October 25 ~ Babyproofing. Costco shopping. Samantha and Sydney make alot of noise in the new car. We think they are a little bored. They can't see out the back window anymore. Trying to find safe and entertaining toys for the car.
October 24 ~ Photo session in Half Moon Bay with the photographer (from our wedding). I can't wait to see the pictures! One of my favorite things about our minivan: navigation! No more maps, confusion or getting lost.
October 23 ~ Sam & Syd are "crawling" backwards. They can both lift up their little bodies. And they slide backwards. I think they are going to learn to crawl very soon. Mike is rushing to get the baby proofing started. (never enough time!) I'm panicking. They are going to be SO much more work (physical). 2 curious babies scurrying in different directions. Yikes! Big red balloon (from the car dealer) is THE best toy ever. The girls didn't want a minivan, just a balloon. They giggled like crazy over this balloon for 2 days. Pumpkin patch visit was not their favorite experience. Now that they are getting mobile, they complain about being strapped down or contained (carseats, stroller, crib, playpen).
October 20 ~ Mike's vacation starts tonight! He is taking 1 week off to spend time together and have a much needed break from work. Afternoon at Kohl's. The girls and I spent the entire afternoon at the store. Including diaper changes, bottles and a nap. It was quite an adventure. I started Christmas shopping too!
October 18 ~ Picture this: Mommy shopping with 2 babies. First baby is secured into shopping cart. Second baby is in baby bjorn carrier on Mommy's chest. The girls thought it was fun - they could look straight at each other the whole time. I thought it was exhausting. The general public was amazed and confused. A bit of a freak show. People actually slowed down their cars to point and stare.
October 16 ~ Eight month update. Samantha: Thumbsucker. Loves to play with and suck on her feet. Improved sitting. Still spitting up though. Loves to smile and giggle. Likes to sleep late in the morning. Giggles the most at her sister. Loves the Jumperoo. While lying on her tummy, she puts her arms back. We think she wants to fly. Super Sam! Sydney: Doesn't like to sit anymore. I don't know why, but she keeps sliding back down. I think she might be developing an interest in standing. Consistently eats more than her sister. And poops twice as much! Giggles the most at Bailey. Prefers the Exersaucer. While lying on tummy, does pushups. Both babies: Giggling is contagious. Babble, babble, babble! Very mobile in the crib. Love the Gerber puffs. Squirmy during diaper changes. Holding their bottles (some of the time). Much to our dismay, love to blow *raspberries* at us during meal time.
October 15 ~ National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day www.october15th.com Remembering Parker & Walker. We said goodbye 2 years ago (ironically it was Oct 15). They will always be a part of our family. Today, Samantha and Sydney joined us in releasing 2 blue balloons in memory of their brothers (their guardian angels). Tonight, we lit candles for them. Please support the Twin to Twin Foundation http://www.tttsfoundation.org/. In honor of our TTTS angels - Parker and Walker. And our TTTS survivors - Samantha and Sydney.
Oct 9 ~ It's been a difficult day. Have I mentioned how much I hate Mondays? Sam wouldn't eat this morning. Syd is eating too much. I had to wake them from nap (never a good idea) to take them to twins group. They don't eat enough at group because they are too busy. Syd projectile vomitted today all over me and the couch. They were fussy all afternoon. They weren't hungry for solids. The whole day has been "off". They accidentally bonked heads and screamed! Now they won't fall asleep (rarely a problem in the evening). Mike still isn't home yet. I'm hot and dizzy. Going to check on the girls again......
October 8 ~ Sam & Syd went with us today on our first "shopping trip" for minivans. The girls play with alot of toys now. "Play" is defined as putting EVERY thing in their mouths. Still no signs of teeth. Plenty of drool, chin rashes and chewing.
October 6 ~ The problem with bad naps (besides being cranky)... They fall asleep during the bedtime bottle and don't drink enough to get through the night. We've had 2 "dream feeds" this week because they woke up. Sydney is consistently drinking more than her sister. We've decided to increase her bottles and encourage her to eat more solids. Our Pediatrician advised waiting until 9 months to start finger foods at lunchtime. We still have only 2 solid meals per day: breakfast (cereal with fruit and juice) and dinner (veggies and fruit). They've had some mushed turkey and chicken from the baby food jars. They LOVE sweet potato veggie puffs (gerber snacks that melt in their mouth).
