June 7, 2009- I never enjoy staying home from church because that usually means Cooper isn't feeling well.  Today is no exception.  He had a fever the last 24 hours so home we are.

He went to swimming lessons yesterday and did well even though everyone (Cooper included) had a meltdown.  After the Swimming lessons we went to the Farmer's Market at the Streets.  Cooper enjoyed playing in the bubbles, running around and eating fresh watermelon...or memon as he calls it.  Afterward, we went home and he quickly went to sleep.  He was worn out and the sniffles were getting to him.

Cooper really is beginning to talk more and more.  He still calls a rabbit a "hop-hop" and Big Daddy is still "big Da".  But he is starting to actually say yes instead of "sha" and "Thomas" instead of "Ta".  Everything seems to be happening so quickly too.  All of a sudden he no longer says "bopal" and says "Opal".  Paul & I will look at one another and ask "When did that start?" I know it won't be like this for long.  He will be jabbering and every other word will be understandable...soon everything will start to make sense.  I am still enjoying the jibberish!!

This morning when Paul left for Church, Cooper followed him to the cat door and waved at him, yelled at him....did just about everything to get him to stop...it didn't happen and Cooper was crushed...but he quickly recovered once we called GranJan and Big Da in Las Vegas and talked to them.   It is a good thing his speech is getting better....they love to talk on the phone!   God is so good!!

Right as I was finishing this post Cooper came to me and said "uo oh, Uh, oh...." I knew what that meant....POTTY TIME...and I was right....Urine in the potty for the second time...potty training is right around the corner!!!!

June 5, 2009- WOW!!   This has been the craziest month and it is only the 5 th!!   Well going back to the end of May, mom came back form Las Vegas to pack up her rental house since it re-rented so we spent all of out time this past weekend with her.   Cooper decided on Friday morning that he didn't want his passie any longer so he threw it in mom's trash!   He has been passie free since then.   Going to bed at night has taken a little longer but he has been doing just fine.   He also moved classrooms on Monday the 1 st.   Thankfully he will only be there until August (it wasn't the classroom his former teacher and I wanted him to go to) but he has already had issues with some of the kids....and I have had a couple with the teacher.   I guess it is my lesson in learning to deal with teachers that I won't like or particularly care for in the future!   It is not fun at all!!   One good thing is that he does get to go outside and into the gym two times a day so he gets to run around and play on the equipment and with stuff in the gym.   I am very glad of that.

This past weekend he put two words together by himself.   I was telling him that "daddy was helping GranJan move" and Cooper said "Help GranJan?"   He knows most all his colors...brown is a little hard to say and he knows 1-10 easily.   His letters are sporadic but he knows the letters in his name and about 5-10 others.   He can put them where they go in his puzzles but he won't say them in order...what can I expect from a 21 month old.

The terrible twos are certainly coming.   He changed shoes on Tuesday morning 4 times before he settled on a pair he wanted to wear to school and since he is back with the kid he once bit...he has started biting again.   He bit one little girl 2 times today.   I am holding my breath until August but I am not sure the other kids will be able to take him for that length of time.   Prayers & patience....prayers & patience!!

May 27, 2009- What a month May has been!   We had a great trip to Houston to be a part of John and Janie's wedding.   Cooper got to play with Patrick and go on an airplane trip again.   He enjoyed his weekend but we were SO ready to get back home and get him back into his routine.   We were pleased that he slept the entire time on both legs of the trip.   I think we have the flying thing down ...maybe!

Memorial Day weekend was great and going back to work has been rough!   Mom and Dad were both here and we enjoyed getting to spend time with them.   Cooper has been going to swimming lessons at Sea Star in Hendersonville and they got to see him do his thing on Saturday before they left out to drive to Las Vegas.   They will certainly be missed.

Big news is that Cooper pooped in the potty this morning.   He only pooped a bit, and he hasn't gone pee pee since the only time he has done it but HE STILL DID IT!!   It is interest...and at 21 months, that is great!

May 11, 2009- Mother's Day 2009 was wonderful.   Barbara was here with us, along with my mom.   Mom had to work but after church Paul, Barbara, Cooper & I all went to the Zoo in Nashville.   We had such a wonderful time at the zoo and Cooper fell and skinned his knee for the very first time.   I am sure it will not be his last skinned knee but he enjoyed himself so much I don't think he minded.

