I know some people are curious as to what type of hearing test requires sedation. I stumbled accross this great article that should explain it perfectly!!
Auditory brainstem response (ABR) test
An infant is sleeping or sedated for the ABR. An infant may be sleeping naturally or may have to be sedated for this test. Additionally, older, cooperative children may be tested in a silent environment while they are visually occupied. Tiny earphones are placed in the baby's ear canals. Usually, click-type sounds are introduced through the earphones, and electrodes measure the hearing nerve's response to the sounds. A computer averages these responses and displays waveforms. Because there are characteristic waveforms for normal hearing in portions of the speech range, a normal ABR can predict fairly well that a baby's hearing is normal in that part of the range. An abnormal ABR may be due to hearing loss, but it may also be due to some medical problems or measurement difficulties.
I just put Kaitlyn down for a nap. She fought me tooth and nail. It has been quiet for a couple of minutes, so I figured she was sleeping. I am in the office working and all of a sudden, I heard a "Boo" and a baby giggle!
That little girl climbed over the rail on her toddler bed, climbed down the stairs, climbed over the baby gate, went through the dining room, climbed over the baby gate and "bood" me! She sure does keep me on my toes!
And here's an update on Kaitlyn's speech and hearing. She has a developmental evaluation on Friday. She has to have it to have the speech evaluation. I am sure she'll pass it with flying colors since she counts, knows colors, all of her body parts (even the difference between fingers and hands and toes and feet and hair and head) and has the gross and fine motor skills of a 3 year old.
On Friday, September 22, Kaitlyn has her speech evaluation. They will come over and watch her play for 1-2 hours and see how she speaks and all of that.
On October 18 Kaitlyn will have her Hearing Test. She does have to be sedated. Because she has to be sedated she will be at the hospital for 3 1/2 hours. Her appointment is for 4:00 PM, but we have to get there at 2:00 PM and the earliest she'll be released is 5:30 PM.
I would first like to take time on this day to thank all of our courageous and amazing troops for all that they do to keep us safe. I will never forget the tragic events that took place 5 years ago today, the memories, the fear, the sadness. I know I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to be alive and well and able to celebrate so many wonderful occasions with my family. My thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with the amazing families of the brave who have lost those they love.
Kaitlyn had quite a busy weekend. On Saturday we went out to celebrate Aunt Jamie and Uncle Joel's first wedding anniversary! Nana, Papa, Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Cami and SOOO many more people were there! Kaitlyn was a really good girl and loved being the center of attention!
On Sunday she had lunch with Nana and Papa and helped in the garden. Then, she went and saw Grandma and Grandpa who had just gotten back from their trip! She had a lot of fun playing and eating a lot of watermelon! She colored, chased the kitty and had a mini ice cream cone.
When we were leaving, she did the cutest thing. She had her baby doll and when she said Bye bye, she made the baby doll wave. Then she made the baby doll blow kisses, then she made the baby doll pick her nose. It was hilarious!
Today, Kaitlyn had it pretty easy. She took daddy to work. She went with mommy to a meeting, then to Target for shopping. Kaitlyn went out and about for over 2 hours today without a diaper on and didn't have a single accident!!
Kaitlyn and Camaryn were in the New Star Discovery Pageant. They both did sooo well! I taped everything and have a ton of pictures to upload tomorrow! Cami smiled and acted so flirty with the judges. She placed 2nd runner up in her age, way to go!!! Kaitlyn went on stage and danced and jumped and placed 1st runner up! Both girls won Photogenic Product Placement!! They were beautiful princesses!
Kaitlyn would like to first say Happy Birthday to her Aunt Linda!!
Well, we are officially home, unpacked and well rested. We had a great time and while we would have loved to stay, it sure is nice to be at home in our own beds. I don't think anyone appreciates that more than little miss Kaitlyn. Even though we took all of her bedding, favorite toys, pillows and everything we thought she could want, she still loved being at home.
We were incredibly proud of Kaitlyn. She stayed awake the whole drive home and didn't fuss once. She sang, played and enjoyed yummy treats! You can see quite a few pictures on the picture page!
