Dear Diary

Today was a super fun day!  It was pumpkin patch day!  And the weather was nice and toasty for it!  Kaitlyn went with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Beth, Uncle Paul and cousin Felecia.  Kaitlyn loved playing with the pumpkins in the little pumpkin coral!  After a little while of playing we were joined by Nana, Papa, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis and cousin Camaryn!

First was a trip through the maze.  Kaitlyn and Mommy crawled through all of the stacks of hay to get through the maze!  Kaitlyn loved it.  It was just her height!  After, Kaitlyn climbed a bit on the hay stacks but didn't like the hay touching her hand.

After that, Kaitlyn insisted on pulling Cami through the pumpkin patch in her wagon.  Then, they had a chance to play with a very old tractor.  Kaitlyn really liked the wheels.  Once that was done, it was time for a yummy snack!

Snack time led straight to train time!  Kaitlyn really liked the choo choo train!  She chooed chooed right along with it!  We all got off at the pumpkin patch and started the search for the great pumpkin.

The search was a long one.  Kaitlyn found many a pumpkins she liked as the warm California sun beat down on us.  After a little while it was time to say Bye Bye to Nana, Papa, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis and Cami.  Kaitlyn kept searching and finally decided on the 4 perfect pumpkins she wanted!  Then she went and played some more in the old fashioned "candy" store and hay store.  She ran around, met new friends and had a ball!  She wasn't thrilled when it was finally time to say bye to the pumpkin patch, but she was worn out!  It was only a few minutes before she was off to sleep!

Kaitlyn slept through some shopping with Mommy, Auntie Beth, and Jamie for Birthday Party supplies.  When she woke up she was at Grandma and Grandpa's ready to play in her room!  She was a very good girl!  She went to sleep a happy little pumpkin.

Hello there everyone!

Kaitlyn had a great day yesterday. The morning started with her first speech therapy appointment. Parents are encouraged to wait in the waiting room, and Kaitlyn happily went back with Miss Sarah to play with toys and practice talking. The speech therapist said she did really good, was open to new ways of moving her mouth and using those muscles and very outgoing.

After that, we had lunch with daddy and played. When we picked Daddy up for lunch we went someplace knew! We went to EJ's Little People and Kaitlyn had her very first hair cut. On the way we told her where we were going and she kept petting her head saying "ow?"

We got there and she was sooo good! The stylist said she was one of the best she's seen. Kaitlyn just sat there, played and watched. Her hair looks so cute!

Here are some pictures:

After that, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Cami, Auntie Jamie and Uncle Joel all came over! There was a lot of playing, a lot of fun and some tired little girls!

Today, Kaitlyn and Camaryn are going to get some bewitching pictures done!! We'll post them soon!

We're back!!

Kaitlyn's hearing test was today, she's home and in good spirits!  The test reveled that she most definatly has NORMAL HEARING!  We are so happy and thankful to hear that!

Kaitlyn's day started by sleeping in until just after 9 AM.  After some water and rest we headed off to the zoo!  Kaitlyn had a blast looking at the lemurs, monkeys, tigers, chimps and birds.  She did the appropriate noises for each and spent a long time with the chimps.  They were playing and she was laughing!  She had a great time.

After the zoo, we went to William Land Park to visit the ducks!  Kaitlyn loved the ducks.  She enjoyed climbing and playing and running in circles.

From there, we drove to the hospital.  Not once did Kaitlyn complain or cry for food.  She was a big girl!  When we arrived at the hospital we were greeted by Grandma!  Kaitlyn had the first round of tests before heading to the main wing of the hospital for pre-op procedures.  Papa greeted us there.  Kaitlyn was weighed, at her blood pressure taken, her heart rate monitored and numbing cream liberally applied to her hands.  She then had about an hour to kill.  Then, Nana, Auntie Christy and Cami arrived to keep Kaitlyn entertained.

At around 4, Kaitlyn was taken back to the testing area.  Daddy and I were able to be with her while the inserted the IV.  Kaitlyn didn't cry at all!!  The doctor began to administor the medicine and before he could say "she'll be asleep soon" Kaitlyn was conked out!  Daddy and I left the room while Kaitlyn was tested.