April 26, 2009- WOW what a weekend!   We ran the Country Music Half Marathon yesterday only 2 minutes slower than last year....which is not too bad considering the extreme heat we had to face.   But the biggest thing that happened this weekend was that Cooper used the potty for the first time!   He went pee pee in the potty.   I am sure it will be a while before he goes again, we made a big deal about it and since he was already naked, he was rewarded by getting to take a bath.   He was downstairs with Paul and I and he danced around saying "uh-oh" over and over again and when Paul asked him if he had to go he said yes so we ran upstairs to his potty and he went.   I never thought I would be so happy about pee pee in the potty, but we were!! I cannot believe how much he can do already.

April 12, 2009- Well Easter arrived with a BANG...almost literally!   We had really rotten weather on Good Friday and although Cooper slept through it I was stressed beyond words.   I had gotten a lot done before lunch...Cooper's haircut, running errands and such and then after a wonderful lunch with Big Daddy, the weather turned and I spent the next 4-5 hours watching news reports of tornados and damage.   It was truly heartbreaking.   Cooper never woke up and was ready for the evening when daddy made it home.

Easter Sunday morning we went to church but not before the goodies were checked out that the Easter bunny brought.   Cooper loved the eggs filled with "snack" and the little plastic Elmo and Cookie Monster that came in a couple of them.   Church was wonderful and Cooper enjoyed playing in the Toddler nursery with Alivia and her cousin Alex who were visiting with a friend of mine.   After church it was dinner with GrandJan and Big Da and then off for a nap for Cooper and the Masters for mommy and daddy.   Once Cooper got up we hid eggs and played with bubbles outside.   All in all, it was a wonderful day.   We are so blessed to serve a risen Savior and to have the life we do.   God bless everyone!

April 6, 2009- It seems as though enjoying Cooper has become our hobby.   So much so that it keeps me away from the updating of his site...that will be my excuse anyway!   Cooper has completely amazed both Paul and I recently.   His vocabulary, knowledge of places, things, letters and numbers have all expanded.   He knows all the letters in his name, his numbers from 0-9, all of his animals in the farm and some at the zoo as well as the dragons on Dragon Tales.   That is his new favorite show to watch.   He also has found a love of Curious George.

Cooper loves to play outside and just run until he falls down and then gets back up again and runs some more.   He loves showing us the moon and the birds, pointing out every truck and bus that go by and going down the slide.   He hates to go inside and will let you and everyone around you know it when it is time to do so.

Almost all of Cooper's teeth are in and it has been an event.   He has a horrible time with them and it seems as though his exema around his mouth will not clear up.   With his hands in his mouth at all times, it is too hard to stay on top of the reaction.   There is a new bruise every day from him testing his boundaries.   We are ever in love with his teacher at school.   Ms. Phoebe is a God-sent angel on earth.   She has a personality similar to mine and we are on the same page about teaching Cooper manners and discipline.   He says thank you for everything and is getting much better about please.   He knows exactly what he wants and if you don't figure it out before his patience runs out then he will let you know....that is the next big issue to tackle....patience!!   I fear we will have issues with that forever though.   Seriously though, Cooper follows complicated directions quite well and is such a helper at home and at school I am proud to be his mother.

Our latest adventure has become Cooper's interest in potty training.   At 19 months he has started telling us when he has "poop." Usually I smell it first but it helps when he tells daddy..hee-hee!   He has his own little potty and the Easter bunny is bringing him a book, DVD and a boy doll and little potty for Cooper to learn more about it. We are not pushing him but he is certainly leading the way and we are excited for him, more freedom and more independence.   Maybe mommy is not so happy about that.

One of his latest things is that he has started calling me mommy from time to time.   It is too sweet to hear, especially since he has become a daddy's boy in the last few weeks.   Paul went on a week-long business trip to Florida during the earlier weeks of March and I believe that really threw Cooper for a loop.   He was constantly asking about Dada and then it turned into daddy quickly...he never looked back after that.   He has been all about the big bald guy he calls daddy.   In the morning, before bed, the second Paul gets home or even when he calls....it is "daddy, daddy, daddy." It is so sweet to see them together.   Cooper has become so loving and affectionate as well.   He gives "squishy hugs" with a big grunt at then end and puckers up for some "messy monkey kisses" too.   I am sure he will enjoy being reminded of this one of these days!

