Feb. 9 - Rowan had an awesome 2nd birthday.  Pretty low key, but we had fun with our little guy.  He tried so hard to blow out his candle by himself, but it just started getting a little messy so Dave helped him out.  It was all he could talk about for days.  I think he finally stopped getting up and asking about his presents and cake this past weekend!  :)  Now if we can just get him to stop talking about Santa.

He went in for his 2 year check-up and the doctor was amazed at how tall he was.  She said he must have had a huge growth spurt between 18 months and when we were there.  Rowan is 37 inches tall and weighed in at 32lbs.  Overall, a very healthy little man.  I can only hope our next little guy is as healthy and happy as Rowan has been over the past 2 years.  (and is just as awesome a sleeper.....please!!!!)

Jan. 20 - At least this time I have a great excuse...morning sickness for most of the fall can stop anyone from getting these updates completed!  Well, we made it home for Thanksgiving and then Rowan got sick.  I guess this is part of trying to plan things with kids.  We were supposed to see everyone, friends and family and it just didn't happen.  Trust me when I say we felt awful about driving all that way and not getting to see many people over the holiday.  It was Rowan's first time getting really sick with a fever and of course when we are away from his doctor.  All in all, it took us about 3 weeks to get over the nasty cold we all had.  Good times!

Christmas went much better and Rowan was so much fun this year.  It is amazing to me how much kids grow over the course of a year.  I am guessing that it just keeps flying by and before you know it they are off to college.  He is saying so much these days and really letting his personality show.  I can't tell you how many times Dave and I have been trying to correct him on something or trying to get him to stop doing something and we just end up laughing at what he comes back at us with.  Not the best way to parent I'm sure, but what can you do?  I can't wait to see him with his new baby brother come June.

Oct. 15 - We are finally all updated with the pictures.  There are so many so it will look like Rowan is really growing before your eyes.  We had a lot of fun taking him to pick apples in an orchard not far from our new house a few weeks ago.  He loved trying to 'pick' the rotten apples that were laying on the ground--yuck!  It was also kind of hard to tell him they weren't like a ball and he could not throw them.  What can ya do?  It has to be so confusing to be him right now.  The haircut was full of drama and to be honest, he needs another one just to fix what the woman did to him that day.  I'm not sure if it was that she didn't know what she was doing or if it possibly had something to do with the fact that scissors being held at a crying and squirming child's head made it impossible.  Hmmmmm.  Either way, when you see us at Thanksgiving, please don't think that I did it (in case I don't get a chance to try getting it fixed up a little).  I guess by then it could be all grown out anyway.  Rowan's favorite thing he is saying right now is 'everywhere.'  We were up at the park swinging the one morning and he was telling me about the leaves and the trees (again and again and again).  And finally I said, I know, they are everywhere.  So now when he figures out there is more than one of anything, it is now everywhere!  It is so cute to hear him say.

Can't wait to see everyone in Ohio at Thanksgiving!!

Oct. 6 - Geesh, finally!  At least I finally got rid of the "Belly Fat" ads that were plastered all over this site.  Kind of crazy for a baby website.  Anyway, I just uploaded some pictures that I have had for quite a while.  They are from June and July so when Rowan was 17 - 18 months.  I figure no one has seen him at least since June so it will give everyone a good update.  I'll get the rest of summer up here soon!  Rowan loved being in the corporate housing and enjoyed being a kid in the city for the summer.  It was so easy to get out and do so many things.  Since they buried the highway running through the city, they now have a great new park area that Rowan loved to play in all summer.  I wish he would have been older to remember all this crazy fun, but he will instead have to be bored with mom's pictures and stories someday. :)  He is really talking up a storm and copies everything Dave and I say right now (which has really cleaned up our mouths!).  One of his favorite new words this fall is pumpkin so I thought it was only fitting to decorate the website with them.

We are getting settled in and adjusting to the new house.  Still working on making it our home, but we love it out here!  We are planning on coming home for Thanksgiving so hopefully we will get a chance to see most of you in person in a few weeks.  Hopefully I will get the rest of the pictures uploaded by the end of the week or weekend and then we can be in real time again.

Aug. 24 - Holy Cow, it has been a long LONG time since I have updated this site.  I am so sorry for the mess it has become.  Apparently it was time for our subscription to renew and since our address no longer matched the billing address (I can't even keep this straight) it canceled our service.  So I do apologize for the crazy commercials and ads that are now everywhere on this thing.  I'm not going to renew this until we move into our permanent address in a week or so and then everything should match again.  Oh and lovely how until I renew, only 50 pics can be on the site.  I don't want to delete any, so I will update pictures soon!

