May 13 ~ Happy Mother's Day! What do I want for Mothers Day? A massage (scheduled for 10am) and takeout dinner (no cooking or cleaning). Also, it'd be lovely if the girls slept until atleast 7am. And while I'm dreaming... maybe they'll take a long nap.... and go to bed on time.... all without a fuss? Oh, and can we have a tantrum free day?
May 12 ~ Been awhile since I've had the time or energy to update the website. The girls are walking... make that RUNNING around. They are sleeping less and very demanding. We are exhausted! Tantrums are beginning... when they get frustrated (not able to climb up on the couch), wanting individual attention (when there is only 1 of me and they each want to be held - and don't want sister being held at the same time!) and general grumpiness from not sleeping enough (which is mostly Syd's "fault" since she'd rather cry/scream/tantrum instead of sleep. We blame the reflux and wish that she could sleep more like her sister). Mike took Syd to the pool this morning. I took Sam to the park. This afternoon, the girls played outside with Daddy while Mommy went grocery shopping.
May 3 ~ The girls and I have colds that won't quit. *sniffle* *cough* *achoo* I'm tired of wiping snotty little faces. ;-0 Just when I thought my job couldn't get any more exhausting..... Sam & Syd are walking fast! Practically running around the house - and anywhere else I dare to let them be free. We are taking a break from swim classes. It's just too much for me to handle. (The classes are fun. It's all the "before and after" that is overwhelming.) But we have a plan to make sure the girls don't become fearful of the water. And at the same time do something really recommended for twins. Each wknd, Mike will take 1 of his energetic daughters to the pool. I will spend special time with the other daughter. This way they get individual time with each parent built into our schedule. Which the experts claim will help deter tantrums.
If the typical stay-at-home mother in the United States were paid for her
My paychecks must be lost in the mail!?!?!
May 2 ~ Jo & I took the girls today to purchase their first "real" shoes. They are so cute toddling around in their big girl shoes. They are so proud! And the ankle support really does help!
April 22 ~ The girls are having a few sleep issues. Several nights this week has been: delayed bedtime (crying, moaning, grunting) and/or awake (screaming) from 4-6am. It's mostly Sydney who is causing the trouble. But often she wakes up her sister. Syd just doesn't need as much sleep as Sam. At first, we thought the sleep disturbance was from taking Syd of the Zegerid reflux med. (She had a few vomits and seemed to be in pain). So we started her back on the med. Then we realized they are both teething. Infant Motrin only lasts 6-8 hours. Syd was waking up in pain. Poor bubbie! Our new strategy is to give them 1 dose of Motrin before dinner. Then give them another dose around midnight before Mike goes to bed. This has worked the past 2 nights. However, we've had other issues...... Delayed bedtime. 2 hours of stress last night. Tonight we put them down early - before the "overtired" phase. They aren't sleeping yet, but they aren't screaming either!
April 18 ~ Daddy got a break (afternoon out, frisbee and dinner with the guys). Jo helped me with the girls.
April 16 ~ Mommy tried to take the day off. I had a massage in the morning. A lunch date with Mike at our favorite restaurant. Jo helped Mike with the evening shift (while I went shoe shopping). Unfortunately, Syd had a fever. It was after 10pm by the time both girls were asleep. Yikes!
April 8 ~ More Easter....... Grandma watched Cas, Mel, Sam & Syd swim. Mike got a rare morning break. While the babies napped, we enjoyed a crepe brunch. When the girls woke, they had some food. Then it was time for the Easter Egg hunt and Swing Set fun. Next it was pretty picture time with their fancy Easter dresses from Grandma. For dinner, we enjoyed turkey, mashed potatos, carrots, stuffing, etc. The girls (especially Syd) loved Grandma's homemade soup. We're all exhausted!
