1-8-09  The start of a new year.  Well, he made it through the holidays, the boys got everything they could have possibly want and then some.  Christmas was fantastic with Noah.  He was so excited for Santa and to figure out how it all works.  We watched Christmas cartoons and movies, read Christmas books, drank cocoa, looked at lights and made cookies.  It was fun having G-Pop here for a week.  Noah helped him to make some new screens for the windows and doors.  We spent Christmas eve at home, barbequed steaks and played and waited for Santa.  On Christmas, we were all up early, except for Noah!  Finally we woke him up and got started.  We had breakfast and presents with G-Pop and then had to take him to the airport, then went to Nana's for dinner and presents.  It was an exhausting day!  Noah went 100mph all day.  It was hard to keep up with him and keep track of what everyone got.   It was wonderful and I can't wait for Cole to be old enough to be excited too.  This year he just walked around and ripped paper.

Now we are on to Noah's Birthday.  He turned 3 on Wednesday!  I can't believe it, where has the time gone?  He is getting so big!  On Sunday we are having a party for him at Chuck E. Cheese.  Uncle Ray and Kim are flying down to help us celebrate.  Noah can't wait to see him.

12-8-09   Busy times at the Garrin house!  Cole is now 9 months old and walking!!  He started crawling around 7 months and that didn't last long.  He was too anxious to keep up with Noah and Carson ( a little boy I babysit).  He loves to eat and will try anything, bananas are his favorite, but he also likes pancakes, chicken in a biscuit crackers, bread, pears, and chocolate! I know, I know!  Little tastes, of course.  He is one tough little man, trying to wrestle with daddy and Noah.  For the longest time he was stuck on just saying Daddy, but now he will say momma, nana, and what's that, which he got from Carson.  He is quite the little character and you just can't help but smile back when he does, with his cute little dimple!  He just had his 9 month visit and everything looks good!  He weighs 21 pounds and is 28.5" long, both in the 50% percentile.
Noah is growing like a weed!  He is getting so tall and smart, too smart sometimes.  I can't believe that he is going to be 3 in less than a month!  We are having challenges with tantrums and boundry pushing, sassing and back talk.  He still gets jealous of Cole and the other babies, but he's working on it.  He likes to play hide and seek with Cole by running around and giding behind him, he also thinks it's funny when Cole comes after him.  The other day he wanted to hold Cole, so he sat on the couch and I put Cole on his lap.  It only lasted a minute, but very sweet!  He likes to sing his ABCs and practice counting.  Still, his favorite thing is videos, and playing outside.  I think it's so funny that he is starting to tell "stories", he makes them up and they are silly, a great imagination!  He is getting so excited for Christmas!  Trying to figure out this Santa Claus guy and how it all works. He helped Nate put lights up outside and now wants to keep going outside to admire his work!  It's going to be a fun Christmas!!!!

9-10-09   Cole is 6 months old already and we can't believe it!  He is such a little character.  He sits by himself and tries to scoot, he is also able to face-plant and work his way back to a sitting position.  He wants to crawl and play with Noah so bad.  It won't be too long.  He is saying "Dada" and growling a lot, but no Momma yet.  Noah is such a good big brother, he has been trying to help me feed cole with a spoon and tries to get him to crawl to him.   He just went to the doctor and he weighs 18 lbs., 8ozs.  (75%) and is 17 in. long (75%).

7-25-09  "Yay for Potty Training!"  This came from Noah after going potty in the toilet.  Thanks to Chuck E. Cheese, Noah is pretty much potty-trained.  We have been working on it for quite awhile now and just hadn't found the right motivation.  Everyday on commercials between cartoons Noah sees the commercial for Chuck E. Cheese.  He always asks if he can go there and play.  Finally I told him that we can go if he starts going potty in the toilet.  He agreed and has been trying so hard.  So Friday we went to see Chuck and play.  He was so excited!  We spent close to 3 hours there!

Cole is getting quite the personality on him!  He likes to sass and holler.  His shirt has been soaked from drool for a couple of weeks now and I finally felt his first tooth coming through.  The cutest thing is how much he loves and adores Noah.  Everytime he sees him, he stares and smiles and you can just see the love.  Too bad it's not returned.  Yet.  Sometimes Noah does talk nice and says Hi to him, but most of the time it's; "I don't want BabyCole looking at me" , " I don't want BabyCole looking at the dogs" , "I don't want BabyCole looking at the TV"  and yes, it's BabyCole, all one word.  I have a feeling that he will still be babyCole at 5!

