Stories 30 Oct - Let's see the boys' are all ready for Halloween tomorrow night, we are taking them to the "Zoo Boo" and maybe a bit of trick-or-treating in the neighborhood afterwards. The whole family is involved in the costume theme this year (again..last year we all wore green sweatsuits and went as "Gang green") This year....we ARE the Wiggles. Look for pictures soon. Mom fixed up everyone's costumes and even turned our wagone into "The Big Red Car"!!! We are gonna be sooo cool! There is a story attached to one of the newest pictures. You may notice a picture of a bug. Well the story goes like this: Playing outside one day and Brett goes to put something in his mouth, normally it's a stick, or leave. Sooo mom said the usual, "Not for your mouth...put it down or bring it to Mom." He attempts to bring it to Mom but gets halfway and starts flicking his hand, then he just keeps coming. So mom goes to check what it was and low and behold the BUG is what she found. Brett must have tried to put it in his mouth and when it moved he dropped it really fast! I just had to save it and show Dad and take pictures of it...you know so he can look back at some of his "firsts"!! Thankfully he reacted properly and didn't actually eat it! YUCK So the boys' are into hugging each other more now. They'll play so well together. If one has two of something the automatic response is to give one to the other. They share much better these days, we still have some moments of possession but I'm sure that's normal and healthy as well. And just for today...whoever created the daylight savings time OBVIOUSLY did NOT have children. So the boys' don't know the time has changed and therefore Mom was up at 6 a.m. with Brett and then Gabriel awoke at 6:30 a.m. Their little circadian rythms' are set...no alarm clocks needed here! Great news...Grandma is coming out for Thanksgiving!!! Whohoo...we are ALL soo excited! Well, that's it for now...Dad's got dinner ready and we've got some hungry boys' in the kitchen. 20 Oct - This past weekend the boys' had a great time. Friday night Auntie Raquel and Uncle Thad and lil' CJ came over for a visit. CJ stayed with us while Raquel and Thad went to see Chris Cagle in concert. The boys' totally adore CJ and everything he did made them laugh. It was alot of fun for everyone! Then Sunday was our Central Texas Twins' Club picnic. It was great...lots of food...lots of fun...and the boys' loved seeing all the other twins'! There are pictures posted from the picnic. I still can't believe how much they are growing, when we go in to check on them at night Rob and I just both look at each other amazed by how big they are. We've been really busy cleaning the garage and redecorating/decorating around here, so today Mom's going to nap with the boys'. We told her she could nap but only if she got our site updated!! We know she remembers what suspenses and deadlines are!
14 Oct - Well it's 6 a.m. and Mr. Brett has decided we need to start the weekend earlier than usual. He doesn't want to play on his own just yet so looks like I'll be watching an early Sesame Street episode with him in the recliner. Intellectually stimulating for mom? NO...for Brett? Y-E-S.... Special bonding time with him one-on-one...That's the name of this game.
Alrighty, 7:30 a.m. Gabriel rises and shines. Brett's still not ready to give up his lapseat with Mom. Appears today may require alot of cuddles, but hey that's fine with me. I'm sure there'll come a time when I'll be wishing for more cuddles from these growing boys'. Aside from tonight being Lombardi Pizza Night, the boys' have a special treat. Our friends Raquel and Thad are bringing C.J. over for the evening and we'll watch him and the boys' will get to follow around an older boy. They love watching everything C.J. does. Sunday we're planning on going to the Twins' Club Fall Picnic. Decorating pumpkins, lots of food and playing with other twins'. Should be alot of fun, the weather is supposed tobe nice too! 12 Oct - Well it's 9 a.m. and we've already practiced drinking out of cups! Yea we're pretty good. Mom's removed a splinter from the palm of Gabriel's hand (he was such a good boy). He came up to me pointing to it and then pretty much let me remove it, amazing in my book! Brett brought over his "Finding Nemo" dvd so he's watching it right now. He's trying to say fish all the time but it sounds like "ishy". I finally figured that one out. They have their own counting system. It goes "da...da...da" they especially love doing this standing on the coffee table when someone is sitting on the couch and catches them when they jump off. It's funny because Brett likes the counting and jumping better than actually jumping. And Gabriel well he loves the jump, it's a big production...arms out and one leg bent up in some kind of pose. Precious!!! 9 Oct - Oh the joy of cooler fall weather!! The boys' absolutely love playing outdoors, for just about the entire day. The weather is so perfect we can leave the backdoor open and they can come and go at will. They seem to really enjoy this independence! It allows them lots of opportunities to explore and play and their own pace. We can see and hear them the whole time so it's also a very safe environment. Talking and talking, they are such chatterboxes! Still hard to understand all they say but some words are becoming more and more clear. They still are big into imitating. I've been doing some redecorating projects and they now like to play with toy drills, hammers, and paintbrushes. So cute to see the little builders at work. I hear them waking up from naptime so I need to go free them to play some more today!! 4 Oct - Yesterday was Daddy's birthday. The boys' helped me all day and I kept talking about Daddy's birthday so by the time he got home from work they were soooooo excited to see him! Well in their rush to get to him at the door they crashed into each other and Brett butted his head into Gabriel's face. Long short is that Gabriel got the first black eye. Luckily it's not a real shiner but it is a bruise under his eye. It only took him a few minutes to cry and then he was off playing with brother and Daddy. So not to be outdone, tonight after baths Brett bumped his head and got a pretty good size knot right in the middle of his forehead. Likewise, a few tears and he was off playing.
