Seth Aaron Mccartney blessed my life 6 weeks before his due date. He was born at a healthy 7pds 1oz. "Pork Chop" was the biggest preemie in the NICU at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina!
Shockingly 4 days after Seths 1st birthday he was diagnosed with Stage 4 N-MYC amplification, poor histology, poor shimida
Neuroblastoma! Since diagnosis Seth has battled his cancer with much grace and more tolerence than one could fathom. Seth has taught me that life is precious. That you should never take one moment in time for granted. That you shouldn't sweat the small things in life. That you should take hold of those around you that you love and give them all of what is inside of you. Tommorw they could be gone! Life is a gift not to be taken for granted as so many of us do or have done.
Seth has had 13 rounds of chemo and high dose chemo's. He has had 13 rounds of radiation, a stem cell transplant and survived an experimental treatment never before done by his treating oncologist here in SC. He has had numerous operations. To many to count. He has endured his own "mom" giving him shots. His eyes welling in tears but afterward so willing to give me a smile and a hug! Trusting me that I am doing what i can to make him better! And as many have come to know Seth, know that he does all this with lots of smiles and laughter. Besides the once bald head and the scars that mark a true hero, one would never guess that this child has been staring death in the face everyday for 2 years! He doesn't understand "cancer" but he does understand pain. It's hard to watch your child suffer so much and not be able to make it disappear. However, its hard to be so down on life when he has finally taught me how to live! He is the happiest child. I am amazed on a daily basis and truely grateful for everyday I have to share with him. This fight is not over. We will win!
Please say prayers for him. We love the prayers!
Thanks everyone for your continued concern and support! Cyndi M.
