Mike's company has re-organized and he has a new job. Congrats Daddy! Hopefully that'll mean a raise eventually. Don't ya love "promotions"? I'm still having dizziness issues. I.C. is still a bother too. We all had colds for about 2 wks. Trying to get rest when the girls are at daycare. Sydney & Samantha are doing great. Learning many, many words! Learning colors, some letters and numbers. Of course, there are many words that are still difficult to decipher and translate. They ate ALOT yesterday. Perhaps another growth spurt?! We aren't getting outside much with the rain. Lots of indoor play and book reading. They've been having a great time at daycare. Little Hands classes begin again this week after the holiday break. I can't believe they'll be 2 yrs old next month!
(Many thanks to Syd & Sam for taking a nice long quiet nap so mommy had time to edit and upload all those photos. phew! Daddy has videos to upload, but he's napping too.)
December 20 ~ Happy Birthday Mommy! December 18 ~ Happy Birthday Great Granny
The big obsession is "color". Coloring of any kind (crayons, chalk, markers, aquadoodle, etc). They wake up and almost immediately ask to color. Especially Syd. They fight over sharing crayons, etc. Today at daycare, there were battles with the etchasketch type pad. Vocabulary and phrases are growing daily. A few words have digressed, somehow "book" has turned into something that doesn't sound like "book". They are demanding and challenging. Very energetic. They've learned to hop/jump. Love jumping on this extra mattress that we keep meaning to get rid of, but they have so much fun on! Gaining better skills for climbing, etc. Occasionally demand to go "outside" (usually to side yard). They are still eating most healthy foods and rarely get treats. Syd LOVES satsuma mandarin oranges (just like her mommy) which probably are a little irritating for her reflux (and mommy's bladder). They demand their "smoothies". They stopped drinking plain milk awhile ago, so I started mixing in small amounts of yogurt drinks and calling them smoothies. I can't even figure out how they pronounce it because it doesn't sound like they are saying "smoothie", but that's what they want. Pretty challenging to translate toddler speak. They have several words/phrases that we still can't decipher.
We'll try to attend Little Hands today. Speaker event tonight at LH (author/parent of twins, etc). Busy, crazy week ahead! November 12 ~ Daycare. FCE for Mom.
Play in the side yard. Hang out with Dad while Mom goes out for dinner with a friend. Sam went to the pool w/ Dad. Syd & I stayed home. We played with a new shapes/color wooden chunky puzzles. We also did "arts & crafts": Paint with water Tigger & Pooh and crayons. Syd loves to "color". Sam came home and wanted to color too, but she eats the crayons more than she draws with them. Usual wknd chores like bills, laundry, errands, etc.
They have several books memorized (where the duck is on every page, to stretch like a tiger (on the page before I flip), which pages have bubbles (a favorite item).) Moo Baa La La La is completely memorized. They love to say Moo, aaa (baa), ra ra ra (lalala), Quack (which doesn't quite sound like a quack yet), ruff ruff ruff, bow wow wow, meow, neigh, etc. They are totally bored with some of the books that I love like "I know a Rhino". Naps are becoming a bigger problem. I knew this would happen when we introduced 2 x per wk daycare. They don't like to nap there (too much going on). But then they come home exhausted and cranky. They are supposed to nap from 12-3. It's getting pushed closer to 1-4, but often not falling alseep until 2 or later. Lots of playing and babbling. Then I wake them before 4 (because if I don't they'll be up way too late), they are Cranky!
With all the recent recalls on many, many toys.... Books, CDs and DVDs are preferred shopping items this year. (speaking of shopping... they are wearing size 2T tops already. And 12-18 month size pants. So combo outfits aren't working so well at the moment. Separates are always appreciated. I can always team cute tops with jeans or leggings. FYI leggings or straight leg pants are better than flare pants (that are tougher to roll up). Regarding toys, if it's a smaller type toy, consider buying 2 of the exact same. We have occasional battles.) This afternoon, naps were very rocky and then GRUMPY. Visit to the Chiropractor. Fun with Dad before bed.
books: Goodnight Moon and Moo Baa La La La phrases: bye bye toes, bye bye moon, my turn, all done, characters: pooh and tigger treats: Halloween cookies made by Ulla, Greta and Noelle toys: duck game from Grandpa, blocks toy from Sandy, Dog & Giraffe Loveys, ducks from Joanna,
