Remembering Bailey on her birthday. Mike returns to work tomorrow.
Samantha: 32.1 inches tall and 24 pounds 11 ounces Sydney: 32.4 inches tall and 24 pounds 9 ounces No shots because Syd had a temp of over 104 degrees. Blood work showed no bacteria. Only symptom is red throat (negative strep). She's lethargic and grumpy. 12 month stats were: Sam is 21.5 pounds and 29.5 inches. Syd is 22 pounds and 30 inches. (can't find the 15 month stats)
(we did another trial yesterday and it went well.) I've been the Neurologist who I'm frankly frustrated with. Looking for 2nd opinions. Went to a new Chiropractor today for evaluation. Hoping that might help. Still dizzy daily. Syd has a high temp today and somewhat lethargic. Hopefully the fever fights off whatever virus is brewing.
If successful, they'll go on Mondays and Wednesdays for full days (8-5). It'll begin after Labor Day. It's a small family home day care licensed and fully checked out (called the proper agencies to verify). Certified to have no more than 8 children (she says 6 max). Currently, while Sam & Syd are there they'll be 5 kids (including Sam & Syd) ranging from 11 - 22 months. Coincidentally all girls. And one of those little girls is our neighbor. I've talked with 2 moms about the daycare and provider. It's located close to our home. They have an open door policy for parents (we can show up unannounced at any time to visit/monitor/pickup). She provides healthy and mostly organic foods. They'll have breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks there. She's very loving, active, intelligent (speaks 5 languages) and quite strong. Her husband is there to assist when needed. Mike will drop them off in the morning on the way to work. I'll pick them up in the afternoon. My biggest concern is naptime. Will they nap there? Will it disrupt our nap routine at home the other 5 days per week? Currently they nap around noon for 2-3 hours. I really, really, really don't want to loose that nap for SO many reasons. Another concern is colds, etc. We are going to one of the smallest daycares around. The theory is: smaller, less kids, less sick! The primary reason for trying daycare is to allow me to have time to rest/recover and research my vertigo & dizziness problems. They'll be more drs, tests and hopefully treatments. Our goal is to get me healthier so I can have better quality time with the girls. (of course, there are a hundred other things to be done too, like laundry!) Plus it'll be good for the girls to be in a new environment, play with other kids, socialize, learn new things, etc. And hopefully some of the current quirky behavior will be calmed [have to have the same exact sippy cup as her sister (hers might be better), want the same exact toy, want to play with the same thing in the same area always (get them to branch out and separate a little bit will be healthy)]. *crosses fingers* that the day will go smoothly.
Words: mama, dada, go, no, tickle, wow, moo, juice, boo (as in peekaboo), duck, mouse, cat, dog, ball, more, uh oh, book, doll, (there are plenty of other words that they mimic but then forget for awhile).... Body parts: (point to and can say some of the words or atleast sound like part of the word) eye, ear, nose, chin, teeth, tongue, hair, head, fingers, toes, knee, elbow, belly button... Sign Language: eat, drink, hungry, thirsty, hurt, sleep, potty, more, ball, mom, dad... They love to point to or show things (toys, tub toys, books, body parts, etc) so that we'll say the word. They are also improving on climbing and getting down (couch, playground equipment, etc). They LOVE to dance.
First "arts & craft project": We gave them crayons, paper and stickers. Mostly the kitchen floor got colored and crayons eaten, but it was still fun. We've also been watching tv (little nemo, pooh & tigger, etc). Not a habit that we want to form, but good for sick days.
