6/8/09: I'm officially a preschool graduate! Holy Cross graduation was today! It was very exciting...we got to sing a song that represented each of the months of the school year, and then we got our "diplomas". I was voted the class "Computer Expert", and my teacher, Mrs. Byard, said I was a "future technology guy." Mommy cried...she's so silly! After the ceremony, I got to go to breakfast with Mommy, Daddy, Mom-O, and Grandpa. Onto "kildergarten" I go!
4/25/09: Today was my very first baseball game! Well, ok, so it was t-ball...and we used a wiffle ball instead of a regular one...but you get the idea! I love hitting and playing 1st base...that's where all the action is. I'm not really interested in having to tackle my teammates to field the ball in all the other positions. Mommy, Daddy, Mom-O, Dziadziu, and Grandpa came to watch, and everyone was very proud...we even went for ice cream afterwards!
1/6/09: Today I had my very first swimming class! Since Mommy isn't a great swimmer, she wanted me to make sure I learned early. And I had a great time! My friend Josh is in my class, so I wasn't nervous going into the water by myself. I'm a very fast swimmer already...and this was only the first session of an 8-week program. I'm not too keen on putting my face into the water yet, though...that's not going to be much fun. But I'll work on it!
11/29/08: I have a brand new cousin!! Christopher Jonathan (CJ) Wolchok was born at 3:02 this morning! He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long. I think he kind of looks like me, but with less hair. I'm really looking forward to seeing him soon...I have lots of stuff for him!
11/9/08: Today I went to my very first movie! We went to see Madagascar 2 with our neighbors Jennifer, Steve, Elijiah, Bella, Brylee, and Gabriel. I really liked it! I sat like a good boy for the whole time...except when we needed a refill on our popcorn. And I thought that the seats were so cool because each had its own cup holder! I can't wait until we go again!!
10/31/08: Happy Halloween! Now that I'm 4, I really understand what it's all about, and I had a blast! I got to dress up as a dinosaur...a happy one, not a scary one. We had a parade and party at school so I could see all of my friends in their costumes. Aunt Kara, Uncle John, Cailynn, and Great-Aunt Linda came over to visit and brought me treats. Then I ate pizza and went trick-or-treating with Owen and his family, Uncle Mark, and Mom-O...and of course Mommy and Daddy. I even remembered to say thank you to the people who gave me candy!
Yesterday, Cailynn and I dresssed up and had Halloween dress rehearsal at Grandpa's house. Dziadziu and Grandpa gave me some really cool stuff when I rang the doorbell and said "Trick or Treat!"
10/7/08: So I had my 4-year well visit this morning. I'm still a peanut! Ready for this?
34.2lbs, 40 inches!!!
Dr. Calon said that I did have a growth spurt this year...I went from the 25th percentile in both height and weight, to just under the 50th percentile. I could've told her that...judging by how short my pants have been getting, I knew already!
Apparently I'm developmentally at the level of a 4 1/2 year old...I could do things that they test for at the 5-year well visit, so Mommy and Daddy were really excited about that!
I do need to start eating my veggies though...even if Mommy and Daddy have to hide them in things. And I'm due to go to the dentist as well, so Mommy will be making that appointment soon.
They surprised me and stuck me with 3 immunizations!! NOT COOL!! I got my DTap (tetanus booster), the polio vaccine, and the flu shot. And when I go for my routine bloodwork, they'll check my immunity levels to MMR, and I may or may not have to have that booster as well. (cross your fingers for NOT!)
So there's the update...vision and hearing are perfect (Darn, that blew my cover...now they know I'm just pretending not to listen!!)...but overall, thank God for a good check-up!
10/5/08: Okay, okay, so Mommy slacked off and missed my entire 3rd year! I've been keeping her very busy...between preschool, playdates, and other things, who has time for updating?
It's been a great year since I last checked in. I'm already in my second year of preschool at Holy Cross, and I've learned so much. I've made tons of friends too!
I talk like I'm 20 years old, and have a very active imagination. I know everything there is to know about cars (makes, models, everything!), and I love watching cartoons. I'm an ace at my Wii too...I'm currently the family champion at bowling spares! I know all of my letters, can count to 30, can cut a straight line with scissors, and am starting to write my name. I even know my address and phone number!
I got to have 2 birthday parties this year for my 4th birthday...one was bowling with my friends, and the other was having my family over to my house. I'm so lucky!
Check back every now and then to see what I'm up to...I promise to keep Mommy in line!
9/19/06: I had my 2-year doctor's appointment today. I'm still only in the 10th percentile...24.14 lbs and 33 1/4 inches. Dr. Shah is happy with how well I'm talking...but he did say I have to start eating my vegetables. Oh well! He also said that I can start learning about how to use the potty if I want to...although I'm not sure about that yet. And I got one shot...for hepatitis...I didn't cry at all, until I poked at the injection site and a little blood came out...then I freaked!
I don't have to go back for another checkup now until next year! Wow!
9/18/06: One more party today! I had my playgroup friends over this morning to celebrate a little more...Ryan, Jake, Emma, and Mackenzie. They bought me some really cool presents, and we had cupcakes. (Yes, I had even more cupcakes!) They got to see my swingset for the first time too, and we all played on it and in my sandbox for a while. I always have such a good time with them! After they left, Aunt Kristy stayed and had lunch with me, but then she had to go home too...on an airplane...Mommy and I were very sad.