Since we had also gone the day without food, we ran to the cafeteria.  Before we could finish our food, the test was over and we were called to see our princess.  Rahter than the 1 1/2 hours we were told to expect, it was barely 30 minutes.

When we got back to the recovery room, they were helping Kaitlyn because she was having a bit of trouble breathing.  She had secreations that were causing her to cough, but not enough and blocking her airway.  She was given oxygen under her nose and her head cradled by the nurse to ensure her airway remained clear.

Kaitlyn slept deeply for quite some time before waking up.  Boy was she grumpy.  She sat straight up and ripped off her breathing and tugged at the monitors on her chest.

Kaitlyn was released within 15 minutes of waking up.  She got a teddy bear for being such a good girl.  Looking at her now, you can't even tell she was sedated.

The anesthiologist told us that she will more than likely be groggy through most of tomorrow so we cancelled a Mervyn's shoot.

Kaitlyn will also start Speech Therapy on Friday morning!

A very special thank you to Grandma, Nana, Papa, Auntie Christy and Cami for visiting Kaitlyn today and being there for support!

10/17/06 Continued

Kaitlyn is very excited and proud to be able to say that her Uncle Ray will be joining her to celebrate her birthday this year! And as we all know, Uncle Dennis and Kaitlyn share a birthday making it even more special. Uncle Ray will fly in Saturday morning and stay all the way through Monday morning! Yay!!

On October 29, Kaitlyn will have her first professional headshots taken. We have decided to go through a renowned photography by the name of Kelsey Edwards.  She will be in Sacramento for the day shooting photographs.  We are really excited.  She has worked with some big stars like Dakota Fanning, Billly Bob Thorton and many more!

10/17/06

Sniff Sniff.  One month from today Kaitlyn will be two!  She'll be deep into toddlerdom and on her way to being a preschooler.

Kaitlyn shows NO sign of baby hood at all anymore.  She's such a big girl.  Kaitlyn is pretty well mannered and a good good.  We are really proud of her.

Kaitlyn's speech is slowly improving.  We are still waiting to start speech therapy.  She LOVES to sign along with you.  Her favorites are "Twinkle Twinkle", "Wheels on the Bus," and the ABC song.

Kaitlyn is doing good sleeping in her big girl bed.  Occassionally she'll sneak out of her bed and her room, but once she realizes it's night time and there isn't anyone to play, she climbs back in her bed, covers up with the blanket and goes to sleep.  Her mornings typically start at 7:20.  She gives her daddy love before he goes to work and begins playing.  Archie does not like playing so early in the day.

For breakfast, Kaitlyn's favorite are bananas and wheat bread not toasted.  We discovered that she does not like cinnamon toast and she only like Peanut butter on bread that is toasted but will not eat the actual bread.  She loves the crust and eats that first hee hee.

Kaitlyn loves to run, jump, play and be sillly.  She's really good at Ring Around the Rosie and falls with such enthusiasm you can't help but join in.  She's discovering the fun of jumping off of things and we are discovering the fear of a fearless toddler.

Kaitlyn can point out nunbers 1-10 and most letters.  She loves to push the button on the elevators and steps off of escalators with ease.

Kaitlyn's favorite show is Sesame Street.  After Sesame Street is Barney.  I cannot stand to watch Barney.  There have been a handful of times when I haven't turned the TV off in time for music time or  changed the channel and she's seen part of them.  She is only interested when they are singing.  So, now her new game is to have you sing the "I Love You" Barney song.  When you get to the "great big hug and a kiss from me to you" Kaitlyn runs to you to with a great big hug and a kiss!  It's darling!

Kaitlyn has been busy lately.  On Thursday she had  Mervyn's shoot.  It's for Holiday.  The shot had a wooden rocking horse and stack of presents as props.  Kaitlyn wanted them.  They removed everything out of site so she wouldn't be so distracted.  Well, Kaitlyn wasn't going to fall for that.  She plopped onto her knees and stared at Hudson, the photographer with her arms crossed.  Needless to say, we opted for the back up haha.

