Welcome to the Nicholson's family website!
This post is going to be primarily about our little G-Man since he's hit some big milestones I want to be sure and capture. I took him for his one year well visit on Wednesday and we found out all sorts of interesting things...like the fact that he had another ear infection. I had no idea, so I am really grateful the appointment landed when it did. Apart from that the appointment went well. Grady absolutely loves to tear apart that strip of paper that is on the exam table, so that took up a good percentage of our wait. The doctor's first question was how many words he says. I said four: dada(his most favorite of all), Elli (which sounds like yaya), uh oh (becoming his close second favorite), and mama (which is used painfully sparingly). I was expecting the doctor to be concerned because Elli was saying a lot more around this time (at this point you can all remind me not to compare my two children which is precisely what the doctor told me). She told me that she would expect for twelve months old to have two words so he's got twice as many as she would expect. Yay! It was the one thing that's been in the back of my mind in terms of his development. And...drum roll please...his percentiles are as follows...25% head circumference, 25% weight, and a resounding 95% in height. Really, it looks like he's completely off the charts in height. The doctor applauded my lean children which is a bit ironic because I've always pined for those chubby cheeks and rolls everywhere. The doctor always makes me feel really good about my kiddos and Grady's appointment was no exception. The shots were pretty awful. Grady pulled the whole cry without making a sound - face all puckered up and mouth agape - then he cried for about four seconds as I held him close and then he was set. He's my brave little boy! Greg is out of town this weekend for a retreat so it's a little bittersweet to announce that today was the first day for multiple steps!! Grady's been cruising around everything - even pushing the kitchen chair around the kitchen - and standing all by himself for a length of time before he realizes what he's doing. Today he took two steps (twice) to get to Elli's My Little Pony Carousel toy (a 2nd birthday gift from the Howe's that Grady thinks is so fun...and I just find SUPER loud). I caught Grady walking so I started cheering for him. That resulted in him hamming it up by standing up and then pretending to fall down for the next five minutes as Elli and I giggled at him, so the walking was over for the day. I wish that Greg could have been here, but he took his first step on Sunday and all of us were present and accounted for. I thank God for two healthy, crazy kids!

The Outlook Calendar on my computer says, "Pocahontas with Elli." As if I would forget. We had a mommy daughter date tonight watching the CYT (Christian Youth Theater) performance of The Legend of Pocahontas at the Grace Community Church in Noblesville. Beforehand we dined on Chick-fil-A and afterward we enjoyed some Orange Leaf. Just the two of us...
This week was one of firsts. Grady's first tooth finally popped out on Monday. He's such a little trooper...he was out of sorts a bit but overall he's still a sweet little monster. Elli's first haircut also happened this week - well Elli's first haircut in which she cut her own hair that is. I wasn't here and it's probably just as well because all ...
Man...what a fantastic weekend! It was so fun and exactly what I needed. Friday I had the priviledge of watching Owen while Ehrin checked in on Baby Howe (BH) at the doctor. Happy to report that BH is still growing and doing well. Can't wait to see that baby bumb grow and learn whether it's another niece or nephew. Anyway, Owen and Elli at one poin...
Grady is nine months old! He's doing so much and I am terribly behind on all his milestones so this post will be a G-man update. Grady's nine month appointment was today and he was a champ (and I should mention that Elli was quite the good girl while we were there as well). Some of the notables from the appointment: over 90th percentile in height, ...
