7.15.09 Well it's about time for another update!  Gaeton is 7 1/2 months already.  Time has flown by so fast!  The twins will be turning 5 in two months.  Thank goodness for late birthdays.  They won't be starting public school till next year.  I'm happy to have them home for another year.  They have been having a great summer at home.  We decided to take them out of their Montessori school for the summer and hire a nanny.  We ended up getting lucky and Grandma took the job instead.  They have been swimming with Uncle Kyle all summer and are all nice and tan. They start back August 24th I believe and I know they will be happy to see their friends again.

We were able to get away and sneak off to Austin for 4th of July weekend.  Thanks to Aunt Shara for the hook-up at The Omni!  She got us a suite and it was very nice.  Traveling with Gaeton is so much less stressful than with the boys as babies and he's such a trooper, but having a full kitchen and all that space really helped make the trip so much more relaxing.

My cake business is really taking off now and I'm busy every weekend now.  I had to turn down three cake orders to get away to Austin.  I hated to do it, but needed a cake-free weekend.  Danny's business is really growing too.  We have more guys in the office now and he's been traveling to Dallas to grow that branch.  I have been working at the office Monday-Wednesday and working on my cakes Thursday-Saturday.  Busy Bee!  Thank goodness for Grandma.  She's been a real help!  This weekend should be another typical crazy weekend at home.  On Friday, we have our new bedroom furniture being delivered, Danny comes back into town, Peeps and Kim are coming in for the weekend and want to go to Splashtown, and I have two cakes to make.  We will see how I pull this one off!  Wish me luck.  Oh, and check out my cakes when you get a chance at www.tammycakes.net

Awww...somehow I deleted the story from Jan!  OOOPS!

6.11.08  Well, 9 months have flown by.  We are excited to announce we are expecting another kiddo in December 2008.  I am 14 weeks along now, so it's a little early to tell the sex of the baby yet.  The boys are pretty excited.  Everytime you ask if they want it to be a brother or a sister they change their mind.  Pirce says he wants to rock and feed the baby.  I guess he will be my little helper.  Ryne just wants to play with "her".

Danny's business has kept us so busy lately we haven't had time for much else.  I think we might take off to Dallas this weekend just for a change of scenery.  There is a big resort with a waterpark up there Danny wants to take the boys to.  The boys have been "swimming" in their blow-up pool out back since summer started.  the first time they got a pretty good burn, and they learned that it wasn't so fun.  Now they don't hesitate to let me cover them in sunblock first.

I will try to keep everyone update on how the pregnancy is going and the highlights of our summer.  We have a new computer and all of the newer photos are on the old hard drive, so I hope to have new pictures up soon when I figure out where they were saved.

9.22.07 This past weekend was the last for visiting Splashtown.  They boys should know that place by heart now.  Pierce was first to discover the freedom of wearing a life jacket.  His favorite thing was floating around the lazy river and paddling himself in circles.  Ryne took a little longer to realize he could let go of mom and dad and be just fine.  Next summer they will be ready for the swim team, well almost!  Hope everyone had a great summer!

9.10.07 Well, I've finally finished Culinary School and hopefully will have much more time to keep this site updated.  We will see if I can fit it in between making cakes every weekend, and helping Danny out at the office.  :)

1.10.07 We returned from New Mexico on Monday, and what a great trip it was!  The boys took their first flight and did very well thanks to the DVD player and Spongebob.  As soon as we walked out of the airport doors in Albuquerque, the boys went straight for the snow.  They were so amazed by all of the "ice" as they called it.  I think PaPa had a pretty good birthday this year playing in the snow with the boys too.  We all agreed that Santa Fe was a cool little town unlike any place we had ever been.  There were some beautiful churches and really neat adobe pueblo style homes all through the mountains.  I never knew that New Mexico was so beautiful.  We may just have to go back next winter.

9.15.06  Well, it's been 6 months already so I figure it's time for an update...

We just celebrated the boys' 2nd birthday last Sunday.  They have more trucks and cars now than you could imagine.  We want to thank everyone for coming to the party to help us celebrate, and for all of the great gifts!  They ended up coming down with a nasty virus right after the party, poor things!

Aunt Shara, the boys, and I went out to visit the house today.  Everything is moving along so fast now.  They just finished putting in the carpet and the wood flooring.  It all looks so beautiful together.  I'm glad cause it was hard for me trying to pick everything out and imagine what it would look like completed.  The completion date is going to be sometime mid October (that's only a month away).  It's a little sooner than we expected, but I'm so excited to finally see it completed.  Danny and I layed in bed last night discussing furnishing the place and didn't go to sleep until two!  We will definitely have everyone over as soon as we get settled in, so check back for another update soon!

March 30, 2006

Today was Tammy's 28th birthday and the boys and I surprised her with a big ol puppy dog. Actually, we haven't picked it up yet, he's not quite ready to move to his new home. Coupled with the fact that he is still living with his momma and daddy, brothers and sisters in Oklahoma, we won't be officially welcoming him home until April the 10th. Tammy has wanted a puppy for several months now and I was going to wait until we moved into the new house. However, the boys are 18 months now and could probably use a new playmate. They are growing so fast and learning new words every day. "Ball, No, Uh Oh, Shank You, Juice, Bob Bob (Sponge Bob), Moon, Shoes and Oh Gosh" are the most popular sayings between the two of them these days. Of course, they have their own language that they speak to each other and seem to fully comprehend.