We started Saturday morning off really early.  At 8 AM we left with Nana and Papa and Daddy to San Francisco.  Kaitlyn had another Mervyn's shoot.  Kaitlyn was great the whole drive down.  When we got there she played and played.  She saw her friend Lexi and played even more.  Kaitlyn and Lexi were in the shot together.  They played and played until they were seperated to have pictures on their own.  Kaitlyn was a super star and got some great pics!

From the shoot we headed to San Jose.  There we met up with Aunt Barbara and Uncle Dean in their humungous apartment.  There were a lot of musical instruments for Kaitlyn to play with and she sure did enjoy that!  We all went to lunch where Kaitlyn only ate Ketchup.  She refused everything else haha.

Across from Aunt Barbara and Uncle Dean's home is a beautiful pond and park.  Everyone headed there and Kaitlyn had so much fun playing.  She got to teeter tot, swing, climb, sit in a paddle boat and see some Canadian Geese.  At first she was a bit scared of the Geese, but she soon warmed up!

After a long while of playing, it was time to head back.  We decided to stop at the Great Mall on the way home.  Kaitlyn was a good girl in her "vroom vroom" stroller.  After that we were back in the car.  It was getting late when we stopped in Cordelia to have dinner at Denny's.  Even though we waited over an hour for our food, Kaitlyn didn't fuss once!  we were proud of our princess!

On Sunday, we started again bright and early!  We headed to Grandma and Grandpa's and saw Archie!!  Kaitlyn really missed him on Saturday.  Kaitlyn helped Grandpa plant some yellow flowers.  She scopped up the bark with her shovel, poured it on and then sweeped them into place.  She was a good helper!  She also LOVED playing with Johnny and Archie!  We did some shopping with Grandma to pick up part of Kaitlyn and Cami's costumes!  After all of that everyone headed to Uncle Jim's and Aunt Sue's for some DELICIOUS dinner!  We also met Brian's son, Reed.  Reed is 8 and Kaitlyn fell in love at first site.  She pushed Felecia out of the way to say Hi and played with him all night!

After dinner we went and picked up Archie and headed home!  It was a good weekend!

Yesterday, Kaitlyn and I took Daddy to work.  We then ran a couple of quick errands before Kaitlyn had her "pre-op" appointment for her hearing test.  Kaitlyn weighed in at 27 pounds.  That put her in the 59% for weight and she is 74% for height at 34.5 inches.  Kaitlyn passed with flying colors and was approved for the procedure.

After, we hit Walmart.  Walmart has a Thomas the Train background set and Kaitlyn loves Thomas the "too too" so she had her pictures made.  We also did a little shopping.  We then hit Ross and Michael's for more birthday stuff!

After that bit of shopping, we met Daddy for lunch.  Grandma and Auntie Christina went with us to Burger King.  Kaitlyn loved playing in the play jungle!  She made new friends and tired herself out!

After taking Daddy back to work, we went home to let Archie out and pick up the stroller.  Kaitlyn stayed fast asleep!  Then we went to Nordstrom Rack, the Party store and the mall!  Kaitlyn got a lot of goodies, she just slept through it all!  We picked daddy up from work and headed home.

For dinner,  Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Cami, Nana and Papa came over and we all headed to the Mexican resturaunt for some yummys!  After a messy dinner daddy brought Kaitlyn home and mommy went to the Halloween stores with Auntie Christy.  It was a good day.

Tomorrow is Kaitlyn's hearing test.  We will be leaving the house at 7 and probably won't get home until late.  Kaitlyn is going to have a fun trip to the Zoo!

Everyone should be receiving birthday invites by the end of the week!  Yay!  It's almost birthday time!!!

Have a GREAT Tuesday!

10/12/06

I plan on updating more in a while, but I just want to share a story with everyone.

Kaitlyn is coloring at the table while I work on her birthday invitations. She said "Mommy, Mommy" and showed me her picture. It's a perfect circle with another circle inside of it. She said "eye" while pointing to it. Then, she drew a U shape and said "nose" Then, she drew a perfect circle and said "moon". Moons are her favorite. When she's done coloring I'll scan it and label what's what hee hee.

Holy Moly! It's been 10 days since an update!!