7-9-09  The boys are grow, grow, growin'.  Noah just turned 2 1/2 and Cole is already 4 months old!  Cole just had his 4 month check-up and he is big and healthy, weighing in at 17 lbs. (90%) and is 26 1/2 inches long (90%).  He didn't like his shots and had a fever for 2 days.  He can roll over one way now and gets mad because he doesn't like being on his stomach.  Noah is the water baby, any chance to get wet and he does.  He can sing all of his ABC's now and is very proud of himself.  We are working on sharing and being nice to your brother, but most of the time he does pretty good.  I cut all his hair off again on the 4th of July, he was such good boy for me.  He thought the clippers tickled his ears.  He looks so grown up now.

5-30-09  Cole's firsts are in full force.  He went on his first airplane ride to Montana, or as Noah says, "Ontana".  We went for 6 days and had a great time going to Uncle Ray's UM graduation and party.  The boys also got to spend a lot of time with Grandma and G-Pop, going to parks, getting ice cream, visiting with June, playing outside and  feeding the birds.  They both love being outside and the weather was definitely up and down.  One day it was in the 90's and Noah was playing naked in the water and then the high was in the 50's and we were wearing sweatshirts and freezing at the park.  Noah keeps asking if we are going on that airplane everytime we see one in the sky.  He liked flying this time, even though he ended up sleeping most of the time. Yeah!

Today Cole went to the lake for the first time.  We went to Canyon Lake and cooled off.  Noah got right in and didn't come out until it was time to go.  Cole, however, cried when I dipped his toes, so he spent the rest of the time on the blanket.  Noah liked watching all the boats and floating on the waves.

5-12-09   Boys, boys, boys...They are growing so fast.  Cole is already 10 weeks old.  He had his 2 month doctor visit last week and he weighs 14 lbs., 6ozs. and is 24 1/2 in. long.  He is a half pound lighter and one inch longer than Noah at this point!  Everything was good, the doctor was happy with his growth.  He is smiling all the time and trying to laugh out loud.  He loves to be outside and in the water, just like his big brother.  Noah is still our busy little man, running, climbing and jumping on everything.  He is communicating in full, well thought out sentences and pays attention to everything said around him.  I just love to watch him think and ask questions.  He is funny too!  The other day we were sitting on the couch without the TV on and Lucy and Cooper were sitting in front of us playing.  He looked at me and said, "We are watching Lucy and Coopy TV".  and last night Nate and I were talking and he gave us a dirty look and said, "Stop talking so much, I can't hear my cartoons!"  You just never know what he is going to say next.  When driving, if a car pulls in front of us, he'll say, "say excuse me car"  He keeps us laughing!

3-13-09  Baby Cole Tyler Garrin---Cole was born on March 3rd at 11:39 am.  He weighed 9 lbs., 14ozs.  and was 21.5 in long.  He is healthy and happy and beautiful!  Noah is doing great, a little jealous though.  He is now giving Cole kisses and trying to help a little with bottles and binkys.  Extra love has helped to take his mind off the situation.  Grandma has been here to help while we were at the hospital and recovering and G-Pop is here now.  My friend Dani and her kiddos were here for a day and Noah loved playing with the "big" kids.  Uncle Matthew will be here next weekend, and Nana came today with chocolate milk and bubbles.  What else could you ask for.  Thanks to everyone for their help, love, gifts, and thoughts!

2-9-09   Funny, Funny!  Kids say the funniest things.  I am now staying home with Noah, waiting for his little brother to make his appearance, and watching another baby too.  The other baby is 11 weeks old, and it's been a good test to see how Noah will react when I have the baby.  He has been jealous, as we suspected, but what we didn't expect was the evil plotting to get rid of the baby.  He has been obsessed for awhile now with garbage trucks, and on Tuesdays and Fridays we go outside and watch the garbage trucks pick up the cans.  Well he thinks that the garbage trucks should scoop up the baby and take him away!  He says, "Garbage truck scoop up baby", or "Garbage truck dump Carson".  He has also had plans of his dinosaur puzzle biting Carson.  It's funny, but I do have to be careful and not leave him alone with the baby.  He is going to be jealous of his little brother too, and want him to go home when Carson does.