We expect "puppy" to be added to the vocabulary very soon. Tammy's birthday present is an English Mastiff. He's just a puppy now, but will grow to become part dog, part horse. His father is 220 pounds and his mother is 170 pounds. The boys might be getting saddles for Christmas this year. There is a photo of our puppy on the main page of Bigboymastiffs.com along with his father. We are all so excited about our new edition.

The form has been set for our house and the slab should be poured in the next week or two. It looks as if it'll be done and we'll be moving in sometime around Thanksgiving. Uncle Doug and Aunt Carolann will be coming to visit in a couple of weeks and hopefully will be picking out their lot and floorplan to join us in the new neighborhood.

The boys will be starting school at Woodlands Montessori sometime in April and Tammy is thrilled. For 18 months she has been the most incredible mother any child could hope to have. The boys are healthy, happy and secure with mommy, but we felt it was best that we put them in an environment that supports peaceful social relationships and enhances the likelihood of reaching their full academic potential. The month of April obviously holds some significant changes at home, so wish us luck.

2.22.06  The boys have finally gotten a chance to meet their Uncle Doug. It took them about 10 minutes to warm up to him and his Donald Duck impression. They are at such an incredible age and do things on a daily basis that leave us all scratching our heads. If we had a dollar for everyone that has told us how lucky we were having twins, we'd have quite a college fund already. Watching them laugh at each other, push each other, chase each other, bite each other and fight over whatever toy the other one is holding is really quite comical. They always know where the other one is, but never have to look. Dancing has become a favorite activity, and not just for them. We turn on the music and the boys put on quite a show. Ryne instantly begins jerking his shoulders back and forth and in a circular motion as he stomps his feet one after the other and Pierce places both of his hands at the top of his thighs and does a little jig very similar to the River Dance. It is absolutely hilarious.

The house is coming along and will hopefully be done by the end of summer. We are all so excited. The boys are using all of their charm on Uncle Doug and we're hoping that the Haas family will be our new neighbors real soon.

We hope that everyone got their Valentine's cards from the boys and that each of you had a very special day. The boys are gearing up for their first Easter Egg hunt, so stay tuned for the photos to come.

11.17.05  We had our first fire in the fireplace tonight.  The boys were in awe.  We had to break out the playpen to eat dinner so the boys wouldn't jump in with the fire.  Ryne was loving the warmth and his little face was all red.  It's been in the 30s at night here, and the boys are finally enjoying all of their new long sleeved clothes.

Ryne has been starting to get the hang of this walking thing his brother thinks is so cool.  They are both doing so well.  Our waitress at breakfast the other morning had twins who were a little older than the boys, and offered some good advice.  She said, "Always go after the fastest or farthest first, and grab the other guy on your way back.  I wish someone would have told me this.  I learned the hard way!"

10.24.05

We went to the Oil Ranch today with Grandma, Aunt Stephanie, and Colten.  The boys had a blast petting and feeding all of the animals. They enjoyed the hayride too, but it was a little chilly going so early.  They were a little too young for the pony rides and playgrounds, but they will be ready next year!  Their favorite part was sitting in the middle of hundreds of pumpkins.  I put them down to take a picture, but the battery in the camera was dead.  They were laughing and banging on the pumpkins.  They each got to pick one out to bring home.

Pierce has been walking so well.  Ryne is still being lazy.  If you try to stand him up, he just bends his knees.  He has to do it HIMSELF.  Talk about taking after Daddy!  Pierce runs around pushing a dumptruck through the house making sound effects for the engine.  It's amazing how fast he can go.

The boys still don't like grass.  I try to put them down in the grass to play, but the look at me like I'm crazy.  They act like a cat in water.  Water, however, I can't keep them out of.  We have two little fish.  They cry till I get them in the bath, and scream more when I try to take them out.  I guess you can't expalin to a 13 month-old that they've been in there for an hour, and if they stay much longer they will be so wrinkled we won't recognize them.

We still need to get them Halloween costumes.  I had my heart set on making them "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" from   The Cat in the Hat, but all they have left is silly looking ones where the coustume head is on top of theirs.  You would just have to see it.  It doesn't look right at all.  Maybe they will be little Knight Riders with Aunt Shara.  Just kidding Aunt Shara!

The boys had a wonderful birthday and we truly appreciate the more than 50 people that showed up for their party. We feel so fortunate to have so many family and friends that are part of our lives'. The boys are still discovering all of their new toys and Tammy has just added to the number of things she has to pick up, install batteries in and put back together on a daily basis. We also send our thanks to the grandparents, aunts & uncles and friends that couldn't make it to the party. The boys' piggy banks are getting pretty heavy. Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to an even more exciting birthday party next September.

