Wow, this is the longest I've gone in a VERY long time without an update!  Life hasn't slowed down a bit at our house and it's hard to believe we will be saying goodbye to January already!  Most weeknights and weekends find us very busy these days.  Joey and Renee both have basketball practice during the week.  Joey goes to a pitching clinic every Saturday morning with Dad, which leaves Mom to taxi Renee to her basketball games with the other children.  Some Saturday mornings we need to leave the house by 7:30 a.m. to arrive at the games on time, which can be quite challenging to say the least.  We have even been known to encourage wearing your clothes to bed for the next day just to get out of the house on time!  On a school day Jesse and Rebecca are used to getting UP at 7:30 a.m. so we do what we have to do!  Rebecca has started indoor soccer on Sunday afternoons.  She absolutely LOVES it!  Today she and a teammate kicked the ball at the same time into the goal.  It was Rebecca's first and she was beaming!  Joey is also in basketball, but his games are played during the week.  He is enjoying it as well, but baseball is still his first love.  He is already looking forward to spring so he can get back outside and play.  The weather here is not warm enough to be outside for any length of time.  We haven't gotten any packing snow lately to build a snowman, so we are just trying to enjoy the white stuff.  At the rate time is flying, spring should be here in no time!

In just a month, our little man is going to be turning 5 years old.  He is quite excited for that to happen.  His Mommy and Daddy aren't sure how to feel.  We are so proud of how big he's getting and all the new things he can do, but sad at the same time that everyone is growing up SO fast.  We continue to cherish everyday and be thankful for each and one!

I'll work on posting more pictures soon!

So hard to believe that Christmas is upon us.  I have no idea where 2008 went, but by looking at the kids, it is so clear to see all the growing that has gone on in the last year.  We continue to be so incredibly blessed to have a wonderful family and some of the best friends anyone could ask for.  Life is good...

Last Sunday was the Christmas pagent at church.  The play they did this year was called "The Best Christmas Present Ever."  Joseph was one of the wisemen, Renee played the angel Gabriel, Rebecca was a child on Christmas morning, and Jesse was a shepherd.  Joey and Renee had speaking parts, and Rebecca even had some lines this year.  She even got two extra lines when one of the children decided not to be in the program.  She was quite nervous about it but did a great job!  The play turned out really cute and everyone did a great job!  It's always one of my favorite holiday things to see the children tell the story of Jesus!

Joey was also alcolyting on Sunday.  Having lit the three previous advent candles the three prior weeks, he was quite excited to be able to light all four.  At the end of the service, he went to extinguish the candles and bumped a branch on the churches Christmas tree on the altar.  The tree was not standing very sturdy, because although he barely brushed it, the tree started to tip over.  Joey quickly reached out, as if he would be able to stop the HUGE tree from falling over.  The look on his face was absolutely priceless as the tree hit the ground and he turned to us in disbelief wondering what to do next.  If I would have been faster on my feet, I would have taken a picture because we were sitting in the front row and had the perfect view!  It will certainly be something we will all remember and laugh about for many years to come... Thank goodness there were no candles lit when the tree went down!

Back in October, Renee had a vision.  She had decided that it would be really nice if every child who was sick at Children's Hosptial this Christmas would get a Webkinz to help make their day a little brighter.  Webkinz are stuffed animals that can be logged in and played with in the virtual world of Webkinz.  When Renee first started talking about it, I wasn't sure it was possible to do what she was envisioning.  I called Children's Hospital to find out how many children are usually there at any given time, and to make sure they would take a donation like that.  I was told they would expect anywhere between 150-170 children to be hospitalized and they thought the Webkinz were a wonderful idea.  150-170 Webkinz sounded like an awful lot to get, but Renee was sure it could be done.  It became her goal to collect atleast 150 Webkinz.  She started making weekly announcements at school asking children to bring a Webkinz to donate, and updating how many she had.  She also asked her church family if they would be willing to donate as well.  She distributed flyers and even did a 411 call to everyone's home in our school district.  With every Webkinz she brought home, the possiblity got a little closer.  By the beginning of December, she had 100 and was so excited!  When she hit 150, she was thrilled!  When her Uncle Dale and Aunt Sandy, along with Uncle Jeff and Aunt Wendy bought the motherload of Webkinz, she surpassed her expectations!  She was absolutely elated to deliver 193 Webkinz to Children's Hosptial last night.  We are so incredibly proud of our little girl, who just amazes us all the time!  At 11 years old, she is already making a difference in our world!  Way to go Renee!

