August 19 ~ Samantha started the day screaming at 5:30am.  Daddy tended to Sam and they both went back to sleep.  Sydney and Mommy weren't so lucky and began their day way too early.

Stroll to park with Bailey dog.  Great naps today!!!!  Mike took all of us out for an early dinner.  The girls sampled spinach for the first time.  Not a favorite food!

Our current favorite book is "I know a rhino".  It's a very cute little story of a little girl and her stuffed animals.  I sit in the big chair with both girls on my lap and read to them.  We read before naps.  Since the girls weren't oversleepy at bedtime, we enjoyed a quick story before going down in the cribs.  Another addition to the bedtime routine.

It's too soon to be sure...  but I'm hopeful that the new med is helping.

August 18 ~  I put a blanket on the front lawn this afternoon.  Me, Sam, Syd, Bailey and Jasper all hung out watching the leaves blowing in the breeze.

New medicine for reflux called Zegerid which we mix with Maloxx.  Administered 3 times per day.  Sam & Syd both endured reflux pain today.  Hopefully the new med will help.

August 17 ~ Pediatrician appointment.  The girls are sore from shots.  Hopefully they'll nap most of the day.

Samantha weighs 16 pounds 11 ounces.  She's 25 1/4 inches tall.

Sydney weighs 16 pounds 10 ounces.  She's 25 1/2 inches tall.  Sydney caught up to her sister thanks to those solids she loves so much!

I'm waiting to hear back from the Dr about a new reflux treatment for them.  Everytime we see him, he "jokes" about hiring me.  I guess he's impressed with my research and knowledge.  Much of that is thanks to the internet!  Now he's doing his research and hopefully I'll hear back from him today.

August 16 ~ Sydney is having more reflux pain and arching her back alot.  I did some research and discovered that many of the reflux meds that are mixed by the pharmacy only remain stable for 5 days.  No wonder she's in pain.  Her meds haven't been working for 2 weeks.  Samantha is in less pain.  But they both need a new treatment plan.  Spitup still 30-40 times per day (each baby).

August 15 ~ After a very long and fussy morning (and a mommy meltdown)....  Syd and Sam finally had a good long nap this afternoon.  Almost 3 hours (with a few wakeups and fussies).  We took a stroll to the plaza and park this afternoon.

I constantly get asked "girl and boy?"  People are either stupid and/or blind.  Pink and purple clothes.  Pink stroller.  What do you think?

Actually, I think I get that alot because I don't dress them identically.  I think most people assume that twins should be dressed the same.

Check out the new peaches videos!

August 14 ~ Twins group meeting today.  In September, I'll become coordinator for the meeting.  The responsibility will last only until February when the girls turn 1.  I'm sharing the job with Anne (mom to boy/girl twins Rory and Kaitlyn).

I stopped at Babies R Us.  It's almost time to invest in new car seats.  I was worried they wouldn't fit in my car.  (with 2 babies each car seat needs to sit directly behind the front seats.  Most people with cars put the seat in the center of the backseat so it will fit.)  Thankfully, it looks like they'll fit.  Now I'm looking for a good bargain online.  Britax Marathon - they are the highest rated in safety.

The girls didn't nap well again.  I moved their bedtime earlier, but they woke up 45 minutes later and fussed for over 30 minutes before finally going back to sleep.

August 13 ~ Samantha & Sydney are 6 months old!!!  We went to a book store today and purchased some new baby books.  "That's not my ____" are our current favorites.  We have dolly, puppy, bunny and dragon.

The girls didn't nap this afternoon.  We moved bedtime up to 6pm.  Hopefully they sleep until 6am or Monday is going to be the longest day ever.

August 11 ~ Sydney giggles whenever Bailey comes near.  It's adorable!

August 10 ~ We have chins with little prickly red bumps.  Apparently it's caused by drooling from teething.  I've seen drool and bumps, but I don't feel anything new on the gums.

Wow!  They were starving for dinner tonight.  They ate 4 jars of baby food (carrots, winter squash, pears and apples/bananas).  Yum!  So far they like everything.  Pears are the favorite and Peas are the least popular.

Syd LOVES to eat.  She's barely messy because almost every morsel goes into that little mouth.  She babbles and practically begs for me.  She opens up her mouth every time she sees that spoon (even if the spoon is heading for Sam).

Sam prefers to play with her food.  She thinks she's helping by putting her hands in her mouth while you are trying to spoon feed her.  So instead of the food going into her mouth - it's up her nose, on her eyes, behind her ears, stuck in her neck, smeared all over her body and the highchair.  She has so much fun!  You can tell when Sam is really hungry because she opens her mouth more and plays a little less.

We went to a toy store and drug store today.   Many aisles are too crowded and narrow for our beautiful double stroller.  The stroller fits perfectly through doors, but I can't navigate it around alot of the stores.

August 9 ~ Naps are getting slightly better (atleast they aren't screaming as much!)

August 8 ~ Samantha napped on her tummy this morning for the first time.

The girls are sleeping great at night!  But they are fighting naps during the day.  They spend most of the day crying and screaming to fall asleep.  Then crying and screaming upon waking because they didn't sleep long enough.  Two overtired and cranky babies!  They are too tired to play and too cranky to fall (and stay) asleep.

Actually, the worst part is knowing what happy babies they could be if they'd just get some quality rest.  They smile and giggle so much more when they aren't overtired.

Carrots!

August 7 ~ The girls have a new neighbor and friend...

Emily, Fabio and Alessandro are delighted to announce the birth of Isabella Rosa.  Isabella was born at 10.01 on August 7 2003 in Redwood City.  Both Isabella and her mom are doing very well.

Isabella weighs 7.5 lbs and she's 20 in tall -- she's met her older brother Alex and they've already started a life long relationship making faces to each other.

August 6 ~ Sam & Syd slept 12 hours last night!  They aren't napping very well during the day mostly because we are trying to give up the swings.  Now that Samantha is rolling over, I'm worried she's going to fall out.  Plus the "experts" claim that motion sleep isn't quality sleep.  They need to learn to nap better (FALL and STAY asleep in the cribs).

August 5 ~ Rearranged the nursery.  Assembled 2nd crib.  Moved the swings out.  Trying to give up the swings for naptime.

Rearranging their schedule (again).  It looks like I'm giving up our daily outing :-( until they learn to nap better in the morning.  Then we'll see if we can put adventures back in the schedule.

The girls are laughing and playing more.  They are SO MUCH fun!

August 4 ~  Time to move up to Size 3 diapers!

They slept in until almost 7am this morning.  Didn't nap long in the morning.  Napped for over 2 hours around noon (our usual outing time).  Trip to Costco and quick dinner out. Skipped a bottle today because of the changes.  They ate a new record amount of cereal and fruits & veggies.  Yum!  I guess I'll be changing the schedule/routine again soon.

They are fussing, playing & screeching in the crib.  They aren't hungry.  Hopefully they go to sleep soon.

The goals: Keep them in the crib from 7pm-7am.  3 naps per day (2 long naps and 1 catnap).

August 3 ~ Samantha rolled over today from her back onto her tummy.  And I missed it!  I went to the bathroom and when I came back - there she was looking up at me.

August 2 ~ Samantha is working very hard at trying to rollover from back onto tummy.  She stays up "practicing" in the crib well past her bedtime.
