I have been off the internet for quite some time due to bed rest...I went out of work/life from January until April. I just went back home recently (stayed with my folks for help). Austin Dominic was born on April 10th...he weighed 8 lbs...5 weeks early. We both are doing well...I am adjusting to life with two kiddos. And I lost my job over being out of work too long...as of May 8th...I no longer work. Well...I will be a stay at home mom for a bit now. with no internet. so...thanks for asking about me through face book. it was nice! And congrats on your 3 year old...wow!!! He is huge! Guess what I found? Yup, a nuk. Plus, there is still one hanging in my cube here at work from the last time you came to visit. ~ take heart, he was very attached to his nuks and it will come back to him every now and again when he feels he needs extra comfort. Sorry for the delay - - Grandma goofed :>) -Grandma G Aug 12 2008 Hello All~ We had lots of fun on Sunday at the Thomas the Train event in Lakeville. Aidan wasn't sure he wanted to ride on the train. It was Thomas engine with two double-deck passenger cars, pushed/pulled by a small engine at the end. We called it the caboose :>). Once the train started rolling, Aidan was very interested. He looked out the window and we saw another train in the yard (not moving). Then trees passed by and fields and cows and wild flowers. The ride was so gentle and slow I'm not sure he actually realized he was moving and the scenery was standing still. When we got off, he walked down the aisle and down the steps just like everyone else. After the train ride, we played at the things within the fenced area. Leggo trains, sand box, trains on a wooden track (like he has at home) and some other stuff. That part was all free. He saw Sir Topem Hat and Sir T waved at Aidan. Aidan waved back and was all excited that they waved to each other. Of course, I was too slow to get the picture. Kids just move too fast :>) We visited the gift shop to purchase a souvenier for Aidan. He picked out a $3 place mat that had Thomas and a few of the other characters on it. Way to go, Aidan!! I found a pack of stickers with the characters for $1 and he liked that, too. I got stickers for myself as well :>). After all that, we found a cool spot to rest and drink apple juice. He played with his "Mack" trucks on the sidewalk area. I think he was the only one there that played with Mack at a Thomas event :>) Then we played follow-the-leader for about 1/2 hr. You guessed right, I was not the leader. Once when he was playing with the trains on the wooden tracks/table, he put his Macks on the table and played with them. One little girl said he should put them on the road not the track. She was nice, but he didn't understand what she wanted. (It was afternoon and he was getting tired). So, the Macks went in Gradma's pocket and he played with the trains. It was truely a "Grandma Day" and I loved it! But, I'm definitly not used to it!! -A very happy Grandma G - it was a fun day with Aidan and Auntie Aug 12 2008 From one mother to the next: Sitting back and watching other moms as they struggle with their child hitting; screaming; or plain ol' disobeying can make you chuckle thinking back on yours not obeying. This happened to me quite recently: I stopped the mom at the swimming pool and made her laugh. saying: "my sweet faced little gal sitting here was that a few months ago..." This really helped and made the mom feel better. You will be able to do that soon: I PROMISE! Not ever child goes through "terrible" stages: but most parents are fibbing if they state that: in my opinion. I promise stick to your guns: give him boundaries and this "stage" will be worth it in the end b/c he will be a well rounded/strong adult! That is what most of the "stubborn" attitude is: The worst in them will be there best qualities later! Funny I know: Hope this helps: from one mom to the next! GOOD LUCK!
