October 9 ~ We've hit the terrible 3's. I've uploaded a few photos. Sammie Kate & Sydney Grace will be "nice" Spiders this halloween. Preschool - "Octopus" classroom is going well. It's at hope that the whining, meltdowns, tantrums, screaming and all around LOUDness has hit an extreme level.
No, I haven't forgotten about the website. The girls have basically stopped napping. They keep us crazy busy. Mike will post more videos soon. He's been having fun w/ his new camera. We went to Gilroy Gardens on Easter. Then I got sick - I've been back and forth with 3 doctors working on treatments. I'm having a challenging time. Sammi & Syd are doing great. They love school. We've been doing lots with our preschool friends, twins group, local moms group, community activities, etc. Always on the go! They are talking non - stop! questions, demands, proud proclamations (I pooped in the potty! Please wipe my butt. I want yellow candy please.) Yes, we bribe them with M&M's to poop in the potty. Sam has learned to manipulate that system! I'm volunteering more for MPPOM. Reaching out to families with TTTS risk and pregnancy loss. Website Manager, Newletter Coordinator and Publicity Lead on the mppom board. I'm making up for the past 2 years when I couldn't volunteer b/c of my health. No worries, most of the work can be done from home when the girls are at school - and when I feel well enough to do it. It's helping me in many ways. There are still exhausting days. There are days when Mike & I feel completely spent - most of the time. But we usually end the day laughing about the things S & S have said and done that day. Like "one more kiss" again and again at bedtime.... Sydney memorizing books and essentially reading it to Mike instead of the other way around.... Demanding to wear certain clothing... FYI Syd is not so liking the purple lately. 2 pink girls. how will you tell them apart ;-) .... "like this".... "oh my goodness".... lobsters are "monsters"... Dragon Tales - the Wheezy Roller coaster episode over and over again... Bug's Life ... All bugs : not afraid of the crawling ones - terrified of anything bug that flies! Sam can find every bug imaginable! .... Little horses and goldfish are still the fav rides at Gilroy.... pasta & strawberries are still fav foods... they love to dip asparagus in soy sauce. Syd prefers the tips and Sam likes the crunchy bottoms.... Cassie dragon and ducks are our favorite toys - must sleep with and take everywhere! The ducks where out of style for awhile, but back in demand... Baa Baa black sheep and Puff the magic dragon are 2 fav songs.... Disney/Pixar Cars are still very popular... they love sparkly stickers - especially Cars sparkly stickers - thx Granny... Oh and the cars coloring books are thoroughly colored - again & again & again - thx G'ma & G'pa... Tantrums and meltdowns over random things happen often. But mostly they are happy & loud. Did I mention loud? I never knew 2 such loud little girls. I know, I know - I'm loud now - but really I was a shy kid. Okay, so they are alittle shy occasionally - mostly Syd. But mostly they are loud! Mommy says alot "that hurts my ears" and "indoor voice" and "where are my ear plugs!?".... They are wicked smart with alphabet, counting, vocabulary and learning just about everything with lightning speed. ... They love repetition - the same books & music over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I think they are trying to drive us insane!.... "I want apple juice, i want apple juice, iwant apple juice, i want apple juice" said very quickly w/ no time for me to respond. Teaching them "May I have apple juice please"? They are getting better.... Occasionally fight with each other... but mostly they love each other and it's adorable beyond words... The hugs and kisses and I love yous and snuggles. All wonderful!... Sam's routine: kiss on lips, eskimo kisses, gentle hug to the side, "I love you daddy".... Syd's routine: a very tight hug around my neck, a quick kiss and at some point "I love you mommy & daddy & sammi". Oh and then there is the Syd wanting to hug & kiss the Sam - which Sam attempts to run away from and Syd chases. Someone often gets hurt. There are a million things they do that make us laugh, make us cry, make us angry, make us crazy, make us love them to infinity and beyond. We hope we'll remember the good and laugh about the other stuff.
