Stories

The babies loved their first day of preschool!  We are so thrilled!  And relieved!  They are all in the same class of 1 year olds, 8 in the class with 2 teachers, and they had a great day.  They go to preschool 2 days a week now, and already they've adjusted to their big boy/girl lunch at the table with friends and a nap on the good ole red & blue fold out mat.  I'm so proud of them!  So far, Eric and I spent our first "free" day shopping for a new camera, so hopefully more updated pictures are soon to come.

What a fun, busy summer we've had!  I'm embarassed that I haven't updated our site since Mother's Day, but well, free time is a rarity.  The babies are 18 months old, and we are having a wonderful time watching them grow, learn, and interact with each other more and more.  Eva Claire is definitely the most talkative and has fun blurting out everything she knows:  bus!  moon!  car!  nose!  Though most of these words lose their ending consonants when she pronounces them, but she does pretty well.  Even calling her brother, "Coh" for Cole.  Funny, her brothers won't attempt "Eva" but call her "sister" something more like "didder".  Cole is aggressive and flirtatious and talking also.  He really likes to throw things, and we're just trying to teach him what to throw and where to throw it, for example a ball outside, not a sippy cup inside!  Aden has become so affectionate this week, and it's SO sweet!  He gives hugs and kisses, even to his brother and sister.  He's talking pretty well, though he has certain "words" he continues to use that no one understands.  He's our best eater and weighed in just under 27 pounds at his 18 month check up.  The others eat well also, with Cole weighing 26 pounds, and Eva Claire's about 22.  Everyone's growing and staying right where they need to be on the chart.

The pictures you see with the Easter Bunny are from a picnic and egg hunt we attended last weekend.  The Mothers of Multiples Club sponsored it, and we had a great time!  The babies did so well, and we enjoyed seeing other sets of twins and triplets running around hunting for eggs.  Thankfully, none of ours were scared of the Easter Bunny and they each enjoyed finding an egg or two.  They weren't interested in collecting lots of them, just happy having one for each hand.  The babies love playing with each other these days, and they really are quite entertaining.  Down to just one nap a day (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes an hour or 2) they play very hard, and thankfully sleep hard at night.  Still from about 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM.  Everyone's healthy and running all over the place!  We're ready for warm weather again and waiting on our fence to be built in the backyard...of course, they love to be outside.  We celebrated a wonderful Easter with Grandma, Grandmommy, and Granddaddy.  Spring seems to be off to a great start.

Everyone's walking!!!  Just after their birthday, Eva Claire started taking more and more steps.  Now she confidently walks room to room.  This week, Aden also made great progress.  He's up to 6 or 7 steps now, and everyday gets more stable.  Cole's strides just seem to get longer, and I wonder when he'll start running!  It's happened so fast, and I am very proud of them!  We had the 1 year check-up, and again the boys are in the 50th and 75th percentile for their weight and height.  Aden is our big man at 23 pounds, Cole is 22, and Eva Claire is 19 pounds.  Wow!  To think they started at 4 and 3 pounds.  Amazing!  The first year has come and gone, and I guess now, we're off and running!

I can't believe how quickly we are approaching the trio's First Birthday!  What a year!  We're having fun these days watching the babies entertain each other and us.  Cole took his first steps around the 11 month mark, Aden mastered his crawling over the holidays and is now delighted to pull-up then let go to clap his hands, and Eva Claire has taken a step or two but is more cautious than her fearless brothers.  They ALL jabber to themselves and each other with da-da, ma-ma, lah-dee, bah, puh, kuh, and so on.  Since none of them are addicted to pacifiers, there is never a dull or quiet moment around our house!  However, we recently have tried to adjust the schedule to one long nap right after an early lunch, and so on occasion all 3 will be asleep for about 2 hours....ahhhhhhh.  They're still sleeping well at night from about 6 p.m. to 5:15 or 5:30.  I never thought I'd be so glad to get up at 5 in the morning, but I'm just grateful it isn't before 5 anymore!  January has been a fun month with lots of playing all day, everyday.  For us, 2007 has gotten off to a great start!  We hope you and yours have enjoyed a Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas!!!

The triplets are 10 months old, and we are thrilled to celebrate their 1st Christmas.  Everyone is healthy, growing so fast, and crawling everywhere!  I remember this time last year saying that Christmas 2006 would be so fun, and indeed it is!  Aden just this week has made great progress in his crawling.  He looks like an inchworm!  He's so pleased to be on the move and catching up with his brother and sister.  He also loves to "walk" with a grown-up holding his hands.  Eva Claire and Cole crawl quicker than ever and especially enjoy pulling up on the new favorite toy, the Fisher Price baby grand piano.  Cole has been seen letting go and balancing for 5-10 seconds on his own.  Such a strong boy!  We're in a delightful stage right now, watching the babies play on their own and also with each other.  They're still on a good schedule, sleeping from about 6 p.m. to 4:30 or 5 a.m., and they usually take one morning nap and one afternoon nap for an hour or less.  Over the holidays we're enjoying lots of time with grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and of course, lots of new toys!