Kaitlyn is growing and learning like crazy. She loves to do everything on her own. She likes to go upstairs for bath or night, night, but when she passes the light switch she says "light" switches the light on and says "dar" for there. It's so cute. Then she'll continue on her way.

Kaitlyn had a fun weekend. She spent Saturday with Nana and Papa and Mommy and Daddy playing and gardening. She spent Sunday with Grandma and Grandpa playing in her sandbox and shopping for Birthday supplies!

We took her to wishing well to shop for birthday stuff. It's all decked out for Halloween. When we walked by a bin of eyeballs she said "eye, uh-oh" over and over while shaking her head. She was very confused and not too happy.

She did love all of the other toys and gadgets to play with though!

Kaitlyn has had a pretty relaxing week so far, she has spent most of it at home with Mommy. Last night she went to Daddy's softball game but slept through most of it. She may get to go again tonight for their tournament. We'll see how the weather is.

Today, Kaitlyn had an appointment with her Early Intervention Service Coordinator. She thinks Kaitlyn is going to do great in Speech Therapy and really thrive from it. So, we should be starting that with Kaitlyn pretty soon.

This weekend should be fun! Kaitlyn is going to start it off on Saturday with a fun first birthday party for her friend Luke. Then she is going with her Mommy, Daddy, Nana and Papa to see her Aunt Barbara and Uncle Dean! It should be a lot of fun. She'll probably be nice and tired from the birthday party and sleep the whole way there! On Sunday it's off to Grandma and Grandpa's house! Yay!!

I posted pictures of Kaitlyn in her Halloween costume. I made it all by my lonesome from the top to the bottom! I made Cami one too so Kaitlyn can be the bad witch and Cami the good witch! I finished Kaitlyn's birthday outfit too, so hopefully we can go and get those birthday pictures done and get the invitations made and sent for her party! Be sure to mark you calendars for November 18!!

Kaitlyn also wants to send her Aunt Jamie get well wishes after her oral surgery today! Hope you are feeling better!!

Have a wonderful day!

We're back!! What a day, what a day!

Kaitlyn had her shoot with Gymboree today. The morning started with a little bit of mommy working and Kaitlyn watching the "choo choo" on TV. We then met Grandma at the craft store and picked up some fabric to start on Kaitlyn and Camis Halloween costumes. From there, we dropped off Mommy's car and got on the road!

We got to Petaluma around 1:30 when Mommy realized she made a boo boo and forgot Kaitlyn's work permit and vouchers!! Luckily, Nana came to the rescue and faxed them over so Kaitlyn could still work.

Kaitlyn's call time was 3, but when we arrived, they were already behind. Kaitlyn had a blast playing with the other kids outside. She played dress up, played with her dolly and read stories. Check out the picture page for pictures of the fun times.

Kaitlyn finally got called to wardrobe at 4:30. She wore a long sleeve onesie, denim skirt, sweater, stockings, tennis shoes and a pretty bow. It's Gymboree, so it goes without saying that it was a super cute outfit! It featured different bugs and caterpillers on it. I loved it!

Kaitlyn wasn't on the set until about 5:15. She was in front of a beautiful Christmas tree and got to sit in her favorite thing! A rocking chair!! Not only that, but they gave her specially decorated Christmas cookies. While most of the other talent took 30-40 minutes to get the shot, Kaitlyn was done in 10 minutes. She was happy and smiling and hamming it up. The only thing that really confused her was when they would do a cookie swap. Once she took a couple of bites off of the top of the cookie, in the shape of a Christmas Tree, they would want a fresh cookie. The look she had was priceless. They got some amazing shots!!

Kaitlyn was really good the entire way home and saw Grandpa before we came to see Daddy!

When we got home, we had a message on the machine asking that Kaitlyn go to San Fran on Friday for a casting call for Pottery Barn Kids. I don't know yet if we'll go, but I'll be sure to let you know!

Have a wonderful day and check out the pics!

Well, here we are, another Monday morning. I swear, we are getting too many of these too close together! Time is just flying by!

Yesterday, Kaitlyn went to Mackenzie's 4th Birthday Party and got to go roller skating for the first time ever! She LOVED the skates. She didn't like the rink too much, but really enjoyed rolling and walking around on the carpeted areas. She had a lot of fun!

