The little girls had a dr. appt today. They have been sick for a few days. I researched pediatricians in the area and decided on one. They went in this afternoon.

Kamdyn weighed 55.8 pounds, and she was 47 1/2 inches tall. Diya weighed 41.8 pounds, and she was 41 1/2 inches tall.

The girls both have a bacterial infection. They both have to take an antibiotic, and they will miss school tomorrow.

11/2/09

It's the beginning of November, and let me tell you it's COLD outside!  I'm nervous what this winter has in store for us!  I have heard from a few people that they heard it's supposed to be a mild winter but time will tell.

We all had a great Halloween!  Kohen celebrated his FIRST Halloween, and can you believe that I didn't even get a photo of him in his costume?
What kind of mom am I? He was fussy, and the costume made him too hot. So he only wore it for a few minutes.

The little kids, Deep, & I went to Ohio for Halloween. We visited Meme, G-G, Aunt Connie & Uncle Rick, Amber, & Todd (and the kiddos, of course!), and a few of Mommy's friends.  We had a great time!

Kamdyn dressed up as a doctor, Diya was Ariel, Max was a mailman, & Kohen was briefly a monkey...and a cute monkey at that! ;o)

The kids went Trick-or-Treating around a small neighboring town, and then we took them to the "Downtown Crestline" Trick-or-Treat. They got lots of goodies, and were very excited!!

We came home late Halloween night, and the kids were tuckered out from their long day!  They went right to bed!  It was perfect!

On a seperate note, Kohen is starting to push up into a crawling position! YAY! He is also scooting backwards...pushing himself. It's cute!

I hope everyone had a fantastic and safe Halloween!

I just wanted to quickly update that Kohen is starting to babble!  He says mama, dada, baba, nana, and a few other sounds.  He's been cooing for quite a while.  He went from cooing to making a growling. It is cute!  I need to make a video of him making all these new sounds.

I will update on the family soon! =o)

Kohen’s Birth Story- written 4 months after he was born

March 18, 2009-

I had a normal day as usual…I took the kids to school and picked them up. The kids and I ate dinner at our favorite little Coney dog place- Dawson’s Dogs.  It was yummy. We went home, and I took a shower.  After my shower I got dressed and took pictures with the kids.  Deep got home from Michigan while I was in the shower.  We were due to be at the hospital at 10 PM. We left our house just before 10, and we arrived at Dupont Hospital right around 10.  We walked through the “Birth Canal” at Dupont, and got to our room- # 2203. Our room was all set up for us. The board even had our info on it. I was surprised to see it all ready to go for us.  Then the panic set in. I couldn’t believe that I was going to give birth to another baby! I kept saying to myself “Oh my gosh…I’m doing this again.”  Then things got exciting!

At 10:30 the nurse came in and started my IV with antibiotics. I tested positive for Group B Strep this pregnancy. This was the first pregnancy I had ever tested positive. So I had to have a couple of rounds of antibiotics before the delivery.

At 10:50 she inserted the prostin and said I was around 1 CM dilated! YAY!

At 11:05 Dr. Wheeler came in to check on me. He told us he was on call all night so he would be at the hospital. He said “Let’s have this baby by lunch tomorrow!”

I started contracting not long after the prostin was put in. They got worse as the time went on. I was in a lot of pain and unable to relax. I was trying to wake Deep up to walk with me, and he wouldn’t get up so I threw a chocolate at him. It worked and he got up. I used the restroom, and walked around the room for a bit. It didn’t help ease my pain.

March 19, 2008

At 2:20 AM the nurse checked me. I was 2 cm dilated, and my cervix was starting to thin out. I got my second dose of antibiotics and prostin.  I asked for IV pain meds to help me relax and sleep a bit.  The meds helped, and I was able to relax for a few hours.

At 5:25 Andrea Yoder, CNM came in to check me and break my water. She said I was 3 CM dilated, and the baby was at a -1 station.  I asked for more pain meds, but they recommended I get an epidural now. A few minutes after Andrea Yoder broke my water she commented about how it looks like my belly has already gone down some due to the amount of water that had come out.

