October 31, 2009-- Halloween! Daddy was sick all day, so I took the boys to Michael's for some crafts, balloons, and treats in the morning. We stopped at Chipotle for lunch, and then went to play at the library for the last time before it is renovated. The boys were so excited about trick-or-treating, and practiced at our front door. Adrian picked up on the "chick-cheet" ("trick-or-treat") right away as a method of getting candy from people. As we walked around the neighborhood, he was confused when people would meet him on the sidewalk or porch with candy and would try to push past them to get to the front door. Roman was in great spirits all night, galloping on his horse like the Monty Python characters. Linda and Criss joined us halfway through trick-or-treating and we all had a lot of fun. We came home to some presents from Aunt Linda and Grammy, then enjoyed a dinner of homemade chili and tiramisu. What a great Halloween!
October 30, 2009-- Today we had our Meet-up Halloween party. There were about 30 moms and all their kids, decked out in their costumes. Cowboy Roman and Dr. Adrian had a lot of fun playing with their friends, and everyone enjoyed the potluck lunch. We are so lucky to have a mom in the group who offered her catering facility so we had a space to enjoy the party!
Roman: "Odor" starts with letter O! Me: That's right. What does "odor" mean? Roman: Odor is when you can ride the roller coaster. Me: Oh, you mean "older" :-)
October 29, 2009-- Today we went to Hunter's Honey Farm. The boys got to see the inside of a hive, and took a tour to see how the honey was removed from the comb, extracted, and spun. They also got to see how the beeswax candles were made. It was a great tour, and the boys especially loved filling their own bottles of wildflower honey.
October 28, 2009-- I'm so frustrated that the camera is still broken! Tonight we went trick-or-treating along Greek row. All the fraternities and sororities were standing outside with games and candy for the kids. Roman loved all the attention as the sorority girls fawned over him in his costume, and Adrian had a great time selecting a piece of candy (or multiple pieces if they looked away)!
October 26, 2009-- Roman had his Halloween party at school. He wore his cowboy costume, complete with hat and horse, and wore it the entire day! His teacher even had to help him with the horse feet as he went down the slide. He had a great day with all his friends!
October 22, 2009-- Camera still broken, but we visited Waterman's Pumpkin farm. The boys had fun with their friends, bouncing in the bouncy house and down the slide, going on a hayride, and picking out small pumpkins.
October 15-18, 2009-- This weekend the Hall family drove down from Beloit to spend the weekend. Josh gave a presentation at SPEA, while Sam and I took the boys to the Wonderlab. Saturday we went to the park, then our first tailgate (both mine and the boys'). The adults went out for a nice dinner at the Scholar's Inn while Molly babysat the boys. It was a beautiful fall weekend, and it was so good to see our friends!
October 11, 2009-- Our last day in California. Roman and I said our good-byes, then headed to the airport. We boarded the plane at 11:30am, had a layover in Wisconsin, and finally made it back to the Indianapolis airport by about 9:00pm. We were so excited to see Daddy and Adrian! Adrian (very sleepy) stayed awake the whole ride home, saying "Mo-Mo" (his word for Roman). He missed his brother!
October 10, 2009-- The San Diego Zoo! We visited this zoo and could not believe the enormity of it! You could spend days there and still not see everything! We took a bus tour, then walked around. We were excited to see the Giant Pandas, which were asleep at the time, and Roman loved going on the SkyFari which was like a ski lift that went over the whole zoo. After the zoo we headed to Ocean Beach, which is where Daddy was born. I called Grandma to get their former address, and she was so excited when I texted pictures of their old apartment! We walked down among the shops and ate lunch at a BBQ restaurant, then walked down along the beach. After the beach we headed back to Pasadena.
