Dear Joshua,

God bless you and yours! By the time you are old enough to read this, you will probably already have learned of Fr. Solanus and how he has helped you. Venerable Solanus Casey is in Heaven working side-by-side with God to help people who are sick or hurting or lonely.

Let's say you have a favorite teacher who helps you with a math problem after class once in a while. Now, you have a friend who is having a hard time with a math problem. Your friend may ask you to "put in a good word" with the teacher so he can get some extra help too. That is what Fr. Solanus does for us with God. He tells God, the Great Teacher, that he has a friend who could use some extra help right now. You and Fr. Solanus both know that God is going to help anyway, but it gives us a little confidence knowing we have a good friend who is on our side.

Fr. Solanus would tell us to be patient during times of trouble. If we trust in God's mercy and goodness, we will eventually see that those things we called "trouble" have turned out to be blessings in disguise. Let us pray together that we will look for those blessings and give thanks to God for all good things. Let's be the kind of friend to others that Fr. Solanus is to us.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Br. Richard

i have just read your story about your baby boy joshua on my grandsons site, alexander james maguire. These children are truly amazing for pulling through after such a traumatic start to life. They werre very dark days indeed, but now you only have to look at him to see that all our prayers were answered. He is a happy, healthy 21/2 year old, starting school september 15 - 3 afternoons per week, he knows all his colors, counts to 12 without prompting and knows ALL thomas the tank engines by name and number. He speaks very fluently and his favourite word at the moment is its amazing - he loves being outdoors, going on nature trail walks and looking at birds and trees. He is a bit of a fussy eater liking cakes and chocolate but dont all kids. I hope Joshua is keeping healthy and making good progres in his development as is alexander. Dear Joshua, Mom and Dad- I love the beach pictures! Joshua, you have gotten so big! I think of you and your family often, and say a prayer for you each time! Thanks for updating this site and later on at home I will check out your youtube videos! I can't wait to see them!
-Heidi Kubiak     Aug 10 2008

Dearest Joshua,

As I awoke this morning and started thinking of the goodness in our lives, I thought about todays date being June 12th and I began to get chills as I recalled rushing to the hospital to wait in the family waiting room of the NICU. It was one year ago today that you had your immediate heart surgery. You were 12 days old and not weighing much more than 1 pound we were all concerned (if I could put it lightly) especially your mommy and daddy.

God has shown us how to be patient, pray and persevere. We are truly blessed to have you in our lives. I feel like the Grinch in Whoville every time I think of you, see you, or see a picture of you; it is as if my heart grows 10 times bigger that way. I guess it is all part of being a grandma. I couldn't have ever imagined these feelings before. You are truly an amazing and astounding little boy.

May God continue to bless you, Little Hero.

Love, Nanna

Joshua,

Under the scripture reading are words from a book. When reading them, hearts are touched with thoughts of you.

For you are fearfully and wonderfully made…
Psalms 139

On the Night You Were Born

On the night you were born,
the moon smiled with such wonder
that the stars peeked in to see you
and the night wind whispered,
“Life will never be the same.” (and this is so true)

Because there had never been anyone like you…
ever in the world.

So enchanted with you were the wind and the rain
that they whispered the sound of your wonderful name.

It sailed through the farmland
high on the breeze
over the ocean
and through the trees

Until everyone heard it
and everyone knew
of the one and only ever you.

Not once had there been such eyes,
such a nose,
such silly, wiggly, wonderful toes.

When the polar bears heard,
they danced until dawn.

From faraway places, the geese flew home.

The moon stayed up until morning next day

And none of the ladybugs flew away.

So whenever you doubt just how special you are
And you wonder who loves you, how much and how far,
Listen for geese honking high in the sky.
(They’re singing a song to remember you by.)

Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo.
(It’s because they’ve been dancing all night for you!)

Or drift off to sleep to the sound of the wind.
(Listen closely…it’s whispering your name again!)

If the moon stays up until morning one day,
Or a ladybug lands and decides to stay,
or a little bird sits at you window awhile,
It’s because they’re all hoping to see you smile…

For never before in story or rhyme
(not even once upon a time)
has the world ever known a you, my friend,
and it never will, not ever again…

Heaven blew every trumpet
And played every horn
On the wonderful, marvelous
Night you were born.

NOVEMBER 07, 2007

Our Dearest Joshua,
This is a day I will never forget! You are HOME. Home with your Mommy and Daddy, were you belong. I can't stop crying with tears of Joy, since your mommy text me about leaving the hospital this afternoon at 3:50 pm. I want to share with you the scriptlure reading I would think of when I would email all the prayer requests, (prayer request to so many special people all over the world) for your immediate situation, in times of need, during the last 5 months...

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks for a fish? If you then, who are sinners, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him." (Mt 7:7-11)

May God continue to bless this beautiful family!

-Love, Nanna     Nov 07 2007
