July 30 ~ All of us had a good night sleep!

Very full day.  Storytime with Daddy.  Play with Sister.  Twins Club Picnic.  More Playtime.  (and a bunch of formula, pears, sweet potatoes, bananas and oatmeal).

The MPPOM (Mid Peninsula Parents of Multiples) group hosted a summer picnic today.  The girls had a great time watching all the other babies.  We sat with 5 other families (all girls except one pair of boys).  I've met most of the moms at the bi-monthly first year meeting.  It was great for Mike to see all the babies and talk with other parents.  Seeing other babies makes us realize just how healthy and chubby our girls really are!

Sydney was so smiley and happy today thanks to a great nights sleep and a good morning nap.  Then came the afternoon nap - lots of screaming.

We are trying to transitition them from naps in swings to naps in the crib.  Partly because it's better for their quality of sleep.  Partly because the sooner we can graduate from the swings, the more room we'll have to setup the 2nd crib.  Which will be needed soon.  BIG baby girls!

July 29 ~ Sydney LOVES Pears!

We had hoped that introducing solids would help with the reflux/spitups.  Instead they are now spitting up sweet potatoes.  YUK!

The pediatrician prescribed a new reflux medicine (Prilosec) to replace the Zantac and hopefully improve the spitting up.

July 25 ~ Mike came home for lunch.  The girls had their first taste of Sweet Potatos and LOVED it.

Thankfully, the weather has cooled slightly.  Sam & Syd actually cooperated and were asleep by 8pm for me!  Mike is at the Red Sox game in Oakland.

July 24 ~ It's still HOT and the girls had a rough time getting to sleep.

July 23 ~ They tried bananas for the first time.  They seem to be bored with cereals.  They prefer oatmeal (over rice or multigrain).  I mixed bananas into their oatmeal.  They also ate the bananas solo.  Not sure if they really like it.  I feel like maybe they should be eating better with the solid foods at this point.  Maybe it'll just take a little more time.

The girls are really cranky.  It could be the heat.  I suspect they are both starting to teethe.  I can't feel anything on their gums yet, but they are chewing on everything.  So far, wet/cold washcloths are their preferred teething "toy".  I ordered some teether toys today (since I won't be out shopping for awhile).

Mike no longer thinks I'm exaggerating about the difficult week.  Their schedule and naps are wacky today.  We are all so tired...........  and I'm dreading the long Monday and Tuesday ahead.  Mike will be gone on Monday from 8am-8pm.  Tuesday he'll be gone from 6:30am to midnight.  Lucky Mike is going to the Red Sox game on Tuesday.  I'll be stuck in the house with 2 fussy babies all week.

July 22 ~ Like most of the country, it's been unbearably hot here.  Thank goodness we invested in central AC last year.

We made the mistake of going out to lunch and to Babies R Us today.  It's just too hot to take the babies in the car.  And it's too sunny and hot to go for walks.  I fear we are going to be under house arrest until the heat wave subsides.

It's been a long and hot week.  For the first time all week, the girls napped well today.  Mike suspects I'm exaggerating about them being difficult while he's at work.

July 18 ~  See the Munch photos at 2, 4 and 5 months.  Our growing girls will be standing in front of that giraffe height chart before we know it.

July 17 ~ For those of you under the delusion that I'm superwoman...  The everchanging designs on this website are free templates from babyhomepages.net.

But 99% of the photos and stories are written by me.  So I guess I'm kinda super after all.  (Yes, I'm feeling overtired and silly).

July 16 ~ The kitty and bunny towels were a gift from our friend Karen and her family.  Aren't they adorable and silly?!  The girls may roll their eyes some day over all these photos, but we sure are having fun!

July 15 ~ Sandy babysat the twins.  We went to a movie.  The girls didn't nap much this afternoon.  Not unexpected since it was a different kind of day for them.  We tried taking them for a drive to nap, didn't work.  We sped thru their evening routine, hoping that they'd go to bed early to avoid overtired and cranky babies.

