March 12, 2008 Another great day in sunny Florida! Lily has been begging to go to the beach, so we planned to go yesterday. However, plans changed when Ricky found out he had a late day. As I mentioned before, Riley does NOT like leaving the beach! So after a heart to heart sit down talk, he agreed to be a good boy and leave when it was time. "Otay mommy. I be good boy!" I wasn't sure if he knew what he was saying, but I thought I would give it ONE more try! Sooooo.....I packed up the bus and headed out. I was so thankful that there were plenty of parking spots open. I cannot stand having to drive in circles stalking the people leaving looking for a spot. It never fails that the family I find leaving is driving a wind up toy sized car and I have to maneuver the bus into the smallest spot EVER! All the time I hear Lily and Riley saying "Are we there yet? Just park mommy!" So I turn up Hannah Montana (oh yeah!), and ignore them. Don't they know how stressful it is to park the bus?!? Anyway, today there were tons of spots. I dragged two kids, three beach chairs, two pails filled with toys, super heavy backpack, and a plastic dump truck down to the water's edge. Did I mention that Ricky was SUPPOSED to come along? However, when we did get all our stuff unloaded, we noticed everyone staring into the ocean. We soon saw the most beautiful site, a family of dolphins. Well, that just made the whole trip down there worth it. There were 5 or 6 of them and they were maybe 50 feet off shore. It was just breathtaking. Everyone there stopped and watched. This particular group hung out all morning. We saw them the entire time we were there. Amazing.... Then it was time to eat lunch. I actually packed some sandwiches today so we could stay and eat in our chairs. I get out the pb&j and hand one off to Lily. As I turn to get Riley's out of the bag, I hear a scream from Lily. I look over and she is stunned, and the sandwich is GONE! Then about twenty birds flock over us. All I can think is, "Please don't poop on me, please don't poop on me!", but then I notice that they are fighting over Lily's sandwich. I know I'm a good cook, but come on! The bird swiped the sandwich right out of her hand! So, we decided to head up to the pavillion and finish lunch. Lily handled it very well and continued to reprimand ALL birds the rest of the time we were there. All in all, it was a great day! Riley kept his promise and left the beach like a good boy. He was so excited to tell daddy that he was a good boy today. Ricky is SUPPOSED to have an early day again today, so we are going to try and head up to the beach again. I will update pics tonight with some new beach pics! Have a great day!
March 10, 2008 We are having so much fun down in sunny Florida. We started out our trip with a two day stay in Orlando which included a fun filled day at Disney. They absolutely LOVED it!!! Lily loved getting to meet the princesses and her favorite ride was the tea cups. Riley's favorite character was Pluto ( Gog Gog) and he liked riding the safari ride. After Disney, we headed on down to Sarasota. The weather is beautiful and the kids are having so much fun going to the park and the beach. Ricky has been busy at the field every day, working hard! We are so thankful for the opportunity to come down here and support him! GO DADDY! Lily is really missing her friends at home. She has become a pro at making friends at the beach and the park. She has made many friends and become quite the social butterfly. She misses school and gymnastics tremendously. She has had a hard time with not having a schedule every day, but she is getting better. She is definitely a beach girl at heart, and loves being down there. Riley is becoming quite the big boy since we've been down here. The biggest difference is NO MORE SHOUSHA! He left them for the shousha fairy who took them to his cousin, baby Ty. He is talking so much more and sometimes I wish we could still plug him up =) Riley loves the beach. In fact, he loves it so much that he doesn't want to leave. He is very strong willed (don't know where he gets that) and wants to stay and play! Both the kids miss Maddy sooooo very much, but are thankful that Ella and Jakey are taking such good care of her. (Sorry Jody and Drew, they only mention Ella and Jakey) They must pet every dog they see. (Riley tries to lick them! Gross)
