Stories 6 Nov - Looks like I'm not the only one who likes to watch Ashlee waking in the mornings. Today as soon as Gabriel heard her talking to herself he was in there with books and dolls. Telling her stories and using the dolls for animation. It was so sweet. They've taken a new liking to watching some "mom-approved" Winnie the Pooh. I love that they like these movies...so much 'calmer'! Today we have plans to go for a nice long walk and collect fall leaves and what nots to make some decorations. Should prove interesting. Ashlee is really eating some rice cereal these days. I'm giving her a few more days of just the breastmilk/cereal paste (I think it looks like plaster...) and then we're off to veggies! I can already tell she's gonna be a good eater! Just like her mommy - was and IS!! LOL 30 Oct - Ashlee had her 4-month well baby and her latest stats are: Weight 15 pounds and 7 1/2 ounces! Her head measures 44 cm. She's a whopping 26" long and healthy as can be. Sleeping through the night like an ANGEL..thank you Jesus! She typically goes down for 8-9 hours, has a nursing, then sleeps 3-4 more hours. She naps sporadically though the day for 45min-1 hour stretches. Poor thing had to get her booster shot but she did famously and only cried at the initial injection. Mom hates that look on a babies face, "Why did that happen?" look is soooo pitiful. Baby girl gets to start some rice cereal today and I'm excited for her and sad too....man she's growing so much faster than I remember with the boys. Gotta slow it down! This weekend was awesome, gorgeous weather and loads of fun! Carving pumpkins, playing outdoors...we even had some leftover fireworks and sparklers!! The boys LOVED that. Mom took the boys to the Fall Fest at the Y and we had a blast...they did great at the activities...so many things...coloring contests, golf, soccer, basketball, gabe even did a potato sack race. Mom was nervous but he didn't fall, not even once! Brett was awesome at the bean bag throw...he hit the marks alot!! ....be right back..... Managed to get in a refreshing shower! Whohoooo. Back to the Fall Fest update, both boys' LOVED the hayride and went around twice! We even tried the cakewalk, Gabe did well following the directions and Brett well he'd rather Mom buy or make a cake than have to WORK for it!! LOL Another cute story, Gabriel tried the "Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin". An eye masked was placed over his eyes...he was spun around three times...then prompted to "Put the Nose on the Pumpkin"..to which he adorably placed it on HIS NOSE!! Everyone watching just looked on with the biggest grins...sooooo cute...you can't make this stuff up! Mom's been watching some Feng Shui shows and she's rearranging the house again! Starting with the layout in the boys' room. They love the "new" feel and hopefully the rearrangement will help the energy flow in there!! Right, they are 3 1/2 year old boys...energy is FLOWING EVERYWHERE!! So enough updating for now we've got to finish up our Halloween costumes! Look for pics soon.
26 Oct - Gosh I haven't blogged in ages!! Let's start at the most recent and work back, if I can remember past yesterday!! So "guest in my own home" isn't a bad thing, in fact, IT ROCKS! I've finally figured out how to get a good long shower...dressed (to INCLUDE a touch of make-up) and changed out of pj's before 9 a.m. The secret to my success is the guest bath, a.k.a. the boys' Thomas the Train-themed bathroom. Baby Ashlee likes to sleep in but the twins' follow me everywhere, sooooo on the other side of the house we go. They play and are happy knowing where I am. I'm getting a shower and my head on straight...it's a total win-win! Rob said, "but honey you can use your own bath/shower." To which I replied not if I want Ashlee to sleep in for a bit. The sun is shining, I'm refreshed and life is GOOD! Catching up on life in the Lombardi household. Let's see Rob got orders and will be deploying soon for a four-month stint. Sadly, he'll be missing the boys' 4th birthday...we're gonna make that up with a trip to DisneyWorld upon his return! Shhhh it's a secret. We're going to New England for the holidays. And we're driving! Wish us luck on our fist long-ass family road trip. Should be "wicked" fun! Ashlee has discovered her feet and toes and just squeals at them all of the time! She is such a happy baby. The boys' adore her and she lights up whenever they give her attention. We recently got a Wii for some family fun and man is it FUNNY. Brett likes to box and Gabriel likes to play baseball. But right now they both love the game where they ride a cow?! It's a riot. Ashlee just watches it all, poor kiddo she's landing in a fast-paced family for sure. So it's the season for getting inundated with toy catalogues in the mail. The boys' love to check the mail and get the catalogues and go through picking out their "I want...I need...I have to have". To this I tell them we need to pick things out to let Santa know what you want for Christmas. Brett starts yelling out "Hey Santa, Santa I want something!" Like he expects Santa to come out of hiding, too funny. Gabriel has become the primary caregiver for Sophie. He has put himself in charge of letting Sophie (our dog) in and out of the house. He gets her food and helps refill her water. He plays with her throughout the day so she gets her exercise. He just loves all dogs. At the park he has learned to put out his hand and let the dogs appraoch him first and then it's playtime. Brett knows all about 'cause & effect'...his favorite phrase is "I'll be good and get a new toy!" So much more going on but I'll try to get better at updating more regularly. "Try" being the focus word.