At 5:50 I received my epidural from Dr. Gopali.  I felt sick while getting it so when I laid back down I wanted to lie on my side. Because of that my left side went number than my right.  The epidural did its job, and I felt very little pain. My mom called to check on me at 6:14, and the epidural was working well by that point.

At 6:20 Dr. Wheeler stopped in to check on me.  He wanted to put the internal heart monitor on the baby’s head, and the internal pressure monitor to keep track of my contractions. At 6:35 Dr. Wheeler checked my progress, and I was 4-5 CM dilated.  He estimated that the baby would be born at 8:07 AM.

Dr. Wheeler checked me again around 7 AM and said that he guesses the baby would be born by 10 AM. I guess my progress had slowed down.

At 8 AM I start feeling lots of pain and pressure. I wasn’t sure if I needed to have a BM or deliver a baby. So we called the nurse at 8:03. She checked me and said I was 8 CM dilated, and she could feel the baby’s head.  She gave me a bolis on my epidural.  I told her that I would go fast from here. She said she would tell my nurse. As soon as she left the pain only got worse. I felt like I went through an exorcist moment…I started screaming at Deep to “CALL THE NURSE.”  At 8:10 my nurse came in and gave me another bolis on my epidural.  She said it’s time to push, let me get Dr. Wheeler. I could hear the Dr. in the hall…so I said “Tell him to shut up and get in here!” They asked if a student nurse could come in, and I said yes. I started pushing, and my epidural kicked in really well.  I couldn’t feel the contractions I was having. So I just pushed and pushed with all my might!  Dr. Wheeler teased me saying “Where did this baby get red hair from?”

At 8:21 AM on March 19, 2009 the newest little Thakur was born into this world!  They “threw” the baby at me. I had the head by my head so I couldn’t tell if the baby was a he or she! So I asked “SO???”  Everyone looked at me and Deep said “So what?”  I replied “What is it?”  Deep replied “It’s a BOY!!” Kohen Jayce was here!!

The nurses took him and cleaned him up. While delivering the placenta Dr. Wheeler joked with me again…”Keli are you having twins because I feel another set of feet?” I nearly feel off the delivery bed! Thankfully he was just joking!

Kohen Jayce weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. He was 19 inches long. He was a healthy little boy with lots of hair!!!

Our hospital stay was nice. It was nice to be catered to while there!

We just got home from an extended visit to Fort Wayne. Our friends Jessica & Keith got married!  HUGE congrats to them!   While we were in Fort Wayne, Kohen went up to a size 3 in diapers!  He's getting so big!!  I have lots of photos to upload...I am going to work on that now!

9/1/09

Yesterday Max turned 3 years old!  I'm still curious how the past 3 years have flown by so quickly!

He woke up on his birthday, and we made cinnamon rolls...per his request! =o)

After a yummy cinnamon roll breakfast, the kids and I made his birthday cake. They each helped by pouring in different ingrediets & each cracked an egg. =o)

We worked on the cake through out the day!

Daddy came home early from work, and we went to Red Robin for Max's birthday dinner. He got a balloon there, and we started a new tradition...when we left Red Robin he made a wish and let the balloon go so the balloon would take his wish to God/Heaven.

After dinner we went to the big mall close to us. They have a store called Ride Makerz. It's similar to a "Build-a-Bear" store, but instead of building a bear, you build a car/truck.  Max had such an amazing time. He built a "hot rod."

We came home and frosted the cake, sang happy birthday to Max, he blew out the candles, and we all enjoyed a yummo piece of cake. =o)

Then Max went to bed a very happy little 3 year old!

8/31/09

I am so happy...God blessed me 3 years ago today when I became the Mommy to this amazing little boy! Happy 3rd Birthday Max! You light up Mommy's life, and fill my soul with a happiness that can not even be put into words!

I wanted to update about our evening while I have a moment!

I planned a girls/mom date night a couple of weeks ago. We bought tickets to a Demi Lovato/David Archuleta/Jordan Pruitt concert to surprise the girls with.  I talked about our special date night to the girls...even bribed them with it a few times. They had no idea what we were going to do.

So tonight was the big night!  We got to the DTE Music Center and just before we walked in the gate I stopped all the girls. I said to them "OK girls I'm going to hand you a ticket and Kamdyn can tell you what we are doing."  I handed Diya her ticket, and then I handed Kamdyn her ticket....Kamdyn screamed "DEMI LOVATO...we get to see Demi Lovato!!!" They were so excited! It was so much fun to see them in all their glory at this concert!!!