On Thursday, Kaitlyn went to her daddy's softball game. She made a new friend named Avery and loved playing peek a boo with her. Kaitlyn would hide and then run out and say boo. This is her all time favorite game!!
We are noticing a definate improvement with our little misses speech. She is saying more words, like "dar" for there, "done", "dog", "town", "vroom" "choo", "up" and "down" and is copying what we say a lot more often. She has started to speak in some 2 word sentences. She will say "ya mommy" or "no mommy" or "more daddy" and greet us with our appropriate titles. Hopefully, with her tongue completely healed she should be picking up a lot more soon. She loves to sing and has started to sing the last verse of Wheels on the Bus with us "All Around the tooooowwwwnnn" and today I caught her signing with Elmo on Sesame Street!
Kaitlyn's speech therapist has been assigned to her through Alta Vista. They should be scheduling an appointment for sometime this month to take care of her evaluation. We had a phone call while we were gone to schedule her hearing test and will be able to schedule it on Tuesday.
While in Reno, my cell phone was stolen or misplaced. So, I cannot be reached by cell phone. We were out and about yesterday so I missed the call about her having a booking for Monday. So, she should be back to work next week.
Last night Kaitlyn got to see Cami for the first time since we've been back. Let me tell you, she was sooo excited!! Kaitlyn played with Cami, loved her and kissed her. She went shopping with Auntie Christy and Nana and got the cutest pageant outfit. Cami got a new pageant outfit too that is really super cute! Let me tell ya, these are going to be some well dressed little girls!
Tonight, Kaitlyn is going with everyone out to dinner to celebrate Aunt Jamie and Uncle Joel's First Wedding Anniversary! Their wedding was the first Kaitlyn ever went to!! Here is a picture of her at the wedding last year:
Tomorrow, Kaitlyn's grandma and grandpa will be back in town and we will all catch up at dinner!!
Hello Everyone! We are still in Reno. Kaitlyn's daddy is out with Auntie Christina and Brian while Kaitlyn relaxes and watches TV!
Our trip started on Monday morning. First, we had breakfast with Nana and Papa. Then, we went and loaded up the big Penske truck for the drive up to Reno. Kaitlyn fell asleep before we could even leave West Sacramento. About 45 minutes into the trip Kaitlyn woke up. She was so excited to be sitting in such a big truck and able to see so much of what was going on. Traffic was perfect, it only took an hour and a half for us to get to Reno.
Once we got here, we checked into our room at the Silver Legacy. Mommy and Kaitlyn were super hungry so we went to eat. After a late lunch, we got all of our luggage and went to the room to start unpacking! Who knew we brought so much stuff??
After we unpacked and got some relaxation in, we went to Circus Circus. Kaitlyn LOVED it! She was a huge fan of the circus acts and of course the games. Her favorite game was the ring toss game where you try and get the rings onto the glass coke bottles. After we won a bunch of toys we headed to the room. We ordered room service for dinner. After we ate we went to sleep. Kaitlyn was too excited to sleep, but luckily we eventually persuaded her to.
Tuesday started bright and early for daddy. He had to go to work. Kaitlyn and Mommy went to a yummy breakfast and then went to meet him. We did some walking around and visited everyone. It had been a year since many people saw Kaitlyn and they couldn't believe how big she was!
We had lunch with Dusty and then we got the phone call Aftdthat Auntie Christina and Brian were there. We helped them get checked in. Auntie Christina and Daddy had to go back to work and Kaitlyn fell asleep. Kaitlyn took a really good, long nap. When she woke up she got dressed and we all went to a really nice dinner at a place called "Roxy" After dinner we returned to Circus Circus.
We had another fun night of prizes and tickets and having a great time. We returned to our room where we tried to talk Kaitlyn into sleeping. She decided she had won way too many games to go to sleep. After a LOT of persuading she finally did.
This morning started bright and early. Daddy went to work while mommy and Kaitlyn got ready. We then met Daddy and Auntie Christina and Brian for breakfast. After a yummy meal we went for a walk along the strip to do some shopping. Kaitlyn fell asleep so we brought her back to the room to nap.
