27 Mar - Happy Easter!  The boys had their own treasure hunt in the backyard and they were so cute.  They caught on quickly to finding the goodies!  Then they got to play with one of their "early" birthday gifts from Grandma...their own Fisher Price lawn moers that blow bubbles when they push them.  They loved them and had a blast today.  They wore themselves out playing with Grandma today and were soo funny all day.

26 Mar - Granma Dwight got here safely.  Let the fun begin!  Today we took the boys and surprised them and Grandma with Disney's On Ice, "Finding Nemo!"   I hoped the boys would like all of the bright colors and costumes and BOY DID THEY!!!  It was wonderful and memories that'll never be forgotten.  Their faces lit up with scene changes and watching the characters skate right in front of us.  Rob got tickets for us nearly ON THE ICE...we were on the floor in the 2nd row.  It was fantastic and such a wonderful day...the boys were absolutely perfect for the 2 hour performance...well, Gabriel had to take a power nap on his Granma's chest for about 15-20 minutes during part of the show but he woke up right after intermission and LOVED the rest of the show.  I uploaded some photos from the show, have a look see!

love to all,

25 Mar - Thought I'd write this story as soon as it happened...YEAH for the boys, today they went down for their nap without a bottle of ANY sort!  Here's where we stand on weaning, they wake up at 7:00 and play in their cribs, talking and laughing until 7:30.  Then I change diapers and they have breakfast. (NO BOTTLE, a sippy cup of milk, which they LOVE now).  They play inside/outside, we go for a long walk, a little more play and nap by 1100.  And today NO BOTTLE...recently I'd reduced to a small 4 oz before nap but YEAH!  So now the only bottle remaining is the bedtime and we'll let them become one-year olds before that is adjusted.  I am SO VERY PROUD of these guys!

love to all,

23 Mar - Today was a fun day with the boys.  This morning they video chatted with their Uncle Val and then this afternoon they video chatted with Granma Dwight.  We played outside in the beautiful 80 degree weather during the day and did alot of dancing in the den in the evening.  The boys helped clean up after lunch.  I had gotten the broom and dustpan out to clean up and they grabbed them and were sweeping around the kitchen.  I have some video, I'll load another movie soon.  Unfortunately we had a few accidents today.  Gabriel banged his head pretty good on the tray of his high chair (he was being a cute clown), small bump and he's much better know.  Brett fell just before dinner.  When Rob picked him up he was bleeding again.  I thought at first he'd rebusted his lip, but NO he'd been walking with his tongue out and bit down on his tongue.  Poor guy, he can't get a break it seems.  I know it has to hurt him, but I'm becoming a wreck, the mere thought of them hurt has me tearing up these days.  Hopefully tomorrow will be less physical for my darlings.

love to all,

Autumn

11 Mar - The boys are walking so well, Rob and I are so very proud.  They continue to amaze me every day.  They love to feed themselves (fingers are still the preferred method) and they try EVERYTHING!  New additions to their gourmet palates are honeydew melon, cantelope, kiwi, waffles, french toast sticks, and PIZZA!  They sleep through the night a full 10-11 hours and are taking morning and afternoon naps of about 1 hour in duration.  They've mastered sippy cups and Gabriel is big into trying cup drinking these days.  They love to dance and climb on things and we have a blast just getting down on the floor with them and playing.  They are such wonderful little blessings.  I am grateful for these precious gifts.

21 Mar - So many stories since my last, where to start.  The picture of Gabriel in the exersaucer says "see story".  Well here's that one: I scanned the room for the boys and saw Brett and not Gabe, so I scanned again and stopped when I saw him smiling at me from the exersaucer.  I know I didn't put him there so I asked Rob if he'd put Gabe in there and he looked over and we both went "OH MY!"  Appears he had climbed up on one of his tabletop toys and leaned over and put himself into the exersaucer!!!  And the real kick is he was in it the RIGHT WAY!  I was so amazed and Gabriel was just chilling, laid back and smiling so big!