After we went to Grandma and Grandpa's where Kaitlyn got to play even more! She loved playing in the sand and of course with everyone there!

Kaitlyn officially booked the Gymboree Ad. She shoots tomorrow afternoon in Tomales. It should be a lot of fun and a beautiful day!!

Happy Monday everyone!

Howdy!!

I just want to give a quick update.

Kaitlyn had her speech evaluation on Friday. The speech specialist was really impressed with Kaitlyn's receptive hearing and attention span, citing them in the 3-4 year range. She thinks her actual speech is closer to 12-15 months and has recommended speech therapy. Kaitlyn should start in October. She is also very confident that Kaitlyn's hearing test will come back normal. Very good news and a huge relief to us.

Friday afternoon, Kaitlyn had fun having lunch with Auntie Christy and Cousin Cami. She did some light shopping and then came home to play with Archie and wait for Daddy to get home. She loves her daddy.

We got some great news on Friday! Kaitlyn booked the Gymboree ad!! She went to the audition in July and they kept her file and information handy! She will shoot next week!

On Saturday, Kaitlyn went with Mommy, Daddy, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Cami, Nana and Papa to Denio's, the farmer's market and was such a good girl!! Afterwards, she got to dress like a pirate for her friend Libby's first birthday party! Aunt Jamie was there dressed like a real mermaid!! Uncle Joel was there to have fun with Kaitlyn too!!

After the party, Kaitlyn went to see Nana and Papa and everyone some more before coming home to go right to sleep!

Tomorrow, Kaitlyn gets to spend the day at Grandma and Grandpa's! She will also get to go to her friend Mackenzie's 4th Birthday Party and go skating!! It should be a lot of fun!! Get ready for a HUGE picture update this weekend!!

How about a Miller Family Update?

Last Wednesday Kaitlyn stopped going to bed and sleeping through the night. Since she can so easily get in and out of her toddler bet, she feels her time is best spent tearing her room apart and then wondering why she has to walk on books to get out of there. She started waking up at 3 Am every morning, thinking it was time to wake up for the day. Dusty and I were both exhausted.

On Tuesday, enough was enough. I incorporated a technique from an old Super Nanny show regarding bed time. We put Kaitlyn in her bed, tell her night give her kisses. This is all after an elaborate night time routine of bath, stories, playing, hugs and kisses. She gets out of her bed. We pick up her, say it's time for night night and put her back in her bed. The following times we just simply pick her up and put her back without saying a word. The first night lasted about an hour and a half of crying, whining and throwing things. But, she slept through the night and woke up cheery and happy. The second night we had to put her back only 3 times. The fourth time, she saw me coming, stood up, ran to her bed jumped in and went to sleep. I was pleased.

Kaitlyn had also given up naps. Right now is the first time in 3 days she has taken a nap. I am so happy.

She is cutting molars. She has cut 2 in the past week or two and is working on 2 more. These two will bring the total up to 16!! And they are big, sharp teeth that will do some damage. They are pretty though. She looks like such a big girl.

Dusty and his team won their game in Folsom last night. They have a game tonight, but it's a 9:30 game and that is WAY too late to take Kaitlyn too. I've tried it and it's really hard. So, I am going to visit the craft section of Walmart because I am inspired to create her a new skirt. It'll be a race against time since I want to make it for a party on Saturday.

We have a very busy weekend ahead of us. I'm swamped at work tomorrow, followed by Kaitlyn's appointment. Then on Saturday we are going to a birthday party for Miss Libby's first birthday. Then on Sunday we are going to a skating party for Miss Mackenzie's fourth birthday! Both should be a lot of fun.

I have been hard at work when it comes to Kaitlyn's birthday party! I am really excited by the theme. I am making her a dress to wear for the party, and have the materials, I just have to start on it. I am hoping to finish it next week and then next weekend make the girl's Halloween costumes. Hopefully I can go shopping and get started on Friday and finish by Monday or Tuesday.

Kaitlyn's birthday party will be at Grandma and Grandpa's this year. It was such a sucess last year that it should be fun this year. Look for those invites towards the middle or end of October.