Wishing everyone a VERY Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2009.  Hope your holidays are filled with lots of love surrounded by those most dear to you!

With love from the Schauer Family,

Kristin, Steve, Joseph, Renee, Rebecca & Jesse

Happy 7th Birthday Rebecca!

Dear Rebecca,

Wow, another year has quickly gone by and now you're seven.  You continue to grow by leaps and bounds!  Your front teeth are nearly completely in and you've lost seven of your baby teeth already.  You continue to act older than you really are.  I wish you'd stop being in such a hurry to grow up and just enjoy being a little girl.  This past year you've learned how ride a two wheeler bike, tie your shoes, swim, and your reading has improved greatly.  Your handwriting is just beautiful, and your imagination shows through in each of the masterpieces you create daily.   You continue to tackle each day with more enthusiasm than most.  The room lights up when you walk into it, and the house is a little too quiet when you're not home.  You bless our family daily with your singing, dancing, stories, and laughter.  You are always full of compliments, and over the last year I have noticed how in tune you've become to your Mommy and Daddy's feelings.  If you notice we are getting upset about something involving your brothers or sister, you are quick to offer a loving word in an attempt to distract us.  It usually has something to do with telling us how nice we are, or how great of a Mommy/Daddy we are.  You are always able to bring a smile to our face, and warm our hearts.  Your teacher describes you as a leader in your class, and you do very well in school.  You never complain about going anymore, which makes it much easier to see you off in the mornings.  You always run to me to give me one last hug and kiss in the morning before you board the school bus, no matter how many times we've already said our good-byes.  This year you have taken on the big sister role of walking Jesse to his class in the morning, a role your sister proudly had with you until she went to middle school.  You take your new role very seriously, but tend to take a little too long hanging out with your brother and his teachers, who you love dearly.  You were so excited for it to be your birthday, and you are equally excited for it to be Christmas.  You plan to ask Santa for a Ninendo DS, because according to you, Santa always brings what you ask for...

We are looking forward to seeing what this next year brings your way!  We love you more than words could ever say Angel Face!

Love you forever,

Mommy

November 19, 2008

It's hard to believe that we are half way through November already.  Rebecca is getting quite excited for her 7th birthday next week, and all the kids are getting excited that Christmas is just around the corner.

There isn't too much news going on.  Renee has started her basketball season.  So far she's only had one practice, and her first game is in December.  Joey doesn't start basketball until after the New Year, which is a good thing because that means Saturday morning games for just one.  I think the next month is going to be crazy enough!

Funny of the week:

I was writing down the social security numbers for all of our kids.   Renee came over and asked what I was doing.  When I explained it to her, she looked at me and said, "I have a social security number?"  "You sure do, " I told her.  "Oh cool!  That means I can retire!", she replied.

MMM I wonder if the Social Security office will fall for that!! Great Idea Renee

Our Authors In The Making...

Renee and Rebecca recently submitted stories to Riveredge Nature Center for their first annual writing contest.  The stories needed to be nature themed, not more than 750 words, double spaced, with no more than 10 original illustrations, none computer generated.  The girls each got a postcard in the mail a couple of weeks ago inviting them to attend a writer's reception to honor all the children who submitted stories.  Each child got a certificate and a bottle of Riveredge Nature Center maple syrup, which is considered to be a local favorite.  After that, they read the names of the chosen winners from each individual age group.  We were very proud to hear Renee's name called for the 11-12 age group.  Her book entitled "Minzi's New Home" was the judges choice for first place.  In addition to having her name called, Renee sat in front of the large group of people and read her story!  She has sure come out of her shell these last couple of years!  I was not happy with myself for forgetting my camera, but was able to talk one of the Riveredge people into emailing me the pictures that he took.  I will post them when I get them!

Long Overdue Update...

I keep meaning to write an update and even upload a picture or two, but the time keeps getting away from me.  I can't believe we are almost to the end of October already.  We have been keeping very busy with a packed October schedule.  Everytime I think that things will start to slow down a bit, they get even busier.  This past weekend found us going to the pumpkin farm, a neighbors haunted trail, and the Zoo.  Steve's company sponsored a day at the Milwaukee County Zoo for their employees, complete with lunch and a gift bag for the kids.  The weather was on the cooler side, but beautiful and all the animals were active which was so much fun.  It was a fun filled weekend focusing completely on the kids, which of course they loved!