Other funny Noah comments lately:

"What's goin on here, eggs"  -at breakfast

"Don't talk to Momma, Daddy"- when he was playing with Nate

"Momma no patience"- awhile after I told Nate that Noah has no patience

random quotes from cartoons or videos- "Caterpillar shovel, kids" , "Big Mack, here",  "Hot Dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog"

"G-Pop eats bugs"- after talking about the birds eating the bugs in the grass

"Go, Suns"- he runs to the TV and yells it when any basketball game is on

"I'm coming up to see you, mom", "So glad to see you" , " I love you, too" , and "I missed you today"--all things that make your heart melt!

1-19-09  Our little boy is 2!!  How time flies!  This is a busy time of year with Christmas and Noah's birthday so close.  Christmas was more fun this year, with Noah starting to understand and get excited.  This year he actually wanted to play more with the gifts than the wrapping and boxes.  It was fun for us too, staying up late on Christmas Eve to put toys together for the morning.  We spent Christmas eve at Nana's house; eating, opening presents, and playing.  Christmas we spent at home with Grandma here from Montana.  We all wished that G-Pop, Uncle Ray and Uncle Matt could have been here too.  We talked to G-Pop and Ray via webcam, and they watched as Noah opened a couple of presents.  Overall, it was a great Christmas and we are thankful for all the gifts and for our wonderful family.

Noah's birthday party was at the same park as last year.  It has nice pavilions and a huge play area.  We ordered pizza and had a cute construction themed cake made.  This year Noah just wanted to play, as soon as his friend, Ander, got there, they hugged and were off to the play structure.  Ander is almost 2 and they have a friendship that I didn't think was possible at such a young age.  They met at daycare and developed a love/hate relationship with ups and downs that included pushing, shoving and biting.  But also lots of hugs and time together sharing and playing.

Once again, this year Noah has way too many presents between Christmas and birthday, but unfortunately we can't hide them and bring them out gradually over the next couple of months because he knows what he got and he wants it!!

12-11-08  "Santa Claus coming, pretty soon" is just about the cutest thing coming out of an almost 2 year old's mouth.  As he says it, he looks you straight in the face and nods, wanting you to agree.  He also says that Frosty is coming.  He loves looking at Christmas lights and our neighbors huge inflatable snowman.  In the mornings, Frosty is "sleeping", because he is deflated and lying on the lawn.  We are putting up our tree this weekend and hope that all goes well, expensive ornaments up high, and no fake snow glitter anywhere!  Christmas pictures will be coming, only a little late this year, we had to take them twice.  Our little show-off doesn't like the spotlight when we are paying for it.   We are looking forward toChristmas and all the wonder and excitement that it brings.

10-26-08  Well, Noah has had lots of excitement in the past month!  We flew up to Missoula to visit Grandma, G-Pop, and Ray.  We planned a surprise 25th Anniversary party for Grandma and G-Pop, and it turned out great.  They really were surprised and Noah looked very handsome in his little suit.  He got to meet family and friends that had only previously seen pictures and got to play with cousins Rebekka, Reilly and Andrew.  The other days were spent taking in the cool weather, riding the carousel, playing, and digging in the dirt.

Then a couple of weeks after that, uncle Ray came for a weekend.  Noah had fun showing Uncle Ray his wrestling moves and enjoyed spending time with him.

Now we are getting ready for Halloween.  Noah is a boxer this year, which seems appropriate, with his agressive behvior lately at school.  He has been knocking kids over, hitting, kicking, and even biting!  I'm surprised that it's taken him this long to bite, because he has gotten bit several times by another little boy.  I hope it stops soon, the little monster!!!  We went to the Fall festival at his school on Friday and he liked seeing all the kids dressed up and playing with balloons.  The highlight was the fire truck outside that he got to go inside!  He is obsessed with fire trucks, garbage trucks, tractors and buses.  Today we went to Mother Natures farm with Nana.  Noah fed the cows and goats, went on a tractor ride and decorated a pumpkin.  It was fun!

10-9-08  Another Boy!  We had the 18 week ultrasound today and found out that we are having another little man.  His official due date is March 9th, but he already measuring big, so I think that I will be induced early and he will be born at the end of February sometime.

