29 June - What a nice surprise...Gabriel slept through the night from 8:30 p.m. until 9 a.m.! Brett only woke up once at 2 a.m. and then slept until 9:30 a.m. Can you say WELL RESTED MOTHER?!?! LOL

So far this morning both boys are riding their little cars forwards! Up until now they only managed to push themselves backwards. Yeah! Gabriel has learned about tip-toe and sometimes will dance around on tip-toe, too cute. This morning I sneezed and Gabriel imitated me...too funny, then he kept throwing his head back and going "Ah choo". So we played doing that for a good 5 minutes.

We're headed out this morning for a few errands before the thermostat rises too high!

28 June - Back home from our visit to Arizona. Everyone had a great time and it was nice to have that side of their family get to see the boys'. Some for the very first time! Most of the vacation was spent in the swimming pool (see pics!). It seemed to take the boys' no time to start trying to swim. They are doing wonderful at keeping their heads up and not swallowing water like before. Brett excels at the dog paddle and Gabriel likes to roll over front to back again and again!

Speaking of dogs, the boys' got to spend alot of time around "Roxy" the dog. She was great with the boys', by the second day both boys were in awe of her. Brett says "woof" now.

They must have been as tired as their Mom and Dad because they've both been getting some pretty catch-up sleep! Brett is having a bit of discomfort with his new breaking through teeth. Yes that's right, his canine teeth are starting to come through! I'm still amazed at these guys. The norm is 3 years old for all 20 baby teeth and they both have 12 now and looking to have 16 teeth before 18 months!! MY GOODNESS! They are eating some different foods and eating bigger pieces. With all of these teeth they are able to do some pretty good chewing!

Now that we're all settled in back at home we are looking forward to a visit from Grandma Dwight on Friday, she'll be here a bit over a week! She's bringing a SUPER-DUPER surprise for the boys! Can't wait to have some of those pics to share.

Well now that we're back I'll keep updating the site so check back often!

18 June - Gearing up for our trip to Phoenix, AZ tomorrow to visit with the Lombardi side of the family. It'll be nice to have all those Father's together for Father's Day. Hopefully the flight will be okay for the boys...it's a 2 hour non-stop (yea) and they have their own seats! We're taking their car seats and using them on the plane, I heard that since they are already used to traveling in them it may make things easier on everyone. Funny, I used to overpack for myself on trips...now I minimalize for myself and go bonkers for the boys'!

Still really hot around these parts but we got outside for a bit today and worked on sidewalk art...not to be confused with graffiti! LOL I'll post the pictures soon. Both boys were making marks all over! Yea...only a few "no, the chalk is not for eating".

New pictures show the before and after for Brett's haircut. His is noticeably different, Gabriel's just a trim in the back. No need to trim the bangs because his "Gaito" forehead is growing faster than his hair! If you're a Gaito you know what I mean! LOL While trimming their hair I had to keep getting more combs...they wanted to comb their OWN hair, then later they wanted to comb each other's hair! It was sweet.

Before Haircut... TA-DA...AFTER!!

It's almost afternoon nap time and yes Mom's going down for this one! They are finishing up their Einstein Macdonald's Farm video and it's funny because Gabe has his fingers through his overalls and is dancing around like he's at a square dance! Yeehaw!

14 June - Okay another scorcher here...we've been keeping indoors. Lunch was fun, the boys both were having a hard time spearing their pasta with the fork so they started picking it up with one hand and putting it ON the fork and THEN eating it! Now that's determination to use utensils! I was very proud of them.

More time spent "childproofing on the fly". I go into their room to check on them and Gabriel is perched on their stereo attempting to climb onto the windowsill. Brett,? he's already DONE that and CLIMBED INTO the crib! Of course I help him get out...and then start rearranging their room. Hopefully, Rob won't be TOO surprised. Probably not as I do that elsewhere in the house! LOL

Dinner shortly... is going to be one of favorites. Chicken tenders for both and sweet potatoes for Gabe and Green Beans for Brett. They both eat everything but they do have their preferences! Dessert...Mandarin oranges for Gabriel and Pineapple for Brett.

Oh almost forgot my latest "idea" I took sponges and saoked them in chamomile tea and put them in the freezer so when their teeth/gums hurt they can chew on them and relax????

