April 24, 2009- Nicholas had a little Spring concert at school this week, and he surprised us by reading music and playing the Glockenspiel. It was so adorable, and actually they sounded pretty good. Enjoy the new pics.
April 4, 2009- Tonight was Nicholas' drama debut. He auditioned for the play "Red Riding Hood" on Monday at the Museum here in Cleveland, and got a part as part of the "Wolfgang." I am a proud mama tonight. He did great! It was a lot of hard work, but he said "it was the best thing I have ever done." I think we have found his niche:o) I always knew he was a "Drama King" for some reason. Enjoy the pics.
December 18, 2008- Tomorrow is Nicholas' 8th birthday! I can't believe it. Last night I couldn't go to sleep well, and I laid in bed thinking about Nicholas as a baby. Those days seem so far away now, and I miss them at times. But I love the person he is becoming. He is so loving, caring and funny as can be! I never stop laughing:o) God truly blessed me with the child of my dreams. The pictures I added are pretty self explanatory. I am turning 40 this month, and so many of my friends have taken me out to eat or celebrated with me in some way already. I have enjoyed every minute of it. My girls took me to the Murder Mystery Theater in Chattanooga, and it was a hoot! We laughed, danced, and had some embarrassing moments as well. They have you come up on stage and be part of the act if you are there celebrating your birthday, or if they just want to pick on you. Anyway, I highly recommend it to any group of people who would enjoy a nice meal, and can loosen up and have fun! It is a blast, and family friendly. Anyway, enjoy the pics, because I enjoyed taking them and having fun!
Dec. 6th, 2008-Today we had Nicholas' birthday party at the bowling alley! It was fun. I had the bakery make a cake in the shape of a Wii remote, and we gave him a Wii at his party. He is thrilled, and has been playing it for hours now. I don't think I will be able to get him in the bed...ugh! Thanks to all who were able to come. We appreciate it! I will write more later in the month. Love, Mel and Nic
November 12, 2008- Happy Turkey Time all! We have had a great fall so far, and are now looking forward to Christmas. Hope everyone is doing well and you are enjoying good health and peace. I will write more later. Love to all, Melissa and Nicholas October 9, 2008 - Can you believe it is October? We cannot! It has been a busy one, and we are loving it. October has always been one of my favorite times of the year! I love all the colors, the crisp air, and the activities. We are heading out of town tomorrow for Nashville! Nicholas is a big history buff, and so we are taking him to see the home of Andrew Jackson. I cannot wait to take him to Washington DC one day! We are also going to do some swimming and shopping! I will write more later, and have more pictures after our trip. Love, Mel and Nic August 18, 2008- SUMMER is closing and we are back to the ole grind of school! No, actually it isn't that bad:o) We again got the teacher we were hoping for this year. Denise Sherlin is Nicholas' teacher, and we go to church with her. We are so thankful and grateful for Nicholas to be in her class! This week begins the homework etc. UGH! We will survive. I am still recovering from surgery and have gone back to work. UGH again! I am trying to build up to exercising again, but I am going at it slow because when I do too much I begin hurting at my surgery site. Tomorrow I see Dr. Rumble for a follow up and I'm hoping he will tell me this is all very normal at this stage. Just trust me when I say that there is no easy laparoscopic surgery in my opinion. Having surgery is having surgery! Of course one of my friends pointed out this morning that I'm just not as young as I used to be, so it may take a little longer to recover.....you know who you are, and you will always be older than me:o) Ha Ha! TTFN July 6, 2008- It has been an eventful weekend for us!! The first thing happened on Friday evening. We went out to the driveway to do our traditional sparklers, and roman candles:o) The next thing I know, Dad's shoes had caught on fire, and is is going up his pants. The roman candle package was caught on fire, and had ingnited onto him. He reached down to get the package away from him, and in the process threw it on my feet. Then I'm hopping around and screaming!!! It burned my foot a little, but Dad got the brunt. The plastic from the package had melted and burned his hand probably to a second degree burn. In the excitement of it all I was trying to think what I needed to do. The only thing I could think was "STOP, DROP AND ROLL," even though a water hose was sitting right there. I'm glad he was able to stomp it out before I shoved him to the ground and started beating on him...ha ha ha!!! So, much for fire prevention and rescue training...ha ha! Tonight we had a mini church service up on the new church property. It was so exciting to see our new building, and think of the future!!!! We were invited to write out favorite scripture onto the concrete flooring before they cover it. I wrote one of my favorite scriptures, Hebrews 11:6, but there are many. Dad wrote Habakkuk 3:17-19, which was Tim's favorite scripture. Nicholas wanted to write something too, so he took the pen, and wrote, "I am glad I live with PaPa, Grandmother, and Mama," then signed his name. Okay, you can cry now:o) Pass the kleenex. I hope you enjoy the pictures! I will add more as we progress with the building. It is supposed to be done by the end of the year. YEAH!!! June 30, 2008-Hi All! