July 12 - More catching up....
June 23 - June 28 (A recount to include baby girl's arrival!) June 23 - The boys' were so excited to see Granma pull up in the driveway. And she came bearing lots of goodies for everyone! She also brought gifts galore for Ashlee from loved ones sending their thoughts , prayers and special things for baby girl. Thank you all so much for the thoughtfulness and generosity! We'll be getting out announcements, thank-you cards and a couple of special goodies for you all. For the boys' she brought TREASURES. Literally, she had treasure chests filled with Pirate's Booty! Costumes and accessories and the boys' went nuts!! They loved it all and made sure Granma had sword fights the rest of the evening!! June 24 - Mom and Granma did a test run to the hospital and then did some shopping before heading home. At home they got busy making a belly cast for baby Ashlee. Dad had to help out because the plaster kept drying too fast but the whole team managed to get the "last minute" project done!! Whohoo and it helped Mom with passing the time. Getting really anxious around here. Got to try to get some rest....Mom and Dad are leaving for the hospital at 4:30 a.m. June 25 - Checked in at the hospital and by 7 a.m. Mom was prepped and ready to deliver baby girl Ashlee. Little Miss was born at 7:18 a.m. and weigheda whopping 9 pounds and 1 ounce. She was 21 inches long and the doctor said she had some "really broad shoulders!" She'll need to be strong to keep up with twin big brothers!! She looked great and Mom did very well in surgery. Mom was even up and walking within a few hours of the surgery and Ashlee took to nursing like a pro! Granma brought the boys' to meet Ashlee and as you can see from the pictures they
all fell madly for this little darling from the start. June 28 - Homecoming!! Ashlee arrived and everyone was overjoyed. She is still such a good baby, only crying when she gets hungry. She likes to stay up a bit more at night but she was like that when she was with Mommy for nine months!
Daddy's Update: (5 July)
Ok, well it's been ten days since our Little Girl has joined our Family, and I have to say, I can't express in words the love I feel for her. My first moment with her was one of sheer joy! I watched her enter this world, and from that very moment I knew my life had changed for the better. I have been blessed to have two wonderful sons that I learn from and share with each and everyday, but to have a little girl now further enhances the joy I feel in my heart! I've learned my happy place is holding her with her soft head rested against my chest and feel her cuddle into my arms. I'll spend hours like that! Last night, I was acting frantic and tired, trying to finish one of many chores I've been doing, and Autumn walks into the room, hands me my little Angel, and says "Go sit down with her". It was all it took to completely settle me down and for a lack of better words "chill me out"!
This has also made me realize that I am the man she will compare all future men to. How's that for pressure! Our family has recently been blessed with a wonderful addition, and as I opened this story, I can't put into words truly how much love I feel for her... all I can tell you is I've never been more happy! WEEK 39 -- As the baby begins to settle into your pelvis, it will relieve the pressure from your diaphragm, letting your breathing become easier. Unfortunately it is now pressing on your bladder making you run to the bathroom every few minutes. Is it Labor? The rupture of your amniotic sac could happen any day now. Some women experience a large gush of water, whereas other women feel a steady trickle when their water breaks. If you think your water has broken or you are experiencing regular contractions, contact your health care provider. Ready to Go Your baby is now probably over the seven pound mark and can hardly move inside the uterus. The lungs are also nearly fully developed and functional. The umbilical cord that carried nutrients from the placenta to your baby is now 20 inches long (50 centimeters) and is a half-inch (1.3 centimeters) thick. Because your baby weighs about 7 pounds (3288 grams) and consumes all of the space in your uterus, it's common for the umbilical cord to become knotted or wrapped around him. Most of the vernix that covered your baby's skin has disappeared, as well as the lanugo. Your body begins to supply the baby with antibodies through the placenta that will help the baby's immune system fight infection for the first 6 months of life. WEEK 38 -- The baby's body fat is still accumulating, but her growth is now slower. You may even notice that your weight gain has stopped. Some women even lose a bit of weight at his time during their pregnancy. Now that baby is 'engaged' in your pelvis, your bladder is very compressed; this means frequent bathroom trips for the next week or so. Baby now has the muscles that enable him to suck and to swallow amniotic fluid. As a result, waste material is gathering in the intestines. Cells that are shed from the intestines, as well as dead skin cells and lanugo hair are some of the waste products that make up meconium. Meconium is a greenish-black substance and is your baby's first bowel movement. WEEK 37 -- This week, baby will weighs almost 6 1/2 pounds (2859gm) but has not stopped growing just yet! In fact, she will continue to develop body fat and will gain about one half an ounce each day of your pregnancy. If you are expecting a boy, remember that, generally, boys tend to weigh more than girls at birth. You baby is now busy practicing her breathing. She can now respond to light and will turn towards it. She also has a fairly strong grip. The position of your baby right now is, in most cases, the position that he will be in when you give birth. Try to make sure that everything is in order at home in case you need to rush off to the hospital. And check that you have everything you need for the hospital; once labor begins, you won't want your partner rushing home to forget an item that you really want. Plus, when things are organized, it helps you stay calm and focused. Daddy's Update 9 June - "and the cops came..."
