Stories September 14th 2006 - Jenna had her 18 month check-up with the lovely Dr. Lewins today, it all went very well indeed. He was really pleased with her and quite taken with her when she climbed on his lap for a cuddle. She is doing everything she should be doing at this stage and he is pretty confident that the talking will come along eventually. He seems to think that because Jenna has an older sister she doesn't need to talk as she has someone to do it for her. All in all she is as bright as a button and has a huge personality. I'm not so keen on the tantrums though, sometimes I only have to look at Jenna and she throws herself on the floor and she isn't bothered where she does it either, it's all part of growing up though! August 16th 2006 - My little big girl started Hobby Horse Nursery today! Becca and I left her for a trial visit, Jenna toddled off, got stuck in and never looked back. So much for me worrying that she would miss us! She wasn't bothered at all, she is a confident little lady. So pleased that she enjoyed herself and it will be great to have a bit of peace and quiet for me for a couple of hours. August 13th 2006 - We had a lovely day today, met up with some of Jenna's friends from SCBU at Lincoln, Madie, William, Poppy and Amaya, who is Poppy's gorgeous big sister. It was so good to see all the little ones chasing each other around, they have all come so far and are all doing amazingly well. Each and every one is an absolute miracle. August 2nd 2006 - We have big girls shoes!!!!!!!!!!!! Took Jenna to have her feet measured on the off-chance that her feet may have grown. I was really surprised to hear that she is a 3 in one and a 3 and a half in the other so we have finally been able to buy some hard-soled walking shoes. My little girl looks like a big girl now though....... I would like nothing better than to stop time at the moment, she is growing up so fast, too fast..........an independant little miss. July 19th 2006 - Jenna is almost 19 months old, I really can't believe it, no longer a baby! A little girl with a huge personality and growing in confidence all the time, she is doing so well and I have to pinch myself sometimes - we are so lucky! Jenna seems to be over the clingy stage - that didn't last long! She is quite happy to go toddling off on her own without looking back, she still likes to assess the situation and take a step back but it doesn't take long before she is in the thick of it. Jenna must weigh around 23 lb's now, she was 22 and a half a few weeks ago. She is still petite, but well covered! She's still not saying any proper words yet, just a load of babbling, I'm sure it makes perfect sense to her. She has a blanket which she is attached to, Becca had one too and it was called 'pet', she still has it actually. Anyway, Jenna calls hers tete, the t sound from pet. She also knows what you are saying and can follow instructions.I keep asking her to cook the tea and wash up, no luck yet though! We still have chesty coughs, even in this heat, and seem to pick up every virus going but she is doing great despite this. Jenna loves to walk everywhere, she walks from the car up to school in the morning and as soon as we get into Becca's classroom, she makes a beeline for the door to walk back to the car. She certainly keeps us on our toes! June 18th 2006 - Jenna went swimming for the first time today! She has always been too poorly to go at other opportunities. Daddy and Becca took her while I was at work, I managed to go and watch for a few minutes and they had a brilliant time. Jenna smiled the whole time and loved every minute! June 1st 2006 - Jenna is really getting the hang of walking now, she is spending more time walking than crawling now and can walk while holding something in her hand too! Clarks here we come again! She is getting much more adventurous with her food too, she will eat just about anything, unlike her very fussy sister who would rather boil her head than eat a vegetable. All in all Jenna is doing brilliantly, we just need to work on her speech now. Although, I have to say that one daughter answering back is enough for us at the moment. May 4th 2006 - Well the girl has finally done it! Daddy and I stood absolutely mesmerised as Jenna walked across the room! She was so pleased with herself, I don't think there will be any stopping her now. Well done Jenna! Mummy and Daddy are so proud of you! (16 months actual/13 months corrected) April 21st 2006 - We got a wonderful surprise today when Jenna actually took 3 wobbly steps! Jenna was holding onto her snail rocker, let go and toddled off to Grandma, she kind of fell into Grandma's arms, but it was the most amazing site! Grandma started to fill up. Jenna has been cruising since December, so hopefully this is the start of something good. Totally gobsmacked! (15 months actual/ 12 months corrected) April 15th 2006 - Would you believe it? Drama queen strikes again! Another trip to A&E. Jenna awoke at around 10' ish last night with quite a bad nose bleed, throwing up, a croupy cough, temperature of 39.4 and high resps. We just don't take chances anymore, if we suspect something isn't right then we just go straight to A&E. Good old Daddy took her down, where they diagnosed croup and ordered an ambulance to take her to Kingsmill. I caught up and followed them down, once she was there, it was like nothing had ever happened! After 2 checkovers by 2 seperate doctors they confirmed she has a viral infection (always is) of the upper respiratory tract and we were sent home at 3.30 am this morning. Jenna is none the wiser and bouncing about like the Easter Bunny this morning! Thank goodness!
