Sep 11- Been very busy around here at Granma's house. This past weekend we went to feed the ducks at the park and play on the cool stuff! then we went to a balloon and bar-b-que festival. Lots of fun there. We even went on a horse ride with Mom!
We may be having alot of fun but we still really miss our Daddy! But Mom assures us it won't be long until we can all go to the beach in Florida!!
We're a bit under the weather these days with really bad allergies...Gabriel seems to have the most resilience though....Mom and Brett are getting a thorough butt whooping! Hope we'll all feel better soon...cause Granma June is due in for a long weekend visit down here on FRIDAY!!!! We are SOOOO excited!!! Wicked fun times!
Aug 31 - Yes I know our Mother has been very remiss in the updates!! But we've all been very busy!!
Let's see the wedding was fantastic and we love calling Val "Uncle" now. They said they'll come see us in Florida REAL soon! NO CRUISES ALLOWED!!
Mom's Birthday/our going away party was AMAZING!! So many wonderful friends we will all dearly miss but promise to see each other very soon!
Then Granma jesse flew out to drive with us from Texas to Kentucky...no covered wagons...we even had the DVD players going and got to go swimming at the hotel! We had fun and are now enjoying hanging out with Granma and Pawpaw.
Even more good news...Granma June is coming to Kentucky for a visit!! Yeehaw...both Granma's again...we LOVE IT!!
Daddy sure does miss us...he calls everyday...Mom finally figured out how to send him pics of us on her cell phone so that's good (cause he can see us) but bad (cause he REALLY misses us!).
Mom is trying to get her laptop to work at Granma's house but she says it's been kind of nice without a computer for a few days...she's at the library now updating our site and cleaning out her email. Means we are with Granma and Pawapaw and going to have some serious fun tonight!!!
We went to a birthday party at a nearby lake today...lots of fun...Auntie Donna was there and Mom got to see alot of people who remember her from when she was a baby!! That sure does seem like a long time ago to her.
We all miss Daddy very much but we know Sophie is taking care of him and the Beasley's are his adopted family for a few weeks. God bless you Rocky, Thad and CJ for taking such good care of our Daddy!!
Granma and Pawpaw here are taking good care of us...Mom has been taking daily naps with us and she feels very rested. Gabriel loves to help Pawpaw mow the yard and Brett likes their new baby kitty (unnamed as of yet).
Aunt Cristy is coming up to visit this weekend for a barbeque and we'll get to see some more cousins. Man do we have a WHOLE lot of cousins down here in Kentucky/Tennessee. John John came by and took Brett for a ride on his go cart...Gabriel wasn't quite up for the challenge surprisingly. But then no sooner had he left than gabriel started saying "Where's John I can ride?!"
The boys' are getting LOADS of attention around here and having a blast. They do miss their Daddy and we all no it won't be too long until we are living in Florida ALL TOGETHER!!
Okay so Mom's gonna take a break and try to load some pics from the picnic...hopefully this weekend she'll get the laptop connected and up and running...if not well keep the comments coming and she'll update once a week.
Hugs and kisses to everybody!!............BRETT & GABRIEL
10 Aug - Hang tight everybody!! We're home from the week-long wedding and Mom is working on getting all updated!! Pics...stories...video...until then trust us....it was "WICKED AWESOME"!!!
25 Jul - The boys' had a great time with Aunt Sharon & Courtney, CJ was staying too so they got to play with him for the evening (Saturday) while Mom, Dad, Thad and Raquel all went to the Tim & Faith "Soul 2 Soul II" concert. Dad got box seats so they had a BLAST!! Mom updated some pictures from the concert. They even got to go out to dinner on the Riverwalk before the concert...food was AMAZING and the "Prickly Pear" margaritas were a big hit!! Special note...Aunt Rocky don't worry Dad says he'll bring a disc with ALL of the concert pictures to you on Sunday, since you were the "designated photographer!!" :-)
We were all out in the garage this morning...Mom up to her usual projects...the boys' rotated through coloring, play doh and building blocks. Our neighbors were having some work done and the gentlemen peered around and asked, "do you run a daycare?" She started to laugh and says, "though it MAY look like it...no, I have twins and that calls for imagination and organization." Wish everyone could have seen the look on her face though, "Daycare?!?!" No we make sure she has very full days!
23 Jul - This evening Mom and Dad are going to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in concert and Auntie Sharon and Courtney are coming to hang out with the boys'! They always have a good time with Sharon and Courtney.
The house has been shown about four times so far since it went on the market Friday, Mom says it is pretty tricky cleaning up and making sure we don't destroy picked up toys but she's getting the hang of it. Hopefully it'll sell quickly and we can get back to regular daily life.
