Stories 10/1/2004 - SAME DAY UPDATE #2!! We have another new addition...Gabe's 1st tooth! The first has come through and I felt it during bathtime...the second one on closer onvestigation is right about to come through. How wonderful they got teeth on the same day! This really explains some behaviors around here! The boys are back in the jumpers after their bath this evening for their pre-bedtime workout. It really helps to have one jumping where I can see him while I bathe the other. It only took what 6 months to figure that out? Life's a hoot around here. Love to all, Autumn 10/1/2004 - UPDATES! We have a new addition...Brett's 2nd tooth!! He also had a few other milestones today, he rolled over front to back and did his "scoot" or I like to call it "commando" crawl on his back?!? Gabriel is rolling both ways alot more and he's scooting, with but high, all over the place! They still love the Johnny jumpers. Yes plural. I bought a second one so now they can jump across the hall from each other and they just laugh and talk...it's great, but now their hunger alrams are sounding so it's off for a gourmet meal of spring veggies and cereal with a banana berry medley! Bon Apetit!! 9/30/2004 - Happy "6 month" birthday BOYS!! Here's some developmental updates...today for the first time we had sippy cup success (well they sipped and had 2 of the 4 ounces of formula). It's not perfected, they don't like how fast it comes, so we're taking our time with it. I'm letting them reach for and hold it on their own. Gabe rolls over front to back and back to front now. Both boys can sit up really well for a pretty good period of time. Brett sits for longer, with beautiful posture! Toes?!?! Oh yes, they love to play with their feet, toes in the mouth and even feet to the ears like a phone! Too funny. But Brett has the newest foot trick. He grabs both feet and straightens and bends his legs, like a gymnastics warm-up! Sometimes he'll just leave them outstreched for a few minutes. It's awesome, but Dad says it looks painful! They both are really chatty! Gabe yelled at his Dad recently for picking him up and putting him down too soon. They seem to be having some of the normal separation anxiety issues that children their age go through. And a new fave around the house is the JOHNNY JUMPER...Brett adores it and I swear he'd do it 24/7 if I let him. Gabe is a big fan too and every jump seems to make him giggle and smile. Gabe is really ticklish these days and just about everything makes him laugh. They both are progressing so well and I'm so proud of them. I'm the luckiest mom in the world to have these darlings fill my days and share my life! love to all, Autumn Awww isn't that sweet...Rob sent me roses at the house today for the boys 6 month birthday. He's so wonderful! Is there any wonder I love him like I do?!?! 9/26/2004 - FIRST AIRPLANE RIDE!!! So much has happened since the last update. The family took a trip to Mass. to see Rob's family. What a wonderful trip! I was worried about the boys and flying for the first time but they were FANTASTIC!! They laughed, played and slept. They got to finally meet so many of their family on Rob's side. I just can't seem to say how wonderful that trip was enough times. The boys got to go the Big E...it's a 5 state fair and the boys made their first television appearance there. A local weather station was doing a live feed and asked us to stop and do a quick interview with the "Texas Twins". It was too funny. Then they went to an antique car show, the Yankee candle factory (where I could have stayed for DAYS!) and the best part of it all was the family time. These boys got so much love and attention. There were such precious moments watching each of the relatives pick up and love on the boys. Love to all, Autumn 9/12/2004 - Some really cool news. On a "wouldn't that be neat" whim I entered a photo of me and the boys in a "Mommy and me" contest...and we placed!! We came in third so we got free entries into another contest. I just thought that was the neatest thing! Plus, it helped that my mom took the photo...which is my favorite of me and the boys thus far. Here's the site if you'd like to check it out http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cherished_moments 9/9/2004 - Updates for everyone. We've had recent visits from Auntie Drea, the boys Grandpa and Meme Lombardi, and their Grandma just left yesterday. These guys sure are loved!! Next week we'll be taking the boys on their first airplane trip to Massachussets to see that side of their family. Gonna be an adventure for us all. The boys had a bad bout with colds and it turned into a sinus infection for Gabe and a double ear infection for Brett but they are doing A WHOLE better now. As for firsts, Gabe has successfully been rolling all over the place since early last month. And Brett has a new addition...his FIRST TOOTH!!! They both have been teething pretty heavy and I expect the others to come soon for both boys. These guys love their exersaucers and they bounce and love to stand on mom and dad's laps all of the time. They are really taking to solids, but Gabe has refined his feeding ability. Mouth WIDE open for every bite and if you don't get it to him fast enough he'll just grab the spoon and let you know! They are both holding their bottles pretty good these days, I think I may try the holders with better grips for them. They love to talk and laugh and do it all the time when the teething isn't bothering them. At their last doctor's appointment for the earlier bouts with infection they were weighing 17'8 for Brett and 18'10 for Gabe. These guys are just WONDERFUL!!! Sleep schedules??? We'll let's just give that some more time!! Love to all, Autumn 8/11/2004 - The boys are beginning baby foods and so far Gabriel is a BIG fan of sweet potatoes! We haven't found a favorite for Brett yet but he's only had green beans and sweet potatoes to choose from up until this point. They are sleeping a bit sporadic. Some nights 6 hours and then back to 4. Flexibility is the name of the game around here. Thursday night I'm going to my first meeting with the area's Mothers of Multiples, I know it'll be good to talk with other women in my situation. And you know it'll be great to get insider secrets to making life easier for us all! 8/5/2004 - The boys had their 4-month well baby today...also got immunizations. They were real troopers! And here is the Lombardi boys new stats: Brett - 25 1/2 inches long and weighing in at 16 pounds & 8 ounces Gabe - 25 1/4 inches long and weighing in at 17 pounds and 10 ounces. These guys are doing GREAT! 