April 12th 2006 - It was another very special little ladies birthday today ~ Rebecca! 7 years old already! That makes me feel very old and Becca would agree! I can remember her very dramatic arrival into the world like it was yesterday. Becca can be the cheekiest, most temperamental little girl in the world but we wouldn't swap her.........maybe just for the day! She has a mind of her own and likes to have the last word and we can't change that. She coped so fantastically well when Jenna was in SCBU, she spent 9 weeks without me as I lived at the hospital. She took it all in her stride, I am so proud of her and thought she was well worth a mention for being the best big sister ever! Happy Birthday Becca!
April 5th 2006 - Weigh-in day today! 21lb 4oz! As Jenna is now a year corrected, when she is weighed it is no longer plotted 13 weeks behind, Jenna is weighed by her actual age of 15 months old. Jenna is now sitting on the 25th centile, the next line under the average one so as long as she follows that then we are happy. Jenna isn't too interested in the walking business as yet, why bother when you can crawl like lightning and get to the baby gate quicker than anyone else?!? She can walk a good few steps with holding just one hand, we can't ask for anymore than that, she is doing brilliantly! Tooth number 8 is on the way and Jenna is really happy and healthy at the moment, full of fun and mischief. She is wonderful! Just growing up far too quickly. March 25th 2006 - Jenna is 1 year old corrected today! I can't believe that my little pudding is growing up so quickly! We held a party for all of Jenna's little friends at the House of Fun. Very, very stressful day as Jenna is still poorly and VERY whingey, she puked all over daddy 30 minutes just before we were due to leave, so she had to have a quick scrub in the bath. Tried hundreds of times to get some nice pictures but Madam was just not going to smile at all today.
March 16th 2006 - We took Jenna to see her consultant Dr. Lewins today for a check-up and he was thrilled to bits with her! He anticipates that she will have no problems whatsoever due to her prematurity, so a very happy mummy and daddy today and we don't have to go back until September. Great! March 11th 2006 - My gorgeous girl made me so proud today when she clapped for the first time. It doesn't sound like much but I have been trying to get her to do it for ages and she has finally got the hang of it. Well done Jenna!
March 1st 2006- It was the dreaded mmr day today, it all went quite well, Jenna screamed for a few seconds but a few milky bar buttons helped! The nurse had us in and out in about 10 seconds, not even long enough to pull Jenna's trousers up! We were also weighed today - 20lb 7oz - so a VERY happy mummy!
February 26th 2006 - It's a whole year since we brought our tiny bundle home from hospital, I can't believe it has gone so fast! I'm looking at her now getting into everything, walking around the furniture and generally causing havoc. She really is a little miracle..... February 9th - Jenna has got a spotty tum and bum. Chickenpox!!!!!! Caught it off her sister who had it a couple of weeks ago. She is still full of it though and still eating like a pig!
February 3rd 2006 - NEW SHOOOOOES!!!!! Very exciting day today! Jenna has her very first pair of Clarks shoes. Her tiny feet have finally grown to fit a size 2. Jenna actually couldn't care less what she has on her feet, but mummy is really rather happy that Jenna has her first pair of shoes. Not proper shoes yet, but ones she can crawl and cruise around the furniture in.
January 18th 2006 - Monthly weigh-in today, I am over the moon that Jenna weighs 19lb 8oz, she has put on 14oz in 4 weeks, I can breathe a sigh of relief until next month!