What an amazing, blessed year this has been.  This Christmas, we celebrate the birth of our 3 little miracles, and rejoice in the most incredible miracle of all time, the birth of our Savior.  May He fill your heart with love and peace this season and throughout the year.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Thanks be to God for His abundant blessings on our family this year.  The babies recently turned 9 months old, and they are healthy, growing, and moving!  At their last check-up, Aden weighed 21 pounds, Cole was 20, and Eva Claire is catching up at 17 pounds.  Everyone's in the 50th percentile, and aside from a few cold symptoms which have come and gone this month, they're doing great.  Cole is most ambitious in his crawling these days.  He's into everything!  He also pulls up on anything from the couch to the pants I'm wearing.  He is so pleased with himself, smiles at the smallest accomplishments, and seems to be turning into the ham of the bunch.  Eva Claire is also crawling and pulling up to the highest point of her tippy toes.  Poor dear, she already has rough, calloused big toes from always being "en pointe"...perhaps a ballerina in the making?  She loves to squeal, shout, and growl.  Not silly like Cole, she is intense and dramatic!  Aden is practicing his speech alot and uses his fingers to drum his lips.  His top teeth have come in and he loves to wrinkle his nose, lift his top lip, and show them off.  He's still taking his time in the crawling department and really doesn't have a strong desire to work on it.  When he is on his tummy, he fusses in frustration.  We're going to the physical therapist later this month just to be sure he's within the normal range of development, which the doctor says he is.  He's content watching the others, babbling, and giggling.  They are all such sweet babies!  They're eating well, even working on crackers and more textured foods.  Still sleeping well, too, usually going to sleep around 6 in the evening and waking up between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m.  I've come to terms with being an early riser, convincing myself that "they're just numbers on the clock!"  As long as I'm in bed by 8, I know I've gotten the sleep I need.  They all usually take an hour nap in the morning and one in the afternoon, so no complaints here!  They bring us such joy, and this Thanksgiving we are more grateful than ever.  We hope your holiday is special with the ones you love.

It's so hard to believe the babies are 8 months old.  Their personalities are really starting to bloom!  Aden still enjoys being held and can be quite content in a lap for long periods of time.  He also happily entertains himself in the exersaucer, babbling "mah-mah-mah" and even giggling at himself.  He has such a gentle nature and the softest skin, too.  He's stable now sitting up on his own and seems to have mastered crawling backwards!  Cole on the other hand will not sit still in your lap, but rather likes to treat it like a trampoline.  His energy seems to never run out, and out of the three, he fights sleep all day long.  He is crawling (forwards!) 2 or 3 feet at a time and is having fun with his new skill.  He smiles alot, especially if you sing to him, and like all babies, has to "taste" everything.  Eva Claire is such a charmer.  When she's happy, she's adorable, and when she's mad or tired, well, we'll just say the whole house knows about it.  Still so dainty, she's army-crawling on her belly some and sitting up pretty well.  She's really a sweet little girl and loves to simply be held and walked.  They are all so precious and special in unique ways...still 3 little bundles of joy!

10/13/06 What an exciting week!  On Sunday we took all 3 babies to the church nursery for the first time.  The week before, we did our usual "divide and conquer" routine...I took Cole with me to church and Eric stayed at home with Eva Claire and Aden.  Since Cole did so well in the nursery, it gave me the courage to try it with all three!  They were all great, and we got to enjoy both "big church" and Sunday School.  So nice to feel normal, well at least a little bit.  Aden's second bottom tooth poked through this week, which makes the count 2 for each.  Everyone now gets their teeth brushed every night with apples-and-bananas-flavored toothpaste...yum!  Cole officially crawled today for the first time, and we're so excited!  He was a bit wobbly, but he did it...such a great marker for their 8 month birthday.  Everyone is happy and healthy!

Aden can now be a member of the Teeth Club with his bottom left tooth having finally shown itself this week.  Eva Claire's second bottom tooth is also coming in.  I'm sure she hopes it'll catch up quickly to her other one, so as to lose the nickname Snaggletooth!

