Stories 12/13/2004 - So much has been going on around here. Rob graduated from the Academy and we went to his Christmas party for work. It was nice to get dressed up and go out together. The boys stayed home with family in from Arizona. Their great grandparents; Charlie and Tillie and their great aunt and uncle, Nancy and Butch stayed with us for nice long weekend. We miss them already! Time with family always goes by too fast. Now we're preparing for our trip to my mother's next week for the holidays! Everything is going well, the boys have a bit of a cold but we are making sure they get lots of rest and fluids. As the new photo on the front page proudly displays, the boys started taking "big boy" baths and they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! They always loved bathtime before but now it's hard to get them out of the tub! Rob is off work tomorrow so we'll be going to get our first family/holiday photo. Love to all, Autumn 12/9/2004 - The boys are mastering the art of crawling, Gabriel is "Mr Speed" and Brett is a "Man of Focus". Gabriel goes off in every direction as fast as he can and Brett will move for a specific purpose in a defined path. They both love to pull themselves up to standing and do so as often as possible. We've been working on the proper way to fall on our bottoms, Gabe has mastered it and Brett has shown remarkable improvement. They are learning to walk it seems, when we hold their hands and encourage them to move they move their feet in alternating steps. It is very basic at this point but I see little fellows everywhere in the not to distant future! They still wake during the night for a feeding or two. I'm going to increase their daily meals to see if that helps them go through the night. They love to eat that's for sure! Finger foods? No problem for these guys, cheerios and finger puff foods are a cinch. We'll be moving on to better foods soon. They are eating stage 3 foods and seem to like the thicker texture. Some foods I still have to add cereal to because the boys like it thicker. They play well with each other and love to laugh and babble. My life is blessed and my days are full. love to all, Autumn 12/3/2004 - Tooth news...Gabe's 4th tooth (upper) is making a break for daylight and his 5th and 6th (lower) are right at gumline. Brett's working on 7 still but 8 is close to breakthrough as well. The boys went back to sleep for a couple of hours and this morning we're working on nursery rhymes! I'm amazed that with the cd's assistance most of them are coming back to me. So as I sing along, I realize...I'll be singing these for a VERY, VERY long time! LOL love to all, Autumn 12/3/2004 - Too funny...the boys pulled one on me this morning! First, let me congratulate Gabriel for sleeping through the night. Kudos to Brett for only waking up once! UNTIL...5 a.m. when they both decide to wake up and pratice some standing in the crib exercises. So...to make a long story short...after I had 2 cups of coffee (thinking I'd need it today with such an early start) I check on the little rascals and YEP you guessed right if you laughingly said, "they went back to sleep!" Oh well, at least I can work on the website and a few other things on my ever-growing list of things "to do". ;-) love to all, Autumn 11/30/2004 - The boys are 8 months old today! It's hard to believe actually. Looks like we lowered their cribs JUST in time. When I went in their nursery this morning both boys were standing up in them. Crawling is going very well. Gabe is "fast and furious", really got to keep an eye on him. Brett is a little more calculating in where he goes. The sitting up unassisted, well suffice to say, once they mastered it they act like no big deal and do it all the time. Standing and climbing seem to be the next greatest things. If there is something around a little higher than they are...they are magnets drawn to it and attempt to stand with its support. This makes for some very interesting positions. Yesterday they both were playing at their learning table and just like dominoes Brett lost his balance and toppled over into Gabe and they both fell down. I told my mom last night that they resembled cockroaches on their backs! Arms and legs everywhere! Too funny. They love to talk! They're stringing sounds together and it makes for interesting conversations. They babble and laugh at each other alot. Gabe still doesn't possess an "inside" voice. He talks really loud most of the time. Especially to inanimate objects. All in all everything is wonderful, the boys are darlings and continue to bless Rob and I everyday with an abundance of love and gratefulness. We are truly blessed. love to all, Autumn 11/26/2004 - This morning Rob called to me from the nursery and Gabriel had pulled himself up to stand in the crib. All day both boys have been trying to pull up to cruise on whatever they can find! It's so sweet to see them mobile. 