We both took naps in the afternoon...after a weekend of partying, wouldn't you??
9/17/06: My birthday weekend continues! Today Papa Ron, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came to visit, along with Dziadziu, Carmela, Grandpa, and Uncle Mark again. Aunt Kristy even came all the way from Cincinnati to see me! I played even more, blew out another candle, ate more cupcakes, and opened more presents. I am such a lucky boy! The Giants even won their game today...I cheered for them and everything. (I'm not sure Daddy appreciated that much...since I'm really supposed to be a Jets fan...but it was fun anyway!)
I sure love my family...and I got to see them all this weekend. I just wish Uncle Chris and Aunt Kim were here, and that would be everyone!!
9/16/06: IT'S MY
2nd BIRTHDAY! I had a great day. This morning Mommy, Daddy, Metzmom, and Grandpa Dave came into my room singing "Happy Birthday"...so I was in a good mood right from the start. Then Mom-O, Poppy, and Uncle Mark came over too and we had fun all day...and even made homemade pizzas. Boy, that Grandpa Dave can cook! I got to open a bunch of cool presents...I even got special gifts in the mail from my friend Sophia in NY and my friend Naomi in Colorado. And I blew out my birthday candle all by myself! Mommy made me a tower of homemade cupcakes...they were so good!
Boy, I'm tired...and there's even more fun to be had tomorrow!
9/12/06: My 2nd birthday present arrived yesterday! Mommy, Daddy, all of my grandparents and great-grandparents and uncles all put their money together and bought me a brand new swingset...made just for me!!! I have been playing on it since early this morning...right after the nice men who delivered it put it all together for me. I'm so happy!!!
And while Dziadziu and I were swinging together, he helped me recite the whole alphabet. I repeated every single letter after he said it...with no mistakes!! Everyone was so proud of me!!
8/31/06: I am so excited! Today my friend Sophia and I got to go to Sesame Place for the first time! It was such a great day. We got to meet Elmo! Mommy thought I would cry, but I ran right to him and gave him the biggest hug. Our mommies had a hard time getting us away from him. Our daddies tooks us on a ride, and then our mommies took us on a ride too. We all went on a BIG water slide together...that was scary, and the water was so cold, but I was a trooper and smiled and laughed most of the way down. We ate lots of good food, I got a Sesame Place sweatshirt, and I was passed out in my car seat before we even got out of the parking lot.
The most fun part was that Sophia and her family had slept over the night before, so I got to play with her a lot. I wish they lived closer to us. I know Mommy does too.
8/26/06: Today I counted to 10 all by myself!! No one knew I even could that!!
8/11/06: Today Mommy, Grandma (who I'm now calling "Mom-O"), and Uncle Mark took me to the county fair. It was so exciting!! I got to ride a real pony for the first time! His name was Rosco, and I petted him and even said "thank you" afterwards. Grandma took me for my first merry-go-round ride, and Uncle Mark went with me on the Dizzy Dinosaur ride, where I kept spinning us in a circle until he got nauseous. That was fun! Then Mommy and I went down the big slide...she and I yelled "Whee!" all the way down, and when it was all finished, I jumped up and said "More!" I also got to play a fun fishing game...I caught a few sharks and won two prizes...a big blue ball and a plastic gun. (Mommy's not sure that gun is coming in the house though...ha ha ha!) Anyway, I got to eat chicken nuggets and french fries, and Grandma bought me ice cream. What a great day!!!
7/3/06: I went bowling for the first time today! It was Uncle Mark's birthday, so we all took him to play a few games. I loved it...except that I got very frustrated that I couldn't lift my own ball and throw it myself. So I did cry a few times...how embarrassing!!
4/24/06: I got my very first pet today!! Mommy and Daddy took me to PetSmart this morning, and after we spent some time looking at the birds and lizards and hamsters and guinea pigs, we picked out my very own betta fish. We got him a bowl and some rocks and a little fake plant. He seems happy in his new home already!
He's very pretty and has a fancy tail. We named him Bruce. (well, when Mommy and Daddy asked me what we should name him, I answered "Boo"...so Bruce was close enough!)
4/23/06: Today was a milestone for all the boys...I got my first bloody lip today! I was playing at Papa Ron's for Easter, and I dropped something on the floor by the glass coffee table. When I bent down to pick it up, I banged my face on the corner of the table...it cut the outside of my bottom lip, and my teeth took a bite out of the inside of it too. OUCH! It was bleeding and I was screaming. But a few minutes and a pretzel later, I was feeling fine and back on the run. :-)
3/16/06: I'm 18 months old today...and I had my 18-month doctor's appointment too! Right on schedule. I'm still TINY...21 lbs, 8 1/2 oz, and 31 3/4 inches. But Dr. Shah says as long as I'm eating well and running around, I'm just fine. Hey, what's wrong with a good metabolism?? Mommy and Daddy are jealous. :-)
Dr. Shah just said I have to work on learning some more words. So look out everyone, I'll be talking your ears off in no time!