Both boys are soooo good at walking, they pick up speed, do great turns, bend over to pick things up without sitting and on and on.  This is fantastic but with this comes some bumps and bruises.  I told Rob that maybe we should give them nicknames for now...Bump and Bruise.  Let's see, Brett hit his eye and got a bruise over his eye, then Gabriel hits his forehead and then Brett falls and busts his lip open.  Oh yea, all in one day!!!  That was last week.  The new great thing is climbing, onto things, over things and especially the only stair in/around our home.  On the patio!  They are getting really good now but those first few times that they'd charge ahead and not see the step had me hopping trying to keep up with both of them.

Feeding is still going well.  They both get much more into their mouths now so that makes cleaning alot easier!  They love everything and I've started weaning them off of the bottles and have given them bits of milk to transition.  They both seem to be doing well with all of this change.  Well, I have to go work on the plan for this FIRST BIRTHDAY!  I'm soooo excited and in some shock too.  I can't believe my babies are almost one-year olds.

love to all,

Autumn

Kisses - Both boys are very affectionate and like to give and get hugs and kisses these days.  Brett has always like to give kisses...he keeps his mouth open wide, it's very cute.  And now Gabriel does the same kind of kiss.  Well today we had the music channel on tv, it was Smooth R&B (we alternate varieties of music daily).  A Toni Braxton song was on and the album cover appeared in the bottom of the tv screen (it was a close-up of her face), Brett walks over to the big screen and puts both hands on each side of her face and leans in to plant a BIG SMOOCH on her face!  It was adorable!!!

They seem to be getting over the worst part of their colds.  Brett had his a day earlier so I expect that Gabe will be feeling much better tomorrow like his brother.  YEAH!  And then we can get back to the gym.  I told the boys that for everyday that we go I'll put 50cents in a "do something fun" jar for them and we'll use it every month.  It's really motivation for me, but they get the benefit!  I thought it was a great idea...especially since I'd like to go everyday.

It's dinner time for these growing boys so I better get in the kitchen or they'll start chewing on the cabinets!  Just kidding!!

love to all,

Autumn

28 Feb - I can't believe tomorrow is March 1st and the boys' first birthday is coming so soon!  Here's some of the latest "Brett-n-Gabe" happenings.  Brett seems to be getting a nasty cold, hopefully we can stay ahead of it and help him kick it soon.  He and Gabe are walking up a storm and sometimes when they get sleepy before naptime they get a bit clumsy, well today he fell and hit his head and got a little knot with a bruise!  I was heartbroken, but then I told myself...as a mom to boys I'd better toughen up a bit!  :-)  Anyway, he's doing much better and is back to playing.  In the bath tonight I looked over at Gabriel and was like, "what are you doing?"  He kept bending forward and bending forward.  Then I saw!  He was putting his face to the water to try to get some in his mouth!!!  I was laughing...then he started laughing.  Gabriel's 8th tooth has FINALLY started to break through....right now the count is still 8 for Brett and 7 for Gabriel.  Brett started pointing to things when he babbles.  It's cute, like on the refiregerator there's a couple of baby pictures of friends and family and Brett was pointing and talking to the little girls like crazy!  They LOVE looking at themselves in the mirror!  I stop by so they can laugh whenever we pass one.  I'm going to try to find those safety mirrors for their room so they can walk around and see themselves.  Brett used a spoon twice today with yogurt!  I don't think it was an accident but he didn't seem all that impressed by it so he went back to letting me feed him.  I'll update more tomorrow...there's still sooo much!!!

love to all,

Autumn

25 Feb - Too cute...first, I had filled a large plastic tumbler full of  ice water and sat it by the computer...gonna do some updating!  (You know where this is going, right?!?!?)  Just as I come back from walking across the room I see a small hand and YEP....Brett pulled it right down on himself!!!!  It didn't hurt anything but his reaction was PRICELESS!  He looked at me and I was laughing and so he laughed too!  That'll teach me...I wonder who is learning more these days?!     Both boys are totally walking without help.  They'll let go of whatever they are holding on to and then start off ACROSS the room!  It's totally normal now to look and see one or both of them walking around the room.  They are at about 6 - 10 good steps before falling but they are doing AWESOME!   And then this morning...I'm watching Gabe, thinking what IS he doing?  He'd crawl and then do a wheelbarrel thing..you know like lift his butt up and go to hands and feet.  NOW I know what he was up to!!!  He'll crawl, do that "hands and feet, butt up" thing and then STAND UP -- and START WALKING!!  So he doesn't need anything to get him up to walking.  He's doing all by himself!  It is FABULOUS!!!   I am so proud of these guys, you can tell right?!?

