November 27 ~ Syd didn't nap this morning. I thought it was because of teething. I didn't think to check her diaper (she had already pooped twice this morning). But guess what? It's not 11am yet and 3 poopy diapers. Poor baby. Twins Group. They had a blast. They crawled around everywhere. Playing with other babies and their toys. They loved having all that room to roam. A little difficult getting them down for afternoon nap. Syd was beyond overtired. But atleast they took a short nap. We went for a short outing to the grocery store. I did the evening routine solo and got them to bed early. It went surprisingly well (especially compared to last night!).
November 26 ~ More poop than ever! Must be the solid table foods. (and Sydney teething). They poop overnight now too. Mike *loves* waking up to 2 poopy diapers at 7am. They HATE the big tub. We've tried several different scenerios, but they scream bloody murder. Back to the kitchen sink! After the chaos of baths, Sydney exploded all over me and Samantha right before bed. Huge projectile vomit. All 3 of us had to change all of our clothes.
November 25 ~ Dinner out. The girls tried fish for the first time and LOVED it. Our little dinosaur Sydneysaurus makes loud and interesting sounds.
November 24 ~ Lots of crawling and babbling. Rocky afternoon (naps disrupted by alot of poopy diapers). Good evening (quick outing, yummy leftovers and many giggles). Giving baths in the bathtub now (they're getting too big for the kitchen sink). We can't feed them on boppies on the couch anymore (too mobile). Highchairs are the only way to keep them strapped in. We went to the petstore today (dog & cat food, etc). The girls looked at the fish, birds and rodent critters. They were most interested in the white bunny. Sydney is sitting up just fine. Less arching. Generally a happier baby now that she's back on all 3 doses of the Zegerid. Syd's lower right tooth is getting closer to pushing through those sore little gums. Samantha is trying to sing along to Old MacDonald's EIEIO. Especially the "O" part. They are so giggly and snuggly. We fear the hugs will be harder to come by soon. They are getting so mobile. They are growing up so fast!
November 23 ~ Happy Thanksgiving! Lots of play, good naps, walk before dinner with Bailey. All of us together for dinner (not easy to feed babies while trying to eat your own food before it gets cold). The girls LOVE turkey. They've had it a few times before, but they really gobbled it up today.
November 22 ~ Mike took a vacation day. We had brunch at Stacks restaurant. Sam and Syd enjoyed their first official meal at a restaurant. They shared a pancake with banana & wheat germ.
November 21 ~ The girls and I went grocery shopping today. Sam lounged in the cart. I carried Sydney in the BabyBjorn. Shopping during thanksgiving week is stressful. Shopping with 2 babies during thanksgiving week is EXHAUSTING. It's amazing how the holidays bring out the WORST in people. Everyone is so busy rushing around they forget to be kind or considerate. Instead they are down right rude and obnoxious. Now begins my annual tradition of avoiding stores from now until the New Year (Isn't online shopping THE BEST!?!). I guess we'll have to make one exception this year.... Going to the mall to see Santa.
November 20 ~ BabiesRUs outing. It's a Manic Mommy Monday again. The girls are having a really rough time going to sleep. Both wanted more formula. Sam had a poopy diaper. Sam would rather sit up in her crib than sleep. Syd is doing alot of screaming. Maybe teething? I gave her some baby motrin and teething tablets. Finally starting to calm down. It's after 7:30 and I have no idea what I'm having for dinner. Sorry, no picture updates today. Maybe I'll have some time tomorrow. Gotta check on the girls again..........
November 18 ~ They can crawl! Both Sam & Syd learned to crawl forward on the same day. See them crawl on the latest video here or on dropshots.
November 17 ~ Pediatrician appt for 9 month checkup plus flu shots. Sam's stats: 18 pounds 12 ounces. 28 1/4" tall. Syd's stats: 19 pounds. 27 3/4" tall. They are slightly behind the milestone "curve" based on their actual age. But they are on target for their adjusted age (since they were born 5 weeks early). Dr. Wall is not overly concerned at this time, but there is an issue with Sydney that we are going to monitor. She occasionally arches her back and straightens out her legs, refusing to sit. Most of the time, Sydney sits just fine. Dr. Wall thinks that there are 3 possible reasons for this: 1. She is learning to stand and prefers that to sitting. 2. She sometimes feels reflux pain in a sitting position. (this seems likely, because we recently tried to reduce her reflux medication to see if she could get off of it). 3. Possible mild cerebral palsy and/or spastic issues. This is unlikely because this behavior is intermittant. But he wants to see her in 4 weeks to reavaluate. If issues continue or worsen, we'll meet with Pediatric Neurologist at Packard. Most likely it's a combination of 1 and 2. Again, there is no great concern at this time. It is just being monitored and we'll find out more at the December doctor appt. We've decreased Sam's Zegerid reflux med to twice per day. Syd will remain on 3x per day for awhile. Gradually we will reduce their meds since they will hopefully outgrow the reflux and spitting up. Appt scheduled for Dec 15 to check Syd. Also, both girls need their 2nd flu shot. Babies are given 2 flu shots (4 wks apart). Mom & Dad have already had their flu shots.
November 12 ~ Mommy escaped tonight to see a movie, "Stranger than Fiction". It was a much needed break and a good movie.