After some good napping, we all got ready and went out to eat again! We had a delicious dinner. Then we went to Circus Circus. Kaitlyn played the game where you throw the balls into the pool of water that is moving in an attempt to get the ball into a small colored bowl. She did it! She hit a red bowl and won a flower! Daddy won Kaitlyn about a thousand tickets in one shot, so he picked out some cool things for Kaitlyn and Camaryn.
We're now in the room again. Kaitlyn is putting her animals to bed and I'm talking to her about sleeping. We've taken a ton of pictures that I cannot wait to share when we get back!
Tomorrow night we will probably go to Daddy's game. After that we will be able to upload pictures and nap.
Kaitlyn would first like to wish Archie, her bestest puppie in the whole wide world a very happy 3rd Birthday!
Archie and Kaitlyn have become fast and wonderful friends. They love to play together. Kaitlyn's favorite is chasing Archie around. She knows he hates it, but doesn't dare stop. Her favorite is to ride her pony on a stick and chase him. When she sees him, she gets so excited and starts laughing so hard that she falls down and has to start all over again!
Archie doesn't have it so rough, he has someone to get into trouble with, someone to help him break down the baby gates and someone to feed him under the table. Plus, he has an assistant. At anytime if Archie's food bowl is empty, Kaitlyn will pick it up, take it to the storage closet, open the door, open his food container and fill it, little handful by little handful. She is such a good girl!
Here are some pictures of Kaitlyn and Archie through the course of their friendship:
Kaitlyn has had a great week! She recovered from her brief illness and went to Daddy's game on Thursday. Cami was there and the two of them had a lot of fun playing with another little boy. Kaitlyn is a rough and tough little girl and LOVES to run, jump, climb and play tag. She had a ball.
On Friday, Kaitlyn had lunch with Papa, Nana, Auntie Christy and cousin Cami. They did a good job of wearing her out because when I went to get her she fell fast asleep. Later that night, Kaitlyn went with Mommy and Daddy to Denny's for dinner. We were both so incredibly proud of her. She has mastered using silverware. She doesn't get even one kernal of food on the ground. She likes to use her napkin. She takes a bite, then she wipes her face.
On Saturday we all had a lazy morning and then got ready for the fair! It was so much fun this year! Kaitlyn had a blast! She was so excited by everything and kept saying "ooohhh" and "awwwwee" while pointing, squeling, clapping and giggling. She found her favorite goat. She kept pointing at him and saying "mine" and wouldn't let any other kids pet him. She petted his nose really gently and blew him kisses. She didn't like the "heifer" goats with the big horns one bit! She was a bit scared of them! She had her first frozen lemonade. At first, she didn't like it, then she refused to share! Her absolute favorite part of the fair was the monorail! She loved it!! She pointed everything out to us and had such a good time on it!
Here are some of our favorite pictures from the fair!

Kaitlyn was really tired from the fair and fell asleep as soon as she got in the car. We came home, she slept, she played, she ate and we went shopping for new shoes! Kaitlyn's feet have really been growing. She is already up another size. She was a good girl while shopping so she got a Subway sandwich and LOVED it!
Today is pretty unplanned, which is a nice change. So far, it's a lazy morning. This afternoon we will be going to Grandma and Grandpa's, it is Sunday afterall. We have some packing to do and some errands to run. Tomorrow we leave for Reno. I think Kaitlyn is going to LOVE Circus Circus and there are going to be so many kids there to play with in the kid's room she's going to have a blast! Grandma even bought Kaitlyn her very first sleeping bag. It even blows up. I'm sure she'll love it on top of the cot!
Everyday you see more and more of a big girl in Kaitlyn. Her favorite game is to scare daddy. If he isn't looking at her, she'll whisper to you "daddy" then she'll put her finger to her lips and say "shhhh". They'll sneak up on him, go in front of him and scream while jumping on him. When she's done laughing she'll yell "Boo" and laugh some more. It is the cutest thing to watch!
Kaitlyn's speech seems to be improving. She has learned the "e" and she "sh" sound. Both are amazing improvements considering she hasn't even started speech therapy lessons yet. Hopefully, she'll be talking up a storm in no time!
