Stories 2 Mar - Mom got all checked into her hotel and has had some nice quiet time. But boy she sure misses the guys!! She has gotten to do some shopping and relaxing, even a nice sunset stroll on the beach (not the same without Daddy!!) Dad took the little guys out to the zoo and the boys' showed him exactly where all the coolest animals were. they even went out for pizza and did some shopping of their own. Sounds like they are having a great time getting some special Daddy time.
2 Mar - Mommy has an ob/gyn appointment today and then she's checking into a beachside hotel for the weekend. Daddy's treat for Mommy since he got to go California for a week. Mommy has a cold, so do the boys', so she'll probably just sleep a lot!! We've got Daddy all to ourselves this weekend! I'm sure he's got lots of stuff planned for us...he likes to keep us really busy. Tomorrow is Uncle Val's Birthday and Cousin Tommy's too! Happy Birthday guys...we love you!!!XXOOXXOO
27 Feb - HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA JACK!!!! We love you and miss you!! XXOOXX WEEK 22 -- Your Baby: The baby is getting bigger and continues to practice for life outside the uterus. This week your baby has fully developed eyelashes and eyebrows and the hair on your baby?s head is continuing to grow as his brain begins a rapid growth process. The fetus has fully formed fingerprints and loud noise can wake up the baby. He may begin kicking and turning around, too. Your baby?s heartbeat can be heard with a stethoscope. His nose is taking on a more defined shape as cartilage (the soft bone) appears. If you baby is a boy, the testes have begun to descend from the pelvis into the scrotum. Your baby is approximately 30-32 cm (10.8 inches) and weighs about one pound. 22 Feb - We're loading up the car and heading to Granma and Pawapaw's house! Be back soon!!!
WEEK 21 -- Your beautiful little miracle-gro baby will be putting on a full ounce and a half this week (up to 16.5 oz), but that?s just the beginning! Within the next five weeks, they?ll really be packin? it on! For now, we?re pleased to report the addition of rapid eye movement (REM) a key component to any baby?s healthy sleep schedule. And in the dermatology department: their thin soft skin is very red, failry translucent, and a bit wrinkled. Not to worry, it?s not a premature aging disease. It's just their clever little body setting them up with extra space that will smooth out once your little one starts packing on the baby-fat. That won?t be for a few more weeks, though. So for the time being, your munchkin is still a little lean mean growing machine! The beginnings of what is commonly called ?brown fat? is just starting to fill in to help your baby retain some body heat, which is crucial as they?re not yet capable of regulating their own body temperature. 21 Feb - Whoohooo yesterday was another 100% day in big boy pants. The boys' did marvelous...we were out all day! We just took lots of potty breaks (this works out GREAT for the pregnant Mommy!!). We started yesterday with a trip to the library for Story Time. The children start in the kids' area of the library and then line up and go with the Story lady into the special room for only children (no Mommies). So at first with a little coaxing from Mom both boys' went in, neither wanted to sit down on the reading mat. Then Brett came out, he went back inside. Then Gabriel came out and went back inside. The final count was Gabriel inside for Story Time and Brett stayed out with Mom and read a few books while we waited for Gabriel. When he came out he was sooo proud of himself...and he loved that all of the stories were about TRUCKS!! Maybe next week we can have 100% attendance! After the library we headed back to the Zoo for some animals and another train ride. We fed the animals at the petting zoo and fed the giraffes again. The boys' love being able to touch all of the animals, and since they come bearing food the animals LOVE to come to them for some lovin'! Mom thinks it's great and the boys' are great about washing their hands and using sanitzer afterwards....thank goodness! We grabbed a quick bite to eat while waiting for the train ride and then headed off on the train, this time both boys got to sit with Mom--although Gabriel went right to the front initially, Mom told him today he had to ride in a regualr seat and not with the conductor...he was cool with that. After the zoo we headed to do some light shopping and pick up our new movie...the boys' liked "Flushed Away" okay. Not the greatest and not the worst--middle of the road flick, maybe it'll grow on them. Some outdoor play, a quick clean-up and then we were off to dinner. Mom and the boys' headed to a Chinese buffet, very interesting! Initially they couldn't sit still, but after about 5 minutes they were very well behaved and even tried some Chinese. Not a big hit but hey at least they tried something new. BEdtime is a bit earlier since they are having such activity-filled days, Mom is way cool with that! No idea what we'll do today, we'll just head out and see what we fall into Mom says. It's kind of rainy this morning but later it's supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees!! Brett and Gabriel are looking forward to seeing Granma Jesse and Pawpaw tomorrow. We'll just take our time and stop plenty of times along the way. Another Lombardi adventure!!