They were a bit bored during Jordan Pruitt and David Archuleta, but once Demi Lovato took the stage they were in awe!  It was a great concert!  We all had fun.

I can't wait to surprise them like this again! =o)

Wow this summer is breezing right by!  The kids will be starting school on September 8.  We have Kamdyn enrolled in 2nd grade, and Diya registered for kindergarten. We found out today that Kamdyn's teacher is Ms. Mitchell, and Diya's is Mrs. Mandeville. Both girls are excited!

8/6/09

Just a quick update...Kohen found his tongue!  He sticks it out all the time.  It is too cute!

August 1, 2009

So it has been a long time since I have updated.

Things are OK.  We are living in Michigan now. It has been an adjustment for all of us, but things are going well.

Kohen is already 4 months old!  He is doing well, and growing like a weed!  I weighed him today and he was nearly 16 lbs! He is starting to sit on his own, and he has rolled over a few times...I think by accident more than effort.

The kids are all enjoying their summer!  Kamdyn turned 7 on July 3. She lost her first tooth the next day! The tooth fairy was kind to her. She got $20 from the tooth fairy, $5 from Paw, $5 from Meme, and $1 from Khiley!  Diya is excited to go to kindergarten. She has cut her own hair about 3 times this summer!  Today she cut herself bangs...then when I tried to explain that she shouldn't do that...she sat in front of the mirror and admired what a great job she did. She is a hoot!  Max will be 3 at the end of this month!  He talks so much! He is such a funny little guy!  Khiley is registered and ready to start her 10th grade year! She's doing well!

Their Baba (Deep's dad) is here visiting this week.  Everyone is excited to spend time with him.

The kids broke my camera...so we are going to be lacking photos for a bit. BOO!

August 1, 2009

I recently found Diya & Max's stats from their check ups in April.

On April 27, Diya was 41 pounds and 40 inches tall.

Max was 32 pounds and 35 inches tall.

June 26, 2009

Kohen moved into size 2 diapers today!  He's wearing all 3-6 & some 6-9 months clothes!! =o)

5/11/09

Life is keeping us busy!

Right now we have a few sick people in the fam. Hopefully, the illness passes quickly!

So the recent highlights....

April 25, 2009- Kamdyn, Diya, & Max ran a 1/4 mile run for the IPFW Mastadon Kids Stomp. They all finished and got little medals & gift bags. The same day Khiley did a 5 mile walk for March of Dimes. We were proud of all of them!

Each of the kiddos have had a Dr. appt. Kohen had an appt on 5/6 he weighed 10 lbs 13 oz. He turned 7 weeks old on 5/7. He smiled a few times last week, and he really started smiling yesterday (5/10 & Mother's Day!!!) Kohen is doing well! He's nursing fantastic! He sleeps pretty well. He's a cuddly little guy! I'm absolutely in love with him!  We have his 2 month appt coming up soon.

Max has taken to throwing tantrums A LOT! He screams when he doesn't get his way. Other than these little issues, he's doing well! He had an appt with the Dr. Height wise he's right in the middle percentile wise, weight wise he's on the upper end. His head must have had a growth spurt because he doesn't fit in most of his old shirts.

Diya is doing well in preschool. This is her last week! How did this school year go by so quickly....yet so slowly?  She scored pretty well on the Brigance (Kg readiness test). She was a bit behind in a few things...like address & phone #, but we've changed so many times in the past few months it's kind hard for even me to keep up.  She has a field trip to the park tomorrow, and she has a field day on Wed. Thursday is her final day.  Diya got a speech test a few weeks ago. We have not heard back from them about our insurance details...so hopefully by June we can get her going.

Kamdyn is doing well in school. She had a field trip last week. She went to Fox Island for a hike. She had a great time! She has homework every night that we work on. She likes school a lot. They aren't doing any activities right now because we are still trying to figure out when/where we will be moving.

Khiley is good! She went to prom last weekend!!! I can't believe that at the same time I have a teen going to prom and a 7 week old nursing baby! CRAZY! She had a fun time at prom! She's finishing the track season.  She made the news paper & color guard for her current school for next year. The guard here is VERY good! =o) I'm proud of her!