Kaitlyn loves mirrors! I have no idea which Aunt she could have possibly got that from. Not one of them love mirrors hee hee. Kaitlyn likes to take handheld mirrors and look at herself in them. Most of the time she likes to do funny faces. Her favorite face to make is one where her eyes are squeezed nearly shut. She squinches up her nose and shows her teeth. She'll do that face and then crack up laughing. She's such a doll.
As you may of noticed, Kaitlyn's had a few ads out recently. In case you missed any of them, here they are!

And, here are some pictures Uncle Dean just e-mailed to us from Aunt Barbara's camera!
I hope that we have a chance to update again before we leave. If not, have a safe and wonderful week! I'm sure there will be a nice long update with about a gazillion pics when we return!
Kaitlyn would first like to wish her Auntie Christy and Uncle Dennis a happy anniversary!!
She hopes they have many many more to come!
Kaitlyn seems to be feeling better today. She is super duper cranky and could probably use a lot more rest, but the constant diaper changes are over, and the sniffles seem to be gone.
I'm sure we'll have more to update as the day progresses!!
Compared to weeks prior, this one hasn't left us with too much to update with.
Kaitlyn's tongue is all healed. She can eat and drink like normal now. She has started to use it more. She has realized she can actually stick it out! Dusty and I have snuck a peak here and there to see it. It's amazing how much they cut, no wonder she couldn't talk :(
Kaitlyn's ENT's assistant called today. Her insurance finally approved the hearing test as of today. We should have a phone call this week with what day we are scheduled as well as receiving a packet. We don't know yet how long she'll be at the hospital, hopefully not more than a few hours. They will sedate her, put teeny microphones in her ears and electrodes on her head. I don't think she's going to like it.
Kaitlyn isn't feeling good today. She's sleeping now, but she has had awful diarrhea all day. She also has a runny nose and a slight cough. Hopefully she'll better when she wakes up from her nap. She hasn't eaten anything all day :( Her diapers are filled with corn from yesterdays lunch though which has NOT been pretty.
Tonight is Kaitlyn's daddy's softball game. Hopefully Kaitlyn will feel well enough to go. Her Uncle Joel is on the team now too, so it would be a lot of fun to watch him play!
This is the first chance I've had to update Kaitlyn's website since the festivities! We had the absolute best weekend!!
Friday night we worked really hard at doing some set up and errands for Camaryn's birthday party. While we worked (as in Mommy, Auntie Christy, Aunt Jamie, Nana, Daddy, Uncle Dennis, Uncle Joel and Papa) Camaryn and Kaitlyn played and played hard! They were so cute together, as always!!
Saturday morning started nice and early. Kaitlyn woke up and went with Mommy to Uncle Dennis and Aunt Christy's house. We unloaded and then got back in the car to run a couple of last minute errands. The day was a busy one. Aunt Barbara, Uncle Dean and Uncle Ray were all in town! Kaitlyn loved the attention. She got to wear her tropical princess outfit and play with all the kids. Camaryn was such a beautiful Birthday Girl! She was stunning! She was so good the entire time. She did a number on her cake and made for some super cute pictures! She was so good and even shared with Kaitlyn, who was very happy!
Kaitlyn and Camaryn both even got to hit the pinata Kaitlyn's Aunt Beth made. It was a very pretty pinata, it matched the party perfectly!
Camaryn opened her presents like a pro and was so happy with all that she got. She really did make out!
Camaryn was so happy to be surrounded by so many people that love her. There were quite a few people there and we were all happy to be a part of such an incredible and amazing day. We love you Camaryn!!
Here are some of the pictures from my camera from the special day! Aunt Jamie has plenty more and there was a professional photographer so we should have those pictures up soon as well.
Just click on the picture to see the beautiful birthday girl, her mommy and daddy and all of the gorgeous decorations!
Sunday was a lot of fun! Nana cooked a BIG breakfast and Kaitlyn got to hang out with Camaryn, Uncle Ray, Uncle Dennis, Uncle Dean, Daddy, Aunt Barbara, Aunt Christy, Nana, Papa, Kristine, Shawn, Mommy and of course Archie!! Kaitlyn loved her breakfast, but loved playing even more!!
After breakfast we went to Uncle Dennis and Aunt Christy's house to help clean up. That basically meant the grown-ups all clean and the babies make more of a mess. It was a lot of fun! We even got to see Aunt Jamie and Uncle Joel!!