love to all,

Autumn

It's OFFICIAL!  The boys are walkers.  Brett has been walking for a couple of days now.  Gabe is walking in smaller spurts.  Here's the details...you all know how tough a judge I am on accomplishing tasks...well Brett has been cruising and letting go and stepping out and away.  He then remains standing and can take 6-8 steps toward whatever.  He doesn't require the "come here to mom or dad" prompts any longer.  He's walking!  And Gabe stands up and more often than not will take a minimum of 2 steps, it's a bit harder for the stockier baby?!?  Anyway, they are walking nicely and we now are waiting for when they start doing it ALL OVER the place!

Vacuum Cleaner Story...

Normally when I vacuum the boys are up off the floor but in the room, like their chairs or walkers, etc.  Anyway, tonight for dinner we had a picnic.  Well sort of, I spread an old sheet in the living room floor and we had dinner there.   Some crumbs were on the floor so afterwards when they started playing I grabbed the vacuum for a quick touch up, so Dad wouldn't notice a mess in the floor! ;-)  Anyway, Brett loved it!!!!  He was chasing the vacuum cleaner and trying to pull it back by the cord.  Now Gabriel, well he is proof positive again how very different they are--he got scared and crawled away at warp speed only to pop back out now and again to see what was going on with Brett laughing.  Sooooo cute!

Here a few fun facts about Brett and Gabriel:

1) Our names mean:

   BRETT: Native of Britain.

    DANIEL: God is my judge.

    GABRIEL: God's able-bodied one.

     ROBERT: Famed; bright; shining

2) Our birthstone is aquamarine (Courage)

3) Our flower is a daffodil.

4) We were born in the Chinese year of the MONKEY!

5) Our astrological sign is Aries.

The Rambo of the play group has arrived! With an Aries baby around, you can expect lots of action and activity in your midst. Don't expect this tot to sit still with a rattle -- it just won't happen. The Aries baby is one who makes a lot of noise and will definitely be heard. There's really no choice! As a Fire sign, the little Ram will be dynamic and always up to something. HAPPY 10 MONTHS!  It's amazing how fast these little fellows are changing and learning and GROWING!  Yesterday they went to a Baby's first birthday party for their friend Rylan.  It was so cute to see these "big" little boys playing together all over the place.  We'll be having more playdates with Rylan so expect to see more pics of him too!

Updates to the sleeping scenarios.  We're on Day 5 of the new sleep schedule and it appears to be getting easier (for everybody).  Gabriel slept through the night and is now up with me at 0630 while his brother woke during the night but calmed himself back to sleep and he's still sleeping now.  The boys will have a schedule to go by and mommy feels like a new woman with some straight sleep of her own.

Yesterday I met up with some friends at a local fitness center in the morning and it was FABULOUS!  They even have childcare!!!  I didn't need it yesterday because Daddy had the boys but in the future we're looking to join and I'm so excited at that possibility!  The boys will get to interact with some different faces and I will too!  PLUS, for those that know me they have a steam room, indoor pool and HOT TUB...also, yoga and pilates classes all included in the membership price.  I'm researching now to find the best deal because this isn't the best time to take on an additional payment BUT the rewards will pay back more than words can say!

Hope you like the new pics.  Love to all,

Autumn

26 Jan - Lot going on around the Lombardi house today.  The boys had a well-baby check-up and they are doing terrific.  I'm so proud of them!  Their pediatrician gave us some information on working with the boys toward sleeping through the night.  Let's just say their afternoon nap was the implementation of the plan and it worked successfully but it was hard on all three of us.  Then tonight I knew what to expect at bedtime and it wasn't as traumatic.  All told they only cried for just under fifteen minutes but to us you would think it was hours.  It was heart breaking but I just kept reminding myself that this was for their good, as well as ours as a family.  Keep us in your prayers.

These guys are all over!  They are fast and super smart.  Trying to stay a step ahead is a mental/physical workout!  They both are able to stand up with little assistance and they let go for longer periods of time.  They are excellent with their musical walker.  They talk all of the time, it's so cute.  They definetely no their, mama, dada, and baba.  Now their making nana sounds and blowing spit bubbles!