Today our masculine 13 year old son Joseph left for school in a skirt and shirt of his sisters, and a pony tail in his hair.  Today is "Opposite day" at school, and Joseph is obviously comfortable enough in his own skin to pretty himself up for the day.  I did draw the line at giving him one of my bra's to stuff.  Maybe I'm not as open minded as I should be, but I didn't think that was necessary!   Renee borrowed her brothers clothes as well and went to school as a boy today.  I think it's much easier for a girl to pull that off than a boy.  Earlier this week, I got an emergency phone call from school regarding Joseph.  He had been hit in the head by a drumstick that was thrown at him during band class.  Thank goodness it was "Hat day" at school, because he was wearing a baseball hat, which I'm sure absorbed some of the impact.  The drumstick hit him so hard that it cut his head through his hat.  The school nurse recommended taking him to the doctor to see if he required a stitch or two, but once it stopped bleeding, nurse Mommy decided he's had worse.  It's healing nicely and although he wasn't able to put two ponytails up high today, for the most part it isn't bothering him too much.

Jesse, Jesse, Jesse...  what to say about our little man.  He certainly continues to keep us on our toes, and what works one day, won't necessarily work the next.  Right now our biggest struggle has been staying on task in the mornings and getting ready for school without being naughty.  This is a child who really hasn't had to get up and out the door very often during his first four years of life.  Some days can be quite a struggle.  It doesn't help that his cousin Trevor comes over every morning and once Trevor is done with breakfast, he starts to play.  I have to remind myself that Jesse is only four, and playing with one of your favorite cousins is far more fun than getting ready for school.  He has made huge strides from even six months ago, so in some respects I'm very happy with the progress he is making.  He is loving school and gets off the school bus with a BIG smile on his face everyday.  His teachers tell me that he's starting to feel very comfortable there.  So comfortable in fact, that he has started testing the boundries, and today even wound up with a time-out.  Hoping his behavior gets better at home and at school.

In other news, Renee has decided to launch a Webkins/Lil' kins drive.  She is going to be collecting them at her middle school and the elementary school, along with our church in the hopes of delivering them to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee this Christmas.  She would love to dress up like Santa Claus and go room to room to pass them out, but I think she is just going to have to settle with dropping them off at the front desk.  We are very proud of her for wanting to help sick children.  We are hoping for a wonderful turn-out so each and every child who is hospitalized at Children's this Christmas, will get a surprise!

G-O-O-G-L-E

The other day I was telling the kids that I was told that a "google" is a number.  It is a 1 with 100 zeros after it.  The kids had said they had never heard of that, so I told Renee she should "Google it" to see if she could find it.  She pulls up Google on our browser and then looks at me and asks, "How do you spell Google?"

Did I mention she's a straight A student?

October 8, 2008

Thank goodness Renee and I have had "the talk" about the birds and the bees already.  One would have thought it would have helped me from stuttering when she decided to throw a question at me that I would have thought would have been easy to answer...

Renee:  What's a virgin?

Mommy: (thinking this is going to be a snap to answer)  It's someone who has never had sex before.

Renee:  Like the Virgin Mary?

Mommy:  Exactly like the Virgin Mary.

Renee:  Are YOU a virgin?

Dear Mr. Busdriver,

I'm sorry that I got you fired this week.  Actually, I'm not sorry.   I have to tell you that I will sleep better at night, knowing you won't be driving my children around on a bus.  I hope that you're not able to just get a new route, because the safety of everyone's children should be a priority, and that wasn't the case in your warped world.  I hope your supervisor told you that it's unacceptable for someone in your position to put both your middle fingers up to the children in the mirror.  Not only is it not safe for you to do something like that as you're DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, but as a parent, I'm appauled that you would do something like that.  My children have learned enough negative things on the bus over the years, but I certainly don't expect it to come from their DRIVER!    I wasn't sure what to tell my 11 year old when she asked me why I thought you kept slamming on your brakes while you were driving.  She has stopped complaining about her wrist hurting from hitting on the seat in front of her, but someone could have really gotten hurt.  And what exactly were you trying to prove when you put both hands behind your head while you were driving, when they should have been on the steering wheel, to ensure that each and every child in your care stayed safe?  I hope that you get the help you need, or you atleast get a job that doesn't require you to transport precious cargo...

Signed,

A VERY Upset Parent

Long.Overdue.Update

Joey

Joey started cross country, and despite his allergies making his head feel like it might explode, he's doing quite well.  He came in 12th (out of an estimated 60 some kids) his first race, and 11th his second.  He only has a couple of more meets left.  So far he seems to be enjoying 7th grade and continues to do well in school.