After all of that fun, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's. Kaitlyn was really glad that they were back from their trip. She played with the hose, the doggies and everyone that was around!
Kaitlyn did decide at Grandma and Grandpa's that it would be fun to grab a hold of a little cactus. Before we could stop her, she squeezed it! She was not at all happy. Luckily, Daddy and Grandma were able to get all of the itty bitty needles out of her hands. Then she had some milk and was happy again!!
After grandma and grandpa's we went to nana and papa's to see Uncle Ray one more last time before he had to fly back home. Kaitlyn kept running and telling him HI! It was really cute!!
Kaitlyn really loves her Uncle Ray and looks forward to many more visits!
This morning, Auntie Christina took Kaitlyn to San Francisco for a booking with Mervyn's. She wore a tan cord skirt and pink shirt I've been told! She did very good and is on her way home now!!
Tomorrow night, we are going with Uncle Dennis, Aunt Christy, Camaryn, Aunt Jamie and Uncle Joel to the River Cat's game!! It's going to be a lot of fun! Then on Wednesday we are going to Daddy's softball game! Uncle Joel joined the team too! On Thursday, another softball game. Then on Friday night we are having family pictures taken with Aunt Christy, Uncle Dennis, Nana, Papa and Camaryn! I'm sure they'll be great.
We get to relax this weekend and then on Monday we go on vacation!! I'm sure it's going to be a great week!!
Kaitlyn would first like to wish her cousin Cami a very happy birthday!! Happy First Birthday Camaryn! May it be incredibly special and followed by many, many more! One year ago today, after sitting through the night with Auntie Christy, Kaitlyn became a big cousin! It was a happy day for all of us and the beginning of a beautiful friendship for 2 very young girls. Camaryn has been an amazing part of our family and we are so glad to be able to celebrate her birthday with her!
Kaitlyn had a blast on Thursday night at Daddy's softball game! She got to play and play on the playground. She made new friends, but had the most fun playing on the bars!! She was so adventurous, swinging so high!
Daddy played a really good game and his team won! To celebrate Kaitlyn got to have a milk shake!
Friday morning, Kaitlyn went to San Francisco for a Mervyn's shoot. Kaitlyn wore jammies that were so soft and fuzzy. The only problem was, she was to be barefoot in a pile of leaves. Most of you know, Kaitlyn DOES NOT like anything to touch her bare feet. She freaked out and I didn't want to push her. She had a back up there and so her back up gladly played in the leaves! Kaitlyn was glad to put shoes on.
Kaitlyn spent the evening helping prepare for Cami's big birthday party! It's going to be so much!
Kaitlyn has been called back to San Francisco on Monday for another Mervyn's shoot.
Today will be so much fun! Kaitlyn can see Uncle Ray, Aunt Barbara and Uncle Dean! She gets to party harty with a bunch of friends and relatives and even have birthday cake! Sunday her grandma and grandpa will be home from their trip and I am sure Kaitlyn will be super, duper excited to see them!!
Have a great weekend! And Happy First Birthday Camaryn!!!
Kaitlyn had her first speech therapy appointment today.
I was unaware that the building for outpatient rehabilitation is the same building that Grandpa Calvin was in. It was a bit weird going back there for something other than a visit.
Kaitlyn behaved well. She was a bit shy and apprehensive about talking. She did not like that the therapist wanted her to talk. The therapist tried things like getting Kaitlyn to say bubble, and repeating the same phrase over and over hoping she'd fill in the last word. She did some pretend play with Kaitlyn and tried really hard to get her talking. This was really just the evaluation.
The therapist does believe that Kaitlyn needs therapy to work with her talking skills. She recommended twice per week. She actually recommended that we not do it through them and instead with a community resource who could do it at home and more often. When we got home we called Alta Regional Center for Early Intervention who said they would assign us a worker and schedule us for an evaluation within 1 month.
So, we are now waiting for that.
On a positive note, we are all ready for Camaryn's birthday!! The presents are finished and wrapped. Our outfits are finished, pressed and hanging in the closet. Cupcakes are made and freezing in the freezer. All that's left is the party!! Yay!!