Cooper has been blessed with Grandjan living close by since Christmas.   He gets to spend the night at her house at least once a week and play with the "burd" (mom's African parrot- Treasure) and "na-na" (mom's dog- Sinatra).   She takes him to the park to feed the ducks and to the "sto" (the store) and spoils him with little fireman hats and indoor slides.   I guess that is what grandparents do, right?

During the middle of March we lost Paul's aunt Merrilyn to cancer and had to make a trip to Jackson for the memorial service.   Although it was a sad occasion we were blessed to get to see family that we had not seen since Thanksgiving and Cooper got to spend some quality time with Teet.   They went to the park to play and enjoyed walks in her back yard with all the kitty cats and plants.   Cooper was a helper and picked up sticks and met a cute little girl that was the neighbor's granddaughter.   He really enjoyed his stay.   Also during the trip we had an evening with Pop and MawMaw Penny and once again Cooper was outside with the dogs, the ball & bat and twigs.   He and his cousin Blake played so hard they were a sweaty mess when dinner was ready and a bath was a must.   I didn't realize it would start that early.

Although his eating habits are not what we would like for them to be, when he DOES actually eat it is fruits and veggies with a bite or two of meat.   He does love pizza, French fries and a sip of coke or diet coke from time to time but he loves his "me-mon" (melon) and corn.   I think he would live on watermelon and corn if he could.   He is still only 24 pounds at his 18 month check up but he was 32 inches tall and his head was still in the 87%.   He is all boy and goes like a "house-a-fire" until he drops at bed time....gee- wonder where he gets that from?!   Cooper has been the biggest adjustment of my life but what a blessing.   I never knew I could love so deeply and so completely.   Both he and his father are my world and I am thrilled.   Thank you for hanging in there with us....Easter pictures and egg hunts coming up so stay tuned!

February, 22, 2009- Well, I am derelict in my duties of updating this site.   I apologize.   I had hoped to update about once a month starting in 2009 but have fallen short.   BUT, here we are!   Cooper had a great new years...I was in bed by 8:30 and so was he.   The whole house was sick with the exception of Paul.   GranJan & Big Da were still with us and they got sick too.   But we had a wonderful holiday season.   January was mildly uneventful.   Cooper was getting over being sick, trying to sprout new teeth and just being the little ham he is!!

He was having a major issue with another little child in his class about biting but I think that is about to be resolved.   Cooper is growing like a weed and will be moving up to the next level class soon.   Although we will miss Ms. Phoebe, at least he will just be in one classroom over from her in Ms. April's room....YEA!!

Cooper can recognize several letters of the alphabet...not in order mind you, but he knows the "r" and the "p" and a couple others and can count to 3...he likes 2 the best though and if you catch him on a bad day he will call every number 2.   I think it is cute now but let's see how he does in a few years!!   He has experienced his first bloody nose...actually, he has now had 2 of them....one with daddy at my Jazzercise facility (I was changing clothes & they were playing hide & seek)   I am glad I did not see it.   The other was just last week at daycare and he fell in the gym....once again, glad I was not there to see it.   I think I have handled them rather well.   I do not want him to be a sissy boy but had I been at either incident, I am SURE that I would have made a bigger fuss over it than anyone cares to see.

Cooper seems to be growing and developing as he should.   At his last doctor appointment he weighed 24 pounds and was 31 inches tall... his height & weight were 49 th % and 25% respectively but his head was 92%!!!   I have a son with a LARGE head!!   It has always been big but this time it jumped into a new %.

As far as his little world...well, it is not so little anymore.   Cooper loves to climb, testing both his boundaries with gravity and with mom and dad's patience.   He has developed the "no" syndrome....saying "no" to everything...even when he means yes.   He is babbling more that ever and we are slowly decoding what the garbled babble means.   What a wonder it is to see him grow and develop.   I am so blessed to be a part of his development...of course in the back of my mind I am always wondering if I am messing him up somehow....Keep the prayers coming!   Love to you all.