The triplets are 7 months old now, and we're having so much fun with them.  Aden is babbling, squealing, and saying "mah-mah-mah", much to Mama's delight.  He enjoys being entertained by his brother and sister and loves to be tickled.  He's sitting up pretty well, but is in no hurry to work on crawling.  He loves to cuddle and is quite content being held by anyone!  Cole is smiling more often these days, perhaps to show off his new teeth!  He's very energetic and has fun pivoting on his belly to reach for toys.  He's just getting up on his knees and rocking back and forth.  If he crawls anywhere, it's backwards which frustrates him tremendously!  Eva Claire is talking alot, having recently discovered the "guh" sound.  So, we hear "go-go-goo-goo" often.  She also is practicing her rock on the mat, and being so little, has no trouble getting her belly off the ground.  They are all very happy babies, and for the most part eat well and sleep well.  Favorite foods are sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash...and of course the fruits: bananas, apples, blueberries, and pears.  The weather in Collierville has been gorgeous recently, so we've spent alot of time playing on the porch and strolling around the neighborhood.  Hope all of you are enjoying a beautiful start to the Fall season as well.

September 13th, 2006  HAPPY 7 MONTHS BABIES!  Eva Claire has a tooth!  Same as her brother's...bottom left.  And now Cole's bottom right tooth has come in as well.  He's my little bulldog!

September 6th, 2006  Cole has a tooth!  Yesterday morning he was enjoying my hand as a chew toy, and I felt his bottom left tooth coming through.  Aden is the one drooling so much, I thought surely he'd be first!  I guess our days of gummy smiles will soon be behind us.  Cole is sitting up very well and pivoting on his belly.  He talks often, too, in this low growling voice.  Eva Claire on the other hand is having fun squealing these days.  As long as it's happy noise, I don't mind it at all.  She does have an impressive range!  She might be our crawler...over Labor Day weekend she started getting her knees underneath her and rocking back and forth.  She really wants to move, and gets so frustrated when she can't!   Aden is full of smiles and laughter.  He has more control sitting up on his own and is also pivoting on his belly.  The babies love looking at each other and reaching out for hugs and kisses, well, pinches and slobbers, but I know they'll be best friends!

6 MONTH CHECK-UP, August 21st:  We had another good check-up with the doctor yesterday.  Aden is 17 pounds 6 ounces and 26 1/2 inches long.  Cole is our biggest at 17 pounds 10 ounces and also 26 1/2 inches long.  Eva Claire continues to be the dainty one at 13 pounds 10 ounces and 25 inches long.  The boys are both in the 50-75th percentile, and Eva Claire is in the 10-25th percentile.  Dr. Newman said everyone is growing steadily, staying healthy, and he advised us to "keep doing what we're doing."  Of course the babies hated the 2 shots they each received.  We got lots of sympathetic looks as we left the Dr.'s office with 3 screaming babies!

On July 24th we took the babies to the physical therapist, just as a routine follow-up visit for preemies.  They were evaluated by 2 therapists and received good scores overall.  They are right on track physically for their "corrected age", which is the age they would be had they not been 6 weeks premature.  Of the 3, Cole was slightly more advanced in strength and dexterity, but Aden and Eva Claire were ahead of him in verbal skills!  No surprise there are 2 talkers in the bunch!  We learned some strength building positions and activites to teach them, and look forward to another check-up around Thanksgiving.  The therapists said the gap in any delay they might have should close by 12 or 15 months.  No worries!

Now 5 1/2 months old, the triplets are quite entertaining!  They're showing off smiles, babbling often, rolling over, and just starting to sit up with a little assistance!

7/06 Everyone is sleeping through the night...hallelujah!  Bathtime and bottles begin around 5 pm, and usually by 6 or 6:30 all the babies are down for the night.  They typically sleep for 11-12 hours, and it's wonderful!

On June 27th, we took the babies to the doctor for their 4 month check-up.  Aden was 24 inches long and weighed 15 pounds 2 ounces.  Cole was also 24 inches and weighed 15 pounds 4 ounces.  Eva Claire was 23 inches and weighed 11 pounds 10 ounces.  Dr. Newman was very pleased with their progress.

When I was 19 weeks along in my pregnancy, Eric and I went to the ultrasound appointment together to find out the gender of our baby.  After only a few seconds of scanning, the ultrasound technician said, "You do know you're having twins, right?"  We squealed with excitement, and I said to myself, well no wonder my belly was so big!  Then a few seconds later the technician said with a quiver in her voice, "there's three..."  We couldn't believe it.  Sure enough we saw Baby A (Aden), Baby B (Cole), and Baby C (Eva Claire) on the screen and spent the rest of the day in total shock.  Four weeks later I was admitted into the hospital for 3 months of strict bed rest.