With Kaitlyn visiting her nana, I thought this would be a great time for an update!
Kaitlyn became a little stubborn yesterday and decided to teach me a lesson. Normally I like for her to take a nap around 11:30. Well, she wasn't acting tired, so I waited. At about 1:45, I asked Kaitlyn if she wanted to take a nap. She told me "noooooo" while wildly shaking her head. Well, I told her that it was time for a nap. I took her upstairs and put her in her bed. I walked back down stairs. She was fussing, but I decided to wait about 5-10 minutes before checking on her. Within a couple of minutes I heard someone playing with Archie. I went into the living room and there was Kaitlyn. She climbed out of her bed, over the baby gate upstairs, went down the stairs, climbed over that baby gate started to play with Archie and turned on the TV!
Within 5 minutes she was snoozing on the floor in the living room. So, I carried her up to bed where she slept until daddy got home.
Kaitlyn did make some speech progress yesterday. She started to say "nose" and "star" so that it was understandable. The "st" noise is much harder with a tongue problem, so I am very proud of her! She seems more confident and is trying to make different sounds now. She is using her tongue a lot more.
Kaitlyn has her first speech therapy appointment in the morning. I am confident it will go well!! As soon as we are back, we'll let you know!
Today, Kaitlyn was being really good. She played, and colored and practiced playing with her tongue. Her nana stopped by to see what cousin Cami's present looked like and Kaitlyn decided to go and play with Nana for a little while. When her daddy gets home we are going to go and see her and go visit with Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis and Cami!!
Tomorrow night is Daddy's softball game, which should be a LOT of fun! Then, on Friday, Aunt Barbara, Uncle Dean and Uncle Ray will all be here and it'll be so much fun!! Saturday is Camaryn's big day!! Be sure to visit her site at CamarynSanchez.com to wish her a happy birthday!!!
Kaitlyn saw the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist at 11:15 this morning. She was a very good girl and loved having the nurse check her pulse.
The doctor was incredibly nice, understanding and informative. He explained that the rule of thumb is to have 1 cm of movement with the tongue in all directions. Kaitlyn is right at 1 cm. Well, she was. The doctor explained that the tongue could be part of the problem with the speech and allowed me to make the decision. I opted to have the tongue clipped to ensure that she does not encounter problems with it later on. Since it is a relatively easy procedure, we were also given the option to have it done then, or to wait. I opted to have it done then. A nurse helped me hold Kaitlyn against me while the doctor used a numbing cream to numb the tongue area. Then, he gave her a shot under the tongue to thoroughly numb it. Then, he used scissors and clipped the tongue membrane free from the base of her mouth to allow movement. Kaitlyn was not at all happy about being held still. After a couple of minutes of "luv" time, she was back to giggling and playing.
The doctor did refer us to another hospital. He thinks there is a possibility that Kaitlyn may be suffering from some hearing loss. He believes that it would be a very limited amount of hearing loss. While I do not believe there is, he stated that there could and it would be something I wouldn't be able to notice yet it would still affect her.
Kaitlyn is going to have to be put under sedation for a dual hearing test. Both tests will monitor what sound waves are being echoed through her ears and how her brain is interpreting them. Once the test is complete we will have the results within a week to determine where we go from there. Regardless, Kaitlyn will be starting Speech Therapy on Thursday to get a jump start on treatment.
On a lighter note, Kaitlyn had a terrific weekend!! She visited with Auntie Christy, Uncle Dennis, Cousin Camaryn, Nana and Papa on Friday night while her Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Dennis and Aunt Christy worked on the tiki bar. She visited more on Saturday morning and even helped Auntie Christy water all the plants! On Saturday night she went with Mommy, Aunt Beth and Grandma to do some shopping for Halloween and Camaryn's Big Luau!! Then she had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa before they left for their big camping trip. On Sunday she played more with Camaryn and Camaryn's cousin Martina! Kaitlyn had so much fun!!
Tonight, depending on how Kaitlyn is doing, we will probably go and visit some more! We are all really looking forward to the Huge birthday party! Kaitlyn can't wait to see so many important people on Friday, like Cousin Ray who is flying in all the way from Seattle, and Aunt Barbara and Uncle Dean who are coming all the way up from San Jose for the weekend! She's excited because she might even get to see Cousin Ashley, Nikki and Adrian!!