I keep busy with everyone & all the stuff going on.

For Mother's Day (yesterday) we went to Ohio to be with my family. I wanted to spend some quality time with my Grandma & Mom. My grandma is having a major surgery on Wed. Please keep her in your prayers.

Ok well it's beyond bed time for me....must get sleep!

4/21/09

I have been so crazy busy that I haven't had a moment to update. I guess I need to do a better job updating!

Lots has gone on in the past month! I'm not sure that I even remember it all...

Today is the VERY last day Diya will ever be 4! She is so excited to turn 5. I, on-the-other-hand can't believe that my baby girl is ALREADY turning 5 years old! Where did the years go? How did the time fly by so quickly? Diya is such an amazing little lady. We are very proud that God blessed us with her!  Sunday we had her birthday party at Indiana Tech's Andorfer Commons rec center. We had a great turn out! It was great to catch up with family & friends, and everyone had a great time!

Also on Sunday, Kohen turned 1 month old already! He's doing well! He's a mellow little guy...most of the time. I think he's about up to 10 pounds now. He's almost out grown his newborn size clothes. He had an appt. on 4/9/09 to get checked out after an ER trip.  He weighed 8 lbs 5 oz. Dr said he is doing fantastic!

I mentioned Diya's speech at the Dr. appt, and they gave us a referral to get her speech evaluated. She went yesterday for the eval. The speech therapist said that she "fronts" with her speech. Basically sounds that should be made with the back of her tongue...she makes with the front. So a "k" sounds like a "t". The therapist told me that she seems very receptive, and she should take to the speech training quickly. She also gave us some tips to get started.

Max is doing well...he's a bit jealous of the baby. So he has been acting out. We struggle with bedtime...especially when Daddy's home. Max has been throwing more tantrums, and getting very frusturated with situations that typically wouldn't upset him.

Kamdyn & Diya have started gymnastics on Saturday mornings. Both girls are doing fantastic!

Our family had a great Easter! We went to church on Sat. evening for the Easter Vigil. It was awesome! Sunday morning we went to a very nice Easter brunch. It was an awesome meal. The Easter Bunny brought the kiddos lots of fun things! Their favorite thing was tennis racquets & tennis balls. We are thinking that they will take tennis lessons this summer....my that Easter Bunny was awfully smart to think/know to bring tennis racquets. ;o) The kids were amazed!

Otherwise...things are moving along well. We are back in the routine, and I'm running around all the time. These kiddos keep me busy, but I LOVE it!!

4/13/09

Wanted to quickly document that Kohen has moved into Size 1 diapers now! He's growing!!

3/28/09

Kohen is 9 days old today! He is doing well!

On Wed. I took Kohen to see the lactation consultant, and he weighed in a little low...6 lbs 9.5 oz. The lactation consultant suggested that I call his Dr. because he was very juandice. The Dr. wanted to see him that afternoon. We ended up spending the rest of the day at the Dr. office and hospital...for blood work. His bilirubin level came back at 16...if it would have been above 20 treatment would have been necessary. He is still a bit yellow, but he's looking a little bit better each day.

My parents were with us for a week! It was nice to have help around here...and driving back & forth to school! Sadly, they left today!  We all miss them already!

The girls are on Spring Break this coming week! YAY! Khiley went to visit her sister in Ohio. We have a few things planned to keep us busy next week! It hope the week goes smoothly!

March 19, 2009

Kohen Jayce Thakur arrived this morning at 8:21. He weighed in at 6 lbs 15 oz and is 19.5 inches long.

He is doing fantastic! I will update more later when I'm not so exhausted!

Feb. 19, 2009

Today God heard my prayers! haha  Ok so really I was just completely exhausted and needing at least 1 hour more sleep. Max was up coughing half the night, and I was up right along with him feeling bad for him! I turned on the news at 5 AM and prayed for a 2 hour delay...all along thinking HA wishful thinking. Then....at 6 :10 AM, I glanced at the TV just as Fort Wayne Community Schools flashed on the screen being on a 2-hour delay!! =o)  It was absolutely that dramatic too!!! =o)

So I have a few big things to share today.....