On more uplifting news...the boys' and I now have "arts and crafts" time together in the morning. I've been working on some redecorating projects and now they sit at the table with me and they'll color, or build with their blocks, or look at books. Today they played with yarn and did some coloring. I'm gearing up for the big project....FINGER PAINTING!! I'll be sure to get photos and video when I do.
Speaking of video, I have to load the latest. We got the boys a microphone on a stand and they both like it but Gabriel LOVES....he'll talk and talk and drag that thing around. Rob got some video of our little Rock Stars! These days if you ask the boys' if they'd like to go outside Gabriel heads for the door but Brett...nope he goes to the freezer and tells you (in his own language) Ice Pops are part of going outside. It's too funny! After bath Gabriel has started a new trick. He'll grab the q-tip and when you say clean your ears he'll clean one and then look at you and clean the other...so cute! One last bit, they both are really learning table manners! When I say "wipe your mouth" they do it every time! They are still swimming, we got in today for about 40 minutes. Trying to get the last bit of summer fun in before fall comes around here. 30 Sep - HAPPY "18 MONTHS"!!! Wow it's hard to believe my babies are 1 1/2 year olds! They sure do keep things interesting around here! Everyday is an adventure and they are such wonderful little boys'. 24 Sep - Been awhile since Mom updated the stories! We've been keeping her and Dad busy and AMUSED! We love to swim...now without our floatsuits. Mom even let us skinny dip one day! We REALLY loved that! We are definetely napping once a day now. Most days we HAVE to go outside as much as possible! We don't care if its still hot...like 100+. Outside is FUN!!! We love to ride our stick ponies around and chase each other, ESPECIALLY when Mom hums the Lone Ranger theme!! We can climb into our swings outside and sometimes we like to buckle ourselves in to let Mom and Dad know we mean business! We love to talk and get really chatty with phones. But we know the difference between play phones and real phones and we WANT....no NEED to play with the real phones! We can even do some programming, like today we changed the language for the home phone to Spanish!! Looks like Mom and Dad don't even know about that one....heehee!! There are many more stories but we're headed to bed and Mom and Dad look like they are tired too! 13 Sep - Tuesday. Well thankfully there was a bit of sunshine today, it's been raining for two days. We needed the rain actually but the boys' were getting a bit stir crazy. Soooo today we went for a long walk and played outside for a couple of hours. They even got to play when it started lightly raining again. I don't think they even noticed! They loved the newly made mud! They are growing sooo fast! They started sitting at the dinner table like big boys. No booster...they behave so well and seem to like not being confined. They also have moved beyond the toddler silverware and are using forks. Very well!!! They can get quite a bit of food on there and get it to their mouths! They are sooo proud of themselves... They are so amazing and constantly a source of joy, wonder and love. 8 Sep - Oh what a beautiful sight!! The boys' got some new toys. Each got their own mini cordless, battery-powered vacuum. Since they enjoyed imitating me when I vacuum and trying to help I thought they'd enjoy these little gadgets. Sure enough, first thing in the morning they grab their own vacuum, flip the switch on and take off. So far this morning they've vacuumed the den, their playroom and their bedroom. I tell you this is a sight that sets a mothers' heart a FLUTTER! :-) They love chasing each other and Gabriel now says "I get gou" (I get you)...they even do it in the pool. They'll go around and around after each other. Their imitating is amazing! They like to try to clean the pool with the skimmer. They also LOVE to sweep the kitchen floor! We're working on picking up our toys but it seems that isn't as much fun to imitate! Last night after dinner the boys' played outside for nearly an hour...the weather was finally less humid. The boys' just kept climbing up their slides and sliding back down. They had mommy and daddy for an audience and LOVED the attention! Gabriel even tried to slide down over his brother and did a perfect forward roll...head tucked and everything! Yeah, learning to fall properly may save us some injury time...I hope! After his roll down the slide he got right up and start clapping for himself. Daddy's got class tonight so it's me and the little fellas. We're gonna Play...Play...Play!!! 6 Sep - Came into the boys' bedroom earlier today to find they had both climbed on top of the changing table and were playing with things on the shelves. I calmly asked them how they planned on getting down...I don't think that registered. Helped them down and they haven't tried again...yet! Both still love putting