9-14-08  G-Pop and Grandma came to visit Noah last weekend.  We all had a great time, we went on a day trip down to Tucson for a bead show.  Noah wanted to pull all the pretty "rocks" off the tables, but he really enjoyed running loose in the empty part of the convention center.  He showed G-Pop and Grandma how much he likes playing in the sprinkler and talked them into a sandbox to dig in!   They were impressed by his communication skills and how he mimics and remembers things that you tell him.  Noah is still talking about Grandma and G-Pop, he points to things around the house and says their names.  We will see them again in 2 weeks, as well as Uncle Ray, when we go up to Missoula for a weekend.  Time sure flies when you're having fun, we all wish that we had more of it.

7-19-08  Changing every day.  It seems that Noah is saying something new every day.  He mimics a lot and watches your mouth, then tries to form the sounds.  Some of the new words and phrases are please, thank you, I don't know, up and down, circle, purple, pool, out, happy, egg, more, cheeto, and probably more than I can think of right now.  In other exciting news, Noah has been going "pee-pee" on the potty at night.  He is still a little young, but we decided to introduce him to the vocabulary and concept, and he seems excited about it.  He is getting so fast now when running and chasing the dogs is getting more interesting.

His 18 month check up was last week and I was happy to see that he gained the weight back.  He weighes 28 lbs., 9ozs.  (80%) and is 34" tall (91%).  He is happy and healthy, minus a couple ear infections that didn't want to go away.

5-29-08  Noah is talking more now.  He can point to all his body parts but he says neck and knee.  His favorite word is still kitty, but now he says doggies and bow wow.  He is trying to say love you, which is about time, because I've been working on that one for a long time.  Some of his other words are duck, goo (short for Goose (Lucy Goosey- the dog), bubbles, yeah, peek, see, pudding (puddin'), momma, dad, nana, noma (a combo of momma  and nana), nona ( a combo of no and nana), and of course the old standby, NO! Nana thinks he would talk more if he would give up the stinky binky.  He also sticks out his tongue and hisses at the cats :)

5-21-08  Noah in Day care.  Well, Noah has been going to day care for 3 weeks now.  He is starting to get the hang of it, but it was pretty traumatic for the first week.  He wouls scream for me when I dropped him off, I could hear him crying down the hall.  I am also working there, in the preschool room.  It works out pretty good, I can check on him throughout the day.  I think in time it will get easier and he will eventually want to go see his friends.

4-13-08   Busy, Busy, Busy.  100mph all the time.  He wants to explore and climb.  His main goal is to go outside, so he grabs our hands and gets behind us to push us towards the door, grunting all the way.  If we don't get up then he goes into the kitchen and slides a chair out to climb because he knows we will come in the get him down.  Once we are up and in the kitchen we are closer to the outside door....His communication is mostly grunts and pointing, but he knows what is going on all the time and how to problem solve.  We are constantly amazed at how much he knows and pays attention.  Meanwhile the food battle continues, most foods are met with a scream and slap at the spoon, then to the floor.  It used to be that we could count on yogurt and cottage cheese, if nothing else, but lately he despises those also.  Funny thing is, a dirty piece of Purina Dog Chow off the floor, is delicious!

His 15 month numbers are:  25 lbs, 14ozs  (75%) and 32.5" tall (90%).  He actually lost 7 ozs since his 12 month check up.  The Doc said that is pretty normal though.

3-10-08  Noah loves the girls.  We went to Salome to visit Dani and David and the girls on Saturday.  It was Dani's Poppa's 80th birthday.  Noah loved walking around outside and being doted on all day by Savanah, Olivia and Avery.  They showed him how draw with sidewalk chalk, use bubble wands, ride a 4 wheeler, and went for rides in a golf cart.  He had a great day and was wore out from all the play.

3-4-08  Brrr...a chilly weekend in Missoula.  We were there from Friday until Monday.  Noah did a pretty good job flying; a mixture of curiousity, boredom, and possibly pain in his ears on the way home.  We had fun visiting and Noah got to meet his Nate's Uncle Mike and Aunt Natalie from Dillon, and his cousins Fred and Jennifer.  We tried to go sledding, but the snow was too icy with patches of dirt and grass.  Noah watched Dad, Grandpa and Ray go, then he rode once with Dad.  It was nice to see everyone and Noah enjoyed having more people around to ham it up for.