Hi there! Well today was eventful... I spent the morning cleaning house, and though Brett didn't help at all, I think watching me made him tired, cuz he ended up falling asleep on my lap around 1:00. So I sat still holding him for awhile, it was good for us both, especially AFTER YESTERDAY! Of course Gabe wanted to help Mommy paint, and they were in the dining room doing just that! I think to most this would be boring, however, not in our house!!! See Grandma Jesse called and talked with Autumn for awhile, then Gabe wanted to talk to my mother Grandma June. So he decided to give her a call... He picked up the phone and dialed a short three digit number to call her, however he never got thru... can you guess where he did get thru too...? YEP... 9-1-1.
Well when Autumn realized he had actually dialed some numbers, she just hung-up not realizing she hung-up on the Police Dept, so they of course rang-back! When Autumn explained to them our three year old dialed the number, they still had to send a deputy to the house... About fifteen minutes later the Deputy rolled in to check out the call. Gabe seemed to be pretty tough until the cop's loud voice came in asking him "authoritative" questions, and freaked the little dude out! I'm pretty sure there is a lesson here, but all I can think is how Gabe probably won't like the cops much more than his old man... It's always exciting here... thanks for listening!
Later DAZE! Rob Daddy's Update - 8 June - "Today Sucked" Normally when you see a heading like that, you'd think, bad day at the job... Well not the case here! I mean, thre are some trials on the job, but nothing I'd ever mention here, not worth the time... as a matter of fact, I already spent too much time talking about "the job".
After I left work, I raced home to pick-up Brett, to race almost all the way back to take him to his Dental exam. See he banged his tooth and nearly knocked it out a few weeks back, and this was the trip to get X-rays done... No surgical procedure this time, Right??? NOPE... WRONG! The Doc offered to remove it on-the-spot, and of course we needed to have it happen. That is when my personal HELL began... To clarify, not from how Brett was, NO, NO, NO! He was wonderful and brave. Not Daddy! He was a train-wreck... I mean, once you have a child, it seems like the pain and misery you've endured in life is meaningless compared to when you see your child strapped into a chair, being prepped for surgery, and his little eyes are staring at you as if to say "Daddy, don't let them hurt me"!
Watching him wriggle in agony as they strapped his little arms and legs down to keep him from kicking, and as he lays whaling "DADDY NO! DADDY NO!!", and all you can tell yourself is be strong little man, nothing or no one will hurt you... it astonishes me the pain I felt and the anguish I held for him was so amplified! I just wanted to pull him away and stand in the corner of the room holding him in one arm and a scalple in the other saying "GET AWAY FROM MY LITTLE BOY YOU BASTARDS"!!!
However, they were really nice people, very gentle and caring to him, but none of that mattered at the time... Speaking of time, this whole ordeal only took less than thirty minutes, but that my friends was the longest thirty minutes of my life... Brett bounced back just fine, he's actually playing, laughing, and behaving like nothing happened... Hopefully he forgets this experience, I always heard kids can be so rescilient. I'm sure not! Thanks for listening... Take Care... Later DAZE! Rob Daddy's Update 2 June -
WEEK 36 - The countdown continues... and in fetal developments: most of the bones (soft skull aside) in their little body are now completely hardened, providing a solid structure from which they can now make their grand debut. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are structurally ready for a secure launch. In physical fitness news: their muscle tone has also improved over these past few weeks, and you'll definitely be impressed by their steel-like Ulnar grasp (a newborn reflex that occurs if you lay your finger in their palm). And in genital development: if you're having a girl, her labia are now fully developed. Finally, in the fluids/excretion department: the amniotic fluid-to-baby ratio has fallen over these past weeks, although they're still swallowing fluid (building up even more meconium for that historic first poop), and some vernix caseosa. They will be more than ready to swallow and digest milk after birth. Just in case you didn't get it quite yet: you've got yourself an adorable and hungry 6.5 lbs 20 inch baby-are you ready?
16 May - We are so happy for Troy and Tonya! Big sister Hannah has proudly claimed little Lindsey as HER baby sister. Everyone is recovering nicely and expected to be going home from the hospital soon.
By pregnancy week 33 your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and may be a little over 19 inches long! Your baby is busy concentrating on weight gain during pregnancy week 33 and during the remainder of your pregnancy week by week. Your amniotic fluid may be at the highest level it will reach during your pregnancy at 33 weeks. Your baby's brain has been busy growing rapidly during pregnancy at 33 weeks, increasing the size of your baby's head by as much as 3/8 of an inch. Your baby's skin will start changing from red to pink as fat begins to accumulate beneath its surface. By 33 weeks pregnant your uterus is a little over 5 inches above your navel. You may have gained up to 28 pounds by 33 weeks pregnant, though some women will have gained more. During this point in pregnancy many women find that they gain weight faster than at any other time. This is partly due to the rapid growth your baby is experiencing. Most babies will put on 5-9 ounces every week from this point out!
