August 11th 2008 - Jenna is now over 3 and a half years old, not any more months now until she starts school in January. I worked out the other day that Jenna will be starting school 9 months earlier than Becca did, not really surprising that I don't think she's quite ready then.

No t much to report really, Jenna's speech is coming on, slowly but surely. Jenna has started swimming lessons now and has already been awarded a badge and certificate. Daddy had to partake in the lesson for the first couple of weeks, but now she will happily go in on her own. Jenna's big sister Rebecca swam a whole mile last week! She was atually attempting 800m, but managed to swim 1600! It cost me a fortune in badges and sponsor money :). We are really, really proud of you Becca.

April 8th 2008 - Just a quick update about Jenna. Jenna was referred for speech therapy as we were worried about her pronounciation, we were really happy to discover that Jenna has no speech problems and is actually advanced in some areas, she has a slight lisp which she seems to be growing out of.

Jenna is now potty-trained! Woohoo! At long last. We decided to go for it over the Easter holidays and she has done really, really well.

Jenna's big sister Rebecca will be 9 years old this Saturday, quite hard to believe that our little girl is not so little anymore. Jenna has decided that it is her birthday on Saturday too, it's not easy trying to explain to a 3 year old that it actually isn't her birthday, but she has a birthday card and present to open just to keep the peace.

Jenna is loving nursery and runs in every morning to see her friends, particularly Cerys who seems to be Jenna's best friend. Cerys is older than Jenna and took her under her wing when she moved into the Pre-School room. Jenna will be starting Rebecca's school in January, she still seems too little though, I hope they sell uniforms in age 2-3 years :)

December 7th 2007 - I've uploaded loads of photographs tonight, it's taken me hours but well worth it to see them here. Jenna is rapidly approaching 3 now, a proper little girl. She still isn't potty-trained, she seems happy enough in nappies although we do have some good days where she likes to wear pants. I intend to try really hard to get her into pants after Xmas. Jenna is still loving nursey, she is in the pre-school room now and loving every minute. She will be going much more often in January, almost every day, I'm sure it will do her the world of good. I've finally managed to get Jenna referred for some speech therapy, hopefully we shall hear from them soon. She is still speaking through her nose quite a bit, hopefully they will be able to give us some advice so we can help her. Firstly she has to have a hearing test to rule any hearing problems out. We shall have to wait and see! Both girls are doing really, really well, we are extremely lucky!

September 2nd 2007 - Yay! I've finally uploaded some photographs! There is no excuse now, I shall do them as soon as I can from now on. We've had a lovely summer apart from the shocking weather. Jenna is still no further on with the potty training but I am really not bothered and will wait for her to do it in her own time. Her speech is great, she is so funny with it too! She is a little doll and I wish she would stay at this age forever, she is so good!

We saw Madie a couple of weeks back, Jenna's SCBU friend, she is doing brilliantly and is totally gorgeous. William came round too for lunch and he is a little star, his speech is amazing, he is one cool dude.

We haven't been on holiday as yet this year, we are going to Cornwall in two weeks time. We've had days out to White Post Farm, which both the girls love and last week we went to Alton Towers which was a fantastic day out. We all had a great time, Becca and Jenna were quite brave and went on the Runaway Train and the Rapids where we got a little wet. We had loads of fun that day and look forward to going back again some day.

Jenna is obsessed with Dora The Explorer! She absolutely loves her to bits and can't get enough of her, every time we are out shopping and she spots Dora she wants it! So we have to make sure we rush past any Dora stuff really quickly!

July 7th 2007 - How bad am I? I haven't updated for ages! Jenna is doing great, 2 and a half now! Where has that gone eh? Jenna did her first wee in a potty today! It's a small step anyway. Jenna is absolutely obsessed with Dora The Explorer at the moment, so much so that she lived in her Dora wellies, whether it's raining or not. Her speech is getting so good now, she is stringing words together and making us laugh all the time. She is so beautiful, she has so much long hair. We're so proud of her and her sister Rebecca and really enjoying the ages they are at at the moment. They both get on really well, most of the time although they have their spats, but there is definitely a strong sisterly bond there.

May 25th 2006 - Just having a little boast about my special girls, Becca taught Jenna to count to six last night! I was absolutely lost for words and so proud of them both. Jenna has always gone at her own pace with talking but to all of a sudden start counting is pretty amazing! She is a whizz at puzzles, she can master them in minutes and loves to do them over and over and over again.

May 16th 2007 - I really must update with some recent photographs, Jenna is changing so much and is very much a little girl rather than a baby now.