20 Feb - HAPPY FAT TUESDAY!! We don't know what that means but we know Mom has a whole day full of activities for us...none of which involve beads but oh well we are gonna score the new movie "Flushed Away" 'cuz it releases today. Yesterday after we went to the park at the beach we went for lunch and then we went to the zoo. We had sooooo much fun, we fed the giraffes and rode the train. Gabriel even got to sit up front with the conductor!! It was precious...unfortunately Daddy took the camera to California so you'll just have to take Mom's word for it! Today is Story Time at the library this morning and then we're going to get our new movie, grab some lunch and "if we are well-behaved" we're going back to the ZOO! C-O-O-L!!! Mom's decided that since we like it so much we're getting a family pass so we can go ALL the time! And boy was she proud of us both...we spent the WHOLE DAY in big boy underwear...no accidents!! We just have to stand on Mommy's feet to reach the potty but it works!
19 Feb - Daddy made it safely to California for his week-long Napa Valley trip. The boys' were really good when they woke up and each said "Daddy's on a trip". Normally every morning they say "Daddy's at work!" Gabriel even told me the story about how Daddy took an airplane in the sky and flew there. Both boys' are very excited about our trip later this week, Mom's taking the boys' to see Granma Jesse and Pawapaw for a few days. Today isn't supposed to be so cold here, we should see temps in the upper 50s so we'll be going to the park after while.
15 Feb - Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!! We sure did..the boys' got to pick out their own new toys and Brett's new favorite store is Target. Every aisle he went down you heard an animated "OH COOL...(fill in the blank)!! It was difficult for them to narrow down their gifts to two a piece but they did a great job and were very happy with their goodies! Mom was equally happy with her presents...she got chocolate (the baby seems to like it too...lots of movement after Mommy indulges!) Mom also got a "spa day" package for this weekend...the whole nine yards...massage, mani, pedi, lunch, flowers, hair...whohoo this will help get her relaxed for the week without Daddy (he's going to Napa Valley!! But Mommy is taking the boys' to Kentucky to see Granma Jesse and Pawapaw for a few days and when she gets back the next weekend Daddy booked her a ocean-view hotel suite for the following weekend. She'll get to sleep ALOT! Daddy got a new cool gadget...a 30Gig Media player, he can listen to music, watch movies, store pics...you name it! All those cool things and then some bad news, our house in Texas had a problem...the heating compressor blew up and it's gonna cost a pretty penny to replace it. Oh well, we got some lemons and we're busy making not only lemonade but some lemon pie too! LOL
13 Feb - Mom's really feeling the baby moving around these days. It's much different than the twins' were, this little girl is staying pretty low. Here are some phrases heard throughout the house that are music to a mother's ears: "Bless you Mommy" (whenever she sneezes), "Hmmm thanks for dinner!" "May I have some?" "Please" and "Thank you". Looks like today were gonna get a thunder storm so we are off to run some errands quick before it gets bad and stop off at the library to try our hands at story time! Well we got a downpour this morning, just as we were leaving the house. We had our own story time in the children's section, the boys' weren't quite ready to go off in the story room by themselves with children they didn't know yet. Next week we'll get there a bit earlier so they can make some friends first. The rain finally let up around noon and the sun came out. So by mid-afternoon we went for a walk, well it was more of an adventure. Let's just say the boys' are puddle pirates! They found them all and once I gave the okay they had a blast! We got back home a little (no ALOT) wetter than we left but they had fun.
Cute shopping story today: We had to run in for a few things and I divided the list up so each boy was responsible for two things. One of Gabriel's was WIPES. When I told him this item he immediately announced (quite loudly and animated) that, "We need wipes for my butt when I poo-poo, don't wanna poo-poo in my pants, gotta go to the potty!" And that's the rest of the story!! LOL
Potty training still going well. BOth boys' wore big boy pants out for lunch and shopping on Sunday. Dad took them to the restroom at every stop and there were no accidents! YIPPEEEE
WEEK TWENTY --
When you are 20 weeks pregnant, your baby measures about 5.6 to 6.4 inches and weighs about 9 ounces. It's amazing -- your baby can do so many things, but he or she is not yet 1 pound!
Your baby can hear sounds now, and it will cover its ears with its hands if a loud sound is made near you or "jump" if it is startled. Your baby will also be moving a lot -- twisting, turning, punching, and kicking. You still may not feel this movement, or it may feel just like butterflies or stomach rumblings.