What a summer!  Boston is great, hotter than all get out and this humidity!!!!!  Rowan almost melted last week.  We are enjoying being downtown for now, but are super excited to be closing on our new house next week.  So we have almost come full circle with the selling the house, moving across the country, moving into corp housing, well, you get it.  Now we just have to move out of the corp housing and into our house.  All of our furniture, majority of our clothes, etc. has been in storage since June and I think we are all looking forward to having our own bed/crib back.

Rowan was to his new doctor when he turned 18 months at the end of July and she is fantastic.  He is continuing to grow very fast and seems to be doing all that he is supposed to be doing at this age.  Mom needs to be better about letting him make a mess of himself and use the spoons and forks.  He loves to play with them and is making great strides at actually getting some food in his mouth.  I worry that he will have more food on himself than in his belly!  Rowan has gotten to enjoy playing in Boston Common, eating some gelato from the North End and has had a wonderful time living in a much smaller space (no stairs means nothing is ever off limits).  Hope you all had a great summer and I will post new pictures when we get our site subscription set up again.  Always something!!

June 2 - Busy, busy, busy....And this time I really do mean it!  :)  Dave's graduation and Rowan's baptism went wonderfully.  It was such a great weekend for us all and I must say, as the mom and wife, I was a very happy lady.  I'm so proud of Dave for getting his MBA through all of the craziness that is our life.  I cannot imagine how hard it was to be in class at night and doing work on the weekends knowing he had a new baby at home.  Although I'm sure I let him know from time to time just how hard it was ;-)  And having Rowan baptized was very special as well.  We really like the church and Rev. Munson was great with him and so patient.  I am glad Grandma Krantz was out to help me with all of it and to enjoy some big milestones.  Rowan is working on talking more and more every day and I have been trying to teach him sign language which he seems to love and pick up on very quickly.

Of course, in between all of this, we were dealing with home showings and keeping the house spotless with a 1 year old.  For those who haven't heard, we are heading back to Boston.  We had always said that should the opportunity ever present itself, Boston is the only place we would ever move away from Colorado for.  Well, the opportunity came by way of a great career move for Dave so we are off.  We will be out there by June 15th so we have a very busy week ahead of us.  We are so excited to get back to the east coast!!  I think we will really miss the mountains, but who doesn't love the ocean?!  Now we just need to find a house....  Hope you enjoy the newest pictures!

May 3 - A month has gone by so fast!  Rowan is now 15 months old if you can believe it.  It seems like in the past month he has really grown up a lot.  Really starting to communicate with us and on the go all the time.  I still think it is so cute to see him running around.  He absolutely loves to be outside and cries when it is time to come inside for naps or meals.  The Easter Bunny made a small appearance this year, but still no egg hunt (mom's fault for that--who doesn't have plastic eggs the day before Easter???).  We did get him this cool tunnel and some stacking toys though.  I think next year will be a whole different story!  His other favorite thing to do right now is shake his head 'yes' to just about everything we ask.  In the past couple of days, we have seen some more 'no' head shaking, but he is still trying to figure out what it all means and more so what the result of his answer will be.

We have a big week ahead of us....Dave is graduating with his MBA on Friday (we are so proud of him) and then on Sunday, Rowan is going to be baptized.  It has taken us a while to find a church that fit in with what we were looking for to be honest.  I kept asking them if it was too late, do they really have 15 month olds being baptized and they assured me it is never too late.  I am glad that it is finally working out for us and Rowan.  Hope everyone is enjoying spring!

April 5 -  We had such a great time in Moab last week.  It was amazing to get away and enjoy some time with my boys.  So I am NOT a camper at all and there is this great lodge type place that we stay in out there that is still sort of rustic, but has my requirements of a bathroom and running water...momma don't do pit toilets and no showering!  Anyway, the trip went very well, the 'Rowan carrier' worked out fabulously (too bad I didn't get the hang of it until after my shoulders were super sore).  Rowan seemed to have a pretty good time.  It was a lot of time driving and he would get antsy at times, but it was easy to get him to start laughing and be entertained.  Speaking of a lot of driving...so we were eating breakfast on our last day there and had the news on.  Well, it just so happens that they mention a blizzard warning for Denver....yeah!  Never have we moved so fast to get an entire trip packed up, showered and out the door to try to beat the storm.  It was quite the drive (turned a 5 1/2 hour trip into almost 9) but luckily Dave was a champ and did all the driving home and Rowan was awesome about being in his car seat that long.  Awe memories!  I am uploading a ton of photos so you can see not only Rowan, but some of the trip as well.  Hope you enjoy!