One more update to the room situation...have to move cribs again...now that Brett can't use the crib as the end point he fell off trying to get to the windowsill! Oh my what a day...having a glass of wine while I type this and Brett brings his golf club over to try to snag the wine glass off of the computer desk!! C-A-L-G-O-N...hmmmm...think so. Love to all, Autumn and the adventureous boys'

13 June - Man is it HOT here! The boys and I ventured out for a quick walk and a bit of playtime in the backyard but it was just TOO HOT! They are understanding sooo much these days. Say, "Wanna go for a walk?" They are standing at the garage door, ready to get in their wagon or strollers. Say, "Wanna go outside and play?" They are running to the back door! Today, I asked Brett to get another book and he walked right over and picked out one and brought it back over for us to read! Later I asked the boys' if they were ready for some milk and Gabriel walks into the kitchen and reaches for the refrigerator door!! I'm amazed by them all of the time.

True story..Brett grabs both of my ears to pull my face to him for big wet kisses! And not to be outdone Gabriel tries to box my ears! I had to explain that's not nice. On a "not nice" note Gabriel is sporting a new bite mark from Brett. It's a doozy...complete with markings to show he tried to pull away with Brett still clamped on to him.

Naps are much easier these days and they go down for the night really easy since we've been working with their "sleepy" schedule. Basically, giving them a little more time to unwind. It's actually going to help with the trip to Phoenix this weekend because of the time we arrive and the time difference and such. We're all looking forward to seeing family and sharing the boys with everyone out there. I'm sure everyone will be amazed at how fast they are growing, just like we are everyday!

12 June - This weekend was Dad's special weekend with the boys'. He took them to a birthday party for Clara, a 2-year-old family friend on Saturday. The party was at a "bouncy land" where everything was inflated. Rob said they all three had a blast. Everybody wore themselves out, including Dad! I'm trying to load some video from it tonight. There are also some new pics!!

On Sunday, Mom went to yoga and Dad took the boys' to McDonald's playplace for lunch and an hour of hardcore play! Afterwards Dad took them to Lowe's to do some "guy shopping!" I am so fortunate that Rob always helps when I need it most. This weekend I got to get some rest and take care of myself and he got to spend some real quality time with the boys.

Tonight after dinner we took the boys for a nice long walk around the neighborhood in their new single strollers. There those collapseable, lightweight ones. But I wanted them to get to to see things differently and I think they'll help for our trip next week. These strollers are much more portable than our super-duper double-decker!! You know what they say about VARIETY!!!

10 June - Gabe loves to get at Rob's and my shoes and he actually tries to put them on, it's too funny. Their arms are getting longer because they can reach soooo much more these days! Today Gabriel said "all done" and "duck"/"kak" (quack) together. Brett calls Elmo "Mo" and boy does he get angry when he can't do what he wants!

This morning we practiced the "Tommiguard" harness system again and made it 3 houses down and back...whohoo!

Okay so my boys' love to watch the WEATHER CHANNEL! Everytime the weather comes on or we have it on that channel they are mesmerized. I think it's because of all of the colors for the radar and forecast screens but who really knows.

Finally we have success with the "See and Say!" Both boys can pull the lever hard enough to make it make the noises and Gabriel just about wore it out this morning. He'd walk around carrying it constantly cranking it. Needless to say we all know our Barnyard Animals now!!! LOL

What a wonderful Friday night dinner date I had. Two of the sweetest angels accompanied me out to dinner. We had a wonderful time..they loved everything. They have healthy appetites normally but tonight they were gorging! Get this...at 14 1/2 months they each ate their whole children's meal and some fruit for dessert. It was great going out with them on a Friday night and coming home without a mess to clean up before baths and bedtime. I'm thinking this should be a "Lombardi ritual". Even when Dad gets back on a regular shift and can join us! It really was easy, and I felt like the luckiest woman in the world sitting there with these two little gentlemen.

9 June - I've created a Father's Day "web tribute" for Rob. He's such a Super Dad and Wonderful Father to these "Little Pats Fans"!

We just finished a really nice lunch, the boys' liked the asparagus with penne pasta. I was surprised to learn that these guys LOVE raisins! I knew they liked the "craisins" but they went bonkers over plain 'ol raisins! Right now all I hear is sucking noises, as the boys' are tearing up some ice pops!

Let's see today I went in to check on Gabriel who'd been playing in their room and he was sitting on the twin bed playing with his stuffed animals! So very proud of himself. Brett says "uh-oh" now. While outside mere moments ago Gabriel stood on the edge of the patio and took the step down completely unassisted by anything. It was so wonderful to watch him standing their all balanced and a little hesistant and then he just did it! Of course my heart skipped a beat but I knew he could and he did!!!! Brett is climbing ever higher on things. He uses whatever he's perched on to try to climb even higher. Today he lost his balance a bit and has a little bump on the side of his head and a tiny scratch on his ear from a "domino" type fall. He's perfectly fine, in fact he's dancing right now!

