Proud Big Sister

Just wanted to update everyone on Reese.  She will be having surgery at 7:30 am on Monday, July 7th.  She has 2 hernias.  The umbilical hernia is typically not a problem and would repair itself on its own.  However, she also has an epigastric hernia right above the bellly button and this one is continually getting larger.  Jas and I are not liking her having to have surgery, but we would rather take care of it now before she is more active and rolling over or crawling where it would be harder to keep her movements limited.

Wow, a whole month and a few days have gone by since Reese graced us with her presence.  Life has been interesting.  Everyone is doing well.  Daddy and Momma are getting sleep off and on.  Each night is different.  The last few have been with less sleep because Reese is going through a growth spurt, so she is constantly wanting to eat.  Momma has gotten used to sleeping sitting up during the wee hours of the morning.  Daddy usually changes her and then passes her off to me.  Emma is loving every minute.  She is constantly letting us know when she is awake or crying or needs her diaper changed. (As if we didn't already know ourselves.)  It is adorable.  Emma is very protective of her little sister and is having a great time being "the big sister."

Emma has moved into her new room.  She has a big girl bed and a Tinker Bell theme.  We had to put side rails up because she fell out the first night at about 5 in the morning.  Reese has the butterfly room that was Emma's.  She is not sleeping in it yet, so Emma has 2 rooms to play in....more places for Momma to pick up toys from too!

Emma is working on potty training too.  Each day is different.  She will let me know when she has already gone, but will not come to me beforehand yet.  She is good about going first thing in the morning when she wakes up, but not so much throughout the day.  We will get it down before fall though.

It is hard to believe the Emma is 2 1/2 years old today and Reese is already a little over 1 month old.  Time flies.

Beatiful! Hope all is well. I hear you about the potty thing, Brendan finally got it down and refuses help with most parts of the process. Hmm, challenging and messy at times! Well good luck with the sleeping thing; hope you guys have a great summer. Give me a call sometime; we could do lunch.-Lisa W.     Jun 22 2008