7/30/2004 - Happy 4 months Boys! These guys are so much fun! Last night they both went 8 hours straight sleeping. Not so for their dad, Rob's been under the weather a bit and up coughing most of the night. They are both trying to rollover. Gabe can get 3/4 but seems to get stuck on his arm. Brett needs a little help in the hips and then he's good to go on his own. Crawling is still mainly face dragging along. They both love to do the "airplane" over heads and are laughing more and very ticklish! Brett can turn the tickle laugh on and off at will, poor Gabe is just all out ticklish! Next week they go for their 4 month immunizations...and we'll be able to update on length and weight stats. So start plaing wagers...who knows how big these boys are for sure. All I can say is they totally SKIPPED the 3-6 month clothing aisle and are in 6-9 months... Love to all, Autumn 7/9/2004 - The boys are growing so fast! Wednesday they went to meet with their new "Texas" pediatrician. Dr Sacha seems to be great...the boys are VERY healthy!!! Gabe has passed Brett for the moment in length and weight. At 14 weeks Brett weighs...15 pounds and 2 ounces!! Gabe came in at 16 pounds and 2 ounces!!! Can you believe it?!?! They are just a week over 3 months!!! Gabe is 24 1/2 inches long and Brett is 23 1/2 inches in length. I am so very proud of these darlings. They are suffering through the early stages of teething, I mean the WHOLE family is suffering with them. I just try to reassure and calm them as best I can, bless their little hearts they don't know what is going on and they can't tell us about it either!! These past few weeks have been full of firsts and milestones: They both are laughing, smiling, cooing and occasionally growling. They still LOVE bathtime! Sleep schedules are improving slowly but surely. I'm just amazed at how quickly i fell in love with these angels and can continue to fall all over again every morning when I see their smiling, laughing and often hungry faces! The "team" of rob and Autumn continue to make progress as parents and the boys are the apples of our eyes! More news to follow soon.... Love to all, Autumn 6/20/2004 - Sorry it took so long to get these photos out... In our defense, we have been busy!!! The boys are doing great, Mom is transitioning well & loves the house! Though, it'll be funny to see how long it takes before she kicks my butt! I have that effect on women ;-) Today is Father's Day, and last night I had the boys to myself, it was a challenge.. I'm so proud of Autumn, they were a handful, and GOD only knows how she handled it all this time.. She did have some wonderful support, thank you to everyone for helping me get my family here, and helping her keep her sanity those weeks we were apart. Especially to Gramma Jesse, you are truly a wonderful Mom & Grand-mom!!! The house is full, but Autumn has been working hard making it a home for us... I am so blessed to have everyone here TOGETHER... the Lord knows the LOOOOONG road we took. This is the BEST Father's Day gift a Dad could ask for.... Love to All, and we'll keep the photos coming... "The Texas Lombardi Family" 5/22/2004 - The house is sure empty without the three of them... but I know it won't be long until the BOYS bring MOM with them to San Antonio. Their room is waiting, and it looks really nice... Painted and fishes all over the place. It's an "Under the Sea" theme! I just need the last two fishes to fill it!! I keep watching the pictures of Gabe & Brett, and think WOW, does Autumn even have time to stop feeding them... I am surprised there isn't pictures of them eating on these pages ;-) but I am so thankful for this website... it's made the last few weeks tolerable!! A couple more weeks, and then I can catch up to the excitement.... Missing them ALL badly!! Love to All! Rob "Proud Daddy" 5/18/2004 - The boys are 7 weeks today and I still look at them in total amazement and awe. They are changing everyday, growing and becoming more involved with their surroundings. They are such good babies...Rob and I are truly blessed! At their one month check up the boys weighed in at 7'11" for Gabe and 8'2" for Brett. Yesterday I got on the scales without and then with and did the math to see that they are both around 10 or 11 pounds!!! These boys LOVE to eat, in fact now they do way more of that than sleep!!! Still not through the night but they go for good 3 hour stretches. I'm adjusting. My separation paperwork got approved so I'll be outprocessing over the next few weeks so that the boys and I can get our healthy fat butts out to Texas with their Dad, whom I know has missed them terribly!!! Now that I've gotten a routine down somewhat I'll update photos more frequently...like I said they are changing soooo dramatically everyday. 4/14/2004 - "Dad's story" Can you believe it's been over two weeks since Brett & Gabriel joined our family? I think my biggest memory of that day was when I was in the nursery watching them get cleaned up, poked, and checked for everything possible. I remember, I had told Brett who was laying on his table undergoing the nurses constant probing, and only minutes old. I told him I would be back in a minute, I was going to check on his mother.. I leaned down to give him a kiss on his head, and he opened his eyes for the very first time!! The reality of becoming a father was seeing Brett looking right back up at me! I went to share this with Autumn who I am so proud of! I had to keep her in the loop on her brave new boys, and to see the excitement on her face when I spoke of them is priceless. When I returned I walked right over to Gabriel. I leaned down to speak to him, and as if he knew who he was hearing.. he opened his eyes for the first time!! I will always know in my heart that my boys first vision in this world was their father! (Even though I was probably distorted beyond recognition - that is beside the point) Never in my life had I felt more proud, and so blessed to have these "Two Perfect Angels" staring up at me. That is my most precious memory of Tuesday 30 March 2004.