December 26, 2008- What a wonderful Christmas we had!   I did not believe Cooper would "get into" the whole Santa thing but he seemed to enjoy getting up on Christmas morning and seeing all the toys in front of the tree.   He played hard for a while and then crashed early so GrandJan & Mommy could get Christmas lunch ready...but I am getting a little ahead of myself.

We have had such a busy week getting ready for Christmas all culminating in a wonderful Christmas Eve candle light service.   We started our own traditions this year....Cooper got to open one present on Christmas Eve which were his Christmas pajamas and then we ate Spaghetti and he went to bed.   We were going to make cookies for Santa but that was a little overly ambitious for this year...maybe next year!   Santa had a devil of a time opening up all the toys so they would be ready to play with on Christmas morning....but Santa was able to get it all ready.

Christmas morning Cooper woke up and was ready to play.   He lived his Thomas the Tank Engine but the little remote engine freaked him out.   We also discovered that it was on the same frequency as the remote so whenever we changed the channel it would lurch forward....freaked me out a bit too!!   Cooper loved putting things in the back of his dump truck and then releasing the latch to dump things all over the den...yea!   He even liked his Aqua-Doodle and mommy liked that it was ONLY WATER!!

We had a casserole and orange rolls for breakfast but Cooper was not crazy about them so he had fruit & some milk & cheese.   We played in our PJs all day and then had a LATE lunch about 2-3.   With a nap in between and no real schedule....Cooper was off his rocker tired & ended up going to bed about 6:30 which was over an hour earlier that he normally goes to bed but he managed to sleep until about 6 this morning and has been congested all morning.   I hope this is not the way we will begin 2009...no more sickness!!   All in all, it was a wonderful day with family, food and fun.   God has truly blessed us and hope that 2009 is even better.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Looks like Cooper had a great time. Roy's daughter and her family drove in from Fort Hood, Texas. Keep Timmy in your prayers as he is going back to Iraq in January. Once again, Merry Christmas Cooper. Keep Big Daddy and GranJan straight. Love , Roy and Peggy Dees.

December 20, 2008- Yikes, where has the time gone?? November completely escaped me!  I did post pictures of Cooper's travels but failed to write about them....let me try to summarize...

Cooper went to his first Ole Miss football game and we could not have picked a colder one to do so.   We took him to the Louisiana- Monroe game and after about 5 minutes Cooper & I left & went to the condo to watch other games on tv.   Cooper slept....I watched other games!

We were in Jackson for Thanksgiving and BOY, was that a trip!!   We were actually in Vicksburg for Thanksgiving day and then drove up to Oxford on Friday morning for the Egg Bowl.   After Ole Miss trounced the Bulldogs we drove back to Jackson and stayed there until Sunday when we drove home.   Cooper had a good trip on both days and seemed to enjoy the car trip.   It was helpful that Teet had given him some new DVDs to watch on the way home as his Christmas present from her.

December has been relatively uneventful except that we have been home, healthy and just waiting on the Big Guy to come visit on Christmas Eve!!

Cooper's Christmas party at school was Thursday the 18 th.   I got a few pictures but as soon as I got there he started crying and would not stop until well after I left.   It was so sad & I wanted him to enjoy his party so my mom & I left and hoped he had a good day.

Cooper went to see Santa tonight and had his picture made up at the Streets of Indian Lake.   Cooper turned 16 months old yesterday and he had a lot more fun this year with Santa than last year.   He waited on him to arrive and then we were able to take our picture with our own camera and get outta dodge!!   It was really nice to have the picture on our camera and not have to pay the mall extortion fee!

October 31, 2008- Well today started with mommy being in East Tennessee and Daddy taking Cooper to school dressed in his Halloween t-shirt and ready for his school party with Daddy's contribution of green beans (mommy's recipe).   Cooper's class went trick-or-treating around to the other classes in their school about 10 and had their party at 11ish.   Mommy missed it but her friend Lisa from work went over to watch and enjoy the little ones.   Cooper had his school party and I went to get him about 3 to get him ready for trick or treating at the Streets of Indian Lake.   When I picked Cooper up from school he was filthy from all the food he had eaten and all the playing he had been doing.   I loved it!!   He had gifts from his teacher Ms. Phoebe and he had made some neat crafts during the week.....he made some ghosts out of tracing his little hands and he made a pumpkin face by gluing shapes in the right place.   I was so proud to see how close he got to the actual lines drawn for him as a guide!!