Some cute stories...mostly about their communication. Gabriel picked up his new "kid size" guitar and turned around and said, "Thanks Crissy (Cristy)for my big tar (guitar).
Both boys' have their own names for the dog, Sophie. Gabe calls her "Fofie" and Bret calls her "Soso". It's so wonderful how good she is with them both. They play with her, on her, over her....you name it and she lovingly lets them until she's had enough and she just moves away.
20 Jul - WOW is it already nearing the end of July?!?! Aunt Cristy's visit was awesome and the boys' just adored her!! The weather was well, hot, as usual here in Texas! She got to see the "usual" visitor things but I think the biggest hit was the tubing trip down the river. It was just the sisters, Dad stayed home with the boys. Bless his heart he even got a bit worried because the girls were late coming home..due to an "unexpected" second trip down the river!
Brett and Gabriel are talking sooo much and sooo well! I'm amazed at the complete sentences!! They are so delightful. Now that Cristy is safely back home and we have the house on the market for sell we are getting hyped up about our trip to Massachussetts.
Auntie Dree is getting married in just a few short weeks!! WOW!! It'll be so good to see that whole side of Rob's family again! Both Grandma's will be there, my Mom is coming up from Kentucky to help with the boys. Should be a lot of GOOD times!!
19 Jul - Mom promises an in-depth recap of Aunt Cristy's visit and Dad's few days off of work with the family. We've decided to sell our home "by owner" so everyone is a little busy these days. She's editing photos and plans on putting the story and photos on tonight. Today is Dad's last day off of work so we're headed to the pool this afternoon after the boys' get back from "Home Store" shopping...gotta get those "For Sale" signs up!!!
11 Jul - The noses around here are still racing like Nascar drivers, but we've got plenty of kleenex and at least the coughs are getting better.
The boys' got a package from Granma Jesse yesterday and they had sooo much fun opening up all of the goodies!! This Christmas is going to be sooooo exciting you can tell how much they love opening things. Not just presents, the new phase (which is driving Mom and Dad) nutty is this: They ask for a fruit rollup or a lollipop or anything wrapped tightly. They unwrap it on their own (heaven forbid you try to help)....then they're done. They don't even want whatever it was they just want to unwrap. This is very frustrating for us big people....poor Dad had to eat two roll-ups himself just so they wouldn't go to waste...HAHA...honest.
They both are talking sooooo much these days. It just blows our minds. We are so very proud of these guys...they truly are blessings beyond our wildest dreams. Far greater than anything we could have hoped for ourselves.
10 Jul - WOW Mom joined the boys' in being sick this whole weekend. Bless their hearts they still want to run and play and Mom just wants rest. It is truly amazing how much "stuff" can come out of such little noses!!!!! All weekend we played our own JazzFest...the boys' tooting their own horns (blowin their noses) 'course they were not happy to do it....but they were very proud that they could and did do it.
They are taking their medicine much better now that Mom and Dad figured out the trick for each. Such very different little fellas we have here in the house.
Mom got the boys' out for a quick ( and I mean quick) shopping trip. We had the mandatory ICEE's which put smiles on their faces. Right now we are SUPPOSED to be winding down for naptime but it seems have got Sophie (or is it the other way around) going in a game of "keep away" with HER toys. And we wonder why occasionally she'll chew up one of their toys'?? How can she tell the difference?!?!
Anyhoo, they're going down and Mom must too. There's still more hours left in the day than she has energy right now! Hopefully we'll all be back to normal when Aunt Cristy comes to visit...heads' up sis start taking some extra Vitamin C before you head out this way!!!LOL
7 Jul - Well we've started our "round robin" of colds. First Brett had the runny nose and cough (started two days ago). Yesterday Gabriel joined in (and not to be outdone) had an even runnier nose and deeper chest cough. Brett seems to be on the rebound but Gabe had a rough night and ended up in bed with Rob and I. Suffice to say I think Brett was the only Lombardi to get much sleep. Sooooo today looks like a "Chicken Noodle Soup" laying low kind of Friday. That's fine by Mom, she's glad to have two tv's in the house...Gabriel's chilling out with a "Dora the Explorer" marathon and on tv #2 we have Brett relxing to "Blue's Clues". Yep, hence the reason Mom can update the website. She never watches tv anyway!
Hopefully they kick this bug quickly...and HOPEFULLY Mom and Dad don't get sick!
