As for me and my house, We will serve the Lord. -Joshua 24:15

2/11/10 - We have had 2 really big snows, in the past two weeks....one of about 12 inches and one of about 6 inches. They have trapped us inside for several days each time and caused a lot of cabin fever. Jacob's school has gone 3 days over the amount of snow days allowed and is having to make them up.
Parker turned 4 years old on February 3rd, Happy Birthday to my little one!!
I am currently taking Anatomy and Physiology and Abnormal Psychology at Jackson State Community College and have turned in my application for the school of nursing and will find out about admission in April. I am doing well and have an A in both courses as of now.
Black and Decker is doing well and Patrick is getting rewarded for his work, which we are so thankful for in these expensive economic times. However, his job is taking him to China in March for 3 weeks(he'll be there on his birthday) and in May for 4 weeks. But, hey, lots of people would love to 1. have a stable job and 2. go to China. So, we are blessed beyond belief and know that the Lord is so incredibly good.

11/25/09 - I was born on Wednesday, November 25th 1981; 28 year later Mom still likes to remind me of the hospital Thanksgiving dinner she had to eat the next day...Thank you for bringing me into this world and for everything you have done for me since, Mom and Dad. I love you both more than you could ever know!!
Love,
Lindsay
On Monday 11/09/09, Parker and I were in a car accident with my best friend, Jenny. We were riding along with her on her errands, when we were talking about heading back to the house for lunch at almost exactly noon, a truck lost control going through a stop sign at approx. 50mph, colliding into Jenny's side of the truck, totaling both vehicles. He never made any attempt to stop.
Jenny is still pretty miserable with a sling on her left arm b/c of pain in her arm and shoulder. She is having some neck, back, and head pain. We are all staying with her throughout the day to make sure she doesn't get worse. I have had my knees x-rayed and they came back clean, except for a lot of swelling and bruising. I am having some neck and back pain, but nothing unbearable. Parker was lucky enough to have been asleep in his car seat, so he was relaxed when it happened, so except for a minor seat belt rash, that has already disappeared, he is fine.
I have spent the past 2 days since the accident just sleeping over at Jenny's so that we could talk and complain together while watching television. The husbands filled our prescriptions and brought us milkshakes and dinner.
We are very thankful to have been in her truck, rather than having taken my car, like we had discussed. I might not be here typing this right now, if we had, so Glory be to God in the Highest!!!

Comments Thank the Lord you are going to be all right. We never know what is coming. You have to worry about the other driver so much. I am glad you and Parker are o.k. Hope Jenny will be good too. - MaMaw
Thank you Mamaw, I am feeling really good today and Jenny went to the Dr. yesterday and he put her on work leave for two weeks and gave her some pain and anti inflammatory meds. She is going to be fine. - Lindsay
11/2/09 - We had an incredibly full and fun weekend. On Friday night, we finally go to have the Halloween Party that Jenny and I have been setting up for weeks. There was lots of funny food and cute decorations and we went all out with the costumes, Patrick and I went with Roman characters, Jenny and Jeremy were the devil and his mistress, Jeremy's came out incredibly convincing. Patrick even made a sword, and scabbard out of wood and a holster out of a broken belt he hadn't thrown away yet. Parker loves Scooby Doo and dogs in general, so he got his wish to go as Scooby and Jacob chose Iron Man and instead of wearing the cheap plastic mask that came with it,he wore his mask from a set that came with a gun type thing. We had a great time.
On Saturday, we slept late, then after I went grocery shopping(where almost every item on my list was on sale!) we went to Chapel Hill Baptist Church's Trail of Treats. It was a hay ride through the Bible, each booth gave a story, such as Moses parting the Red Sea(which was our favorite) and at the end of the show they gave treats before moving on to the next one. We didn't get to ride in Jenny and Jeremy's trailer, but we did get to ride in the Pastor, Brother Dale's trailer and he was a riot! When we went home Patrick dropped us off in the back of the neighborhood so that we could trick or treat our way home.