We thought they were asleep at 7:15pm.  Syd was soon wide awake and then woke up her sister.  Not sleepy, not hungry, did I mention not sleepy?  We sure are sleepy - why aren't they?  Anyway, it's 9pm and not asleep yet.......

July 14 ~ Melanie & Mike's 5 year wedding Anniversary!  Tonight we are having "fancy" takeout.  Tomorrow our friend & neighbor Sandy (who is a nanny) will babysit for us while we go to see the Pirates movie.

July 13 ~ Five months old!  Celebrating their Similarities and Differences...

Similarities:  Love to cuddle with each other.  Prefer playing without socks OR clothes.  Laugh, giggle, smile and babble.

Differences:  Sydney has more (and darker) hair.  Samantha still has both her birthmarks (elbow - which we think will stay, back - which will probably fade away).  Syd is our early bird who wakes everyone in the house.  Sam likes tummy time better than her sister.  Syd is a daddy's girl.  Well, Sam is a daddy's girl too, but Sam isn't quite as clingy with Dad.

July 10 ~ Sam & Syd started off the day by sleeping until almost 6am!  I was unable to get to the twins meeting on time.  The timing doesn't work well with our current schedule.  Instead enjoyed lunch with Susie & Max at the mall.  The girls were a fussy during their afternoon naps so I didn't get any breaks.  We had a smooth evening on our own.

Sam does pretty well with the spoon.  Sydney usually spits the cereal right back out.  I've learned they eat more if I let them suck on their hands.  It's a messy process and they don't actually eat much yet, but it's fun.  I prefer to give baths in the kitchen sink.  They are getting heavy to lift out of the tub!  Mike came home around 8 and got them quickly and quietly into the crib.  Finally dinner and bedtime for us.

July 9 ~ Beautiful Morning!  The girls fussed a bit this morning.  Overall, they did wonderful!  We had 2 very happy smiley babies at 6am (and 2 not completely sleeped deprived parents).

Outing to Stanford Shopping Mall.

Sam is overtired this evening.  They'll finish their feed soon and hopefully we'll have another good night.

Sadly for all of us, Daddy has to return to work tomorrow morning.  I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to manage tomorrow alone (cereal feeds, twins meeting, baths, etc).  It was so nice having both of us here this week.

July 8 ~ Great night!  Sam & Syd went off to dreamland quickly and stayed blissfully asleep in their crib for most of the night.

July 8 ~ We skipped the dream feed last night.  The girls fussed from 3:30am-6am.  Not hungry yet, but still not staying sleepy in those early morning hours.  We are trying a new schedule that goes something like this: 6am Bottle, Play, 8-10 Nap, 10 Cereal & Bottle, 11-1:30 Outing (catnaps), 2pm Bottle, 2:30-4:30 Nap, 5 Bottle, Play, 6:30 Cereal, 7 Bath, 7:30 Bottle, 8:30 Crib.  (lengthening time btwn feeds, adding solid feeds, increasing the size of their bottles, dropping the dreamfeed).

Since the girls are growing too tall for the current sleeping arrangements... We are trying new positions in the crib tonight.  Like this:

We are trying to keep them together as long as possible.  1. to save space in the nursery.  2. because they LOVE snuggling at night.  Someday soon we'll need to assemble the 2nd crib.

July 7 ~ They won't go to sleep!  Usually babies this age will only stay awake for 3 hours at a time.  Our girls have been awake since 4:30pm.  It's now 9:30pm.  They don't even seem overtired.  They are hungry and giggly.  Sam gobbled up alot of oatmeal today.  Sydney not as interested in the cereal (atleast not eating it, but loves to play in it)...  Syd ate over 40 oz of formula today.  I guess it's another growth spurt.  I guess we are dropping the dream feed because there is no point in waking them at 11pm.  Crazy  little BIG babies!

July 7 ~ First taste of Oatmeal Cereal.  The girls seem to like it better than rice cereal.  Target shopping.