Oh I almsot forgot a cute story from yesterday, Mom learned a new trick quite by accident. She applied a GREEN face mask (YES...to her own face)yesterday morning for about a half an hour and I swear the boys' followed my every order and were the most well-behaved I've ever seen! I think they were scared of the green monster!! So funny...
5 Jul - Happy Birthday Great-Grandma Dean...hope you like the pictures we sent (Mom did for us)!! Also a big Happy Birthday "shout out" to our cousins BRIAN and MIKE Melbourne!!
Just to get back on track we'd like to sing (scratch that...say "Happy Birthday") to our Great Aunt Marie all the way out in Arizona!! We sure do love your smiling face!! Be on the lookout for some "special" Lombardi Boys' surprise!!
Mom's excited about Aunt Cristy's visit next week and she has all kinds of stuff planned, but not planned she says. Basically, she has alot of ideas!!
The boys' are still doing really well with the potty training, Mom scaled it back after such an all-out blitz this past weekend.
Mr. Brett has a runny nose and a bit of a deep chest cough. We're trying to work through that without cutting his playtime too much. Mom swears when he's sick it's REALLY hard because he hates to be still. On the other hand when Gabriel is sick he just wants to be cuddled and held.
Ms. Sophie is VERY territorial...if it looks like comptetition for the boys' attention/affection she wants to get/destroy it!~ Poor Mr. Lion got his eyeball and half of his face chewed off today. Rather than proceed with intensive surgery Mom let the boys' go nuts with finger paints while Ms. Sophie spent some time out back thinking about the error of her ways. She seemede much better later on and just needs more chew toys of her own. The boys' artwork WEEEELLLLLL it was sooo very unique!!
Children hate medicine...KNOWN FACT...sooo Mom has tried every imaginable possibity to get Brett to take a little something for his cough. Once today she had success...then "fuget about it!" (Italian translation "No way!")
2 Jul - We took the boys' to see the movie "Cars". If it weren't for the 30 minutes worth of PREVIEWS they would have nearly made it through the whole thing...but as it would be they lasted about half of an hour into the actual "Cars" movie before curiousity over took and Mom and Dad called it a "valant effort".
Soooo, knowing they like watching movies better at home, where they can have some freedom to roam Mom and Dad stopped off at the local video store and picked up a few new movies to take home. 3 Jul - This morning we are all watching "Nanny McPhee" so far so good, we are ALL enjoying it!! Even Dad who has a long weekend with the family! We keep pausing it, because the "Potty Timer" is ALL important but so far we're having a great morning, yucky rainy weather aside from it all.
They're calling for rain all weekend so Mom promised to get us to the pool today for a swim "just in case!" But, there is a catch....isn't that ALWAYS the case?!? We have to go with her and help get a bit more landscaping rocks for the yard first.
Potty training is still underway, in fact, Granma Dwight just sent the boys some new undies!! Sooo cute they have zoo animals and we tell the boys they have to keep them nice and dry so they need to go in the Potty. We are having far more success stories than setbacks these days. But we all know patience is a must, I mean these poor guys are trying to unlearn something they've done for over two years...go potty in their diaper.
Sophie is still getting along famously with her adjustment to the new family. She got in a wee bit of trouble yesterday, Mom got some "good job" pottying presents for the boys' --Gabe got a "Dora" doll and Brett got a "Blue's Clues". Well Miss Sophie tried to chew Blue's face off. She only got to the nose and some stuffing but Mom caught her in time. Brett sat with Mom at the table while she performed some surgery and he was delighted when she (Blue's Clue) was all better! Gabe of course kept scolding Sophie. He kept telling her "Bad Sophie...No chew!" He's quite the enforcer.
Aunt Cristy is coming out for a visit next month. That'll be awesome (or as the Mass family says"wicked fun"!) She'll be here for a long weekend, and it'll be great for her to see the boys'...it's been awhile and we've missed her!
29 June - Yesterday the boys' and I went to meet Rob for lunch and then back to his work to meet his class, they were graduating. The boys' loved all of the attention!!
We are in the process of getting the house on the market...wish us luck, man I hope it sells quickly so we can focus on the move.
But in between that time we are getting excited about our trip to Mass. for Auntie Dree's wedding!! Whohoo!! The boys' will get to see both Granma's at once. My Mom is coming up for the wedding and to help take care of the boys' since both Rob and I are in the wedding party. It's going to be fabulous! Wedding's are such happy times and being with family is so wonderful!!
28 June - Mom says S-O-R-R-Y for the delay in both story and picture updates. Life's been happening and she got a little behind...(well she has a good size bootie but you know what we mean!)