We had a lovely day yesterday with William and George, who were born around the same time as Jenna both @ 28 weeks and both doing remarkably well! It really took me back seeing them both yesterday, remembering times in SCBU, both sad and happy. Both William and George have both now been discharged, I'm so pleased for them and their lovely mummies Liz and Rachel.

Jenna is fast approaching 2 and a half! I wish she would stay this age forever, she is so funny and she is also very good, no trouble at all. She has her moments like any other 2 year old, but most of the time she is fab!

April 22nd 2007 - Jenna is absolutely thriving and looking so beautiful, I know I am biased but she really is a little ray of sunshine. She is so funny, even when she is having a tantrum and there are plenty of those! She keeps surprising us by coming out with lots of new words and she says them perfectly too! She has a limited vocabulary but when she does say something we know exactly what she means. She still won't say Mummy though, however hard we try! Her favourite TV programme at the moment is 'In the night garden', it is a strange one but Jenna is transfixed when it comes on and gets very excited. She also loves Pocoyo, Teletubbies and Spongebob Square Pants, of course! Jenna loves nothing more than to get into her sister's bedroom and explore all of her toys! Much to Becca's disgust. Becca is a fantastic big sister and she is so helpful with Jenna, I really hope they can become very good friends as they grow up. I think Jenna has long left her prematurity behind now, you really wouldn't be able to tell that she was born so early if she was in a group of children the same age. She has done remarkably well, how lucky we are!

March 15th 2007 - Yes! Our clever girl has been discharged! Weighing 26lb and doing everything a 2 year old is doing we finally said our goodbyes to the hospital. Very happy but quite sad too....

March 14th 2007 - I thought it was about high time that I updated this site, but I suppose no news is good news. Jenna is doing great! Running everywhere and completely ruling the roost. She knows exactly how to wrap us around her little finger. Her speech is coming on now, still not stringing words together but we are pleased with her progress. Jenna is still enjoying all her activities, she loves creche, nursery and Jo Jingles too. We are now walking the school run and Jenna loves to sit in her pushchair waving at all the lorries. Jenna adores her big sister Becca, who keeps her entertained. They do fall out, but also have a lot of fun together. Jenna has her 2 year check at the hospital tomorrow morning, I am hoping that she will be discharged, I have everything crossed anyway. I will update with some recent pictures soon....

January 31st 2007 - Well there goes another 3 weeks without me updating again....... All is tickety-boo in the King household so far this year. And no hospital admissions at all this winter so far for Jenna! What a different story it was last year. I felt like such a bad mother. Jenna still has colds but fights them off very easily and they don't stop her from being a little monkey.

Talking of monkey's, I found that she had spooned yogurt into my ornaments the other day. Ewwwwwwww! YuK! She gets up to so much mischief, yet she is really easy to look after, she can entertain herself with anything and is such a happy girl.

The speech issue is better, I think Jenna has a vocabulary of maybe 20 words now, probably only we can understand them but she is really trying. She is much more willing to attempt new words now and copy what you say. We're still talking through the nose though.

I just find her to be such a switched on cookie, she has these wooden puzzles which don't phase her one little bit, she knows exactly where all the little pieces go first time. She really does amaze me.

Planning Jenna's due date party at the moment, we are holding it at White Post Farm, should be fun! I still don't actually class Jenna as being 2 yet, I think once her due date is here I will feel much happier about being asked her age by people and having to explain the story again. Not that I mind, she is such a wonderful success story of a preemie.

January 8th 2007 - Well things are going really well, Jenna is trying to say more and more every day, also becoming more and more switched on every day. She doesn't miss a thing! She likes to do everything her own way, she is incredibly stubborn, but very sweet with it.

I took Becca to the doctors the other day as she has sore elbows. Anyway, the doctor was shining light on Becca's elbows so she could see them properly, Jenna proceeded to roll her sleeves up and shove her elbows under the doctors nose too! Then Becca was asked to roll her trousers up, and, yes, Jenna had to roll hers up too. The doctor found it really funny, commenting on how Jenna was very comfortable with medical equipment and surroundings...... funny that.

December 31st 2006 - Well Christmas has come and gone in a flash! Firstly Jenna's birthday went like a dream....... she was well! We all went out for a meal and had a lovely day, Jenna had lots of wonderful presents and had great fun! The day wasn't as emotional as I thought it would be, just very happy! I thought I was doing really well until I watched Casualty, it was a really emotional episode to say the least.

