October 1 ~ Sydney went grocery shopping with Mommy. Samantha went for a walk with Daddy & Bailey. Later, we walked to the Belmont Festival. We are all exhausted and still much to finish tonight (dishwasher, paying bills, etc). Sydney is spitting up less. The theory is that as babies learn to sit... they strengthen and the spitting up diminishes. I still think she has some pain, so we'll keep her on meds for awhile. Samantha is still spitting up... but part of it is her newest activity.... She loves to rock forward and backward (while sitting on your lap, in the stroller or highchair, etc). It's a variation on the jumperoo... her favorite activity. Also, we've noticed the jumperoo seems to help her poo. I guess we don't need the prunes anymore. Why didn't anyone tell me a main part of my job description would be changing poopy diapers all day long?! It doesn't help that I have a very strong sense of smell. I can smell those stinkies from across the room.
September 22 ~ Happy 50th Anniversary to Sam & Syd's Great Grandparents. We love you Granny & Grandpap! Congratulations! The girls and I went on a trip to Costco. We had alot to purchase, so no room for a stroller in the car. Also, not enough room in the shopping cart for infant car seats. So for the first time, the girls sat up front in a shopping cart. Fortunately, Costco has BIG shopping carts with room for 2 kids upfront. I padded the seats with blankets and strapped 'em in. They had a good time. We got quite a bit of attention. And I'm thoroughly exhausted. The hardest part was getting the babies and all that stuff shoved into the car. Anybody wanna buy me a minivan? ;-) Most people were nice. However, some obnoxious woman asked me "Are they a blessing or a curse?" I wanted to smack her. Does she honestly think I'm going to tell her that my children are curses?!? People don't use their brains.
September 19 ~ We have a sitter! Go to the videos to see Sydney sit up unassisted. More photos and stories coming soon. I'm exhausted tonight.
September 18 ~ Syd is bigger than Sam?!?! How can that be? We had a GI specialist appt today for their reflux. Sam weighs 17.3 and Syd 17.6 ! Sam still feels heavier to me. Where did my itty bitty Sydney go? The appt went fine. Their spitup (and pain) is improving. But the Drs think the Zegerid dosage is too high. We are going to give 2 x daily now (instead of 3). Which makes it much easier for everybody. They are taking a long nap this afternoon. Tuckered out from their appt this morning. I better get some more laundry done before they wake.
September 16 ~ The best napping day ever! 2 hours for AM nap. 1.5 hours for PM nap. Didn't need the 3rd nap. Woohoo! The girls have been doing so great eating their solids at dinner, that they often don't drink much of their bedtime bottles. Tonight, we spaced out the evening routine: solids, 30 min DVD, baths, bedtime bottle. Sydney drank all 9 ounces and then slept through the night! This is the first time in days (since she started rolling onto tummy) that she slept thru. Yeah!
September 16 ~ Tonight Daddy took us out for Lobster and blueberry pie. Yum! The girls looked jealous. They had spinach & carrots and blueberries for dinner. Everyday, they are getting stronger with their bottles, rolling and sitting. They are doing great!
September 14 ~ Sydney cried and screamed for much of last night. She'd roll onto her tummy and then scream. Mike changed her diaper and tried to soothe her repeatedly. It was a rough night. Sam slept through most of the chaos. For naps today, we put Syd down on her tummy. Hopefully this will help her learn to sleep on her tummy comfortably. And not freak when she wakes up in that position. She actually napped better today than she has in awhile. (of course, she's utterly exhausted from all that partying with Dad all night!) Hopefully, tummy sleeping will make her a better sleeper. Today, we had our first playdate... with Shannon and her identical twin girls Maya and Gracie. They also had TTTS. It was a fun, busy and loud afternoon. I think Sydney was trying to be the loudest of them all. Sydney is getting better at holding her bottle. She can even pull it out and put in back in her mouth on her own. All those pushups she does are really strengthening her arms! Tonight, I'm doing what I normally do to wind down and destress - computer and then a nice warm bath. Mike is unwinding in a completely different way. He is outside (in the pitch dark) digging up the part of the front lawn (dead grass). ;-0
September 13 ~ Sydney can definetly roll from back to tummy now. But she's only done it alone in her crib. I've yet to actually see her do it in front of me. Of course, now we have to get thru this transitional period... She can roll onto her tummy but hasn't learned to sleep in that position. So she screams until I rescue her. They are getting stronger with holding their bottles and getting closer to sitting up unassisted. We've been practicing all of these things frequently. I'm sure eventually they'd do it on their own. But us "teaching" and encouraging them is helping alot. They are still having issues with short naps. I'm trying to find the ideal time to put them down. But I'm not sure if that matters much. There is a fine line btwn not sleepy and overtired.
September 11 ~ Twins Meeting today. My first official meeting as co-coordinator. It was fun and exhausting! The girls were the life of the party giggling and squealing. Sam & Syd were the oldest kids there. I can't believe they are almost 7 months old! Sydney rolled over onto her tummy for the first time! But I didn't actually see her do it. She was supposed to be napping in the crib. I looked at the video monitor and there she was on her tummy. Both girls very briefly held their bottles tonight. Mike is working late. I had the girls asleep in the cribs by 6:15pm. (they didn't nap much today, so I moved bedtime earlier.)
September 10 ~ Mike has to work this Sunday :-( Block party planned for this afternoon. Mike got home to early enough to enjoy some of the block party. The girls have 2 baby neighbors (Isabella 1 month & Kai 6 months). And we have 2 more pregnant women on our block. (Each mom is expecting her third child!)
