Green Homemade Cleaners from Kitchen Items
Making cleaners out of items already in the kitchen can not only
be helpful when in a pinch but better for the environment (and your
kids).
Need to clean some old copper pieces in the kitchen? Did you know
that baking soda was the primary cleaning agent in the restoration
of the Statue of Liberty? She’s made of copper. If it can
shine up our lady liberty imagine what it can do for your house?
Baking Soda-
This cleans everything! Look on the back of the box for a slew of
different ways to use it.
White Vinegar-
Disinfects surfaces, great for spraying on cutting boards before
use. And nothing makes windows shine like vinegar.
Lemon Juice-
This gives the kitchen a wonderful, natural smell. Throw chopped
lemon peels down the garbage disposal to freshen it. It does seem
wasteful to use lemons this way but in a pinch it works really well.
Olive Oil-
This can be used to buff dirt out of wood and give it a nice shine!
If you mix it with some lemon juice or orange essential oil, it
will leave a clean fragrance in your home.
Essential Oils of Orange, Lavender and Tea Tree
Add two tablespoons to a water bottle for disinfecting or to act
as a great mold/mildew fighter. Tea Tree is great for mold and musty
smells. Spray this on your bath mat to keep it fresh. Lavender is
a wonderful disinfectant. Orange oil mixed with hydrogen peroxide
is the perfect cleaner for the toilet or an after shower spray.