Let's see where to start...Auntie Sharon and "CoCo" came over to celebrate Sharon's birthday with us...we love playing with them. We thought all of the birthday singing was for us and we got shy/upset but then when we realized there was cake and ice cream we were good as new!!!
We are talking up a storm...literally...we can tell you all kinds of things. Mom's used to it because she's with us all day, but Dad seems surprised sometimes by some of our stories. We string sentences together and just talk and talk!!!
16 Jun - We're off to the "Potty Training" preliminaries...can we call it that? Maybe warm-ups is closer...but we'll get there in due time. Mom is such a spazz these days...she tried to turn off the water in the bathroom faucet with the light switch! And we're supposed to learn from her?!!!! Keep us in your payers...we'll need 'um til Dad takes time off from work to work with us in a few weeks...what a blessed relief that will be for us boys'!! We love Mom and she's trying but Dad ROCKS!!
What a difference it makes when BOTh boys wake up and get out of the RIGHT side of bed. We're off to a beautiful day! Gabriel (normally a cranky child in the AM) woke up and climbed in bed and talked to me and then hugged on Sophie for a bit. No crying, no whining...it was sheer delight.... Then Brett (the positively chipper bird in the morning) came and joined us and we're having breakfast. After breakfast it's nig boy underwear on and POTTY TIME! We're also doing some daily modification to ease the potty training process...I've noticed they get too engrossed in their shows....so now they can watch one show each in the morning and one show each at night....THAT's IT. The rest of the day is World Cup, they don't care about watching that but mom can hear the scores and Sophie has background noise when we are outside. A perfect fit! Rob and I were laughing that when we are old (older) and grey (greyer) LOL we can look back and say "The boys' were potty trained during the 2006 World Cup...Pretty Cool! We're not rushing them but it would be super great if they we're close by the FINALS! Heehee
11 June - Wow lots of activity around the Lombardi house these days (well all the time, but REALLY lately). Saturday we commenced with "Operation Potty". The good lord blessed me with wonderful twins but he REALLY blessed me with Rob. He has been soooo wonderful! He's such a good teacher and so organized he puts me to shame...and I'm pretty "retentive"! Unless we are at the pool or the boys' are asleep (nap and bedtime) then they are in big boy underwear. We've amassed a nice stockpile so we can deal with the training schedule. We're tracking their progress and encouraging every step of the way. We'll get there, no doubt...when well in their own time of course!
We're still going to the pool all the time the boys are having so much fun there. They look forward to coming home to check on "the dog" as Gabe refers to Sophie. Brett calls her "Soso". Gabe likes to give her dog biscuits whenever it's time and he also lets her go in or out when she's at the door! Brett likes to play with her and wrestle and Sophie seems to enjoy having someone to play with...she's got the best of both worlds!
The boys' vocabulary is progressing rapidly. They both love telling me things, what they want, what they DON'T want, etc. Some cute new phrases/developmental anecdotes: Brett sees a Wal-Mart and asks for an ICEE and tells me red for him and Blue for Gabe. How can I refuse that? Then I ask Gabriel where Sophie is and he finds her and replies, "I found the dog!" Yes that exact phrase. They are forming very nice sentences on a daily basis. It's delightful. ** Had to take a quick break from the update to run and cheer for Gabe...he just had a "no-accident" peepee on the potty! Whohoo...I think he cheered for himself more than either Rob or I could...so sweet.
The daily antics of Brett & Gabriel, as reported by Mom:
3 Jun - Oh what a fun day for the boys'! Dad took them out early today...the Park..McDonald's playplace and then when they got home we all went to the neighborhood pool. These guys are total fish babies!! Man they LOVE to swim. Brett swims all over the Olympic-sized pool and Gabriel loves to jump off the side into the pool. Today he was doing it without hands, he'd just wait for Daddy and then jump, OVER and OVER. And Mr. Brett well he'd swim off to wherever there were other kids, especially older girls. He found a group of about 8 12 year-old girls and I just watched him flirt and love all of the attention. These are guys are soooo entertaining!! We plan on taking them back again tomorrow!! Hello summertime fun!
31 May - Today the boys' and Mom rearranged the backyard...we mean "Playground". Mom's learning if she mixes it up now and again we will play like we've never seen the stuff! So having said that she moved our playroom around and we played for about an hour in there with our toys...Mom was happy that we were using them again.
We also did some watercolor painting and did some artwork with ink pens. We're learning to only draw on our paper and special books, this seems to make Mommy happy!
We even helped Mom wash the new car...Daddy has us really trained for helping with this and we're pretty darn good!! Maybe if we help them for 16 years or so they'll buy us cars?!?!