On Sunday, we planned to go to City Fest together for a BMX show and concerts, but it was supposed to get really cold(which it did) and Parker fell and bloodied his nose on the stairs so Patrick decided to stay home with them and make pizza while I went with Jenny and Jeremy, Jill and Jason, and Nancy....It was a lot of fun! We saw some great BMX tricks and some incredible Contemporary Christian Bands, JK 52, Tenth Avenue North, and one of my favorites, 33 Miles!! We danced, we sang, and we worshiped together, it was great!

Comments My. My what a wonderful weekend you had. I am happy for you. We did not have a single Trick or Treater to come by. - MaMaw
We were the only house on our street with lights on so not even one trick-or-treater cam to our door either:( So, when the enormous Mexican family came home across the street, I filled alltheir little bags up and took the rest to the bonfire! - Lindsay
10/26/09 - I took Jacob to his first roller skating party yesterday afternoon. He took falling down like a champ for a while, until he fell pretty good on the hardwood floor. I skated with him for a while...apparently it's not like riding a bike because I was surprised by how much I had to relearn before I could help him.
Comments What fun. W ere talking recenyly about skating parties at Boyd school. Fond memories. - MaMaw
10/25/09 - The whole family went to Camp mack Morris in Camden, TN to camp at Spookoree with Pack 48. It was a long trip and lots of hiking for Parker, who ended up riding on Patrick's shoulders for most of the trip. There were haunted hayrides, pirate ships, and forts, we learned about astronomy and ate hotdogs and s'mores over the fire. It was a lot of fun. Jacob got to shoot paint guns, bb guns, sling shots, and now and arrows. It was fun, but we are all glad to be home and sleeping in our nice, warm beds. I hope you enjoy the pictures...we took about 465! I posted those that included family members..so you don't have to search through so many. We took tons of all the boys doing all of the activities so that their parents could enjoy them, too. There was a pirate with a skull on a stick, who Parker just was fascinated by and we saw a magician, but it was way too dark to take any photos of him, he also juggles swords, bowling balls, and stun guns that were taped to sticks and turned on!!! The boys loved it!! I also posted some pictures from the pumpkin patch that our friends Jenny and Jeremy took for us.
10/3/09 - We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather today and spend time outside, so we packed a picnic lunch and went to Pinson Mounds, which is right outside Jackson, TN. We ate our lunch in the trees, went throught the museum, went up the tallest mound, which I believe is 77feet high, and hiked the trail to the boardwalk, where we enjoyed the lookout over the Forked Deer River. At the top of the mound, Patrick carved, "Middleton Family" on the railing. We had a good time despite Parker falling apart midway through. I have posted some pictures, I hope you enjoy them.
9/30/09 - Jacob is feeling better and fever free, however, he is still coughing a lot. He begged to go to school today, so I gave him cough syrup, tylenol, a cough drop sucker, a bag of kleenex, and a tube of blistex. I guess we'll see how it goes. He hates to miss school and I think the thought of all the make-up work building up motivated me to send him. Plus, today was picture day and he was looking forward to it. More later about how he is doing. Now Parker sounds like he's getting it, so still stuck at home with a sick little person.
Comments What a beautiful Park Bet it will be pretty when the leaves turn. Thanks for pictures. We enjoyed them. - MaMaw
Oh it is a beautiful place, I would definitely like to go back when the leaves change color! And we should...seeing as how it's only about 30 minutes from our house! - Lindsay
Medina Middle School was missing 25%(that translates to 178) students, due to illness today. They have cancelled school for them for the rest of the week. Medina Elementary School was missing 9%(didn't hear how many that translates to) due to illness. Jacob is part of that percentage.
He began to complain yesterday. We took him to church and came home. I wasn't worried until I realized that he had not eaten breakfast or lunch and only 1 taco for dinner. He began to fell a little warm last night, so I decided to take his temperature, it was about 99.
This morning I got him up and took his temp again, it registered 102.7. So, I let him go back to sleep and called the school. When he finally came down stairs, I took his temp again 102.4. I talked him into a glass of juice and a piece of toast. The boys spent the morning painting until he began to feel tired . He has had some tylenol and slept pretty much all day, this evening he ate about half of a peanut butter and banana sandwich and some more juice. That's about it, he got up from sleeping on the couch to go to bed with a temp of 101.6. We will check again in the morning unless he wakes up feeling bad tonight.
