Stories July 2009 Drew is almost 2 and talking up a storm. He is now constructing sentences and impresses us all the time with what he knows and remembers. We've started potty training and that has been going better than expected. As long as he doesn't have any pants on he goes in the potty 99% of the time. However, put on some underwear or a diaper and he goes in the potty maybe 20% of the time. He's out of daycare for part of the summer while Mommy has off. He's also taking swimming lessons. Check out a video of Drew's and Sydney's first dance. www.youtube.com/autigersc Feb 2008 Drew is a toddler now. No hint of baby left. I discovered last weekend that he could count from 2-5 and I didn't even teach him. Must have gotten it from daycare. He says a lot of words, and is getting better at communicating what he wants. He's also mastering his climbing skills (he's learned how to climb up on our pub height chairs). He's 34 inches and almost 27lbs. He's got most of his teeth too. He's starting to resist veggies, but still likes fruit. I guess I'm going to have to hide veggies in some of his foods. I made some zucchini choclate chip cookies that he liked. Next I'll try some carrots in them. December 2008 Drew is not too fond of Santa this year as you can see in the picture. We tried a couple of times and he pitched a fit the closer we got. He brought another virus home to share with us, so we're all a little under the weather. Should be gone by Christmas though. We took him in for a hair cut, but he wouldn't hold still so we had to buzz it. It's growing back quickly though. I like it long. October 2008 Drew went to the State Fair and a Fall Festival at a local church all in the same week. He had lots of fun. I've loaded a few pictures of the events onto the website. Two new things about Drew. He likes Salt & Vinegar chips (just like his mama), and he's learned to screech like a pterodactyl. He does it when he wants his way, but he'll also do it if he's happy. Not so bad at home, but in the middle of Target it's not so cute :P He's dressing up as a duck for halloween, so check back for pictures Octoboer 2008 Drew's not a baby anymore! He's walking really well, and talks constantly. He doesn't say much that we understand, but I'm sure it all makes sense to him. He is starting to understand simple commands, and will surprise us sometimes and do what we ask him to. His molars are slowly coming in. He's able to give open mouth kisses, and has recently learned how to give closed mouth kisses. He's growing fast. July 2008 Happy Birthday Drew! We had a dump truck themed party. It rained, so we had to have it inside. Which worked out fine, but would've been more fun outside since we had a friend loan us all kinds of construction signs and barricades. Drew is almost walking, he's taken up to 8 steps, but still prefers to crawl. He's also started climbing on everything. He's got about 8 teeth at the moment. Jess has been off second half of the summer, so he's been enjoying mommy time. Hopefully he won't mind going back to daycare in August. He's still just as happy as can be, as you can see in the photos. He babbles a lot and says a word here and there. He's had a blast visiting all kinds of family this summer. We made a trip up to Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama 4th of July to visit family. He's also been to Dothan, Panama City, and Orange Beach to visit family, and we've even had some cousins pop in to see us for the birthday party. So he's been well entertained. We've completed the deck and some landscaping in the backyard (just in time for the rained out B-day party). May 2008 Drew's had a bad case of bronchitis that he was nice enough to pass on to Mom, but that hasn't slowed him down. He's crawling and can walk while holding on to the furniture. It shouldn't be long and he'll be running. He's still top of the charts for size. He's also started eating bits of real food (really likes Ritz crackers). We took a trip to Gulf Shores, AL for a mini vacation (mother's day gift). We had a blast. Drew really liked the indoor pool. Wasn't a big fan of the cold ocean water, but liked the beach. We visited the zoo, and had dinner at several lively restaurants. If you're headed to Gulf Shores we recommend renting a condo at Crystal Towers.

February 2008 December 2007 Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Andrew is 5 months & still growing. Weight and Height are at the top of the growth charts. He hasn't mastered rolling over yet, but loves to stand and jump in his jumperoo. He's also got his 2 bottom teeth coming in. This past month we've introduced him to vegetables. He eats them well, but I don't think he likes them too much. Starting in January he'll go to day care part time. We think he'll enjoy being around all the other babies. He's definitely a people watcher. Take care and Happy New Year! Nov 1, 2007 Andrew dressed up as a Tiger (of course) for Halloween. He's still growing. He weighs 15-16lbs (last time I checked). A lot of his pretty hair has fallen out. Hopefully he won't go completely bald before it starts to grow back. He's doing his best to try and talk, but no real words yet. He's able to reach out and grab toys, and is starting to hold his bottles (with the help of mom and dad). He's almost sleeping through the night. Still wakes up for a feeding around 4am, but has had a couple of nights where he slept all the way through. We're all doing well, and hope you are too! October 2007 Andrew is 2 months now and doing well. He had a frenulectomy the end of September (the piece of tissue that holds the tongue down was too short and restricted his tongue movement). It was a very quick procedure and he's doing well. He also started his vaccinations and they don't seem to bother him either. He's still growing fast, 14lbs and 24 inches (90th percentile). He use to be able to roll over, but with all the weight gain he hasn't done that for a few weeks. He's making lots of noises, but no words just yet (still early). He's also starting to lose some of that pretty hair, but we're hoping it won't all fall out. He sleeps pretty good, goes to bed around 8pm and gets up about 7pm with one feeding during the night. We're doing well, hope you are too!
For those of you who have not been informed, Jess's brother Jeremy was tragically killed in a car accident on his way to work Aug. 14th. Words can not describe how much he will be missed. Though we only had him with us for a short 25 years, we are blessed that he has left us with two beautiful children to remember him by. He is survived by his wife Ashleigh, 2yr old son, Jason, and 4 month old daughter, Molly. Trustfunds for the children have been set up through Regions bank under their mother's name, Ashleigh Paulk. We are thankful that Andrew got to meet his uncle as you can see in the photo. Rest in peace little brother. July 24th 2007 He's Here! Jess's water broke at 7:45pm and Andrew Samuel Petersen was born at 11:40pm. It was a very fast delivery that sent the nurses scrambling trying to get a doctor in time. But everything worked out (except there wasn't anytime for pain medicine) and everyone is home and doing well. He weighed 8lbs even, was 21 inches long, and has a head full of hair. He's been very content since coming home, mostly sleeping and eating. We've put some pictures on the website, but more will follow. There's a limit of 15 pics for the website, so we'll change them from time to time. So keeping checking back for updates. Nobody picked the 24th for the birthdate, every other day was picked except that one. July 2007 No real news this month. Doctor visits are every week now. Everything seems to be going well. Josh is working hard on the addition to get as much done as possible before baby gets here. The nursery is ready except for some decorations we're still working on. Hopefully we'll have those done soon and I can put a picture on the website.
June 2007 We've got new pictures, and he's still a boy :) He weighs just a little over 4lbs and has hair. He does seem to be on the higher end of the growth chart, so the ultrasound actually predicts a due date of July 19th instead of the orginal July 28th. But the doctor isn't changing the date, and we're still expecting it to be around the 28th. Be sure to get your guesses in for the birth date by signing the guestbook, and if you want to change your guess based on the latest ultrasound go ahead. I'll change it on the calendar I'm keeping with all the guesses. As far as the nursery goes, we're waiting on some furniture to arrive before the nursery can be completed. I'll take some pictures of the nursery when it gets done, but that'll probably be mid-July.

The drywall is up! And the texture has been sprayed on. Time for paint :) The above picture is the back half of the bedroom.