Jenna had a fab Christmas day! Much more interested in Becca's christmas presents though! Mummy spent most of the day being sick and Daddy spent all day trying to get toys out of boxes.

Late Boxing Day we went to Nana's and Grandad's for a few days, poor Jenna has been ill with a chest infection but it didn't stop her bouncing off the walls! Jenna was thrilled with the teletubby and fairy bag from Nana and Grandad and had lots of fun causing mayhem and terrorising Jenny the dog.

We are now home and can't wait to get back into the old routine.

Happy New Year to all! xxx

December 19th 2006 - Ha! Ha! I knew I had spoken too soon. Jenna has been off her food for a couple of days now, but pretty lively so thought it was her teeth. This morning she struggled to get up, sat in front of her breakfast just looking at it. Eventually nibbled a piece of toast and drunk loads of juice. I picked her up out of her highchair for her to throw up all over the place. She is now laying on the settee all snuggled up watching CBeebies. Lets hope it's all out of the way before the weekend.

December 17th 2006 - We went to church tonight to see Becca singing in the choir for the Carol service. I lit 2 candles, one for all the premature babies who sadly don't make it and another for my 4 grandparents and Becca and Jenna's great-grandparents who are no longer with us. Becca and Jenna never got the chance to meet them. I do believe that my Nan has been watching over my two girls since they were born. Becca also had a shaky start, and is very lucky to be here. We all know Jenna's story....I think my Nan has been with her every step of the way.........

December 15th 2006 - Only 9 days to go til the big day! Jenna's big day that is. I feel really strange about it all this year....... last year was awful as Jenna had just come out of hospital, this year I keep thinking back, I don't think you ever stop thinking back. All those little things that remind you..... I was in the car the other night and the thermometer bonged, my heart nearly stopped.... it sounded just like one of Jenna's monitors in S.C.B.U. I was in the supermarket yesterday........ the phone rang and it had the same tone as the hospital's phone.... funny how these little things bring it all back. Like the smell of the body gel I used while staying with Jenna in hospital, I can't bare it anymore. Christmas is such an intense time of year, I think it's only natural that we get a little emotional. I just keep thanking my lucky stars that she is just the most perfect little girl.....

November 29th 2006 - I really ought to update Jenna's site more often, I can't believe it is almost December!

Jenna is doing ever so well, she was ill a couple of weeks ago but coped really well and kept out of hospital, which is a bonus! She had a heavy cold and a sickness bug. This time last year Jenna was at Lincoln with RSV, not nice. Hopefully we can put all that behind us now.

Jenna's speech is improving, the Teletubbies seem to be helping much to Daddies disgust! She can understand every word that is being said to her, but prefers to ramble in her own language at the moment.

Jenna has perfected the tantrum now, she can throw some right wobblers if she doesn't get her own way! I wonder who she gets that from........hmmmm.......Becca?

Her favourite foods at the moment are curry, chilli con carne, anything spicy really! Well, just anything........she just loves food! It's great! And she is getting really good at feeding herself too.

October 22nd 2006 - Jenna is fast approaching 22 months!!!!!! My goodness, where did that time go?!?!? She really is turning into a little girl now, with a huge personality and very beautiful.

She really is a good girl, she has her stubborn moments when she doesn't want to wear something in particular or eat something. She likes to wander off exploring too, something her sister never did, Becca was always glued to our side. Jenna is a really busy girl, she goes to creche every week, Music Tots, Nursery and Jo Jingles. Such a hectic social life!

Jenna is full of cold at the moment, it is worrying me to be honest, particularly after 3 admissions last winter, I just hope that she is strong enough to stay out of hospital this year. She is going to pick everything up as she mixes with other children so much.

We have had a very busy week, we went to Rufford Park with some friends on Friday, including Jenna's friend Millie. It was absolutely lovely! Jenna also went to her cousin Tiegan's birthday party yesterday at White Post Farm, she stroked a baby duck, a mouse and a snake, she got a little too friendly with the snake and tried to grab it apparently. That child has no fear whatsoever!

September 29th 2006 - Last week Jenna went on her very first family holiday, we went to Whitby and it was great! The weather was beautiful! We stayed in a lovely house overlooking a play park, which Jenna loved. We visited Robins Hood Bay and walked through the seaweed on the beach, we visited Scarborough, Goathland where they film Heartbeat and we had a great day out at Flamingo Land where Jenna loved the fairgound rides!

We were weighed this week, a whopping 23lb 11oz!!!!!!!!!!