First of all...I want to write about how silly Diya is! I'm sure that everyone has heard "kids say the darndest things" line before. Well today Diya did!!  We dropped off Kamdyn at school, and we were on our way to WalMart. We passed a school/church with a cemetary in the front. Diya noticed it and said..."Mom, you see that place right there...that's where dead people go. You see their (dead people's) cars are parked there beside it!!"

Then at WalMart, I had to use the restroom. Diya went potty just before me and as I was preparing to go she announced quite loudly..."Mom do you have a hairy bottom?" I didn't know how to respond. I told her to please be quite and use inside voices. She then went on to ask "Why do big people have hairy bottoms?" I again was amusingly stumped! How do I respond to this...in a public restroom??? I suggested she ask her dad tomorrow when she sees him! Yes, I will gladly take the bad mom trophy for the day (for that answer!)

Next big thing...Kamdyn is really struggling in school. I was quite surprised to find out how much she is struggling.  She has always been our kiddo who does well and we only hear praises about. Yesterday I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with her teacher. She got her first EVER write-up yesterday. She didn't follow directions at least 5 times. =o(  She cried when she had to write her name in the notebook. I'm just not sure how to handle these this. I plan to have a parent/teacher conference with her teacher in the next week. Please pray that God gives me the strength to take care of this in the proper way!

Max got a big boy bed today! It's a Disney Cars bed. He is very excited about having a Cars bed!  We will have Deep set it up for him tomorrow when he gets home. =o)

I have more to share, but it's time to go get the girls from school. So stay tuned....I'll update soon!

Feb. 5, 2009

Greetings!

We have lived in Indiana for just over a month now! Things are going well!

Khiley is doing fantastic in school! She likes all of her classes. Her favorite class is Journalism, and she really likes her math teacher!  She got the oppertunity to go with her freshman class to hear Tony Dungy (former Colts coach) speak yesterday. She took her camera and got a photo taken with him. Her journalism teacher talked to her about writing an article about hearing Tony Dungy for the school's newspaper. She is very excited!  Khiley joined SADD this week, and she is thinking that she wants to participate in Track & Field. I am so proud of her because she is wanting to get involved in activities! Not even a full year ago we had to bribe her to participate in a summer softball league! She is really doing well!  She is just getting over a sinus infection. Otherwise, she is doing great!

Kamdyn is struggling in school currently. She isn't putting as much effort her school work as she typically does. I am having to be more strict with her than usual.  I know she is having a hard time dealing with all the changes. We have so much going on that it is definitely a challenging time. Please keep her in your prayers if you don't mind.

Diya is fitting right in at her preschool. She has been such great kiddo lately! I have to get the kids up at 6:30 AM, and she gets right up, picks out her clothes, dresses herself, eats breakfast, and gets her own socks and shoes on. She is usually the first kiddo ready to leave in the morning! It has really been a shocking role reversal for her & Kamdyn in the past few weeks. I hope Diya keeps up this great behavior!

Max has been throwing a lot of tantrums lately. I have no doubt that all the changes are effecting him also. I also think that he isn't getting enough sleep. He is exhausted by midday & in bed right around 7 PM.  Max REALLY wants to go to preschool. We keep telling him that if he starts going potty he will be able to go to preschool. He still has no desire...oh well.

Deep is in Michigan now. He likes his job a lot! He works nearly 10-12 hours a day. Today he worked over 13 hours. His car broke down a few days ago. Thankfully, he was able to drive it to Sears and have it fixed. It cost an arm & a leg though. =o/ He's staying at a hotel for the time being...until we figure out if/when we will all be moving to MI.

I am doing well. I am always running around or trying to take care of something. Being the only adult in charge of 4 kids makes for a busy mom! I figured out I am at St. Jude 13 times a week to drop off or pick up kids. I spent 7 hours (4 on Tues & 3 on Wed) working on Kamdyn's homework. She is all caught up, and will hopefully start to do better.  We started filling out Valentines for the kids in the girls' classes tonight. They have a Valentines party next week...Diya on Thurs, & Kamdyn on Friday.

Stay tuned to our stories...I'm sure that we will have some exciting news to share in the next few weeks!

Happy Valentines Day!!