8 Feb - So Mom finally got our website updated with a Valentine's Day theme. Way to go Mom...you get a STICKER! Now she gets to go and rearrange our bedroom because we think the pj's and socks look better on the floor! We know we're gonna get a lesson in organization....UGH! Okay so we got our lecture and lesson in keeping things put away. But hey we have LOTS of energy!! So Mom said it's a nice day to be outside (nearly 70 and sunny!!) So if we're gonna be "Buck Wild...then go play Buck Naked!" They are having a blast and Mom's happy cause the rest of the house is staying clean for a bit. It's also easier for us boys to potty this way. So since the boys' are lounging around in the buff don't look for any pics today! Heehee
7 Feb - Today's big news: Auntie Deb ELOPED last night!! Congratulations!!!! See you in March! The list of baby girl names has begun... Before we knew it was a girl we had two possible names already...one of these was just suggested by Auntie Rocky and Uncle Thad: Summer. So it is already a strong favorite around here. Other names include: Ashley, Lauren, Harley and Megan. We'll post these in a list format and leave for all to comment upon. It is going to be a wonderful day here...nothing but sunshine and upper 60's so we're headed out the door this morning and who knows what adventures we'll stumble into today! But Mom's taking the camera and she'll report later! CIAO AFTERNOON UPDATE: We left the house around 9:30 a.m. and didn't return until after 1 p.m. (still NO naps) but we had alot of fun enjoying the beautiful sunny day!! We checked out a travel expo..the boys' scored some really cool goodies (not many children there and everyone had to give them stuff! So Mom carried out their multiple bags full of loot and praised them for being such good boys' in such a crowded venue. Shoot, Mom was proud of herself for taking them SOLO!!! After that we headed to a new park we've seen but never stopped at before. The boys' had fun, made some friends. Escpecially Brett at one time their were two children who wanted him to play with them at the same time. They brought the problem to me and Mom suggested they all play together. Another very small boy wandered over to where Mom was sitting and Gabriel ran (like a flash!) over to loudly proclaim this was HIS mother! After this park playtime we headed to run some errands with Mom, a few stores...the boys' behaved very well so we grabbed lunch and headed to yet another EVEN COOLER looking park! This time she did bring the camera along and has posted the new pics.
Week EIGHTEEN Fetal Development: If you notice your belly making jerky movements in sync, don't panic; your baby may have the hiccups! Maternal Changes: Your uterus is just below your belly button now.
If you're having an ultrasound to verify fetal age or for other reasons, your careprovider will probably schedule it between now and 20 weeks. It's often possible to determine your baby's sex at this stage, and you'll be able to tell arms from legs and all sorts of delightful details! 5 Feb - Gabriel got to meet their new pediatrician today. Both boys' will be going for their annual check-up soon, but Gabe has some probable eczema patches on his legs were just getting worse. So off to the doctor he went. Dad stayed home with Brett so it was just Mom and Gabe. He did great on his own, just a moment when he didn't want to get weighed (37 pounds) but otherwise he did famously. Ironically enough their new pediatrician has twin girls that just turned 3 in January...how cool! Gabriel got some medicine and has to go back on Friday for a follow-up. Hopefully his "itchy-owie's" will be ALL better very soon! Mr. Brett is excelling at the potty-training challenge! This morning he took off his nightime diaper and went poopy on the potty all by himself. He rarely needs prompting and just takes care of business on his own. I am sooooo proud of him. Gabriel is getting better but I think the recent constipation bout scared him a bit. Now that we know we're having a little girl we're discussing names. As soon as we narrow the list down (to a reasonable number) we'll put a poll up so everyone can vote on their favorites. And feel free to leave a comment with any ideas!!
1 Feb - It's official....we're having a GIRL!! Whohoooo!! Everything at the Level II ultrasound went fabulously and she looks very healthy and is right on track weighing in at 9 ounces! She was comfortably chilling out in the transverse position and it appears she really likes to play with her hands and arms. They were all over the place. Rob and I are overjoyed and Brett and Gabriel seemed very excited that they are having a baby sister!
31 Jan - So tomorrow (1 Feb) is the big Level II ultrasound and we should find out whether we're adding a little girl or boy to the Lombardi family. We'll be sure to get the news out right away. Last night Mom went to an awards banquet for/with Daddy. He was nominated for some really good stuff! Anyway, Kevin, a friend of the family, co-worker and neighbor volunteered to watch the boys' for us. Brett and Gabriel must have had a great time because this morning Gabriel asked "where's the big kid?" I just laughed and laughed!! Today Mom and the boys' went out for a bit. We went to lunch and the boys behaved so WONDERFULLY!!! I was tickled pink. Then we had some light grocery shopping to do and they did FABULOUS there too! They helped with the list and reminded me of what we needed and helped reach for certain products when I asked for their help. It was great. So I'm glad I'm recording Supernanny every Monday night! Some of those ideas are seeping through!! Update to the last story....Gabriel found Brett's missing toys', Harold and Percy are all accounted for, it was super sweet to see Gabe running in to give the lost toys to gis brother. And Gabriel is back "on track". He's fully recovered from that little bout with constipation. Both boys' are still potty training and doing very nicely! Some days are better than others...but are mantra (the big people aka Mom and Dad) is PATIENCE - PATIENCE - CONSISTENCY! So the next update will be sometime tomorrow with news about the baby! Ciao everyone...