11/26/2004 - Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Exciting News today, not to be outdone Brett sat up by himself this morning and continued doing it like it was too easy. And then early afternoon Gabriel started to crawl! 11/24/2004 - Well, it's official. Gabriel won the who sits up first unassisted. He was working on his crawl today and dropped his bottom pushed up sideways and VOILA, he's sitting. He did it like three times in a row, I'm sure to erase any doubt that he won that one. They both can pull themselves up to standing from sitting so as you can tell with Gabe's newest accomplishment we are officially...on the move! Also, it is sooo cute to be feeding the boys and turn to give either a bite but I have to wait, why? They can hold and drink from their sippy cups! They just quench the thirst when they need to these days! Love to all, Autumn 11/24/2004 - Brett is working on yet another tooth...he's at #7, can you believe? Not yet 8 months and he has so many teeth. Both are still working hard at crawling but not there yet, sitting up is getting closer too. But they really love to try to stand up. No matter what they are playing with their mood changes completely when I reach out an arm and they get to pull up to stand. It's so cute. Sleeping is getting a bit better all of the time now. I've got to be a bit more careful with them though. I had to go to the ER last night for sciatica that has gotten much worse since its onset this past weekend while Rob was away. Guess I shouldn't be thinking I'm he-woman with 50+ pounds of babies at a time! All is well here, Rob's doing very well at the Academy and we all are looking forward to our trip to KY for the holidays. The boys are babbling up a storm! First was dada and then baba and finally now some mama. It's funny because neither Rob nor I allow ourselves to get to worked up over it because we know they haven't associated those words with us yet...give me some time though! Well, back to the couch for me. Love to all, Autumn 11/14/2004 - The boys are growing so fast and learning something new all of the time. It's hard to keep up with who does what and when. Let's share where we are in development: Brett and Gabe need help to sit up but once there they can stay and play for a long time. Both boys are nearing the crawling stage. They've moved beyond creeping and actually get up on all fours and do the "rocking" maneuver. They both absolutely LOVE to stand, they need help but once standing they love to let go of one hand to try out their legs. Feeding is an adventure. They both want to grab and dip and are trying to learn some self-feeding. Sleeping is pretty good, most nights one will sleep straight through at least 7-8 hours and the other will get up every 4 hours. And yes they alternate so I never know who it'll be for sure until I go in their nursery. They have so much fun just interacting with each other. Their favorite game, besides peek-a-boo with mom, is a "Lombardi original". It's called "You got it...I want it". It doesn't matter what the toy is if one has it the other wants it. This can sometimes last for nearly 20 minutes of passing, or rather grabbing, the toy and vice-versa. Both boys are very vocal, they babble all of the time. Smiles and giggles are very commonplace, and music to my ears and delightful visions. They clap their hands, transfer items from hand to hand with ease. They know their names now and love to go for long walks in their stroller. 11/9/2004 - WHOA!!! Brett has welcomed teeth 4-5-6!!! His 4th on the top a nother on the top and yet another on the bottom! He has been such a trooper through a TREMENDOUS cutting period! Gabe is still about to welcome his upper first set...they're about to break through. 11/5/2004 - Voting Poll Update - Here's where we are in the poll. Both boys are seriously trying to sit up by themselves. They get VERY frustrated when they get crunch right up. On a few occasions each has "rolled" over from a pillow to sit. I'm a tough judge! It doesn't count unless they sit up on their own. Crawling is soon to come as well, both boys get up on all fours and still rock. Gabe has learned to make a movement with the arms forward but his chunky legs just don't keep up. 11/5/2004 - Tooth News...Brett's 4th tooth is about to break the skin up top. Gabe is working on #3. I tell you these boys are gonna have a mouthful by Christmas! 