Naomi Ruth is our fifth child, our second through the miracle of adoption. We began pursuing adoption for the second time in July of 2004. We adopted our first adopted child in 1997, from the time she was about 2 years old we wanted to adopted again. We had prayed long and hard for a baby when God blessed us with Sarah, and we wanted to make sure she always knew that we didn't adopted again, because she wasn't enough. We always said we would only adopted a second time if she was on board with the idea. In July of 2004, Sarah announced she wanted a baby brother or baby sisiter. We had adopted Sarah through our local Department of Family and Children services, So we contacted them again. They informed us that sense it had been over five years sense we adopted Sarah, we would have to start from scratch. We began Impact training (Training for foster and adoptive parents)in October of 2004, we were investigated up one side and down the other, jumped through all the hoops and finally in October of 2005 our home study was completed and we were approved to adopt again. In November 2005 we received a call that we had a five day old baby girl. Her mother was voluntarily relinquishing her rights.Birth father unknown. We picked her up at the hospital. We brought her home and choose the name Rachel for her, 24 hours later we received the call that the birth mother had changed her mind, and we had to give the baby back. That was absolutely the worst day of our lives. I did not fully realize how desperately I wanted another baby until we lost Rachel. That night as I cried my self to sleep God gently spoke to my heart, he said greater and more abundantly than I could ever imagine would he bless us.A few weeks later in church one night God again spoke to my heart , he told me that our baby was on its way, it would be here that summer. He laid the name Naomi Ruth on my heart.I didn't understand at the time why he choose that name, but I would soon find out. In August 2006(Exactly nine moths after losing Rachel) we received a phone call,we had a 3 day old baby girl. She was one of many born to this birth mother,All of the other children had been terminated on due to abuse and neglect , they had all been adopted out. DFCS was going straight for termination based on prior history,Birth father is unknown. They ask did we want her, we said yes. They told us that the baby had tested positive for cocaine at birth. We told them that was ok, because our God was big enough to handle that. They told us she was legal risk because she wasn't legally available for adoption at placement, but she was as low of legal risk as it came. We said YES we want her.We brought her home, and God granted us peace that transends all understanding for I had told him that was the only way I could do this was if he gave me peace. When we picked her up, we learned that she had not experienced any withdrawals from the drugs, at 5 days old the doctor said if she hadn't had withdrawals yet, she wouldn't have it, he was right she never did. (She has never had any problems from the drugs, she is developmentally on target, and in some areas she is ahead of target)I had realized from the beginning that it was nine months sense we lost Rachel, I didn't realize exactly how close to nine months it was until I used a online calculator that told the most likely date of conception based on the birth date,Ruthies most likely date of conception was November 9th the night we lost Rachel. When she was five weeks old we went to court for our first hearing . At this hearing DFCS, was asking permission to pursue termination. The Birth mother , who was in jail by then, came to the hearing, she informed the court that her aunt wanted the baby. When our case worker informed us that there was a relative that might get our baby I went to the pits of hell and sat for 23 hours. I prayed harder during that time than I have ever prayed. I was at the end of my rope, in absolute despair, when God showed up and rescued me. I called a prayer counselor and told her what was going on,She ask me what we were naming the baby. I told her Ruth, she began to laugh and said of course you are. She said that as I was talking she was praying for me and ask God what to tell me,she said he quickened in her spirit the story of Ruth and Boaz and the kinsman redeemer ( From the book of Ruth In the bible)and that God had told her to tell me "That he had a plan for Ruthie , just as he had a plan for Ruth in the bible, that he had planned her for us. That this had to happen so know one could ever say they didn't have there chance, that he had called us to be her kinsman redeemer, that he had spoken in this matter and it was finished. We had nothing to fear." About 3 weeks later we received the news that the relative DID NOT want her. God removed her just as he said he would. In November we went to court to get permission to pursue termination, One year to the day of loosing Rachel our case worker called to tell us Non reunification Status had been granted and we had permission to pursue termination . The judge made the case worker swear under oath that she would file the termination package immediately.( She said never had the judge required her to sware under oath of her intent to file a termination packet) She said he said he wanted this finished ASAP. The birth mother did not show up to contest the proceedings. The Judge ordered DFCS to attempt a visit with the birth mother, as it was her legal right, and he didn't want there to be any problems with our termination hearing. So two weeks later I met the case worker at the jail to attempt this visit. I prayed all morning, (as well as in the weeks leading up to this visit,) that if there be any way possible for God to remove this from happening, please do so, but if it had to take place, then please just not make us go through more than one visit. The case worker took the baby and entered the jail, about 5 min later she reappeared . The jailer had refused to allow her in with the baby. The birth mother did not want to see her. The case worker showed the jailer the court order, she told her she didn't care, she would not allow the visit, because the birth mother did not want them.(apparently the birth mother refused to give written consent for the visits to take place.) The case worker said,"we tried that is all we had to do, we are finished with that". Once again God came through. Our court date for termination was in Jan 2007.The case worker was convinced that the birth mother would show up in court to contest the termination. She was wrong. For when God says it is finished , he means it is finished! No one at all showed up to contest the proceedings.Termination was granted with out any problems. Ruthie was now legaly available for us to adopt. They told us once our adoption papers were completed,it would be turned over to our attorney to handle the finalization. They said we would have finalization in about 3 to 4 months. We signed our intent to adopt papers, In February ,2007.On Monday March 5,2007 our case worker called to schedule the day to sign our adoption papers. On Monday March 26,2007 At 8:30 am we met with our case worker at DFCS and signed our adoption papers, at 1:30 the same day we met with our attorney to get finalization under way. Our attorney received all the paper work from DFCS Friday April 13,2007 We had an appointment to sign all the court paper work in her office Monday April 16,2007 at 2:30 On Thursday May 17,2007 Our adoption finalized! It took all of 5 min to make Naomi Ruth legaly ours. God is such an amazing God, It never fails to amaze me how good God is. He always does what he says he will do.God told us on September 13, 2006 that he had spoken in the matter of Ruthies adoption and that it was finished, when God says it is finished, it is finished!!! God is so amazing. When we signed our adoption papers,we received all of Ruthies family history, including the pregnancy and birth history. After reading it I can truly say Ruthie is a miracle baby.God created Ruthie just for us, he had his hand on her from the moment of her conception,God called us to be Ruthies Kinsman redeemer, and he has brought it to pass just as he said he would! Praise God from who all blessings flow for God is SO good!