Trick or treating began at 5 and Cooper lasted about an hour.   Paul was gone to Mississippi for the football game on Saturday so Hillary met me at the Streets to take Cooper around.   I was so proud of him.   He picked out his own candy, walked around with his little bucket, even said thank you a time or two (when prompted) and everyone loved the costume he wore (THANKS DARLENE!!!)   He looked so cute but I have noticed him shying away from the camera lately so most of my pictures of him came out with profile or back of head shots.   He crashed at a little after 7 tonight and I am glad.   I needed a rest after the evening's events but he was so cute and I am glad Hillary & I took him out.

October 27, 2008- What an amazing week....we left on Wednesday the 22 nd to go to Iowa to see GrandJan and Big Daddy for their 40 th wedding anniversary.   Cooper went on his first plane ride and it was not as bad as I had anticipated but he was not happy about the pressure changes.   We flew into Omaha, Nebraska and after a long flight & drive ended up at their house in the middle of a corn field.   We hung out on Thursday and got Cooper acclimated to the schedule change and just enjoyed spending time together.   We had not been together since Cooper's 1 st birthday so it was a delightful treat.   On Friday we had a big breakfast & hit the ground running.   We toured the Windmills, went to a train museum in Omaha and then on to a Safari.   Cooper enjoyed running around the museum and ringing the bell, pumping water with a real water pump and climbing on the rail cars.   Unfortunately mommy let daddy take the camera to the S.A.C. museum so mommy only had her camera on her phone to take pictures at the safari....those will be uploaded to Cooper's site later but he got to see buffalo, swans, all types of deer and antelope.   He also saw some bald eagles, hawks, pheasants a red fox and some bob cats.

Anyway....we ate dinner at a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant and once we got home Cooper was OUT!!   He had such a full day at the train museum that he could not go another second.

Saturday daddy had to leave because the flights on Sunday were full so after we took Paul to the airport in Omaha we took Cooper on his first trip to the zoo...the Omaha Zoo....what a wonderful zoo!!   It was the best I have ever seen.   It houses the largest aviary in the world.   Cooper went on his first train ride, carousel ride and first trip to the zoo all in one day.   He enjoyed the petting zoo area and loved the butterflies.   What a wonderful day...we were sorry daddy missed it.

Sunday was an equally eventful day....we got up and got packed to go but before leaving on the plane, Cooper got his first "haircut"   it was just a trim but a badly needed on but more importantly....GrandJan gave him the haircut.   Since daddy was gone, mommy had to travel with Cooper alone...it was an event!   Not a pleasant one.   Cooper's temper really showed on take-off & landing as he was unable to watch his DVD player and since both legs of the trip were full...we had precious little wiggle room .   Considering Cooper had gone without his regular nap and was in a strange environment AND was battling a sinus infection/cold...he was a trooper.   He fell asleep on the car ride back home and went to be early.   It was a wonderful trip and was a great present for GrandJan & Big Daddy's 40 th wedding anniversary but it was a HUGE learning lesson for mommy & daddy.....buy a seat for Cooper, bring something to do on take off and landing....or just drive the 13+ hour trip next time!!!

October 19, 2008- Mommy has been enjoying living in the moment and has fallen down on updating the site....too much has been going on in Cooper's ever-expanding world.  Sorry for the delay.....

Well, since the last update, Cooper has begin signing the word for hungry and all finished and he uses them frequently.  He has begun to put on some weight and no longer looks like a peanut....more like a chunky monkey!!  He runs through the house and on more than one occasion, he has taken a tumble off the 2nd and 3rd steps....we must put up that other gate soon.  I cannot get to him fast enough to stop him anymore....how can a 14 month old be so fast??

He is getting better at coloring at school and he really loves his class.  I think it helps him developmentally that he only has about 4-5 other kids in his class.  His teacher has my personality and we have rarely had to deal with separation anxiety.  It has been such a wonderful blessing.