8 June - Whohoo! I finally got my VA Disability package completed and sent out! We're still about a 9-12 months away now from any money but I am SOOO relieved to have finally gotten that done! The gentlemen who helped me with the daunting paperwork was soo nice! He made my day! He was asking why I got out after 12 years of service and I explained (brief version) our story. That Rob and I couldn't get assigned together and since I was an officer and he was enlisted I was asked to resign my commission. I told him I had been thinking about writing a book about it all and he said "they could make it into a movie and that girl from the new Dukes of Hazzard...Jessica Simpson... could play you!" I was sooo flattered and told him how he had MADE MY DAY!!! I'll live off of that compliment for about A YEAR!! LOL

Rob had the boys today and when I got home they were soo happy! They'd been playing outside and going for walks. After a full day Rob had to go in and work a night shift until 10p.m. poor guy, he's amazing! I'm working on a really special webpage for him for father's day. He deserves that and sooo much more.

7 June - Oh thank goodness! Everyone's ears are perfect! Mom's paranaoia may have been all for another reason...while at the military ped (ugh!) we met a reserve nurse who works at a civilian ped clinic and she was fabulous. we got to talking and she recommended one of the ped's who herself has twins, she said they are very good with development monitoring and making sure it is charted by the Ped and not by parent's recollection or lack thereof! AMEN. Anyway, it's a good 30 minutes from here but I would love to have the boys with someone like that and that I could call anytime, not that I would but well it's just different having had a civilian ped and then switching to military here. I'm not happy with it and we're going to look into a change!

Stat update from today: Brett is 31 3/4" tall and weighs 25.8 lbs! Gabriel is 31 3/4" also and weighs 26.6 lbs.!

6 June - We couldn't get Brett in to the ped. today so I have to call first thing the morning.    Yesterday they tried watermelon and seemed to enjoy that.  Today they tried some decaf sweet tea and Brett loved it.  They still are just big fans of water and milk (fortunately for their health and all of these teeth!)  Mealtimes are fun, they are getting better at using their spoons and forks.  Occasionally even forking some of their own food and getting it all the way in their mouths!  Today we played alot of "hide and peek-a-boo" it's a toddler's take on the traditional hide and seek.  They run and hide and I say "where are you" and "peek-a-boo" and they erupt into gigles.  Now that they can play in their room also they like to circle in and around through their closet.  They've also been moving lots of their stuff from the den to their room!  Funny...alot like mom and rearranging things!  Well, they're in bed and I'm headed that way myself.  love to all, Autumn

4 June - The boys' spent some alone time with Dad today while Mom got to the gym. It really helped me feel better. Speaking of feeling better, hopefully Brett does. I think he may have developed an ear infection. I'm taking him to the doctor on Monday. With our upcoming flight to Phoenix at the end of the month I want to be sure he's up for an airplane ride. Wish us well!

3 June - Minor improvements CAN make huge differences! These two things were in direct result of twin action. 1) To stop them from taking out their diapers and throwing them all over, I started stacking them on their shelf above the changing table...soooo much easier for me now! 2) The boys were getting more difficult at diaper changing time, trying to get up, roll over, you name it...so I got some Sesame Street wrapping paper and put it on the bottom of the shelf that's over the changing table and VOILA! They love to look at all of the characters! They lay alot better just looking up. I think I'll change it every week or so to give them some variety. It truly amazes me, before the boys came into my life it took a major success at work to make me feel brilliant, and NOW the littlest things that make them smile make me feel WONDERFUL!

Touching story from last night. Rob had to work a super full day and basically was only home for 1 hr between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. The boys' were napping when he stopped in and so he really only saw them for 10 minutes. Sooo while I was cleaning/clearing and doing more childproofing to their room yesterday afternoon I pulled down their "Daddy doll". It's a doll Rob had made that has a picture of his face silkscreened or something on this "Daddy doll". The boys' hadn't seen it in quite sometime, oh did they love seeing daddy small enough to carry around and hold. And when you give the doll a hug he talks, it's Rob's voice recorded saying he loves them by name. They never really fought over it but when one put it down the other had it. So throughout the night they had Daddy with them. It was so heartwarming and touching to see.

