Summer is almost over.  Caleb will be starting Kindergarten in two weeks.  Owen is talking and immitating Caleb's every move and word.  At Owen's 2 year check up, he weighed 39 pounds while Caleb weighed 43 1/2 pounds at 5 years old.  LIttle brother is catching up quickly.  Mike and I have really enjoyed our summer with the boys and the wonderful, mild weather.

Owen had his 18 month check up a few weeks ago and was 34 pounds, 11 ounces and 34 1/2 inches long.  He is almost back on the growth chart, which he has not been on since he was 2 weeks old.  The boys had a great Christmas and we have had a nice 2 week break from school.  I can't say we are looking forward to going back on Monday.  It has been fun!

Owen weighs 33 pounds at 16 months and is 34 inches long. He started walking at 15 months and is chasing Caleb and Phoebe. Caleb and Owen have even more fun playing together, especially outside. Owen loves to golf like his big brother and is constantly trying to ride Caleb's tricycle and bike. Monkey see, monkey do. They are both doing great. We have a few newer movies on this website. Go to the 2nd page. The last 5 are the latest. http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/limasteidl/

We had a wonderful Steidl family vacation at Hocking Hills in July. Cousins Caleb and Sebastian had a great time with each other. Owen tried to play with the big boys, too. We all miss the LA crew very much.

Owen is one year old.  He weighs 29 pounds and is 31 inches long.  He is a healthy, happy boy.  Owen started doing a one legged "injured" soldier crawl and is now using his knees to crawl around and get into all of Caleb's toys.  Caleb is doing a nice job sharing and teaching his brother.  We had a nice party with lots of friends and family this past weekend in Akron.  We have had a busy summer so far.  We have visited 2 zoos and gone to 2 swimming pools, which Owen loves!  We are looking forward to a vacation with the LA crew and Grandma and Grandpa Choo-Choo at Hocking Hills.  Also, Aunt Heidi will be coming to visit sometime in August. I'm sure the Grandparents will be coming to Lima to visit us this summer as well.  No one can stay away from the boys that long.  Uncle Brandon kissed Owen on the cheek and said he almost got lost in them.  I can't get enough of those wonderful cheeks.  Caleb is golfing (driving range) with daddy this summer and getting taller and taller.  Caleb is 39 pounds and 41 inches tall.  He will be starting his second year of preschool in August and is learning so much.  Have a great summer, everyone!

Owen had his 9 month check up (3/13/08).  He is 26 pounds, 11 ounces and 31 inches long. He is still off the charts but healthy. He is still nursing and is eating all types of food. He is able to pick up and put food into his mouth.  He sometimes refuses the baby food from a spoon but loves the little Gerber Puffs, pieces of banana, green beans, carrots.  He has 8 teeth and the doctor said to get out the grill this summer, he'll be ready for a nice big steak. :)

My good friend and fellow teacher, Sarah, got married this weekend (3/15/08) and Caleb was the ring bearer. He did a wonderful job! Caleb just adores Sarah and was excited to wear fancy clothes again. He is such a little man in his tuxedo. We all had a wonderful time and were happy to be a part of their special day. Congratulations Sarah and Brent!

Sarah, Caleb really enjoyed your piano playing. Maybe someday you can teach him to play the piano!

Owen had his first Christmas and put a smile on everyone's face.  No one can resist those cheeks.  Caleb was excited to get what he asked for from Santa and told Kate he heard Santa outside.  He sprinkled some reindeer dust outside (and all over daddy) so the reindeer could find him at Grandma and Paca's house.  Aunt Heidi came home for Christmas and fell in love with her new nephew and neice.  Owen dazzled her with his smile and Anna snuggled in her arms and slept.  She also brought the coolest toys for the kids (parents) to play with.  Baby Anna is getting bigger and loves being held by Paca.  Kate and Caleb got along great, playing and taking a bath together.  Caleb was showing her how to wash herself in the tub.  Kate follows everything he does.  I wish we lived closer so they could be together more often.  They are great friends already.