clear buckets on their head and walking around like astronauts. Gabriel tried to eat his snack through it! Too funny. They are getting sooo good at building with their megablocks and pop-onz! 1 Sep - Exploring the boys' great teeth today and low and behold if Brett isn't working on his very back molars already! I thought that he might get a break since they say most children get their whole set by 3! Well sure enough he has those puppies just about to break through. This probably explains his wakings during the night. I understand these last molars can be quite the "bear". It really only seems to bother him at night. Bless his heart he just plays so much during the day I guess we keep him good and distracted! We went swimming again today and they just had to help Mom clean out the pool, they had their little skimmers and just kept trying to scoop like Mommy does. It's so wonderful that they enjoy the water so much! We can enjoy ourselves outside for a bit. Let's see there are updates...I couldn't wait on the rearranging rooms. As of yesterday when Rob got home from work I had reclaimed the den for us and giving the boys a PLAYROOM! When I showed it to the boys' they LOVED it...they stayed and played for over an hour. I also rearranged the nursery/bedroom to get them prepared for toddler beds this month. Sooo with all of this "like new" to them rearranging they have done some pretty darn funny things! Brett somehow managed to climb back up and into a crib. Gabriel climbed into a shelf unit and couldn't get himself out (his plump rump was blocking movement!) They are so animated and talkative. They definetely keep me entertained. Rob has some surgery tomorrow and so the boys' and I will be going to pick him up, post-op. Daddy will be in good hands this weekend with my new "nursing recruits". 30 Aug - The boys' are 17 months old today! WOW, next month they'll be a year and a half! Time really is going fast. These guys are growing, learning and changing so much everyday. Some days it's as if they change by the minute or hour!! We've been keeping busy ever since Mom got back from her birthday vacation. The boys' are swimming all of the time. Exploring EVERYTHING, I didn't think there was as much more to explore for them. But redecorate their bathroom, childproof it and it's a WHOLE NEW world for them. We have to keep an I out for "tag teaming". Right off one tried opening the child safety lock on the toilet so the other could try to slide a hand in there. We hope to get their playroom completed within the next month or so. That will also witness a transition to toddler beds (THANK YOU GRANDMA DWIGHT!) The boys' are pretty much on a one nap a day schedule. Now we're trying to fine tune the time so they can last throughout the day more and not have "meltdowns" before dinner. Their nightime schedule has changed a bit as well. No more "Wiggles" before bed. That's just too much stimuli. Instead we finish dinner, play outside (the coolest part of the day at a mere 95 or so!! UGH), take their baths and have storytime in a quiet, calm environment. Gabriel still sleeps soundly through the night. Brett was waking once or twice a night and the hope is this "calming" nightime ritual will help him relax and rest more solidly. The darlings are napping now so Mom's off to do some housework. Wednesday 24 August - WELCOME HOME MOMMY!!! Day 5 - Well Daddy done good... Mommy came home, the house was still here, it was tidy, we looked like we were fed, clothed, and cleaned. Most of all we were happy to see her! Today we took a road trip to the mall where we were gonna get our pictures done. Keyword - "Gonna"!!! The place didn't suit our taste and they wouldn't let us play with anything, so after 30 minutes of vocalized non-interest, Daddy finally got the hint, and we left with no pictures.... Basically, the rest of the day we spent just playing and waiting for the time to pass until Mommy would be home, then there she was in the airport terminal looking like our "Heavenly Mother"... The most beautiful mommy in the world, and we sure missed her.... ...and that is the story of "5 Days with Daddy" as experienced by Brett & Gabriel Now if you'll excuse us, we have some catch-up hugs & kisses to attend to!!! Tuesday 23 August - MOMMY COMES HOME TOMORROW!!! Day 4 - Well not too much to tell, we spent all day at the house wrecking the place. We had a blast, and most of the day Daddy was on the floor with us reading to us and giving us lots of hugs & kisses... He even built a LEGO tower we destroyed 30 seconds later... I think he misses Mommy, he kept complaining today, looked like he was in pain... we think we shoud've stopped jumping on his back a lot earlier.... Well that's it for now... Can't wait to see you tomorrow Mommy!!! Love you!!!! Monday 22 August - HUMP DAY!!! Day 3 - Well you know when Mommy left we thought Daddy would break down... but I gotta hand it to the dude, he's doing great!!! We did some playin' today! A lot of outside time... Then after lunch Daddy