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer! We went on a little vacation to Pigeon Forge last week and had Christmas in June. There is a new Inn called The Christmas Place Inn across from the big Christmas store on the main strip. It was goreous!!!! I definitely would recommend it to everyone. WE HAD A BLAST ON THE WATER SLIDE!!! It was so much better than fighting the crowd at Splash Country. Nic and I went down it several times, and we went down together twice. The last time we tried that, we laid back so we would go faster. THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE! We went all over the place, legs and arms flying everywhere. So, I don't recommend going down the slide together lying back:o) We went to the magic show, which we had never done before. It was a bit cheesy, but fun. Afterwards we did our traditional Krispie Kreme hot donut run:o) YUM!!! Fun was had by all! Next year it is Disney. TTFN LOVE HUGS AND KISSES! April 4, 2008-Happy Spring to ALL! We are busy as can be around here. As you can see from the pictures, Nicholas had his tonsils out a couple weeks ago. It was interesting to say the least:o) He is now fully recovered according to Dr. McCarley yesterday at the follow up exam. Nicholas kept he and I entertained as usual. I wish so badly I could record the things he tells Dr. McCarley, because I swear I will remember when I come out of there, but I don't always. They are hilarious together. Dr. McCarley asked him if he remembered some of the the stuff he said after he got his "happy juice" and Nicholas said he did but I don't know if he is sure of that. Dr. M told me that the anesthesiologist, who I work with in L&D, kept Nicholas talking to see what all he would tell them. I've not seen Dr. Meisel since the surgery, but I can't wait to hear his take on it all! Nicholas can eat anything he wants now, and I can already tell his appetite has increased. I heard him telling the girls at school in class today while I was there volunteering that he could eat whatever he wants now. They just looked at him with blank faces like they could care less. Kids are so funny. I can't believe his 1st grade year is almost over. It just doesn't seem possible. We are enjoying these last few weeks, and he and mom will be on their own for a few days in May while we trot the globe. Only one month from Sat. and we will be on our way to Europe. I can't wait, and I'm sure will have some stories to tell. Of course I will take tons of pictures to put on the website. TTFN and love to ALL. January 27, 2008- Hi All! Just a quick update. These new pictures on the front page are some pictures my good friend Courtney Brose took of Nicholas and me this fall at Prater's Mill. She did a great job, and we had fun. I've never taken 200 pictures before:o) Needless to say we were quiet worn out afterward. Hope you enjoy. There are tons more pictures from Christmas etc. on the picture page. Nicholas is doing well, and is over halfway done with 1st grade! I can't believe it. We are having fun, and I still go to his school once a week to help out, plus I share room mom responsibilities with Wendy Canida. Things are so busy that we don't get to confer much, but I know she is always there if I need her. Nicholas goes to the orthodontist this week for a consult about his front teeth, so please keep this in your prayers. While we are on the subject of prayer, please continue to pray for my ear. The left ear has been severly infected since at least Sept. 2007 and probably before then. It causes me pain daily and I have exhausted antibiotics. The doctor says surgery is the only other thing he could recommend, and we are rebuking this:o) So, please pray!!! I am on a weightloss mission. My good friend Patty and I are doing LA Weightloss, and are each other's cheerleaders. It is hard at times, and other times easy. We are doing well, but she is beating me so far, however I am in it to win it! Dad, my cousin Jody, Brittany and I are heading to Paris and London in May and we are excited. We just booked the hotel in Paris, and will stay right across the street from the Eiffel tower! It will be difficult to leave Nicholas and Mom, but I know they will do well since they are such buddies. We love to hear from you all and hope you are having a great 2008 so far....TTFN and love, hugs and kisses to all!