3/3 ~ Rainy Tuesday at home. Syd & Sam have actually napped the past 2 days in a row... which might sound like a good thing... but in reality it means a very long Tuesday stuck at home while it pours rain and they won't nap. Oh yeah, and Sam wants to listen to the same CD over and over and over and over and over again. I'll have Bah Bah Black Sheep stuck in my head for eternity. Syd & Sam are doing great on the potty. They are playing more on their own. Dressing/undressing... very independent our 3 yr olds. A new interest: "Dragon Tales" on PBS. Thanks to Grandma Cathy and Aunt Cassie sending a "Cassie" dragon stuffed toy - which was fought and argued about - I had to purchase a 2nd one from ebay so they each had their own! They are mostly happy little girls who are talking up a storm. *short interuption* Syd was pouting something about her cars. I've been busy trying to sell our high chairs, crib tents, etc. I still have several folders filled with pics to edit. But since naps are unlikely, not sure when it'll happen.... And it's supposed to rain all week long.... (hey atleast it's not snowy and cold, right?)
We hosted it at "My Gym" which is like the best ever indoor playground for a 3 yr old. Ball pit, trampoline, puppets, songs, tumble mats, slides, castle, swings, bubbles, music (cars soundtrack and others) and so much more. All the kids had a blast. There were 3 gym teachers who did alot of the work which made it easier for us parents. Good mixture of free play and some structured activities. They really make a big deal out of the birthday girls. Special rides on sleds and swings. We sang Happy Bday to each of them individually. They had 2 cakes. Syd wanted chocolate and Mater. Sam wanted vanilla and Lightening Mcqueen. Many times throughout the 1.5 hours, the teachers had everyone chant happy birthday to Samantha & Sydney. It was very special for them. All of the kids and parents (and grandparents too) had a good time. All the kids got Cars coloring books for a "favor". We encouraged a "no gifts please" policy and instead asked for optional charitable donation to the TTTS foundation. Sam & Syd (Mom & Dad) are exhausted. The girls passed out quickly tonight. Mike & I are still finishing up chores. Long day, but so much fun.
Tues: MPPOM twins playdate, Sunfish Valentine's day party. Thurs: lots and lots of errands. Exhausted!
Hopefully they'll sleep through the night. *fingers crossed* FYI if you see comments from Asia and wondering who that is.... it's our friend (former babysitter) Joanna (aka Jo). It's her Polish name - which she has always had, but is now formally using. It's pronounced "Asha".
As usual, pretty much nothing worked according to plan (much time was wasted being a witness to an accident - see below). The toddler rails, which I thought were more "gated" are not. They could fall right out, no "rail", just a little piece of wood. Arg! Not sure what we'll do next.... During my outing, I saw a scary accident. I saw a car "fly" off the highway and spin upside down and around then land in a ditch. I was in the BRU/TRU parking lot and walked over. He was fine, the car not so much. I called 911 and the police came. I was soaked! I didn't stick around to find out how they were going to pull that car out. 2/14 ~ Outing to Farmers Market. Dinner out for bday/Vday at Chevy's. 2/13 ~ S & S spent most of their bday at school. I brought cupcakes with Lightening and Mater (cars movie). No nap, some meltdowns. Lots of phone calls. Pretty sure most of you heard the meltdowns! Random funny comments: Sydney: "oh no, oh my goodness"
Sam napped - Syd did not. But they did manage to allow me to get these pics uploaded. not to my usual standards (cropped, etc), but something is better than nothing. more to come asap.
Almost every day Syd and/or Sam say something that makes us laugh. If only I were writing all this down...... Hopefully Mike will help me over the 3 day wknd. I promise to at minimum get some bday photos up on Friday night or Saturday morning. I can't believe our little preemie twins are turning THREE!
2/3 ~ Goodbye to our Jasper Cat
We've been busy with potty training and NOT napping. More updates as soon as I can find the time. :-)
Syd & Sam had a great Christmas morning. Lots of presents from Santa, Mom & Dad, Grandma & Grandpa, Granny & Grandpap, Uncle Clarence & Aunt Joanne, Great Grandma, etc. (box from Grandma Cathy & Cassie is delayed, but that'll help us spread out the fun this week!). They got: a big dollhouse and dolls, "Cars" toys, tons of books and paint w/ water coloring books, clothing, tigger masks, puppie toys, bears, and more. Thanks to everyone for being SO generous! The girls and Mike are having some quiet time. 12/24 ~ Christmas Eve ~ Sydney & Samantha actually had preschool today for a few hours. The afternoon/evening was challenging since Sam didn't nap. We opened 1 present early to keep them entertained. We had crepes for dinner! 12/23 ~ We went to this street in San Carlos for lights and some fun pics. www.lightsofthevalley.com/Properties/San_Carlos.asp 12/6 ~ Holiday Lights at Gilroy Gardens. We actually liked Santa this year (no tears!)