10/27/2004 - We're proud to welcome..Brett's 3rd tooth! It is one of his top ones and it's popped right through! At the rate these boys are going they'll be eating ribeye's for their first birthday!!! 10/25/2004 - The boys and I went for a nice long walk today, as soon as we got back to the house they had lunch and took serious naps! 2 hours+ for each. The feeding is still going GREAT! Gabe loves everything and Brett likes to talk during mealtimes! So he babbles, "bababa" "dadada" etc escpecially when he has food in his mouth! Gabe babbles the most when he's sleepy and whenever he talks to his toys. Brett has started to scoot around. Really! Whenever we sit him up his posture is so awesome that he can scoot his legs and slide his butt and he really moves! Rob got to see it last night and he was quite impressed. It's really cute. Tomorrow the boys are going to get their immunizations...yes, these are the ones "for" 6 months and their nearly 7 months!! I'm looking for another pediatrician ASAP. Saturday the boys went with their Dad to a birthday party for our friends' son, CJ he turned 5. They had a great time and even got to play games! Yesterday we went over to our friends house to watch the Pats beat the Jets, the boys are getting real used to sports these days! Then we came home and they watched most of game 2 of the World Series with us. Their dad was happy it was a Boston/New England" day! Well, Brett is waking up from the nap and that means we gotta PLAY!!!! love to all, Autumn 10/22/2004 - Last night our friends Sharon and her daughter Courtney came over and watched the boys so that I could go with Rob to one of his classes that was on relationships and family. The class was very interesting and it was nice to spend some time just Rob and I. When we got home the boys were already in bed and Sharon and Courtney seemed to have survived the experience of twins remarkably well! We knew they would. Gabe slept for 5 hours, took a bottle and then slept for another 5. Brett, you ask? That angel slept for nearly 12 straight hours!!! I thought, is he sick? But no he's bouncing around this morning and happy as can be. Could we truly be nearing the stage of sleeping through the night? It was funny though because when Gabe did wake up he wasn't crying or anything...he was babbling! Far more than he has during the day. All I kept hearing was "bababababa" and other clucking noises. He also is closer to crawling in his sleep than his wakeful times. Isn't that a hoot? Oh well, I know life with these darling is going to be very interesting. love to all, Autumn 10/20/2004 - Gabe's second tooth made an appearance today. The game's all tied at two and two! 10/19/2004 - I've added some more pics of the boys, they really are growing fast! They both sit up for long periods and roll all over! Still working on the crawling business. Meals are thoroughly enjoyed by them both these days. I think they've gotten sick of cereal, they love fruits, veggies and I've introduced some meats now too. Last night they slept really good. Gabe for 8 1/2 hours and Brett...get this...11 hours! This morning they're up watching their Baby Einstein video. They really seem to enjoy them now. Love to all, Autumn 10/7/2004 - The boys had their 6 month well-baby checkup today. The immunization clinic didn't have all of the vaccines on hand and so rather than give them two shots today and one next week, we opted to get them all at the same time next week. I really get upset about that, last time they got 2 one day and had to go back 3 weeks later for the other one. Not cool! Anyway off of my soapbox and on to the boys stats...Brett is 26 and 1/4 inches tall and weighs in at 19 lbs and 6 oz and Gabe is 26 inches tall and weighs in at 20 lbs and 8 oz. These guys are doing terrific and right on track or ahead of most things for their age. And yes...last night the boys slept for 8 1/2 hours again! I'm so grateful for that and fo so very much more! Love to all, Autumn 10/6/2004 - Oh what joy!! The boys...both of them...slept for 8 1/2 hours last night! I feel like a new woman. Could this be a new pattern? Only time will tell but I'm grateful for some sleep last night. The teeth are coming in nicely, the boys are eating solids three times a day now. I think that coupled with more exercise throughout the day may be a contributing factor to restful nights. They talk all the time, they LOVE to sit opposite each other and bable to each other. They also seem to have a desire to play with whatever toy the other has. It has begun, the "I want what he has" stage. My life is full and I'm blessed! Love to all, Autumn