There is quite an outbreak going on, there are many cases of flu here and a couple of confirmed cases of Swine Flu, so we will keep a close eye on him and keep him well rested and hydrated. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot we can do about it. The worst part is that as you probably know and have experienced yourselves, it has been raining for two solid weeks and today has been the most incredible, blue sky, sunshine, breezy, wonderful day and he had to miss most of it. He came out for a couple of minutes to watch Patrick set up the new tent to seal the seams until he got to tired and cold. Please pray for a quick recovery.
Love you all.
Lindsay
P.S. - On a more positive note....Parker is potty trained! Patrick told him that if he wanted to go camping like the big boys in late October he had to use the potty, so all done!
9/16/09 - Oh yeah, Jacob's teacher was really impressed to send his folder home with straight 100's last week....clearly she is new and doesn't know Jacob very well yet...hehe:) I am very proud of the great work he does. Also, the new Pack 48, B-Class Uniform t-shirts came in yesterday and they are so cute!! Jacob helped Patrick design them.. Ihave uploaded a couple of pictures of Jacob wearing it. It will be what they take to Cuboree this weekend. You may want to pray for me, we are all going cming together, I hope I can keep a reign on Parker!! :)
9/16/09- We spent this weekend in Jackson, MS. It was so much fun. We celebrated Papaw and Ivy's birthday's. I believe it was Papaw's 88th birthday(correct me if I'm worng:) and he is as awesome as ever! Ivy is 16 and driving now....EEEK! It was great to see everyone, we had a wonderful time...we had dinners and shopped a little bit and Papaw and Dad took Parker and Jacob to see Monsters of the Deep at the Science Museum, they loved it. I still can't firgure out how they came home with stuffed animals that were rats, instead of sharks or trutles or something of that nature:) I forgot my camera, so hopefully *hint, hint* Dad will read this and send me some of the pictures he took!
8/25/09 - I don't really have any recent pictures since the boys have spent the end of July through the middle of August in Pensacola. Jacob started 3rd grade today, which makes him one of the big kids this year. The middle school starts at 4th grade here. His teacher is Miss Guy, she is new, very young, adorable, and Jacob really likes her. Somehow, he has ended up in a class with mostly boys and one kid he knew in first grade and one from second grade, so by the time this year is over, I figure he may know every child in the third grade, since last year he only knew a couple of kids from the previous year! There are 10 3rd grade classes all with about 20 students!! There were only 7 2nd grade classes last year!!
We have joined the YMCA and I am enjoying going every morning after dropping Jacob off at school, since they have child care for Parker. Hopefully I can get the four of us in a picture together soon. We broke all the bikes out on Sunday evening and I had forgotten how much we enjoy it. All four of us rode up and down the street(Parker in the power wheels because he thinks the pedals on his bike should push themselves and gets frustrated). Ah...Parker....opinionated, loud, funny, and refusing to potty train...pretty much sums him up. I am thinking about sending him to a local preschool at a church where he will only go from 9a-2p on Tue and Thur in the hopes of getting him interested in the potty. Not sure what else is going on...
Other than this being the new school year, means it is Patrick's first full year as Medina's Cubmaster....Kick-Off and Raingutter Regatta were this past Saturday for current scouts, Round up of new scouts for the 2009-10 year is on August 27th, with the first meeting on August 31st. He has also designed this years t-shirt, it is green with a camping scene and the pack number and city, state in khaki. The kids really like it, as well as the parents. He is staying very busy with that and work.
Patrick will probably be taking 2 trips to China this coming year, for two weeks each time...he has a bigger position, which requires these trips. We have been blessed with this job. As of last year, while many were, unfortunately being laid-off, BDK decided to give a 5% paycut across the board, which was difficult, but we were glad to still be employed when so many did not have that luxury. A couple of engineers quit recently and rather than replace them, Senior Engineers were moved up a pay band, giving Patrick a substantial raise and making him eligible for bonuses. We are so glad to have moved here and to finally feel as though things are working in our favor. Having faith has only made our family stronger and we are so happy to be together...and can't wait to see what God has in store for us in the future!
