Hi everyone welcome to Ben's home page. This is his aunt Kellie and she will be the one doing all of the work on this page. This is the first time she's done anything like this, so wish her luck!
Kristin adopted Ben from the Go Vap Orphange in Ho Chi Minh City, VN in June of 2006. I went with her; thinking we'd be gone for a couple of weeks. We returned almost one month later with this adorable baby boy. Ben's first birthday was June 16, 2006. We arrived in Vietnam on June 24, 2006 and Kristin met Ben on June 26, 2006, just 10 days after his first birthday. Kristin and I went with Bev and Caili Bonar to the orphanage to pick up the "boys". Bev adopted 6 month old Carter and Kristin adopted 12 month old Ben. They were both very lucky to be able to take the boys that day from the orphanage. They didn't offically adopt them until July 11, 2006 at the "Giving and Receiving" ceremony . Normally you do not get the babies until that ceremony. God was with us that day, when the facilitator decided not to take the babies with us- she looked at us and said oh, you want to take them? Bev & Kris were so surprised they didn't say anything. Of course I did, and to make this short..we got to take them back to the hotel with us. Luckily we did, because we later found out that Ben had an infected boil on his head that just got bigger each day. We did finally get him an antibotic after his medical, and it went away. We spent the next three weeks fighting with our agency via the phone and e-mail trying to get through the adoption process (mostly on our own) and to get to Hanoi, VN to get the "boys" visas, so we could bring them home. We spent 4 days in Hanoi finishing our interviews with the Embassy. Then we flew to Tapei, Taiwan, then to LA, CA, then home to Pittsburgh, PA. Our parents and friends were there to greet us. Ben's been home for 8 months now and doing great! We all love him so much!
You can see pictures of our trip to adopt Ben in Vietnam, and some more recents pictures, on the picture page.
Thanks for Visiting, Kellie