Owen had his six month check up Dec. 11.  He is 24 pounds 9 ounces and 29 3/4" long.  He is off the charts!  He is wearing size 5 diapers and is starting to wear 18 month clothes.  He is so big that our sitter quit due to shoulder problems and we had to find a new sitter for him starting this week.  We are still working on rolling over.  It takes a lot of effort.  Owen started enjoying cereal and veggies.  He is talking all the time.  Caleb makes him smile and laugh often!

Owen had his 4 month check up.  He is tipping the scales at 22.1 pounds and is 27 3/4" long.  The doctor was very complimentary about his weight since I am still breast feeding.  He said the formula companies may want to get a sample and see what is making Owen grow so well.  He is a big boy but very healthy and happy.  He started at the sitters last week and is getting used to a bottle after putting up a bit of a fight.  I'm back at school.  fun....  Caleb is a happy preschooler but forgot how to sleep through the night.  Owen is doing well sleeping.  One out of two isn't bad.

Owen had his two month check-up.  He is 17 pounds, 4 ounces and 25 1/2 inches long.  We skipped size 2 diapers and went right to size 3 a few weeks ago.  He is 3 1/2 pounds bigger than Caleb at this age.  Hopefully he will slow down.  He will be in 6/9 month clothes before he is 3 months old.  Apparently he looks like a 6 month old with a floppy head!

Owen had his one month check up.  He weighs 13 pounds, 5 ounces and is 23 1/2" long.  We put away his 0-3 month clothes and got out the 3-6 month outfits.  Caleb is doing great as a big brother.  He was trying to teach him some signs and sings songs to him.

Well, we went into the hospital on Monday, June 11 at 1:00.  We started pitocin at 3:00 to induce labor since the baby wasn't getting any smaller.  Owen was born at 8:46 pm.  It didn't take long!  I decided against the epidural and Mike and Theresa (my mid-wife) helped tremendously.  It was a wonderful birth.  We are all very happy and I am very relieved.  I was feeling some anxiety since we knew he was going to be big.  After debating over names for 2 days, we settled on Owen Michael (Henry was our other choice) and brought him home on Wednesday, June 13th.  He eats like a champ and sleeps a lot during the day.  Caleb is doing very well adjusting.  He is a great big brother.  Our family is now complete!

We had an ultrasound this morning.  The baby is measuring 8 pounds, 7 ounces.  We didn't get a really good shot of the baby since he is in tight quarters.  Everything looks good.  I am 1 cm. which is not much, but I still have 2 weeks till my due date.  We will consider an induction (yuck) next week.

Caleb picked up some books that we had gotten as a present for the baby.  He held the books up to my belly and yelled "I have your books baby.  See!".  He now asks the baby questions, makes a sound like "wah wah wah" and tells me what the baby answered.  He keeps us laughing.  This baby is lucky to have such a great big brother!

Caleb had a lot of fun in the snow today.  It snowed all day yesterday and the wind was very strong.  We have drifts of snow everywhere.  Luckily, one of Mike's friends plowed the 4 foot + snowdrift in front of our garage last night.  No school yesterday or today and we are loving it.  Caleb went sledding in our yard and climbed the hills of snow until the wind picked up and we made him go in to get warm.  There is a video if anyone wants to see it: http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/limasteidl/  The last 2 video's are from today, Valentine's Day.  Stay warm!

We are excited about having a little boy.  We need name suggestions.  Sorry Aunt Heidi, we aren't going with Stewie.  But keep thinking.  (Homer and Bart are out also.)  Everything looks great and he apparently has a big head (daddy).- not what I want to hear.  He is measuring a little big, but Caleb was big too.  21 weeks down and hopefully no more than 19 weeks to go.

We had our first snowday of the school year.  We enjoyed a few minutes in the snow, but the winds were terrible.  The snow was not packing to even attempt to build a snowman.  Caleb enjoyed running around in it and making tracks.  The rest of our day has been pretty lazy.  One of the perks of being teachers!

We have an ultrasound scheduled for Feb. 6th.  Caleb and Mike will be there to find out the sex of the baby.  I am feeling some movement.  I really missed that.  I am getting bigger by the minute.  I'll get a picture up soon.

I don't have any stories at this time.  Off to play some play dough with Caleb.  When he does something silly, I'll add it to this part of the site.  There, end of first story!