Cooper loves to dance with my Jazzercise music and he regularly "La-La-La"s with Little Einstein.  He has about 11 teeth and at least 2 more coming in which makes for a grumpy boy but when we can stay on top of the aching with some teething drops or tablets, he is so funny and such a joy to watch play and grow.

One of his outings lately was to Hillary & Roy's wedding on the 11th of October.  He loved the groom's cake and got to dance with some older ladies at the reception!!  Yesterday we wend to Loveless Cafe in Franklin for breakfast and then to the Gentry Farm for pumpkins.  Cooper enjoyed getting out in the fresh country air and it really made mommy miss the counrty house where she grew up.

We have a lot coming up so hopefully mommy will do a better job of updating the web-site...if not with stories, than hopefully with pictures.

September, 25, 2008- I don't have any new pictures to post but I have a new story.  Cooper has learned a lot of new things lately and his little teeth are coming in left and right but today when I picked him up from school he had learned to sign the word for "more".  He will also blow a kiss and when you ask him for a kissy....he will drop his head and move in toward you.  If you are not careful, you will get a head but.  It is the cutest thing.

He doesn't say many words; he will say thank you, baby, mama and dada.  He will pat his tummy when you ask him where it is, along with his ears, toes and when you say "Touchdown Rebels" he will throw his hands up in the air.  He will also do that when you ask him how big is Cooper.  In the month and a half since the tubes have gone in he has really started responding to things you ask and say.  When I start singing "Patty Cake" he will start clapping and then when he is watching Little Einstein he will follow directions they give him about clapping, patting, raising his arms and shouting.  He loves music and playing and he is learning to color at school.  He really loves his teacher Ms. Phoebe.  I hate being away from him but he is learning so much and he seems to love going to school and being with other kids and his teacher, that I feel better about him being there.

September 14, 2008- Paul went to the game in Oxford without us this weekend so even though I had Cooper with me, I had a laundry list of things I was going to accomplish.  The weekend is up and the list has not been touched but I have had a wonderful weekend with my number one fan (sorry mom, but he is giving you a run for your money...you can fight over who loves me more later) ......

Anyway, back to my list....it was two pages long and had a lot of running around, little piddly things that I never have time to get done....as I said, the weekend is up and it is still staring at me from the little pocket inside my purse but what a weekend Cooper and I have had.  We went to a consignment sale and I got a great winter coat for Cooper he may be able to wear this year but certainly next year, along with three Polos and a cute little dressy outfit for fall.  Then I actually got to go shopping and got a couple of items for me....first time in about 4 months I have bought something other than a t-shirt.

After going back home for lunch and a nap (for Cooper, not me....I did get his laundry finished during his 45 min nap), we were back up and on to the park where Cooper chased the geese  (read- got geese poop on his little tennis shoes), slid down the slide and attacked the swings.  After the park we went to Wal-mart for........oh, just a wal-mart time waster (actually, I needed a gum fix........they are the only place that carries my double bubble sugar free gum...best gum EVER).  That was about a 2 hour tour and we were getting hot and tired so back home we went.  Cooper and I had a snack, played in his toy room (formerly dad's man-cave) and then watched football until Cooper could barely hold his eyes open and then he was off to a bath and bed.  I would say we had a really full day.

It was a normal weekend, no parties, no major events to blog about or pictures to post about cute little things Cooper did but it was one of those blissfully normal weekend I CRAVE and pray I have more of.  I got to enjoy this little blessing who is normally being schlepped from Oxford to school to Jazzercise or church.  I got hours to enjoy him and watch him and although I am COMPLETELY exhausted, I am aching for more weekends like this....hey he is up from his nap and I promised him I would take him to Target for a toy remote control and cell phone so he can have his own and not fight Daddy for the remote.......off to enjoy my blessing..........

September 10, 2008- If I have ever felt more like a failure, it would be in the last 48 hours.  It has been a rough year with Cooper's illnesses....I have done everything I can do....even the doctor confirmed that.  He had 7 ear infections but they really didn't want to do tubes but in the beginning of August, that was #8 and we had to give in....I am glad we did.  It has been a wonderful thing for Cooper and he is developing nicely.  His hearing is perfect, no loss of hearing so as they can tell, I even have the print out from Monday's visit to Dr. Lee.