Renee

Renee has been devouring books faster than you can spell b-o-o-k.  She goes from reading one book to the next (which is really nothing new) and is constantly reading.  I'm not exaggerating.  She is running for student council and gave a speech last week about why she feels she would make a good representative for the 6th grade class.

Rebecca

Rebecca is enjoying first grade.  She is reading wonderfully and uses all the strategies she's been taught to figure out a word when she gets stuck.  Her handwriting is becoming very neat when she takes her time.  She has two crushes at school and giggles and turns red in the face anytime their names are mentioned.  We are so going to have our hands full when she gets bigger.

Jesse

Jesse was the superstar in his class last week.  Superstar gives you special status.  You can bring in a show and tell everyday (vs. once a week) and it doesn't even have to be about the letter or color of the week.  There is a special poster hung in honor of the superstar, all about them!  Also, you get to be the line leader the entire week which is a very important job.  Jesse came home from school on Monday and said to me.  "Bennett is the lineleader."  Then his face got VERY sad and he quietly said, "I'm nothing."  Oh what a let down when you're not superstar anymore!  I tried to explain to him that everyone has to take turns and he'll get another job soon.  He then went on to list each and every other job there is, and then again said, "I'm nothing."  Poor little man!  He is very much enjoying school and despite not always being cooperative getting ready for school in the morning, he is happy to go everyday!

Steve

Steve went to Michigan for the weekend with our brother-in-law Ryan.  They decided it would be fun to catch a Tigers game.

Kristin

Kristin was completely freaked out when she went downstairs to the basement to do laundry and when she turned around, there was a snake on the floor looking at her.  Although there are lots of critters being caught around our house, I am by no means a fan of any of them.  I am woman, hear me roar, I was NOT letting that thing stay in my house...  Joey showed up wearing nothing but a towel because he heard me scream for him while he was getting out of the shower.  He helped me to catch it and get it out!

Happy Birthday in Heaven Tammy, for you, the best one yet.   Though you left us all behind, we never could forget.  It's your first birthday in Heaven, what a grand affair!  I know that you'll look beautiful with a halo in your hair.  Your cake this year I know will be a beauty to behold, the icing made of silver and the candles made of gold.  We can't buy gifts for you this year,  no birthday cake to share, so we'll say a special prayer for you that our love will reach you there.

Missing you more than words could ever say...

Happy 13th Birthday Joseph!

Dear Joseph,

Thirteen years ago, our lives changed forever!  We learned the joy of parenthood, and we've never looked back!  You go by "Joe" at school now, but you will always be Joey to us.  It is so hard to believe that you are 13 years old already.  That is just crazy to me, but as you continue to get closer and closer to passing up my 5' 1" frame, I realize that you are well on your way to growing up.  In so many ways you are so young yet, and in many ways you are wise beyond your years.  You always have been.  My wish for you as you enter your teenage years is for you to enjoy just being a kid, because all too soon, responsibilities will change and you will cherish these carefree days of having to worry about nothing but you...  Of course, you don't REALLY worry about nothing but you, because you are ALWAYS worried about what everyone else is doing.  If dad and I ever need help parenting (cough, cough) , you're right there, trying to lend a hand.  I'm sure all your experience will serve you well when you become a parent someday.  You've had lots of practice!  Lord knows as our first born, you've taken the brunt of our inexperience as parents!   Dad and I are very proud of the young man you are becoming.  It melts our hearts how caring and loving you can be with your younger sisters and brother.  We hope that you will always be close through the years.  The four of you have always shared a close bond that I hope you will always have.   Your dream remains to be a professional baseball player, a sports announcer, sports photographer,  or an architect.  I know that you will do whatever you set your sights on, because you have always had a desire and drive that will take you anywhere!  We will be right there to cheer you on!  I hope you will always remember how very much you are loved.     You are very blessed to have so many people who would be there in a heartbeat if you ever needed anything!  I pray that God will safely guide you through your teenage years, and when the time comes that you need to choose between right and wrong, that all the values we have tried to instill in you will help you to make the right choices.  This last year has brought us closer together, and I am very thankful for that, as it has been a tough year for our family, and the pressures of middle school often leave you with an attitude that can drive us apart.  I pray that we continue to grow our relationship so that it can be all that it should be.  I hope you know that no matter what, you can always come to us with whatever is on your heart.  Your dad and I will ALWAYS be here for you!