I can't believe it! Our Little Princess is already 21 months old!! Time has been going by way too fast! I'm always amazed both when I look at the calendar and when I look at Kaitlyn!! She has grown so much. She's become such a beautiful, inspiring little one.
Kaitlyn loves to play by herself. She has really started to enjoy imaginative play. She likes to wear her purse and take her baby in her stroller for a walk and tell us all bye and then try to open the door. She loves to talk on the telephone. Her favorite is tea time with Archie. She pours him a cup of tea. Because we've explained that he doesn't drink from a cup, she uses a spoon to spoon feed him the tea. After each sip, she throws her head back and then down and says "dar" for there.
Kaitlyn loves to help. She'll pick up all of her toys and put them away. She'll clean up after her bath. If you give her a baby wipe, she'll dust everything she can reach. When she spills, she demands a towel so she can scrub the carpet to clean it. If she finishes eating first, she'll pick up our forks and feed us. If she think Camaryn hasn't had enough to eat or drink, she'll be sure to give it to her! When Cami falls, she tries really hard to pick her back up. Of course, there is only a couple of pounds difference between the two, so that proves to be a challenge.
Kaitlyn has such a great personality. She is full of life. She has quirky facial expressions, dramatic flair and a very idea of how things should be done. Dusty and I are so incredibly proud of her and everything that she is. She brings so much sunshine and life into our days. She is the epitome of a perfect and fun toddler.
We have decided that today is the day to start potty training. Kaitlyn is far past ready. If anyone has any advice, tips or suggestions, please don?t hesitate to clue us in! I?m hoping for an easy transition for her!
With Kaitlyn only 3 months away from the big 2, we've started planning her birthday party. We've decided to go with a French Poodle Theme. We are using cream poodles and the colors are Chocolate Brown and fluffy light pink. I think we are just about decided on having the party at Grandma and Grandpa's house so there is plenty of room to run around and have fun!! You should see all of the neat treasures we've already found!!
We've also decided on Kaitlyn's Halloween Costume!! I am making it myself! Kaitlyn is going to be a witch. I am confident in my ability to make her costume and it's going to be gorgeous. Shimmery, blacks, purples, feathers and a whole lot of fun! I can't wait to get started on it!
Kaitlyn has a fun and exciting week planned! On Monday she will meet with the ENT to check out her tongue. On Wednesday she is going to help Mommy bake for Cami's birthday party. On Thursday she is going to Daddy's softball game to cheer him on!! On Friday her Uncle Ray is flying in and she gets to see him AND go to Uncle Dennis and Aunt Christy's. On Saturday, it's the birthday party of the year! She'll get to visit with Uncle Ray, Uncle Dennis, Aunt Christy, Camaryn, Aunt Barbara, Uncle Dean, and so many, many more!! It's going to be so much fun!!
Thank you all for visiting Kaitlyn's site so often. I love reading her "log" book to see who has been here! Keep the comments coming, I really enjoy reading them all to Kaitlyn at the end of the day!
Kaitlyn got to go with her Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Dennis and Papa to the River Cat's game.
Kaitlyn sat with her Papa while her Mommy, Daddy and Uncle Dennis went on the first food run. While they were gone, the National Anthem came on. Kaitlyn stood next to her Papa with her hand on her heart for the whole song!! She's a patriotic little bug!
Kaitlyn enjoyed her fries and pretzel nearly as much as her water. She was so incredibly good for the entire game. She didn't cry once, didn't fuss and stayed right in the seats. She didn't even want to go into the booth, she was very interested in the game. She meowed at Dinger, played with Uncle Dennis and Mommy, and clapped to her hearts content. She made her Mommy and Daddy very proud!
Here are some of the pictures from the game:
Kaitlyn's first speech therapy appointment was scheduled for today. The therapist had to cancel because she is pregnant and was put on bed rest. So, instead we are going to go and see Daddy for lunch! The therapist's office did assure me that they will call me as soon as she is back in the office to ensure we can get Kaitlyn started right away!
AND, Kaityn was chosen for Old Navy fit modeling!! Yay Princess!!
