CAR SEAT SAFETY STATION
I have recently, within the last year, become obsessed with carseat safety. It is one of the most important things you can do for your child to save their life in the event of an accident. Driving your child around in a vehicle is one of the most dangerous situations you put your child through and we do it everyday. You are not only putting your child at risk everytime you strap them in, but you are putting that risk in other driver's hands as well. YOU may think you are a good driver, but you can NOT control the others on the road. Keeping your child in a 5 point harness car seat past the minimun of 4 years and 40 pounds is the safest option. If you think about it, race car drivers wear a harness. Because it's safer. Why wouldn't you want the very safest option for your precious cargo? Alot of people are unaware that there are carseats that go past 40 pounds. Up to 80 pounds, even!!! Morgan rides in a Britax Regent that goes to 80 pounds. She will be harnessed as long as possible. It's called Extended Harnessing.

Graduating your child to a Booster is only decreasing their safety. Just because they meet the requirements that are printed on the booster, doesn't mean that you have to use it, that they even fit properly or that it's even safe. Sadly there are many stories about children who were too young for boosters who were killed in an accident. Kyle David Miller is one of them. His parents founded the Kyle David Miller Foundation.

Have you ever heard of Extended Rear-facing? Everyone knows that an infant should be rear facing to 1 year AND 20 pounds, right? That is only HALF of the information. You can keep them rear facing to the weight limits of the child restraint. It is so much safer to rear face then forward face for anyone. If it was possible, adults are much safer rear facing. People say "Oh they might break a leg or a hip in an accident if they rear face that long". There are no documented cases where a child has broken a hip or leg while rear facing in an accident. Sadly, there are many cases of head and neck injury in forward facing children that could have been preventedif the child remained rear facing. However, even if a child did break a leg, it's much easier to fix a broken leg than it is a broken neck or spine. The vertebrae do not begin to fuse until ages 3-6 years old. This is why rear-facing is the safest as it givesmore support and protection to the incomplete vertebrae and therefore the spinal cord. With vertebrae in pieces, a forward facing child as a greater chance of damage to the spine. Rear facing decreases the risk of cervical spine injury in the event of a crash. You can't argue the facts.

Mother/Daughter Time
My Daughter
For my precious baby daughter
A Mother's richest treasure.
You'll never know how much I love you
Or how you fill my life with pleasure
Mommy made this site for you
Starting with the first year.
I tried to capture all the moments
The laughs, the looks, the messes, the tears.
I stare at you every now and then
Your smile just couldn't be brighter.
The only problem that I have
Is how I can hug you tighter?
I'd like to make the time stand still
To keep my baby a baby.
I wanted a little girl for so long
Oh how soon you'll be a young lady.
Your personallity fits just right
A true little girl are you.
Oh my how you love your babies,
Your animals, your Barbies, your dress-up, too.
My favorite time of all, though,
Is when the morning sunshine beams
On that sleepy little angel face
Wanting to cuddle and tell me your dreams.
So with this site I give you
My feelings, my thoughts, my love.
The pictures and poems made for you
My daughter sent from heaven above.
