable about taking her home. We just had to promise that we would ensure she drank a ton of fluids and promise that if she got sick or stopped on fluid intake we would take her back to the hospital.
Her energy is definately back! She doesn't have an appetite at all. So far, in the 7 or so hours we've been home, she's had 3 bites of a corn dog and half a gaterade and a bowl of raspberry sherbert. She did ask if she could go back to the slumber party tonight :P
So, she's doing much better and we're hoping that she gets her appetite back real quick! She'll follow up with her regular doctor in a couple of days to make sure she's staying hydrated.
Comments Oh my goodness! What in the world did she catch? I'm glad she's feeling better. - Drea

We're so glad you're feeling all better now Kaitlyn! Back to your silly, bubbly fun self :) - The Brandusas
Kaitlyn has been enjoying her summer vacation, that's for sure! She has less than a month before she starts back to school! Her first day is August 12 and we're so excited to go back to school shopping in just a couple short weeks. We haven't received her teacher assignment yet, but we should about a week before school starts.
We had a blast the fourth of July! We hosted Grandma's 45th Birthday party! We had Karaoke, a ton of fireworks, our closest friends, and amazing family to celebrate with! Kaitlyn went strong with everyone until almost midnight, which is when she decided it was way past her bedtime and she was done! She was a trooper! The party was a lot of fun and a huge success.
We spent that Sunday at the cemetery before heading out to dinner, just the three of us. We hardly ever eat out with just us, it just seems so much easier to cook dinner at home. It was nice, Kaitlyn was really well behaved and our food was great. We had no complaints at all :)
The week after Fourth of July, I quit my job with Powell & Associates. Daddy's work had a better offer that made more sense for our family, so starting Monday, I will work there part time. We've spent our weekdays hanging out at home, having lunch with Daddy, playdates with friends, ball games and of course, lots of swimming.
I still have to upload the video, but Kaitlyn has been doing GREAT swimming. At only 4 1/2, she's completely mastered swimming without floaties. She does a doggy paddle above the water and swims like a fish under the water. She does great swimming all the way from the deep end to the shallow end. Her dive has gotten really good too, although it scares her sometimes since she says she feels like she sinks more, so I don't have that on video yet :)
Last weekend, we headed up to Reno at the last minute with Daddy. We stayed at the beautiful Atlantis and had a lot of fun. Kaitlyn loved the arcade and Circus Cirucs, she definately came home with a bag of loot lol!
We got back just in time for Papa's birthday. We headed to his house a couple hours before the ballgame and then after the ball game headed out to a yummy dinner at Ruby Tuesdays!
Before Thursday's game, she got to meet her cousins at John's Incredible Pizza. She has been so proud of herself. For anyone that has been to Denny's, an arcade, or Red Robin with Daddy, they know he is the king of the claw game, usually winning a toy for every kid with us. Kaitlyn LOVES the claw game. Only recently did she start playing it on her own. Thursday night, without a peep of advice, a side look from me or anyone else, she won her own toy on the clay game! She's been a proud little girl.
This week, we also started a chore chart, which she is doing pretty good on! There are times we look at her, and she looks and acts so much older than her age. She has really matured (most of the time lol) the last few months! She's also gotten so good at reading and spelling! There are times when I really think she'll be reading/writing all on her own before Kindergarten. Considering she's going in at a young age, that would be an amazing accomplishment.
We also have a bit more of exciting news! Kaitlyn's going to have a couple of pictures used in their upcoming ad campaigns. This is so exciting since it's easily one of Kaitlyn's favorite places. They are going to keep us up to date when they are used so we can share.
We hope everyone is having a relaxing and enjoyable summer! Stay out of the heat and stay safe!!
Comments Who better to have Kaitlin represent Fairytale town? I can't think of anyone who is more fitting. - ~Penny
Last Tuesday we got on a plane and headed to Colorado Springs. The trip there was pretty uneventful. The best part of it all was meeting daddy at the airport and him taking us back to the hotel. After 5 days of not seeing eachother, it was awesome for us all to be together again.
Our first night there involved a lot of unpacking, discovering the hotel, shopping, and getting settled in.
On Wednesday, I had a big meeting to teach the other videographers and photographers what their jobs were while we were there (I ended up in charge of all the video for the 4 day event). After, Kaitlyn and I headed to the heated indoor pool to do some swimming.
Thursday was registration day. There was a lot of little things to take care of before the big event that night. Which, of course, meant a bit of shopping :) That night was the big welcoming dinner where my DVD was shown (and loved, yay!), and I did my first video taping of the event, and really, ever with those camera's.
Friday was a busy day. Friday morning is the memorial service for the officers killed in the line of duty. Daddy and I had to be at the site at 6 AM. Grandma came into our room while Kaitlyn slept :) The time difference was an hour from Sacramento, so it took some getting used to.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday were all busy days! Kaitlyn varied her time between Mommy, Daddy, Auntie Christina, Uncle Brian and the Kid's room. Kaitlyn LOVED the kid's room. She got to eat whatever she wanted really, watch DVDs, play with other kids, color and learn a song and dance to do on the stage at the Sunday Prayer breakfast.
Kaitlyn did meet her soulmate she told us. There was a boy who was nice to her, she told him "I Love You." He said "Do you want to marry me" and she said "Yes" and evidently, that was that lol.
Sunday afternoon, I still had work to do, so Kaitlyn helped Grandma with her work. We then did our laundry, packed up some and headed to Outback, yummy!! On Monday morning, Daddy left early to start the long drive back. Kaitlyn and I flew out with Grandma and Auntie Christina.
The first flight was awful. It was rocky, had a lot of drops and Kaitlyn screamed at least twice out of fear. The second flight was even worse. Evidently, we lost some of our landing gear at take-off and had to drop fuel, and have firetrucks and emergency services available when we were "prepared" for an emergency landing.
When we finally landed and got our things, I hurt my wrist. After we got home (and Kaitlyn found a "sleeping" kitten in the backyard) I got to spend a few hours in the ER. Oh the joys! lol.
On Wednesday, I took Kaitlyn to Fairytale town for my birthday. We met up with Nicole, Dominick and Isaiah. The kids LOVED the puppet show! It was really cute. Then, we got to pick up Daddy since he was finally home!!
Daddy worked yesterday morning and then brought us home some food and I got to spend a lot of the day resting, relaxing and recooperating from our time in Colorado.
We have a lot planned this weekend. Tomorrow is the Citrus Heights parade, Aiden's birthday and my birthday dinner. Sunday is Dominick's birthday party and Hope's recital.
We hope you all have a great weekend!
Comments You know your a total mom when you end up in Fairy Tale Town for YOUR birthday. Lol. I'm glad you guys are ok after the flight mishap. I would have had a heart attack...(literally) - -Marilyn
We got in Colorado Springs on Tuesday afternoon! Kaitlyn was great for both flights and Daddy picked us up from the airport.
We spent Tuesday night doing a little shopping and unpacking.
Wednesday morning we had our breakfast downstairs and took a tour of where everything would be. Then, I had my meeting before Kaitlyn and I went swimming in the indoor pool. After that we headed to Olive Garden for dinner!
We have a lot planned over the next few days! Kaitlyn loves the hotel but misses Archie. She enjoys room service hee hee and of course the kids room where she is making a ton of friends!