Where is the failure....well.....the little things....the stomach bugs, the snotty noses, the bruises from falls and stumbles....the scrapes from long fingernails....but Monday night was the last straw!!  Paul was at a deacon's meeting and I was home after Jazzercise and taking care of Cooper.  He had his bath and teeth were brushed, final bottle before bed had been given and he was smelling good, in monkey P.J.s and we were about to go to bed...EARLY!!  Then it happened...what you may ask....IT...vomIT.....everywhere!!  It was all over me, all over the glider, all over the carpet and all over the good smelling monkey P.J.s.  I could barely move but I scooped him up (he was crying a lot by now...I was about to) and made our way into the bathroom to start the WHOLE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN when IT happened again.....I could feel IT coming up and I tried to move quickly so as to only have ONE carpet to clean but when IT landed on the bathroom floor before my foot did, I slipped, Cooper and I fell to the floor....he landed on me and I landed on my right hip and elbow with a loud thud and even louder crying by Cooper....and a look of shock on both of our faces.  I was covered in IT from head to toe and can remember thinking....that is going to hurt in the morning.....I was right.

I got Cooper cleaned back up...bath #2 and teeth brushing #2 and into bed, a shower for me and some Tylenol and off to bed I went.  When morning arrived, I actually felt fine but as the day progressed so did the level of pain I was in from my fall and can only describe it as excruciating!!!   To make matters worse, Cooper's school called me at about 10:30 to come get him because he was miserable too and they had other children to take care of...IMAGINE THE NERVE.   But Go and get him I did and he hung out with me at work until I found a sub for Jazzercise (AT 3:30) and then we headed home for Advil and a heating pad for me and teething gel and Advil for Cooper.....he was suffering soreness from the fall too, as well as having 4 molars come in all at one time AND.......drum roll please .........another STOMACH BUG!!!   So we have been miserable all week.   Thankfully the weekend is coming and we are not going to the game this weekend so Cooper can recover and so can MOMMY!

September 1, 2008- Cooper went to Oxford this weekend for the first football game of the season....not what we had hoped it would be but we made it a good weekend.  We went to the Grove on Saturday to hang out but it was WAY too hot so after about 2-3 hours, we went back to the condo and Cooper got a MUCH NEEDED nap and so did mom!!  We then went shopping on the square, got some dinner and listened to the football game on the radio while watching other games on TV in the cool condo.

We stayed in Oxford on Sunday and just relaxed and took in Oxford, post game.  It was nice to not feel compelled to work or do something around the house.  Cooper got to get on the field and play in the end zone and see the punter practice.  Once again, it was way too hot to stay outside too long so back to the condo for football and naps and just plain LAYING SORRY!

We came home on Labor day.  The ride home was not as much fun as the ride up because Cooper decided to stay awake so he had to be entertained by mommy in the back seat....it has been a while since I have been able to ride like a normal person in the front seat.  I miss the front seat and holding hands with my husband.....one day I will be there again.  Until then, it is me and the monkey and Little Einstein.

August 23, 2008- Oh My, Oh My!!  Cooper's birthday party was more fun than a barrel of monkeys!!  How much fun could a barrel of monkeys really be though...they are all crammed in there and they are probably stinky and ill because they are all in a barrel!!!  Anyway....I could not believe how much fun a one year old's birthday party could be but I had a blast.  I hope all the guests enjoyed themselves as well.

I was so happy that so many friends and family memebrs were able to come celebrate Cooper's big day....Grand Jan and Big Daddy came in from Iowa, Teet came in from Mississippi, Aunt Jody, Uncle Steve, Josh & Abby and Maryla and Debbie came in from Alabama, Uncle Dave & Aunt Robin came in from Georgia, and several local friends came as well....Deshea & Mark, David & Parker, Kate and Rylan & Raney, B.J., Natalie & Titus just to name a few.  It was wonderful to have friends and family around, especially since none of our family lives close.  Cooper enjoyed getting to play with everyone and we are so thankful everyone took time out of their weekend to celebrate with us.

