Syd who appears to be feeling fine..... Has screamed for an hour at each attempt to put her down to sleep (nap, bedtime) for the past 2 days. I'm still having issues with vertigo and dizziness. The Drs aren't much help. I have to find some time to do more research and get 2nd opinions. We are looking for a part time nanny (hard to find the right person to trust, where do I go to attempt to rest during the nanny time?) or day care (they'll get sick alot, not as much attention). Neither option is great. Joanna may or may not be available to help us on a limited basis when her classes begin in the fall (it's complicated).
Syd went to the pool with Dad. Sam went to the Farmer's Market with Mom. Afternoon birthday party for 1 year old twins Maya & Ruthie!
Joanna is returning from Brazil this week. But she's not going to be available to work consistently for us once fall classes begin. So I'm looking for help.... never easy!
Crazy week!!!
The bad news: Still not sure why I'm having chronic dizziness and random sudden vertigo attacks. The Neurologist still suspects an imbalance with my nervous system. So I'm trying a 6 wk experiment with a medication and keeping a medical journal to track my symptoms.
I am still struggling to find a medical reason for my unpredictable vertigo attacks and daily dizziness. The Ear specialist has put me through multiple tests and my ears are fine (vertigo is usually inner ear related). I'm working with the Neurologist again. He suspects it's an issue with my nervous system (parasympathetic). Basically, he thinks I'm so overwhelmed, overstressed, overstimulated and exhausted that my body is going into fight or flight. Instead of passing out or fainting..... I'm experiencing a vertigo attack! I'm trying a new medication that may help. I'm seeing a primary Dr for a general physical and more blood work tomorrow (Jo will take the girls to music class). Next up will be a CAT scan and/or MRI. I won't have any solid answers for weeks or months. Let's just all hope that I don't have another unexpected attack while alone with the girls. Thank goodness that Jo doesn't leave for Brazil for 2 more weeks. We have her working extra hours (so that I can go to all these appts/tests and for me to rest).
May 21 ~ Mike got them the cutest kiddie pool for the yard. It's a frog! Today was warm enough to enjoy it. Jo and I had a blast watching the girls.... splash, play with toys, climb in and out, "swim", drink the water, etc. Thanks for the cute bathing suits and hats from Great Granny & Grandpap. Bailey is recovering nicely! The girls rarely sleep through the night. Mostly it's Sydney that wakes up (often before 6am) and wakes up the rest of us (who would all prefer to sleep in). I think the main culprit is Reflux. We had tried taking her off the Zegerid Med. Her reflux and pain worsened. She's back on the med and is in alot less pain. On hot nights, they wake for water. Some nights, they wake because of a diaper. Lately, they've had a cough (only when lying down). Other nights, I have no idea why! Except that Syd would much rather snuggle in Daddy's arms than sleep in her perfectly comfy crib.
May 20 ~ Mike took Sammy to the pool this week. I had special Mommy time with Sydney. We spent some time on the front lawn. However, Syd does NOT like when I hold her hand and try to walk with her on the sidewalk. So independent! In the afternoon, Mike took the girls to the Library's Park. Sam & Syd are fearless! Sam likes to climb and slide. Syd likes to run away from you (and keep going). Neither is that interested in swings right now (too confining).
May 15 ~ Yesterday was a long day. Bailey had emergency surgery for stomach twist/bloat and to remove her spleen. We brought her home tonight, but she's in pain and refusing to eat. We are doing are best to juggle caring for the girls and a very sick dog. We are both exhausted and overwhelmed. We predict a very stressful and sleepless night.