I had Kaitlyn have her pictures made in the overalls I made her. The one I bought doesn't show the whole thing, but I didn't really like the others, and I'm SURE I will get a few of her in them this season! The fit her perfect, I was really happy.

Well, that's enough wasting time! Have a lovely day!

Kaitlyn just had her developmental evaluation.

As I suspected, she passed with flying colors. She scored mainly in the 24-26 month range, but several were in the 26-30 month range. She has great scanning skills, cognitive skills, self help, empathy skills, fine and gross motor skills. Her receptive hearing is great and also in the 24-26 month range.

The only category that was not above average was her speech. For speech, she is the 15-16 month range. Based on this evaluation, she is far enough behind to qualify for speech therapy through the regional center. On Friday, she will have a State Certified Speech specialist that will evaluate her as well. If the evaluation ends the same, she will be issued another person to come in and determine how much therapy Kaitlyn needs. The person today thinks she would benefit from once a week home visits.

So, that?s the update for today on Kaitlyn?s speech therapy.

Kaitlyn turned 22 months today. That means she is only 2 months from the big 2!! I cannot believe how big our princess is getting.

Kaitlyn can now jump nearly 2 inches off the ground, both feet at once. It's a skill she LOVES to show off to anyone and everyone that will watch. She really likes to stomp and dance around and does it with a huge smile that shows just how proud she is of herself. She loves to dance and sing. She tries to sing along with whatever we do!

Kaitlyn has become a total camera hog! She loves to have her picture taken and will bring you the camera, sit in front of you and smile a big cheesy smile!

She is already 35 inches tall and 26 pounds! She has started potty training. If you ask her where she goes potty, she points to her diaper. We are going to get tough on the potty training beginning first thing in the morning!

Kaitlyn has been an amazing little girl. She surprises us everyday with something new and is filled with so much love to give. She has been an amazing gift.

Well, our day started at 3:00 Am this morning. No reason why we had to get up at 3, Kaitlyn woke up and informed us it was time for the day to begin. She excitedly told us as she jumped up and down on the bed saying "Mommy" and "Daddy" over and over and giving us kisses as we hoped for sleep.

Kaitlyn stayed up until 4:45. I had to get up at 5. I'm sleepy.

A little after 6 we got into the car and headed to San Francisco. I had myself an extra large cappuccino that helped some while Kaitlyn decided to sleep the whole way there, lucky girl!

We hit traffic right before the bridge, so we arrived with only a minute to spare. Luckily, the whole studio was backed up, so we had a few minutes to play before work had to start work. Kaitlyn had her picture taken with Christen, a 2 year old little boy that is really cute and a little girl who was 4. Kaitlyn wore a bright pink corduroy ruffle dress white tights and an off white long sleeve onesie. She was so cute! She kept twirling, dancing and jumping. Kaitlyn has figured out how to jump about an inch and a half off the ground. She?s coordinated enough now where she gets both feet off the ground at the same time. It?s so cute to watch!!

After we were done, we got in the car, went through a drive-thru and headed home. Kaitlyn danced to all the songs on the radio, played with her dolly and played ?boo? with me. Then Madonna?s song ?Vogue? came on. I showed Kaitlyn really quick how to ?vogue? and she loved it. She came home and told Daddy ?Voo, Voo?

We finally got a peak at what woke Kaitlyn up at 3. She cut a new molar with another right behind it. It?s a pretty big tooth, so I?m not at all surprised that it woke her up. Unfortunately, she won?t take Tylenol, she just spits it out. Hopefully she?ll take it tonight or some teething tablets.

While we were home, Kaitlyn was playing with her stickers. I couldn?t tell what she had on her hand and assumed it was a dog based on her pronunciation. I asked ?Is that a dog? and she told me ?No, Duck? as clear as day! I was so proud of her!! She also keeps playing with her Elmo toy and singing along with him over and over and over again!

We?re now awaiting the arrival of a vendor so we can go and get Daddy?s car, take it somewhere else and then we should meet Auntie Christy and Cousin Cami at Chuckee Cheese for some good times and yummy food!