Comments Things do work out in strange ways. Sometime a door is closed so another will open. Hang in there-You are doing good. MaMaw -
Thanks for the update. So good to hear everyone is doing good. Parker will come around with going to school with others his age I bet. Sometimes that means a lot. Jacob is a wonder boy and I am proud of him. I am glad you are happy with job and everyting and feel at home there. Would love to see you all. Come when you can-I understand that family obligations take up most of your time. When do you start to school? MaMaw - MAmaw
Thank you for your encouragement, Mamaw! You're the best! - Lindsay
6/3/09 - We are having a great start to our summer. On Friday we went to our friends Jenny and Jeremy's daughter Brittany's Birthday Bash, which included a concert in the park followed by dinner and a pool party, then on Sunday we went over there after church to swim and have lunch and celebrate Brandi and Ronnie's son, Ridgley's 3rd birthday, then we all caravanned from there to Nancy's house to celebrate her son, Dalton's 10th Birthday! Monday Patrick took a half day so I could get some phone calls done and we had a fun lunch together. Yesterday we had a play date with Ridgley, Bentley, Blakeley, Bailey, Riley, and Sean at Brandi's house. Today Jacob is attending VBS at Englewood with our neighbor Jill and her daughter, Mary. Jacob has had a little bit of a crush on Mary since we moved here. She has invited him to go for the rest of the week. Tonight we will have Life Group, where I will be leading the Youth Group and will be helping them with a church clean up. Then on Thursday we will be having another play date with everyone from Tuesday plus several more children and their moms at ours and Jill's houses for water play. That is all we have for this week so far! Phew, this will be a great summer!! We have been invited to go on a trip to Nashville Shores, which is a water park, on June 13th with several friends and their kids, I am excited!! Things are going well here and I hope to have many photos to post this summer!!
Comments Thanks for bringing me up to what you are up to. My My that takes me back to summer when our kids were young. Bible School was the highlight and going swimming after swim lessons, anf many more things as they grw=ew up. We did not have as much as you do but I was kept busy trying to keep everyone happy. - MaMaw
5/28/09 - I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, enjoying the freedom that so many have fought and given their lives for. Gold Bless America and her troops!! We went to the Medina Memorial Day Flag Ceremony. Pack 48 was asked to raise the flag. Then we went to an incredible BBQ at Summit. The chicken and ribs were incredible and the kids had a great time running around and playing together.
5/23/09 - We had a great end of the year party. Mrs. Anndrea has been wonderful. Jacob has now officially moved on to the third grade. We received his final report card and he had another great A average, 99.6, putting him on the Super Superintendent's List for the entire year!! Here's to a fun summer off! Lindsay
5/21/09 - Parker and I attended Jacob's 2nd grade Awards Day, today! Jacob received Best Science Average for his Class and a trophy for being on the Superintendent's List all year! Yay, Jacob!!! What a great year this has been!!
Comments Way to go Jacob--we are proud of you!!!! - MaMaw
4/11/09 - We spent our Mother's Day attending our morning church service and then left there heading straight for Memphis. We went to see Mom and Dad and have lunch with them. It was wonderful and we got to see Mom's tattoo! She got it on Saturday. We gave her an enormous singing card, bracelet and a set of measuring spoons that actually measure pinch, smidgen, and dash-they are very pretty! It was a nice day! I have posted all of the Spring Break pictures as well as a couple from Mother's Day. I hope you enjoy them! I finally quit my job at Hallmark, God is not calling me to sell cards forever, but He is calling me to be very involved in helping Summit Church grow and call as many people as we can reach to His Kingdom. So, that will be my focus for now, I am still planning to attend JSCC in the fall, however, that will allow me to continue being active in our church, which my job was not doing. Thank you for all of your love and support enjoy the photos, I certainly have! Lindsay
