Here is a quick recap of our week at Disney.
- Paige loved all the characters and she switches from Buzz Lightyear and Cinderella being her favorite
- Maddie ONLY liked the princesses at Cinderella's breakfast. She spent dinner at Chef Mickey's checking her back the whole time
- Paige rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and was mostly terrified (I assume by the look on her face) but was really proud of herself by the end
- Maddie would prefer not to be trapped in a stroller for a long time. She is all about freedom
- Paige rode
- Maddie only got scared on a couple of rides and not really that bad, she mostly just took it all in
- Paige loved getting the characters signatures
- Maddie got a little black eye from Mr. Potato Head (the little one not the big one)
- I beat John's score on the Buzz Lightyear Spin but he beat mine on Toy Story Mania
- Paige and Allie were just great friends
- Maddie has no qualms about picking up anything from the ground and putting it in her mouth
- Paige REALLY like the pool. John took her a few times. He said she liked to climb down the stairs swim out 10 feet and then climb back up the stairs
- Maddie was our official greeter and waved at hundreds of people
- One of my favorite meals, food wise, was surprisingly at the German restaurant in Epcot
- Paige says her favorite ride was Nemo (but this changes)
- Maddie's hair was really curly with the humidity
- Paige was one finger width too short for Soaring and top pony tail doesn't count towards height.
- Maddie said her first really sentence, "Where Dada go?". She also got another tooth.
- I still want to go in two years, and I'm looking forward to Maddie being older. Eighteen months is a little young. Or maybe I'm just a little too old.
1/13 We went to Red Robin last night for kids night. I knew Red Robin (big red bird costume) would be there. Paige was pretty excited but I wasn't sure how Maddie would be. She wasn't a fan of Santa and even relatives she really knows make her nervous sometimes. When Red came to our table she was okay until John tried to get her closer, but once she warmed up she was smitten. She tracked him around the room and waved! Too sweet! She is going to love Mickey.
Paige was excited when she saw him across the room but was a little shy when he came to the table. Oh the way home she said, "Red Robin doesn't talk?!" How observant she is. I told her Mickey won't talk at Disney either. She said, "Mickey talks!" I told her Mickey talks on TV but not is person.
1/1 Maddie's often called Silly Baby. It might even be considered her new nick name. She is a giggling fool. She loves to be chased. She will grab something and run in the other room thinking she's all sneaky. 1/12 Maddie says Thank You. She tends to do it when she gives something to someone instead of the other way around.
1/11 Paige's new nickname should be Meaunt. Cuz' "she wants" everything. 1/13 Paige wore her undies to bed and woke up dry! 1/14 First day Paige went all day without an accident. Real undies are the next step.
1/10 We went to Bounceland on my birthday for our first playdate. I wasn't sure if Paige would be able to do all the stuff 'cuz I thought it would be too hard or too scary for her. Boy was I wrong. She was in her element. There was one slide that was pretty tall; so tall that I was really wondering if I could do it. It didn't faze Paige. She climbed up and did it over and over. I carried Maddie up one slide and half way up she started looking down and whimpering. She was not a fan, maybe next time. Climbing, running, sliding and squeezing myself through the blow up car wash 'squeeze', really wore me out.
December 5 - Maddie turned one the day before Thanksgiving. She got her first tooth just before. I guess she wanted to be able to sink her a tooth into her cake. She is also walking more and more. She is about half walk, half crawl these days. Maddie had a great time at her party. She didn't go crazy with her cake the way Paige did. She was way more laid back about it, but she did want to feed everyone. She just went to her 1 year doctors appointment and is well over 95% in both weight and height. No big surprise, she a big girl.
The Binky Fairy - Something huge happened. Something so amazing I am still having a hard time believing it myself (maybe it's from lack of sleep). The Binky Fairy came Friday and took Paige and Maddie's binkies to give to all the babies that don't have one. In return she left them the Tinkerbell movie. You know the Binky Fairy and Tinkerbell are good friends, right? The first night was hard. REALLY HARD! Each day gets a little better, but Paige hasn't taken a nap in five days. I hope those aren't gone for good.