March 22 - Rowan has been a super busy little boy since he has started walking.  For a few days, he thought he was ready to run!  He quickly learned that slowing down just a bit meant he could actually walk around.  I think he is really enjoying being up and walking.  It is still strange to see this little guy walking around with us.  Dave and I laugh so hard some nights when he is in the family room showing off his skills.  Last week one night he started walking in circles until he was so dizzy he couldn't stand up.  We were all laughing at this new move!  He's also working really hard on talking.  Rowan is a cheese lover so he has mastered 'cheese' and of course he loves his baths, so he can say 'bath' very well.  Some others are bread, puffs, bear, bed, baseball, and shoes.  Are you seeing a theme with the 'b' words?  He has also figured out that when he hides a toy, I will ask him where did it go?  So now he will go hide something and then put his arms up to say where did it go.  They just learn so much so fast at this age, it is amazing.

We are off to our second annual trip to Moab tomorrow.  We can't wait to get away for a little bit.  Just think, last time we were out there Rowan was just 9 weeks old!  This time he will be walking around with us enjoying the views a little more.  We got a great kids carrier yesterday so he can ride up on our shoulders and look out over the top of us while we are hiking.  He absolutely loved it in the store and had the sales guy wanting to have kids because he was being such a cutie!

Feb. 26 - So I started to make some updates the other day and then Rowan woke up so I didn't get a chance to add new pictures.  Today is an exciting day for us.  Earlier, Rowan finally started to take steps all by himself.  He has been standing alone for some time, just hasn't made that move forward.  I think it will be so strange to see this little person walking around with us.  Rowan was so proud of himself today.  I think he still has a few days of taking it slow, but if it is anything like crawling, within days he will really be on the move.  He enjoys going up and now down the stairs more than anything right now.  Down isn't so smooth, but he is really trying and thinks it is funny to have to roll around to not fall down them.  Scares me to death!  I understand why mothers need nerves of steel to get through this.  Rowan is also a VERY picky eater.  So many of our other friends say their kids eat anything that is put in front of them...not Rowan.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear about it.  Dave and I are near wits end with him.  If he could live on mandarine oranges, Cheerios and cheese, he would be all set!
Comments
Well Steph, Noah is a picky eater. All he eats is spaghetti, hot dogs and chicken. So try that. Other than that good luck

Yeah to Rowan on taking your first steps!! It is all downhill from here. Running is next! As far as being picky, try chicken nuggets, little meatballs, fresh pears or grilled cheese. Those are some of Levi's favorites! Good luck!

Feb. 7 - Well, our first birthday has come and gone.  Whew!  It was a little bit crazy there for a while, but things are starting to get back to normal.  We were sorry that Grandma and Grandpa Krantz had to leave so suddenly, but had a great time with them while they were here visiting.  Rowan enjoyed having someone to play with other than his boring mom that he has to spend every day with :)  We have been enjoying fabulous weather in Colorado and have been out playing every day.  I am sure it is just a matter of time before we finally get nailed with a bunch of snow.  Thanks for all of the birthday wishes for Rowan!

Jan. 28 - Almost 1 year old?  Really?  What the heck happened to time?  It has been a great year full of surprise, happiness, worry, confusion, just about all of the emotions one person can feel.  And the best part is that I wouldn't change any of it for the world.  Rowan has changed mine and Dave's lives in so many wonderful ways it is amazing.  So what if the first time Dave and I actually got to go out to dinner by ourselves was just this past weekend (yeah, I know but I am attached to the little guy, what can I say?).  Rowan has been the best baby I could have ever hoped for and has been the biggest blessing in my life.  I really cannot believe how much they change in a year...and I am even more excited for what the next one has in store.  I'll get some pics of Rowan's little birthday celebration this coming weekend posted soon (I hope).

Jan. 5 - What a crazy couple of weeks!  We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's.  Our holidays were great and I will always remember Rowan's first Christmas.  It was so nice to have my mom and dad out here to celebrate with us and get to see Rowan start to figure out how to walk.  He has mastered being able to hold onto his toy trucks and do laps around the kitchen and family room, it is so cute to see!  I should also add it is exhausting chasing after a little boy who is starting to walk....Dave and I have to run around with him because he can't turn the trucks yet.  I thought he would have a harder time on our hardwood floors, but nothing seems to slow him down.  Dave is planning to get the video updated today too so you all can see how big Rowan is really getting.  Only a few short weeks from him turning 1 year old.  I can't believe a year has gone by in such a flash!  Enjoy all the new pictures of our little guy.

Dec. 17 - Is it Christmas yet or what?  Rowan doesn't even know what is going on and I am so excited!  We have been crazy busy getting ready for Santa.  I just wanted to get some new pictures updated since it might be a little while before I get to this again.  We have family in town next week and then hopefully we will get to see some friends that will be in town...should make for some great pics after the holidays and things settle down again.  We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!  2008 has been great!!!