Paul smoked ribs and grilled out hamburgers & hotdogs.  I think there was enough for everyone, and then some.  After we ate then Cooper opened his presents....with Raney's help.  Cooper was more interested in playing with the paper and crawling on top of the presents rather than opening them.  After the presents were opened then we decided to tackle the cake.....oh my...I do not believe words, or the still photos will ever be able to do justice to the demolition performed on Cooper's  "smash" cake!!  Thank the Lord for video!!  He got cake everywhere...I still think there will be a film on the house by his next birthday.  It was on the wall, on me, on the floor, all over him.....just everywhere!!  He really did not eat much, if any of it...he would dig his arms into the pile of cake....then throw his arms up in the air and everyone would laugh and he would do it again....it was too funny.

Everyone began to leave once he got cleaned up and a few rides were given in his new wagon.  He finally took a nap about 4 and CRASHED.  He had a huge day and seemed to have a lot of fun.  It was certainly a wonderful day with family and friends and once again...thank you to everyone who came, who sent a gift or card or called or e-mailed.  Your love and friendship mean the world.  Here's to another wonderful year ahead of us!!

August 19, 2008- A whole year has passed since Cooper came into our world and blessed us with his laughs, his smiles and seeing the world through fresh eyes.  Everything is new and fun and ready to be explored and I had forgotten how much fun a blade of grass or a leaf can be.  What a wonderful gift I was given on HIS birthday.....a new vision, a new sense of purpose and a new life to watch grow and learn.  What an awesome responsibility and privilege!!

This time last year, I was being prepped for a c-section after 24 hours in labor and NO CHANGE....all on his time.  (and His time)  Cooper was so sick yesterday and last night that I was worried his birthday would be a blur of vomiting and Tylenol and Pedialyte.  Thankfully he is much better today and his fever seems to have broken.  Breakfast has stayed down and I haven't changed clothes in about 4 hours so I am hoping we are out of the woods about 24 hours before the doctor thought we would be....maybe it was just a 24 hour bug instead of a 48-72 hour bug.   Evidently it is going around and he caught it like a champ.

I am so excited about his birthday party on Saturday.   He has family coming in from at least 4 states and friends from church all coming to celebrate his birth.   I know he will not remember this day but I will remember it for him and let him know as he grows older that he has deep roots and friends and family that love him and support him in all he desires to accomplish.

My birthday wish for Cooper?....That he never knows a day without God as his Lord and Savior, that he is confident in himself without being pretentious, that he loves and allows himself to be loved, that he is kind and humble but does not allow himself to be taken in and that he always knows his mom and dad love him and each other.   That's not too much to wish for is it?

Happy birthday my little Monkey..................

August 11, 2008- Cooper had tubes put in his cute little Peanut ears on Tuesday the 5th of August.  My reaction to all of this is enough for another post later but for time sake, I must share my little one's first experience with major medication....he is a funny drunk!!

When we took Cooper back to the prep area we were met by several different nurses, and nurse anesthesis along with an anesthesiologist(....spelling was NEVER a strong point of mine....AND I evidently could not get close enough for the spell checker to realize I was actually asking for help with this word! So deal!!!). Anyway- I could not tell you any one's name, but I remembered their faces, as they were the last faces my Peanut was going to see when he went to sleep and when he woke up and I wanted them to be kind, friendly faces....they were....mom satisfied.....for now.

Anyway- one of the nice-faced-nurses drew some meds for Cooper to take orally to make him woozy. BOY DID IT EVER!! He had that I-am-soooooooooooo-drunk-and-feeling-noooooooooooo-pain look on his face that I had seen at evening's end at one of Ole Miss' frat parties. His little eyes got slanty and he had the "smirk" on his face and then for no reason at all he would laugh...a real deep belly laugh that would signify something truly funny had occurred...and yet I know I looked like a professional mourner at a grave side and even Paul had a tear in his eye like he had stumped his little toe on a big rock! We were a sad lot.

At any rate, Cooper was loving life and laughing up a storm. He was so funny, I wish I had a video of his "trip." I also wish I could have crawled into his little head to "see" what he was seeing. I am sure I would have been laughing too.

P.S. He came out of everything well and has bounced back like a champ. His response to his name is immediate and he seems to be happier since the pressure has been relieved. What a blessing this little guy is!!