Oct- Maddie took 6 steps on Halloween night. She decided to make the big journey at Uncle Tom and Aunt Sally's house after trick or treating. Could the chocolate have given her that extra push? Who knows. There is a pretty good video of those first steps on our dropshot site. If you go to the tab Family there is a link there. Warning...I wasn't thinking and took the video sideways and now can't figure out how to rotate it. Maddie took four days off from walking. On Tuesday she finally made about 10 trips back and forth between me and GrammaRama.
Halloween- I thought I would get away with picking out Paige's costume for one last year. I was sadly mistaken. She clearly stated she wanted to be a princess, not a ladybug. She only wore her tiara for pictures because it was 'pokey'. Maddie was Squirt, the turtle from Nemo. She was adorable. She didn't even mind her hooding up. The weather couldn't have been better. Paige didn't even need a coat. She was really getting into it. She kept her manners up with a standard Trick or Treat followed by a Thank You.
Sept - Maddie is all over the place. She crawls. She pulls herself up. She learned how to climb stairs and cruise around a coffee table this weekend. She does a great Chris Farley impression. Still no teeth. Paige is getting ready to start "school" at daycare. They do a preschool program. She had a great time at Bills Lake for Labor Day. So may people to pay attention to her. She loves the lake and really thinks she can swim. We camped outside Sunday night in a tent complete with her Stitch sleeping bag. She thought it was great.
June 1st - Maddie has been sooo close to rolling over. When I change her diaper she is always grabbing and reaching for the refill plastic bag of wipes. So I had an idea. I laid her down on her blanket in the living room with that bag just out of her reach. I went into the kitchen to get Paige some cereal real quick and when I came back she was on her stomach. I rolled her back onto her back and she was grinning so big with spitup all over her face. In a minute she repeated her rolling and since then she is unstoppable. The only problem is she isn't as good at rolling from her stomach to her back. So she rolls and then gets stuck on her tubby flaring her arms and legs until we roll her back over. There are times where I think I should leave her and make her roll back over, but then she plants her face down into her blanket exhausted and I worry too much to leave her.
June 2008 - The other night I had John's and my pop sitting on a table next to me. Paige said, "Dada's?" I said, "Yes." Paige looks at me perplexed and says, "Bowz?" Translated means, both. It was way cute. I had no idea she even knew the word both, let alone how to properly use it. I am amazed daily at just how much she grasps these days. I may be bias but I think she is such a bright child.
May 14 - Going on a record...three nights in a row where both girls slept through the night.
May 2008- Maddie discovered how to do raspberries. She did does them all the time now. 5/5 Finally rolled over again. She did it for a day or two and then refused until today. I think she may sit up before she rolls over consistently. She has a stubborn streak. Not sure where she gets that from. Maddie can hold her own bottle, something Paige only did once. She'll do it sometimes, but we made a deal that she doesn't have to do it all the time. Both of us still like to cuddle when she eats.
April 2008 - Maddie started making the craziest guttural grunting chatter. There are times that if I didn't know better I would think she was choking. I have started to get serious about her nap schedule. When I put her down awake but tired she pulls out this wild animal chit chat to make me second guess my choice. I will try to get a video of it soon before it disappears forever. They grow up too fast. I told John I was going to bind her like they do to women's feet in some cultures, only I was going to bind her whole body. I was promptly vetoed.
April 2008 - Paige is a complete chatter box lately. The other morning she got mad at John for something and she came crying to me saying, "Mean Dada". She got over it a few minutes later and said, "Tanks guys". She is obsessed with the movie Monsters Inc. She often wakes up and her first word is Monsters? She has mastered climbing out of her crib, Yeah! Not! The other night John found her sound asleep, under Maddie's crib. Paige also enjoys being "Nakie". I have put her up for a nap more than once, just to spot her at the top the stairs buck naked. She will then yell down, "Me nakie!"