2 June - Man that Brett is quick as a whip! He sees me do something and he's right there trying to do it, and most of the time succeeding. Today alone, he opened his closet door, the diaper genie, and tried to open the "lift top" coffee table. In addition to repeating actions he's really into turning things over and checking everything out from underneath. Gabriel is getting huggier and more affectionate everyday! He's such a snuggly baby. I'm blessed that Gabriel is a consistent and sound sleeper. His brother, Brett, well that's another story. Lately he's been waking up 2-3 times a night. Not sure what that's about, I initially thought teething but not sure. They both had mild, low-grade fevers this morning of 99.3 and 99.5. I gave them tylenol and will check again afther their naps. If there's no progress or it worsens we'll be off to the doctor, hopefully not. But then we've been blessed there as well because they really don't get sick often.

I was moving some furniture around (surprise...surprise) and the boys were trying to help push the couch. It was so sweet and I thought "oh my, there will come a time when I can ask for that help and they'll be strong enough to do it for me!"

Brett is sitting in the floor (with all of the new space) and watching, very intently, Sesame Street. Gabriel? He's running around, riding his "rock and roll" and pushing kitchen chairs around. Guess he's got the "redecorating" bug too!

1 June - The first day of June really roared in here...very heavy thunder and lightning with heavy wind gusts and driving rain all starting around 2:30 a.m., which is precisely when Brett woke up and pretty much cat-napped off and on until breakfast. The boys tried oatmeal today and surprisingly Brett loved it and Gabe thought it was ok at best. They enjoyed more cantelope, Gabriel eating whole sections at a time and Brett playing with it before finally eating some. We're all cleaned up now and mom even had time to grab a quick shower!! Whohoo... having some graham cracker snacks and watching Sesame Street on the couch before our morning walk. Mom says we're headed out today to "knock around" some...We thought we already do that with our toys here in the house! Oh well, you DO learn something new everyday...

Mom told us about Raige and Riley (see their pic and site link below)and their latest suitor! We aren't surprised, they are two lovely girls!! Guess these online relationships are harder than we expected...give us some time though! We ARE very focused when we want to be!

Mom says "wanna go outside for a walk" and low and behold they are both banging at the door to go get in their wagon!! Impatiently awaiting mom who still had to put on some shoes!! They enjoyed some ice pops as we strolled through the neighborhood, such a beautiful day here after such a stormy early a.m. Now they're off for naptime (Brett really needs it) getting cranky from lack of sleep last night!

31 May - Fun day with my buddies...Let's see, they've tried to feed each other at morning snacktime! That was so sweet, I watched when they didn't know I was looking and saw Brett try to give Gabe some of his rice cake. He teased him a few times before finally giving him a piece. They laugh alot and play with each other especially when they don't think their being watched.

Also at lunch we tried cantelope...of course, they LOVED it! These guys are just wonderful blessings. So easy to be with and such wonderful little men! After lunch, we played in the den for a bit and we cleaned out their toy box and worked on our "colors" and the meaning of "open and "close". Went pretty well I think until Brett got excited and whacked himself in the face with his electronic puzzle board. It hit him across the bridge of his nose and I waited for his response. He just looked at me first, then swatted at MY face and started to cry. I think he wanted me to see it hurt. He's much better now, in fact, those angels are both down for their afternoon nap...and Mommy is headed that way too!

Brett & Gabe

30 May - Took the boys' to Home Depot and tried out our newest "twin item"...the "TommiGuard" twin harness system. The boys' loved being able to walk around ... had some moments of frustration on their part when they wanted to go a different way but easily redirected them. We'll be practicing with the system more around areas without items to "touch" and "grab". All in all it worked very well and I was happy they got to do some walking around. They really love that. Exercise is very good for them, as they are napping heavily now!

Happy Memorial Day
... Thank You to All Who Serve and Have Served ...

29 May - Had a rough night here last night, severe thunderstorms with flash floods. Between the weather (thunder and lightning was really heavy) and the teething, both boys woke up and were pretty hard to get back to sleep. Needless to say, Rob and I are pretty tired this morning and the boys'...well they are "Ready to GO!!" Sooooo much energy.

It's been a few days since my last story...here's a recap...some new words...Gabriel: "CRACKER" and Brett "Yes good". Their molars are all (top & bottom) visible and just seem so big to me! No wonder they hurt, there aren't any sharp edges to break through.

26 May - Verbal understanding! This morning after breakfast the boys were playing and Gabe was getting frustrated because his toy couldn't be pushed any farther in the same direction...so I said "Turn it around." Don't you know at that time BOTH boys' started doing their spinning "around and around" dance in the middle of the floor! I laughed and applauded and it was the cutest!!! They obviously completely understand the meaning of the word "around", now we need to work on context?!