Dec. 4 - Great timing...Rowan's winter coat was delivered yesterday and we got lots of snow overnight.  I was so excited for him to go and play in it and he hated it!  He isn't sure he likes his coat and even more sure he isn't a big fan of the blowing snow.  One of these days he will get up nagging me to hurry up and go out and play in it, but that day is not today or maybe even this winter.  Oh well, I tried.

Nov. 30 - Happy Thanksgiving!  (A few days late, but you get the idea.)  Rowan is 10 months old today.  I can't believe that we are getting so close to him being 1 already.  The time is flying, plus I always think this time of the year goes by super fast anyway.  We are busy getting ready for Christmas out here and finally got our first snow yesterday.  I have been waiting for this since the end of October (many of you may think I am nuts) so it was awesome to wake up to a very white neighborhood!  It probably has to do with being able to stay home and not having to commute to work in it, which would make it hateful.  Rowan didn't get to go out and play in it because his mother is slacking in the winter clothing area of his life.  It has been so warm here that I just didn't think it was a priority.  Ooops!  So once he gets his winter gear, then I can get him out in that snow to play.  Rowan is on his feet a lot these days, not walking around yet, but cruising around like it's his job.  He is also starting to be more verbal (definitely has momma down pat and can mumble baseball--helps that he already knows ball).  Dad is working very hard on dadda ;)  Maybe by Christmas!  My favorite thing he is learning lately is giving kisses....so it is kinda gross since what he is doing is opening his drooley mouth and pressing it against your cheek (or mouth or nose, whatever he can aim for and hit), but there is nothing like a slobbery baby kiss I must say.  Hope you all had a great holiday!

Nov. 4 - I have taken so many pictures of Rowan lately and have been lazy about getting them posted so everyone can see them.  I think that ever since he started moving around more, there has just been more to take pictures of.  Rowan is doing great with the crawling and pulling himself up to standing (on everything he can get his little paws on--whether it will hold him or not).  We've had plenty of bumps and some bruises, but overall, not too bad.  He just started today with putting his feet under himself while playing and crawling around.  I think it is funny how their bodies seem to start getting the hang of the next step before they even really realize what they are doing.  He has tried a couple of times to let go of what he is holding onto, but then ends up on his rear.  I think the member of this household that is least amused with Rowan's new talents is Mezzo, our cat.  Rowan chases the poor cat everywhere until he finally gets ahold of his tail.  Poor Mezz, but he just keeps coming back for more.

Rowan's 9 month check-up was Saturday morning and he is doing fantastic!  He's a very healthy little guy and growing fast.  I just can't believe that the next time we will be going in for his regular check-up will be when he is a year old....where has the year gone??

Oct. 26 - We (thanks Dave) finally got video on our website.  For whatever reason, our home computer was having issues with it and today he finally tried it with his work lap top and it worked!  Depending on how fast your computer downloads the link, you may have to let the video download and then hit play after it goes through it once (ours is kinda quirky so we have to do this).  Hopefully it works for everyone and you get a chance to check out Rowan Live!  Enjoy.

Oct. 20 - Well, the day has finally come.  Rowan is officially on the move.  Yesterday after dinner he decided he wanted to be on the other side of the room to play and off he went.  It was the cutest thing ever to see him finally crawling.  His other new trick has been standing up in his crib.  On Saturday morning I was walking over to his room and all of a sudden realized I heard his mobile--this was a scarey thing to realize.  I walk in and there he was smiling at me so proud of what he had learned.  We are pretty sure he has been doing this for some time now and he is just now getting caught in the act.  Apparently he has mastered his techniques in his crib and decided to start pulling up on the furniture today.  Dave was laughing saying he will go from crawling to cruising around the furniture in a week.  He was holding him up this weekend with his fingers and Rowan is getting really good with his balance and taking steps.  I can't believe how fast these milestones seem to go.  You seem to wait and wait for things to happen and then it actually happens.  Too bad teeth don't appear as fast!

We are very sad that the Red Sox didn't make it to the World Series, but it was a good lesson for Rowan that your team doesn't always win.  Now if only mom & dad could get over it.

Oct. 1 - I guess you can see from the pictures that Rowan is really getting the pulling up to standing thing down pat.  8 months seems to be a pretty great age.  He is so much fun to play with and has really started getting opinions about toys.  I was so right about the teeth thing...one of his top teeth finally broke through Sept. 20 (and him being a trooper about it all went out the window pretty much as soon as I updated this site).  We are working on the other tooth now so hopefully we will be through another teething phase any day now.  Our next adventure is heading to a pumpkin patch to find Rowan his first pumpkin.
