She and Seth have had similar amounts of treatment, it took almost 2 full years of treatment before she reached NED. Hang in there I know all to well how hard this can be. He can get through. He may never come around, but that is HIS loss,to never know how wonderful Seth is. But don't focus on what Seth is missing out on, because Seth has never had a Dad involved in his life, he can not miss what he never knew. What Seth does know however, is that he has the best, the greatest mother in the world, who is there for him every day. This is what counts, this is what he knows, His mom is all the world to him. Seth dosen't need to know that his father abbandoned him. Please don't make the mistake many parents do. Do not tell Seth that his father let because he was sick. Seth is not to blame here, you don't want to add that pressure on him, or the quilt associated with it all. If you want your son to value himself, to feel good about himself, please don't use his illness as a means to humilliate his father, or to get back at him. Obviously he is a p***k and dosen't deserve to have a special child like Seth. Just focus ALL your energy ( Good & Bad ) into being the best mom you can. Nevermind that jerk. Seth is better off with out him. But don't talk about him around Seth and never blame his leaving on Seths illness ( Seth will feel very sad and guilty ) to think that was his fault. Children internalize thing like that,it's part of the I faze of development, young children often blame themselves when things go wrong in their parents relatioship. The internalize. The poem you wrote about his dead beat father having left because he was sick. Seth would interpret that and feel that it was his fault. He has enough to deal with. Seth has all he needs, a Mother whom loves him more than anythe thing in the world, a family of siblings that love him - (and a biological jerk that is not in the picture )seems Seth is better off with out him. Keep up the good work and let Seth know he left for an other reason. It will help Seth to not feel responsible for his mothers pain , at least parte Susan Hubley of it.