So many changes yet to come...

We will continue to celebrate every day!

With all my love,

Mom

P. S.  I'm praying that you'll feel better on your birthday.  You are supposed to be overnight with your 7th grade class at camp.  You unfortunately have a fever.  I was sad that I wouldn't be seeing you the morning of your birthday, and instead, I get to spend the whole day with you.  I sure hope you feel better so you can enjoy it!

A couple of poems for you, on becoming a teenager.

Teen Creed

Don't let your parents down, they brought you up.

Be humble enough to obey, you may give orders someday.

Choose your companions with care, you become what they are.

Guard your thoughts, what you think, you are.

Choose only a date, who would make a great mate.

Be master of your habits, or they will master you.

Don't be a show-off when you drive, drive safely and arrive.

Don't let the crowd pressure you, stand for something, or you'll fall for anything.  (Thank you   Mrs. Brunner)

We have been enjoying a new hummingbird that has been visiting our hummingbird feeder mulitple times a day.  We know it's a new one, because it showed up WITH the other one!   The other one never sticks around for too long.  This one enjoyed flying in front of the window and looking right at us while we were looking at it.  Then it landed on the feeder and sat dining for about 15 minutes!  We finally decided to videotape it to catch it in action!   Enjoy!

Long update...

We've survived the first full week of school!  The kids are adjusting well, and we are slowly feeling like we're getting back into the swing of things.  The evenings are much shorter than they used to be as Rebecca isn't home until 4 p.m. from school.  By the time the kids finish homework, we eat, do showers and baths, and stories, there is little time for anything else.  Oh how we love summer vacation!  Jesse is adjusting well to being in school, as is his Mommy.  Most mornings he has been getting ready rather well (which I didn't think he'd be able to pull off 6 months ago) but like the Schauer children who have gone to school before him, he seems to lack that thing we develop as adults called urgency.  How nice it would be to NEVER feel like you need to hurry...

This week Jesse reminded me that he isn't all grown-up just yet, (although you can tell he's feeling MUCH bigger than he did two weeks ago) when his sister accidentally sneezed on him while they were waiting for the bus together.  He looked at me with a look of horror on his face and declared, "MOMMY, REBECCA GOD BLESS YOU'D  ON ME"!

I got a phone call last week from a speech therapist at school who wanted to let me know that she did a follow-up on Jesse from back in February when he had his 4-K screening.  She saw improvements in his speech, the biggest one being his SH's like in the word "fishing", which she said was pronounced "fithing" seven months ago.  She asked that we continue to work on using he and she properly, which we've been working on for quite some time.  Jesse is much more likely to say, "Her gave that to me", rather than "She gave that to me."  I also told the therapist that he has drastically improved on his TH's when it comes to words like three or theatre, which used to start with an FR.  She laughed and said I was a step ahead of her and must know exactly what I'm doing.  I chose not to tell her that because he's the baby, it was hard to correct him when he was really little, so that probably didn't help things!  I know in time he'll be talking like the rest of the big kids!

I've uploaded pictures from last weekend, which was quite busy.  The kids (and Steve) were all in a parade, and then we continued the celebration with fun all day long, and fireworks at night.  The next day we headed to Bay Beach in Green Bay with the entire Schauer side of the family.  We celebrated Steve's mom and sister Sherry's birthdays.  The kids all had a blast, and the weather was gorgeous.  We all enjoyed the day together despite a very bee filled picnic there.

Yesterday, Steve and Joey took Steve's dad to Chicago for their annual White Sox game.  Unfortunately after a four hour drive there (because of traffic), the game was postponed due to rain.  Not too much fun, but Joey was thrilled to get out of school early!  Hopefully it won't get rained out tomorrow, when they are planning on heading down again in hopes of a raincheck game!

Renee had her second annual camp-out last night as well.  Last year her camp-out got rained out and had to be resceduled, only to get rained out again and the girls ended up sleeping indoors.  This year, they made it until 4:00 a.m. when they all came in to sleep because the tent was leaking from all the rain!  A great time was had by all, and I can honestly say that it was the best party she's ever had.  She planned lots of activities including a rhyming scavenger hunt and various games that everyone enjoyed!  She's already looking forward to next time!

Tomorrow we all start Sunday school classes.  Joey is into his second year of catacism classes, and Rebecca will be in the first grade class this year instead of the preschool/kindergarten class that I teach.  I've been bringing her to class since she was two years old, so it will be a big change not having her this year! My class might be all too quiet!  Atleast I still have Jesse for a couple of more years!  I believe that Renee will start alcolyting soon, but will have to look into that.  Hard to believe that I have been teaching since 1991, so this will be my 17th year!  Where does the time go?