8.19.05 We've been through a heck of a lot this last couple of weeks!  I just wanted to thank everyone for the support and kind words.  It means a lot to us.  We were both pretty upset about the miscarriage, but time heals and we know we will have another opportunity when it is right.  The boys have been a handful, which keeps me busy non-stop.  We are getting settled into the house.  I couldn't wait to have more room, now I just have to chase the boys even farther.  I decided I want to live in a box.  I could see them at all times.  Their new favorite thing to try and give us a heart attack is to climb up the step in front of the jacuzzi tub and peek into it.  I am so afraid we will leave the door open just once and have them take a tumble into the tub.  I never realized how scary raising a couple of curious boys could be.  They have already become very interested in toilets...but we've caught them fast enough everytime (so far) before the hand touches the water.  I guess that's next on the "child-proofing" list.  The boys are also very competitive.  They fight over everything...and nothing.  Pierce tends to like to push Ryne backwards so he can listen to him cry when his head hits the floor.  Ryne scratches and pokes quite a bit.  He also likes to wait till Pierce is pulling up on something, then take out his knees with a karate chop.  They are really sneaky...of course that and the competitiveness comes from Daddy.  I have also found the joy of Cheerios.  What is it about Cheerios that every kid loves?  They usually cry when they first get up till I shove a bottle in their mouths, but now I just throw em some Cheerios till I'm ready, and voila...peace and quiet.  I think I may love the Cheerios more.

7.18.05  Both boys have five teeth now!  I have been cutting up different fruits and veggies into cubes and letting them try to feed themselves.  It's a huge mess, but cute.  I need to get pictures of that next time.

Pierce has been pulling up since last week.  I can hear him giggling in the room when he's supposed to be napping, and when I walk in he's standing up trying to get Ryne's attention.  They communicate so much more now.  They are starting to have their own little language.  They both say Momma and Da-Da now.  Oh, and when I shake my head no, Pierce does it back to me.  It's so funny.

6.30.05 We went back to the Orthotist today and he had some good news.  Ryne willl not have to wear his helmet the full three months.  His head is shaping so nicely that we will probably be done in a couple of weeks.  It is so hard to get in to see our craniofacial doctor, the appointment I made today for the soonest possible  time is for July 26th.

The boys are getting their fangs in now, and they have been so fussy.  I think they are just about done with this round.  We have three through the skin already and just waiting on Pierce's left one to poke through.

6.15.05 The boys are teething again and we are anxious to see which chompers they get next.  They still both only have their bottom two so far.  They have been eating little fruit puffs and stuff that kinda disolves in their mouth and our neighbor gave them a couple of dried canberries ( I was scared they would choke but they didn't!).  The doc gave us the okay to feed them meat (which they really don't like yet!) so I've been getting creative and mixing it with different things to sneak it into their diet.  They turned 9 months on Monday (adjusted age 7 1/2 months).  They are already off of the preemie chart and in the 25/50 percentile.  They weigh 18 and 19 lbs.  Time for carseat upgrades.  We know they will be tall with parents that are 6'2" and 5'8".  Right now they are 27 and 28 inches.

6.6.05 I am so proud of Ryne.  He got his helmet on the 27th and has slept in it every night.  He doesn't even care it's there.  It makes it a lot easier on us that he sleeps well and it never bothered him.  We went back on the 3rd to let them check out how it was fitting and now we go back every two weeks to check it.  The people at OPA in the Woodlands have been very nice.  The only thing is the smell.  I have to wipe it out with alcohol every day because it gets real stinky!  Another mom told me to use Loreal Watermelon Shampoo to cover the smell.  I guess I'd rather he small like a watermelon than funk.

5.19.05 The boys took their first trip to the swimming pool and loved it.  Ryne wanted to take off!  If I would have let go of him, he would have been like a little frog.  It was amazing how coordinated his movements were.  Pierce was more interested in floating around in Dad's arms.  He's gonna be a sunbather like his daddy.

5.18.05  I'm so glad we never have to go through that again!  Ryne's appointment went pretty well for what it was I guess.  They had to do a mold of his head.  First they put a sock over his whole head and cut a hole for his mouth.  Then they had to use stips of plaster (like they use for casts) and cover his head to get the shape exact.  He was freaking out to say the least!  Danny had to hold down his little arms and hands so he wouldn't try and pull the thing off.  It was so hard.  Danny was about ready to just yell, "OK, stop!  You're scaring my boy!"  It must have been really scary having his eyes and ears covered.  They were trying to get him to suck on a lollypop through the hole they cut, but he obviously had other things on his mind.  Well, at least that's over and we never had to do it again.  I'm just glad it wasn't Pierce.  It would have been twice as bad.  He's so much stronger and gets really mad sometimes.

They overnighted the cast to Arizona where the helmet will be made, and we should hear back in about a week or so when it is sent to the office in the Woodlands.  They will do a fitting to make sure it fits perfect, then we will have to visit once a week to adjust  it for a while. Pierce can't wait to decorate his brother's new accessory.

5.12.05 Ryne has an appointment on Tuesday the 17th for a molding to be done of his head.  This is taking longer than I expected!  He will have his helmet sometime before the end of the month.  OPA in the Woodlands is the only place in Houston that does these helmets, so I figure they are pretty busy.