Toodles,
1 Aug - The boys' sure are growing fast too! At a recent appoitnment Gabriel was measuring 41" tall and 39 pounds...Brett was measuring 40" tall and 38 pounds. This is at 3 years and 4 months old! 30 July - Mom had her 6 week postpartum follow-up and everything is great. The doc says she looks 20 years younger and is impressed that she's down to her pre=pregnancy weight already! She laughs and said nursing a baby and chasing 3-year-old twins is a workout in itself!! 25 July - HAPPY "ONE MONTH" to Ashlee!! She's feeling much better and just being a fabulous lil' girl. The brothers stil LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her. Gabe wants to hold and kiss her everytime he even sees her! Brett thinks she's hard of hearing and speaks to her accordingly...too cute! Daddy's Update: (11 July) Yes, another Blog, but heck, it was a fun day... I took Brett to the movies, and we saw none other than the anticipated "Transformers". We've both been jones-ing to go since we first saw the previews months ago... I know, Brett is three, but the Dude absolutely is fascinated with robots! So we went...
Now you're probably asking "Why not Gabe?" Well, he's not the sit down watch a full movie kind of kid, so for a 2 1/2 hour flick like this, I don't think it would've kept his interest... Now looking back, I probably was wrong.
Brett was enthrawled, and I was tickled watching his reactions to the action, plot, and suspense. It was amazing sharing this experience with him, because I remember being a young boy loving the Transformers, and to see it come to life on the Big Screen the way this one unfolded, I was extremely impressed. But to do it with Brett next to me, now that was just AWESOME! Don't worry about Gabe, he was with baby sister and Mom, they had some fun of their own... Who knows, maybe we'll go see Transformers again, the minute it was over Brett kept repeating "let's see Transformers again tomorrow"... and to tell you the truth, it was that good! That's all for now, thanks for listening.. Later DAZE! Rob
Daddy's Update: (10 July) Well, I'm in my third and final week of Leave, so I decided today would be nice to take the boys to Big Kahuna's. It's a large waterpark in Destin, about 45 minutes away... Get things organized and ready to go first thing in the morning, you know me, chronic and meticulous. So I get us out of here at the crack of... ten!
We arrive near eleven, and of course start the adventure of waiting in lines, we spend at least 45 minutes doing just that. I had a couple options, I could purchase a regular priced ticket and get a 2nd day free, or I could get a reduced MILITARY rate but would lose out on the 2nd day... I went military, something told me it would be the right decision... We get in this place, and I've got to tell you, it's a cluster f&*king maze! Steps go up down then up down, and oh yes, up down one more freakin' time, before we ever found the flippin' lockers. I felt like a rat searching for cheese! Once we found them, we had to search to find ours because well counting numerically means absolute sh*t to these people, so basically I found my locker 119 nestled between 46 and 8... go figure! It's past noon when we finally find our way into the pool, THANK GOD, because the boys were sweating from the cardio workout I put them through to get there... I mean, if I could hear their thoughts, they must've been saying "Where in the world is this crazy bastard taking us"?
The park had a lot of slides, but it was heavily congested and the design of the place absolutely sucks... it was like they started it with a few slides, and as business grew, so did they... "Hey there's a shred of space, drop a waterfall there, or there's fifteen feet next to the shitters, looks like a great place to put a food booth"!
Oh, yeah, the best part... now Daddy doesn't raise no chicken boys, these kids wanted to go on each and every freakin' slide possible, heck who could blame them? However, everytime we got near one that seemed to be a little large, there was this freakin' sign that stated "You need to be this tall to ride", of course my boys were about 4 inches too short... Finally, the reason I didn't get the second day paid off! Between half a park full of slides the boys couldn't ride, to include a "Lazy River" for the love of God. What the hell is that going to do to them, put 'em to sleep? Well the adventure goes on and on, and when me and the boys finally settle into having a great time enjoying the slides, which we found every one we could... about twelve, all in all, we really had a blast! It's not about the $100+ spent, it's about the quality time spent with your children... That's what it is really about! Right? I love spending time with them, and they were real troopers... To be perfectly honest, they'll look back and remember the positives, even though I just rambled the negatives... Wore their little asses out though, they crashed on the two-hour car ride... oh, forgot to mention the 5 mile traffic jam on the way home! Got to run, thanks for listening... Later DAZE! Rob