took us to "Kidzville" indoor play area and we had a blast! I ( Gabe) kept climbing up on all the play stuff... I was like a " Monkey"! My favorite thing to do was go in & out of the bouncy until finally I rolled off of it! I ( Brett) loved the houses.. I found a bunch of books and even played with the oven and refrigerator... We also divided Daddy, so for over two hours he was running after one of us then the other... Thank god his back is feeling better!!!! Poor Daddy though, cuz there was this 4-year old boy named "Abra" that wouldn't stop bugging daddy. We kept running away to have daddy chase us, but the kid just followed him everywhere... It seems like everywhere we go, children love him... Too bad... he's ours, and we're not sharing!!! Then after dinner we played outside and even got to swing... We also almost emptied the pool on ourselves... Hey, we were hot! N-Night!!!!! Sunday 21 August - HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Day 2 - Though we didn't make it to church today... Daddy was saying "Oh My God" a lot! I think his back is hurting... Mommy, are we heavy or is he getting old??? I decided since we were having soooo much fun yesterday, why not start the day early, so I (Brett) got up at 0530 and jump started the day... Gabe slept in til 0700. We took a ride toWalmart, we needed some food... we fought in the cart and yelled a lot, but the old ladies all around us just kept watching anyway... Why do they do that? When we got back we were sooo tired from the yelling and fighting, we took a long 3 hour nap, then it was on!!! After lunch it was game-time and we trashed the place... (check out the pictures) Daddy decided he needed to get us out in the pool to calm us down a little... but just as we were about to go out there, we heard from Mommy.. WE EVEN SAW HER TOO!!!! Love that webcam thingy! MOMMY WE MISS YOU xxxooo Then after swimming, we calmed down, but DANG if we weren't grouchy and hungry! Daddy fixed us a big dinner, and we even had little ice creams... (check us out) M-M-GOOOOOD! Man, we're getting that look again.... Time for bed! Saturday 20 August - The next five stories begins the tale of "5 Days with Daddy"! Today, Mommy took a trip to visit Grandma Jesse. Daddy says "we were keeping her real busy... and she needed some much deserved R & R"... What's R & R? Well, it doesn't matter, Daddy's NOT GETTING ANY! We woke up and played a lot this morning, Daddy really enjoys listening to music in the morning, and we like "head banging" to it.. Some photos reflect our morning antics!! Shortly after breakfast we had Jordan drop by and play for a half hour... we like Jordan, he likes the "Wiggles" too... Daddy had his hands full, because Jordan's mommy left for a little while... but he's the man, so it was no problem!! Then this afternoon we took a trip to Canyon Lake and visited Uncle Thad, Auntie Raquel and CJ... on the way I (Gabriel) got sick, but two minutes later I was bouncing like nothing happened. Don't worry Mommy! We got to play in the water and splash and swim, but when it was over we were soooooo tired, we demanded Daddy drive us home.... LOUDLY DEMANDED!!!!! When we got home Daddy already had dinner made, he makes the best cheeseburgers in the world. I don't know how he prepares food so fast... but we like it! Well Daddy is looking at us for bedtime, so we're gonna take ourselves to bed now... we'll write more tomorrow! We Love you Mommy & Grandma Jesse if you are reading this, and we're having lots of fun with Daddy... we're training him real good for you Mommy! We miss you... see you in just four days! 17 Aug - The boys' had their doctor's visit today and man they are doing great! Up in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. Head Sizes they are top of the class! Here are the new stats: Brett - Height - 33" Weight - 25 lbs 14 oz. Gabriel - Height -32.5" Weight - 27 lbs. 6 oz. They are both wearing size 2T now. Shoes are 7's. We're back to working on one nap a day. Their bedtime is 8:30 p.m. and they are up at 8 a.m. They still eat just about everything these days. Did I mention they are such D-AH-LINGS?!?! 12 Aug - Within one our of waking they had tore through the den. Blocks, Pop-ons, Books, Rode their trucks, played with cars, you name it. Brett tried putting on his own shirt today. Gabriel rode his golf clubs like stick ponies. Gabriel talks to the tv. Actually he yells at it when the Wiggles stop. I use the DVR/TVO for the shows and that way we can watch a couple of shows a day. Well as soon as the recording stops it goes to a blue screen and he KNOWS what that means! He'll walk right up to the tv and throw his hands in the air and start bossing it around. It is so funny, we actually look forward to the end of the shows just to watch his theatrics. More practice today drinking water from regular bottled waters. They did AWESOME! No spills, just chugged back some water...took a break and drank some more. I was so proud, I clapped and then they love clapping for themselves too!