Oct. 15, 2007- Hey, here's a little update. Fall break was a blast. We just did some stuff around here instead of going out of town, but we had so much fun! Just a trip to Toys R Us is a treat for Mr. Nicholas. I've added some pictures and I'll write more later. TTFN Love, Melissa and Nicholas September 9, 2007- We just finished putting together a desk for Nicholas' room. I found it online at children's desks.com, and it is perfect. We always have limited space around here, so it works well. THANKS TO PAT PAT FOR FINDING THE ANTIQUE CHAIR AND PAINTING IT (you were a willing victim, I mean friend)! Now we are looking for a few other things to complete the look. I love things that are old and things that are new but look old timey. School is well under way and we are busy doing home work, karate, and church activities. Nicholas loves his new Sunday School class with Mrs. Sheila on Sun. nights. He also loves his 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Streun, who is doing a wonderful job! PaPa and I go help in the classroom on Thursdays and do things as I can that she sends home for me to do. Work has been extremely busy for me the last few months, but I still love those babies! Also, my health has not been great. My left ear over the last year has been infected intermittantly and last weekend I even spent time in the emergency room. As I type this I still am very aware that I cannot hear out of my left ear yet! It has been so frustrating. I feel so disoriented at times. My doctor says to have patience, but the patience is running out:o) My next step is to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist to check out what we need to do about my ear. Just keep this in your prayers. You don't realize how important your sense of hearing is until you lose part of it. TTFN and LOVE TO ALL! August 2007-Nicholas received the next level in karate Monday night. He is now a yellow belt. It was fun seeing him be so excited. TTFN August 7, 2007- Nicholas started 1st grade this morning, boo hoo! He is a real elementary student now. I can't believe it! I stayed and helped Mrs. Streun organize the school supplies, and so got to see all his classmates. They are adorable, and I know we are going to have a fun year. TTFN! JULY 29, 2007- We have had a fun spring and summer! Nicholas found out a few weeks ago he will have Mrs. Streun for his first grade teacher. She is an old friend of the family, as a matter fact, my mom took her mom to the hospital the day she went into labor to have her. We are tickled and look forward to a fun year! I love helping as much as I can between working at the hospital and doing things I enjoy(not that there is much time for that). Hope everyone has had a good summer and TTFN! We love you. Mel and Nic May 7, 2007- Can you believe my baby graduated Kindergarten today? I can not either. It seems like we just started school. This morning was the graduation ceremony, and it was precious. We have had a blast this year! It has been so much fun working with Nicholas and all his classmates. He has really enjoyed everything about Kindergarten and loves his Hopewell school. The teachers are awesome, and super organized. You never have to worry about things being chaotic, because everything is planned to the letter. I will have more pictures on the website within the next few days, but I wanted to get this picture out to everyone right away. Tonight we are having a celebration dinner in Nicholas' honor, and of course we are having his favorite things.....spagetti and then brownies for dessert. TTFN, Mel December 27, 2006- We had a wonderful Christmas!!! Lots of fun times and greast gifts was had by all. Of course we always kept the true meaning of Christmas in our minds. The special speaker at our ladies Christmas dinner said the other night, "Jesus is not just the reason for the season, He is the reason period!" I liked that. Visit the picture page to see a few more new ones. Happy New Year and love to all. Mel December 20, 2006- Hi All! Hope this e-mail finds everyone well, and getting ready for Christmas. It has been a very busy time for us. I am still working night shift at the hospital, which I have determined is my fate until I'm 90. I guess when I'm an old woman I'll still be telling them to "push!" We have been very busy, delivering over 100 babies each month. Last night we were so busy, that there was no one to answer the phone and I had to go to the bathroom, so I took the cordless phone with me into the potty. Needless to say, while I was in there one of the Dr.'s called and was trying to give me orders over the phone!!! Because of the cordless phone breaking up, he couldn't hear me and kept hanging up and calling back. I was yelling into the phone trying to get him to hear me while finishing up!!! It was crazy. NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN BABY WORLD! Nicholas is enjoying his holiday from school, and just celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday. I can't believe it. Each day he brings me more joy than the day before. There is never a dull moment with Nicholas around either. I tell dad and mom all the time, I don't know what I did for entertainment before he came along. He is funny, smart and so so sweet. His favorite thing to call me right now is, "my lovely," which just melts me. Don't know how he came up with that one, but I like it. His favorite thing right now is trains and Star Wars! We are both big Star Wars fans, so that suits me just fine. I'll write more later and hope this New Year is fresh and inspiring for everyone! Love Ya!