Brett's cutting his eye teeth already and Gabriel's are starting to bulge now.  Even though their teething they still have super appetites!  We've added many new flavors and textures to our meals.  I really don't mind the mess because it's so wonderful to see them excitedly experimenting with new tastes.  They like baked beans, green beans, fish, fig newtons and the always favorite mashed potatoes and toast.

Next Wednesday we take the boys for the 9 month well-baby (yes I know they'll be a few days shy of 10 months!) They won't be getting any shots, just a check-up and I'm excited to see their stats.  They both have gotten alot taller (I can say that now that their standing and cruing) and Gabriel seems to have gotten a bit leaner while Brett is beffing up.  I really think they'll be very close again.

Anyway, everyone is fine here and tomorrow we plan on taking the boys to the zoo1  A first with daddy...then Sunday of course we'll be watching the Patriots beat the Steelers!

The self-feeding finger foods is still going great.  The boys love it and have been eating all kinds of things!  Cheese, breads, crackers, pasta, veggies, fruits, small chunks of meats and one thing we tried that WILL NOT be on our menu for awhile...COUSCOUS.  Tiny, tiny pasta the size of pinheads ALL OVER the kitchen!  It was hilarious but a cleaning nightmare!

Oh my and jell-o!  We tried a small bit one day and they loved it!  Of course I am not planning on letting these guys get too much sugar but the cool, jiggly jell-o was too much fun!

We bought a rocking, recliner for the living area and it was one of the best things we could have ever done!  The boys love to sit up in our laps and chill out, nap, or whatever!  It's great because it helps me be able to read to them both at the same time better.  I'm not sure who loves it more around here!  Rob reserved it already for football games, the boys love that too!

These guys are such a delight, I love them both so very much!

It's a New Year and there have been so many things going on around here.  The boys are into everything!  They both crawl at warp speed and are pulling up on anything they can.  They are taking a few steps with their learning walker.  Both are working on some more teeth!  Brett is working on 8,9 and 10.  Gabe is still working on 4, but 5 and 6 are coming through now too.

The baby food days are slipping away.  They want to feed themselves all of the time and today's lunch was their first meal they feed themselves everything!  They started with cheerios while I got everything ready and then progressed to pieces of toast, peas and then had bananas pieces coated in oatmeal for dessert.  They even drank their sippy cups at will.  It was such a site to see them totally in charge of their meal!

Rob is working a different shift these days (1 p.m. - 9 p.m.) so we are parenting a bit like ships passing in the night.  He's taken over the morning routine, which is great because he gets to see just how happy they are in the mornings.  I've added bathtime to my schedule, so my days are even fuller.  But it's all great.  I have dinner now with the boys so that helps ensure I eat too!

Well they are playing with their books again so I'm off to read them a story before naptime.

12/29/2004 - The boys have been having such a good time here with Grandma and Papa Dwight in Kentucky. They've gotten to do many firsts, from seeing their first snow and their first Christmas to riding on their first Carousel and motorized cars. They have a playroom, winter decorated with snowflakes from the ceiling a large Santa to watch over them in play and tons of toys all over. It's funny to see another house turned into Romper Room.
The boys have been in "culinary" heaven with table foods and more finger foods. They've tasted biscuits and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, spaghetti-o's and chicken noodle o's. They are loving this vacation!
They both are really babbling now, more sounds al strung together! We witnessed their first (that I've seen) bit of an altercation. Brett and Gabe wanted the same thing and were both very tired and cranky. Someone got fed up and smacked at one and the other pushed his brother to the ground and tried to sit on him. (I left out names for their privacy! LOL) Anyway, they really do play well together and are soooo full of smiles and giggles.
Brett knows and does "patty-cake" whenever anyone says the words. Gabriel's teeth are really coming out and he has another runny nose.
They both pull up on everything and are crawling at warp speed! We really have to keep a close eye on them these days!
Life is full of wonder and joy and everyone who comes in contact with these darling boys feels that same joy!
Thank you lord for the most wonderful Christmas of my life!

Love to all,
Autumn