September 5, 2008

We survived the first week of school!

We are back into the school routine!  Mom is back to getting up at 5:45 a.m. to get the older kids up, which may be the biggest adjustment!  The kids haven't had too much homework yet, so we've been eased into the new school year.

Jesse's first week (three whole days) has gone very well.  Other than the first day of tears, he has happily gone off to school.  Yesterday he had a slight moment of panic as the bus was coming down the street and he asked if I was meeting him at school again.  When I told him that I would see him after school when the bus brought him home, he started asking "Please Mommy, please meet me at school?"  Before he could think too much, the bus pulled up and he got on without a problem.  Renee used to walk Rebecca to class everyday, and now Rebecca will take on that same role with Jesse and walk him to class.  She asks about him to Jesse's teachers every chance she gets.  She's such a little mommy!  I have already seen a change in Jesse as it's very obvious he's feeling like a big kid!  I love to listen to him tell the stories of his day, as there is always a smile on his face and his eyes light up.  He told his teacher today that he loves 4-K!  Yesterday, while watching a movie, he spontanously told me that he loved me.  It's not completely unusual for him to tell me first, but usually not in the middle of something that has his attention.  After I told him I loved him too, he hopped off the couch, paused the DVD and came over to me.  He wrapped his arms around me and said, "And I just have to show you!"  He completely melted my heart!  I think maybe he'll appreciate the time we have together a little bit more!  I know I will!!

John McCain and Sarah Palin visited Cedarburg, Wisconsin today which isn't far from us at all!  I would have loved to have been there, and even taken the kids!  The city was swamped with people, and most people didn't even get a glimpse of them.  Wisconsin could be the deciding state in the election (so they say on the news) so we're expected to be seeing lots of them!

Everyone is off to school!  Yesterday, Joey started 7th grade, Renee started 6th grade, Rebecca started 1st grade, and today Jesse started 4-K.  He had a hard time waking up this morning, but quickly got into the swing of things and did everything on the "list" to get ready in the morning.  He decided he wanted to take the school bus which I was all for, because I won't be able to meet him at school tomorrow morning to see him to his class.  He happily boarded the bus this morning, and off he went!  The daddy and I arrived at school in time to see him get off the bus.  When he saw us, he seemed calm, cool and collected.  We walked Rebecca and cousin Trevor to class and then headed to Jesse's class.  When we walked through the door, I felt a bit of hesitation from him.  He quickly grabbed my hand and asked me to come with him.  "All the other Mommy's and Daddy's have gone already, so Mommy can't stay long," I said.  I could tell that he wasn't ready for me to go.  When I tried to play it cool and tell him that I'd see him before he knew it, he wrapped his little hands around my neck, with a death grip!  At this point he was trying to hold back tears while saying over and over, "Don't go...please Mommy.  Pleeeeease Mommy, pleeeeeaaase."  It took everything in me not to start crying along with him!  His teacher Mrs. Brunner helped to pry him off of me, and I quickly exited telling him I'd see him soon.  At this point, he started to cry and I heard the classroom door close behind me.  It was an awful feeling leaving him like that, but I knew that he'd be having fun in no time.  By the time I got out of the school, tears were streaming down my face and I could only hope he was doing better than I was!  Mrs. Brunner called shortly after we arrived home to let me know he was doing fine and the tears didn't last very long.  That was just what I needed to hear!  Thank you Mrs. Brunner for that extra TLC to help both of us get through the first day of school.  It is because of you and Mrs. Gasser that I know he will have a wonderful year.  I thank you both for taking such good care of my baby!!  When I picked him up from school and asked him how his day was, he got a BIG smile on his face and said, "AWESOME"!

Cause she's a blonde...

I was giving Renee a hug and kiss hours after she had squirted perfume on herself at Kohl's Department Store.

Mommy:  Oh, you smell good Renee.  What's that perfume called.

Renee:  I don't know, I don't remember the name of it.

Mommy:  Well it sure smells good.

Rebecca:  I know what it's called!

Mommy:  You do?

Rebecca:  Yeah, it's called TRY ME!!

(Rebecca was so proud of herself, and wasn't sure why I was laughing!)

Jesse has been intimidated by his "big" bike all summer long and has avoided riding it.  Today he decided that not only can he ride it... he's ready for jumps too!
