March 30 ~ Apologies for the long delay in updating the site. It's been a hectic 2 weeks - Syd's surgery, both girls had a intestinal virus (and gave it to me) and my cold/cough. Also, the grandparents sleeping/napping in our office/den meant no computer access. I'll try to update pictures and stories this weekend.
March 26 ~ Announcement from our friends! Congrats Aiko, Yasu and Kai!
"We are proud to announce arrival of Kai Joshua Nishida. He was born
March 16 ~ Sydney is home! We are all beyond exhausted. Thank goodness Tracy will be here tonight. Happy 39th Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa!
March 15 ~ Sydney was admitted to Packard/Stanford on Tuesday. She had surgery for Pyloric stenosis today. Here's an article explaining the condition and surgery. http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/digestive/pyloric_stenosis.html She is recovering well. We hope to bring her home on Thursday or Friday. More info asap. Grandma, Grandpa and Great-Grandma arrived safely this morning.
March 14 ~ Mike's first day back at work. Sydney spent the day projectile vomitting and becoming dehydrated. Thx to Christa & Lilly for so much help this week. Thx to the Sue (from our local twins club) for a fantastic dinner.
March 11 ~ Mike is scheduled to return to work on Monday. Grandma, Grandpa and Great-Grandma (Mike's family) are arriving on Wednesday for a 2 week visit! Our next pediatrician appts are March 17 and April 17. A few new photos added today. When I upload photos here, I will try to promptly upload the same photos to Snapfish.com.
March 10 ~ Appointment with Pediatrician. Sydney had acceptable weight gain. She is now 5 pounds 9 ounces. The Dr prescribed Zantac to help her reflux. It will probably be a few days before taking effect. They tested their blood also. Syd is still anemic so we'll continue the vitamins and iron. Unfortunately, those upset her tummy so it'll be a delicate balancing act to keep some food in her. Samantha is weighing in at 7 pounds! Way to go Sam! Sam & Syd wore the cutest little sleepers today from Granny. Unfortunately, Syd spit up on both of them before we had a chance to take their pictures. Sam was very upset with her sister!
March 5, 06 ~ Our snapfish.com account is active. If you are interested in access (to order prints or see videos), please send me an email.
March 3, 06 ~ Our first baths at home. Bathing 2 squirmy newborn babies is a wonderful challenge! They both enjoy having their hair washed and brushed. We removed their ankle bracelets. Good thing that Samantha has a birthmark. Their cries and coos are very similar. We are just beginning to learn their different cries (hungry, gassy, wet, etc). Many times we have to look to figure out who is squawking. A few times, they've cried identically in stereo surround sound. They were screaming while Mike & I giggled and marveled while trying to calm them. They LOVE to snuggle together. Every time we try to move them apart in the crib, moments later they are entwined again. Sydney is always turning towards her sister. So we have to switch their positions so little Syd isn't always facing the same direction. Of course, this is bound to create some confusion for us since so far we had kept Sam on the left. I'd love to chat more but it's...... Time to make the bottles and begin another feeding..........
March 2, 06 ~ Our first appointment with our family Pediatrician. The girls both had great weight gains! Samantha is 5 pounds 15 ounces. Sydney is 5 pounds 3 ounces. We are so relieved that they are eating so well at home. We have a followup appt scheduled for next Friday. This was our first outing with the girls and we arrived on time! Thankfully, our doctor's office is a very short drive. The girls don't exactly love being strapped down in those car seats.
March 1, 06 ~ We've hired a wonderful woman named Tracy to help us care for the babies 3 nights per week. We are sharing her with another twin mom from our multiples group. Tracy has many years of experience as a nanny and doula. She comes highly recommended and has worked with twins several times. She has already helped us with advice about bottles, crib bedding, feedings, etc. She's great with the girls. And we get some quality sleep 3x per week! Our local multiples group is fantastic. http://www.mppom.homestead.com/Index.html They offer a variety of services (support meetings, events, sales, activities, etc). They even dropped off a bag of preemie clothing to borrow.
